honeypea Sent. 😉 I feel like such an elder in this thread. I've found my album outside of the DD/Christmas sphere. I'm most excited about some paper and embellies from a 2022 collection I managed to track down and order. I don't feel the need to get anything from AE tomorrow. Am I the old lady sitting in her garden, watching people walk by and just grinning? Maybe. But I feel pretty content with what I've found for my project this year. Cheers! *pets my SS Hickory album*

I know it was discussed above, but does anyone have an idea of how many pages fit into a 2.36 spine? (Compared to Ali’s 2.5). The rings on the SB.com 6x8 albums are quite a bit smaller than AE's albums. The amount of pages will depend on how chunky they are. If you are a flat embellisher, you'll get 25-30 spreads in there easily. If you like to add dimension, you'll need to carry out some restraint to make a full month fit in there. I believe dawnnikol found the SB.com velvet albums to have quite a bit of give even though the rings are on the smaller side. Maybe she can let you know about the amount of more dimensionally embellished pages? |

Do you have a simple stories album, the one that is kraft with fabric on the spine? They are the same size as the velvet albums.
They are not as wide as the AE albums, the simple stories holiday albums, or the citrus twist 6X8.
The velvet albums are really beautiful but only the 9X12 have a nice chunky spine. The velvet 6X8 are not great for a month-long project if you like to include embellishments and stuff. That said, I made a 3X8 album work one year and it's fine. I did a lot of one-page stories instead of 2-page layouts for one story.
I don't have a way to post pictures outside of Instagram. Sorry!

I’m pretty content with what’s in my little stash of old stuffs. I still like my old FYC stamp sets and kit remnants more than anything new I’ve seen this year (or last). |

I have a 6x8 faux leather album from SB, but not the craft one .
However, I’m not against a 9x12 plush album, especially if the spine is wider. My past albums are all over the place, size-wise.

I didn't stuff the SB.com one with as many layouts as it is just for one Disney trip. This is the same 9X12 next to a Studio Calico album that has the thicker spine. breakfastattiffanys I sent Booty the pics, but just by the numbers, the AE album I have from a couple of years ago has 50 pages in it, this is a normal DD album for me. I use Thickers and make interactive pages that fold over, pop dots, lots of chunk. My plush SB.com album was a much thinner 35 pages. I did not overfill either, by some miracle, and also have some stuff loose in the backs of the albums and, in the AE album, a pocket adhered on the front inside to hold a holiday card. Based on the amount of room in my binder rings for those 2 albums, the AE is the obvious winner for room. I started that album on Thanksgiving and went through Christmas easy peasy. I could probably go back and add more. I had thought about adding more to the SB.com and decided against it. I could definitely add some dimension, but don't feel it's necessary for that particular album. So, 50+pp in AE album and 35+ in SB.com with room in both.

Did you know the Simple Stories holiday binders (large spine) started out as kraft albums with fabric on the spine, blemon ? That's how it all began. They were not linked to a particular Christmas collection but meant to be customised with mixed media and embellies to match your chosen Christmas line. I still regret not buying the one with the words printed on the fabric but I did get the candy cane-striped fabric one the first year they offered them. ☺️ Look at me with my super niche SS holiday binder knowledge. I was already looking for wide spine alternatives to the AE ones that I found too expensive to ship internationally back then (ironically, it was super cheap compared to nowadays). 😂  |

I wasn’t thinking about the plush spine adding to the measurement but taking away from the ring size, but I can visualize sizing much better from all the comparison photos.
And knowing a real estimate on how many pages fit in each album from a fellow chonk page creator is helpful!

The SS Hickory binder I linked and talked about a few pages back has the same large spine + rings as the holiday binders. 👍 I absolutely love these as "thicc" alternatives to the AE DD albums |

OMG - I just realized I had a mistake on my calendar and I have my annual mammogram at 9:15 local and DD goes live at 9 ?!?! Has anyone ever ordered DD while on your phone/cellular? I would totally have changed my appt time but it was showing in the wrong time zone and it’s too late to move it.
I can easily be in the parking lot early and on my phone to order but ugh, seems like my chance of getting anything that will go quick just went down the drain (crying emoji). This is always a fun “game” for me to have an hour to just order and spectate DD and stupid appt is messing up the fun - grrrr

I like a lot of the shop items and am still debating about what to order.
I like the green 6x8 album a lot and will probably get that, with specialty paper, the plastic tag set, painted wood veneer stars, tab stickers and large felt numbers but am still on the fence about the kit. For some reason Liz's kit doesn't appeal to me so much this year and I do need a few more papers and journal cards. Have been considering the main kit but will have to delve around in my stash and digital files a bit more.

I just want to flip through those albums! Me too! That bakers twine around the green velvet is amazing. Absolute perfection. I'm excited for tomorrow. I work late so I'm not going in until late. I went through the post again today and made a list of what I wanted. It's the same as yesterday so I'm good to go. I know I'm buying into the hype but it's fun. I look forward to this every year. I don't think I'm getting anything that's going to sell out but I've still got a strategy. |
