A few days late to the first official Ali Edwards DD sneaks but here it finally is... our annual December Daily discussion that runs from August until January 2024! Get your Christmas stash out, put Mariah Carey on and start planning, creating and shopping (hehe). It is officially "festivating" season in the scrap world. 🌟🎅🎄 Welcome, welcome to all December lovers! As always, ALL December projects are welcome here. From creating cards + tags for any December holiday to making traditional LOs for your family album to JYC and DD. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Festivus or any other holiday, you're good. This is all bout sharing enthusiasm, cheering each other on, learning about our respective cultural traditions, having fun, sharing holiday movie recommendations and getting excited about new (and old) paper goodies for that special time of the year. This is also the place to share sneaks for December documenting kits from indie designers and companies (Ali Edwards, Paper Person, Studio Calico, Everyday Explorers, etc.). We'll be keeping track of all the new one-off releases we come across to make sure you can find just the right fit for your project. For this year's traditional Christmas scrapbook lines, please head to the dedicated thread here. Confirmed 2023 December/holiday kits: Ali Edwards | DD order selection period opens on August 29. Elle's Studio | Full kit reveal on August 23.

14th DD for me. I really want to use the Paige Evans 6x8 album because it's just so colorful and fun, but SB.com still doesn't have it in stock. I'm being impatient for no reason considering I'll most likely use PP (no sneaks yet) for documenting and she won't ship until October. :X

The gold 10x8 vellum paper from AE gets a big sideeye from me. I know we trash her messy writing style often, but it looks especially sloppy on that piece. I’m pretty sure I’d get better results myself using a plain old gold sharpie marker.
So far the only thing that’s grabbed my attention was the beautiful poinsettia acetate from PE.

I'm not planning on doing a DD album this year (probably) but I went to a delightful indie film today, a documentary called Believe about the Fraternal Order of Real Bearded Santas. I smiled through almost the whole thing. So I will have to include an August Christmas story if I do make an album! If you have a film festival in your area showing this doco I highly recommend it. Hopefully they can sell rights to stream it somewhere too. Quick googling, I found you can rent it on Vimeo or just check out the trailer: vimeo.com/ondemand/santadocumentaryI was a little emotional from watching the film while sipping cold brew, quite twitchy from over-caffeination tbh, and came into the lobby and saw a capybara getting his picture taken with filmgoers for the film festival's website. I guess he's the mascot of one of the production companies or something... If you ever get a chance to meet a capybara they're quite lovely. He snuffled my hand and knee

I want to be a person who festivates whenever I can but I'm more like the Santa's wife who always dresses in black and isn't fooled about how much he's spent on his sleigh...

Got my festivating pants on!! Whoo hoo. This will be year 2 of DD for me. My album from 2022 is half done but I plan to start working on it probably mid October. I have a lot of other things, both scrappy and not, in my life right now so it needs to wait.

I'm excited early this year! I'm feeling like ALL THE THINGS this year, even though I don't need anything. I ordered some pieces from a few new collections, and my early preference is Paige Evans line. It's so cheerful in person, and I'm considering getting her 6x8 album for my DD this year. I already ordered an extra sheet of that beautiful acetate. Maybe it's that the Barbie movie aesthetic is everywhere and Pantone's color of the year is Viva Magenta, but all those cheery bright pinks are calling to me this year.

I'll be using the Paige Evans Sugarplum Wishes kit predominantly for my DD this year. I have other things in my stash that will go nicely with her collection. My daughter and I are also going to be taking Paige's workshop using this kit at Frank Garcia Studio in September. I can't wait!!

Not feeling this years sneaks. Too dark. To 8x10 album focused.
I would love to use another collection, I just don’t know which. I love white space to allow the eye to rest. Maybe Pinkfresh, have they realized theirs yet?
Album spine and FOMO usually do me in on December Daily.

I like some pieces of DD this year, but I never did last years album (and I totally regret not doing it), so Im not sure how to proceed.
Do I go ahead and make a smaller album now for last year and hopefully not be burned out by December for this years album? Just skip last years? That kinda makes me sad because I have one for every year since like 2012.
This is the first year for us to be in our new house, so I for sure want to document it some way.
But Im also behind in PL so maybe just skip last year and move forward?
Decisions, decisions.

