I am still super indecisive on what I want to purchase for my album this year. I keep going back, and forth between buying Ali’s kit, or going a different route. I completely convince myself one way, and then a little while later I change it again. I don’t know why I can’t commit😂 Because it is August? I will change my mind 55 times between now and December.

“December me loves this so much” I can't unsee Cookie Monster now. /laugh Actually, this might work for me. My son loves Cookie Monster, so I'm sure there will be something Cookie Monster/Sesame Street happening in our house around Christmas. Thanks for the silly idea.

It’s funny- I first read it the Cookie Monster way and thought it was pretty Silly and not really Ali sounding and wondered whose influence it was. Lol Then when she read it/explained it as “December me” that is the only way I’m seeing it now and I like it. I use the phrase “____ me” often (work me, tipsy me, etc me) so I’ll probably lift “December me” to use somewhere as I’m not buying a product saying it.

I'm going back and forth on what I want to order, too.
The thing I keep thinking about as I'm looking at the products is something I heard Brandi Kincaid say in a podcast years ago.
She buys some product, has ideas about how she wants to use it, but then when it comes to sitting down and starting her page, she says, "Oh look, here's a piece of white cardstock."
This is so me! I love having the product for inspiration, but when it comes to it, I have a lot of white cardstock in my albums. And cut files I made myself. And tags from Office Depot. And trims from Joann's.
I don't need anything, but it sure is fun to shop for and think about ways to use it!
*Clarifying about Brandi - I think she is brilliant and has done some of my favorite DD pages ever. She makes magic from a piece of white cardstock!

My PL started January 2012 and when the kids were little, I had 4 albums per year. As they got older, I could fit it into 2 or 3. It's a lot of space to be taken up, but I worked so hard on the albums, I can't box them up. Obviously, I would if space became an issue. I have DD for every year since 2010 and they're a favorite, so they stay out all year. When you did PL for your kids, did you include December in project life, or do a separate album, or both? I've got 2 young kids and I was planning on doing DD this year as part of my project life album. But I know I fill up a 6x8 album to bursting normally with DD so I'm not sure how it would go as part of a larger album. I don't want to duplicate it all though! Decisions! I've ordered a bunch of Elle's Studio and I'm so excited for it!

DD was the magic of Christmas stuff --- the lights, the wrapping, etc. PL was more everyday stuff like the traffic ticket I got, or the new recipe I made that month. And for Christmas Day in PL, I did an overview where as DD was more specific.

I'm interested in all opinions for sure 😁 December is also end of the school year etc here so it definitely could work to do both project life and December Daily albums if I have the time and energy and patience. I feel like I'd end up with a lot of duplication because there's no way I wouldn't end up putting Santa visits or Christmas parades in my project life 😅

I’m another that does both and also have kids who finish school in December. December daily is about trying to capture what was different and what was the same about Christmas that year - I focus on family traditions we keep each year, and use the days without those stories to focus on stories specific for that year alone (do every year: family get together, kids opening gifts, end of year photo with teacher, movies we went to etc; do some years: swimming lesson photos, which friends we hung out with, random things that happened that December inc bushfire news etc).
Project life for me is more the specific stories and general December stories that didn’t make my dd album - pic of a weird bug I spotted, celebrities from childhood who passed, summer fun and school holidays photos

If anyone wants to sell the green chipboard phrases in the main kit, I'd be happy to buy them.
I've landed on my list and it's the least amount I've ever purchased. Tags, tabs, plastic numbers and a pen. I may still cave and get liz's kit, but let's see.

I've ordered a bunch of Elle's Studio and I'm so excited for it! I just don't do December in my PL album at all. It seems my PL album is usually bursting full by December. So I make my DD album as an add on to PL. With that said, I am a very simple scrapper. And I don't take a million pictures. Just enough to tell the story. So I make some extra pages even in my DD to cover the entire holiday.

All this talk about DD and this morning I was inspired to get out my 2021 and 2022 albums this morning and look at them over coffee. What a contrast between the two years! 2021 was very upbeat after coming out of the pandemic. And 2022 was very much centered around grief---finding joy amongst the sorrow. I'm so looking forward to what 2023 brings.

Much like mom said, I continued PL through the end of the year to put in the "every day" type stuff, but DD is for the December stories. ie: Elf on the Shelf shenanigans, Advent calendars, holiday baking, Christmas Day details. My PL would pick up the slack on the week after Christmas, too. Sometimes there would be overlap, like when the kids were in school and had a Mystery Reader or party, I might mention it in my PL, but the details would be for that day in DD. I also enjoy using more Christmas supplies, because I use my stash for the PL portion, but my newest DD stuff for my DD album. Then the next year that stuff could be used in PL and the new stuff in DD.