I wouldn't full-on skip last year's DD but I'd take the time to write the main stories/anecdotes down and edit the photos (or at least select + organise them in a separate file) and then I'd let it sit until after DD 2023 to avoid the dreaded burnout before even beginning this year's project. You'll have the pics + words for DD 2022 to work with in 2024. And you can always use a smaller spine album by doing a December Occasionally for last year if you need to skip some days to make it more manageable. It won't matter in the long run that you didn't do a story/day. Enjoy your new space, document how you are making your nest, prioritise the new memories that you're looking forward to. 2022 can wait a little.

Maybe Pinkfresh, have they realized theirs yet? Still waiting for Pinkfresh and Crate Paper as the two "big" missing reveals... If they could hurry up, that'd be nice. It's August o'clock!

Oh, ew, I don't like anything I am seeing from the AE pictures. Last year I didn't buy anything, but evidently that also meant I didn't motivate to do DD, so I am going to figure it out.
I don't celebrate Christmas but do like the project, and we have a ton of winter traditions. Looking forward to seeing what people post here.

Don't sweat 2022, but select and print your pictures, and maybe put them in order in an album. Add some notes where needed to jog your memory when you are able to get back to it. Don't even worry about pretty papers or embellishments unless you want to later. Then enjoy the process of working on your 2023 DD in your new home!

Maybe, I'm just too grumpy, but I don't see the point of 8x10. Just buy an 8.5x11 binder or three ring album. Infinitely more options and much cheaper page protectors. The sizes are so close!
ETA: I did not finish up the 2022 DD album. It was made to challenge myself to do different techniques, not neccesarily for memory keeping. Something that I wouldn't share with others. I think I'll work on finishing that up. I don't know about 2023.

Yay, I'm glad this thread is open! I'm looking forward to working on my Dec album again this year, it's one of my favourite projects, and I'm really hoping someone puts out a kit or collection I love as I (seriously) need Christmas supplies.

For me it's the vertical layout that appeals as well as the extra real estate over my standard 6x8. We had planned to do a white Christmas in 2020 and I can imagine making an 8x10 for something like that.

Unwinding from the weekend on this Monday morning (well, early afternoon for me) by posting this lovely pink + pastel DD album from a Spanish crafter. Who's got a current DD fave (video, spread, story idea, photo prompt, etc.) to share to start the week? https://www.instagram.com/reel/CnrDKVVBxCO

Last year I didn't buy anything, but evidently that also meant I didn't motivate to do DD, so I am going to figure it out. I'm assuming you prefer a kit with some "guidance" from the cards to get you going rather than working from scratch with a traditional SB line? Do you need paper products or would you be ok going hybrid by printing some digitals? I don't want you to miss out on a project you enjoy because the main product provider isn't catering to your current aesthetic. I'm glad there is one place to look at everything. I hate going to different websites. It's such a hassle, isn't it? I'm going to need someone to make us a DD catalogue with every Christmas collection and kit out there so I can flip through it and make my choice will nonchalantly sipping on a frozen margarita like it's the early 2000s. 😁 I did not finish up the 2022 DD album. It was made to challenge myself to do different techniques, not neccesarily for memory keeping. Something that I wouldn't share with others. I think I'll work on finishing that up. I don't know about 2023. That's a fun way to approach DD! Do you feel like you want to make an "actual" DD this year using the techniques you learnt last year? Do you have ideas of stories you may want to record for all to see? I'm looking forward to working on my Dec album again this year, it's one of my favourite projects, and I'm really hoping someone puts out a kit or collection I love as I (seriously) need Christmas supplies. *David Attenborough voice* The promise of soon-to-be-revealed Christmas products attracts the rare in- actual-need-of-Christmas-supplies bird to the December Daily thread pond. This one, the Australis nativitatis indagator eagle, has flown in all the way from the Southern hemisphere to still its hunger.

Probably not the best looking ascetically, having to flip it in different directions to look at it the right way.

So happy to see this thread start!!!
I need to finish up last years DD. I made it to day 17, but then everyone in the house got sick and I totally lost my mojo to finish my album. Need to finish that up before I start ordering all my new AE goodies.