I am with the December-PL-is-different-from-DD gang.
PL is an everyday life summary project. DD allows a deep-dive into everything that coloured and flavoured your holiday season. You barely have to edit or make choices when it comes to which stories to tell. Nearly everything fits. You can go in depth with your words, interview others to get multiple POV of the same memory, keep a record of all kinds of details.
While there is occasionally some overlap, the two projects are very different in nature and feel as far as I'm concerned.

It's not perfect but it cut fine. There is a line that looks thicker than the rest but it didn't cut any differently.

And I am inconsistent on PL, and may go back and do some years that are not done yet and this is what I plan to do. Also thinking about making Senior year of HS albums for both kids and, again, would follow what mom suggests. It is so so fun to make Dec Daily a playful, magical, unique album (for me).

I did the math today and I’m around 250$ without international shipping. My first picks will be: Both extra paper packs Speciality journaling card (super cute) Canvas circles Plastic tag shapes Those 3 pouncers(?) Stencils Maybe: white 6x8 Album ( I really don’t need another one, because I have 2 unused fron last years) The giant die cut pack Red numbers Main kit Later, because no hurry to order stamps 6x8 number stamps 6x8 tag stamp like those with Embossing
I plan on doing a lot of mixed media this year, I’ll participate in artjournaladvent instagram hosted by raspberrybluesky and maraskreativstudio - i will do an altered Little golden Christmas book, that’s making me very excited about December right now.
Because I have enough paints, i will nou need any AE paints and those silk screens i only like half of the designs. But those pouncers look fun.
My weakness are stamp sets, because i like to stamp a lot, we‘ll see how much will hop into my cart 🤣 May be the tree and reef sets (thats fomo, for sure)

I think because I do not do PL, DD is exactly what goes into the kids albums.
I do 9x12 layouts either as a single page or as pockets. So first day of school, places we visited, holidays, pumpkin carving, decorating the tree, Santa Paws, school events, field trips, etc.
Because of that, the DD layouts I made also go into the kids albums - Christmas tree farm, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, lights drive, decorating the tree...
Excited to share those layouts since the are similar just bigger. I loved the 9x12 regular kids spreads sometimes more than the 6x8 as I had more space to have fun.

I can see why this would be a preference for you. Sounds like it really is the best way for you to scrapbook Christmas season without doing it two or three different times. Now that my kids are older and we are not doing daily things and I am only scrapbooking them when I visit with them, the DD has been a good format for me. Or course I started in 2021, the same year as I started PL. There really is no set way to do any of this. I am just glad everyone finds their way.

My PL is mostly 12x12 spreads and I would include all the normal life stuff in December. DD will have all the holiday stuff, I just roughly counted and I have around 18-20 standard things I capture every December, with room for new photo opportunities. The one thing that might get duplicated is the tree(s), or more specifically, the cats with the trees.

I feel like I'd end up with a lot of duplication because there's no way I wouldn't end up putting Santa visits or Christmas parades in my project life 😅 My brain was very frustrated with having 2 incomplete albums - the PL was missing most of the December stories and, to a lesser extent, the DD was missing all the everyday life stuff. I ended up duplicating a lot or being confused when I went back to look at what happened in Dec that year. I never found a great balance when I was doing both. Maybe it I had left a note/summary page in the PL reminding myself to look in DD for these stories? but that still felt incomplete to me.

I’m looking through Ali’s Instagram Stories tonight to see some of the shop items and someone please explain the wording of this tag to me: “December me loves this so much” What does this mean and why is the wording so terrible?!? My guess is it’s a mistake and rather than eat the cost, they are including them, hoping people won’t complain too much because this is terrible. It is late and it’s been an extremely long week so maybe I’m missing something? OK, me actually prefer this in Cookie Monster speak hehehe But rant incoming: this is a good example of how line breaks can mean something when we're reading fancied up text (insert familiar rant about splitting words in the wrong place here). If it had said December me / loves this / so much it would've been a lot easier to understand. Or maybe use a hyphen to join the words December-me. Right-now-me often leaves notes for future-me. Or August Me is shopping for December Me. Ali also has appalling use of random capital letters that obscure rather than clarify the meaning. december ME loves THIS so much? The emphasis should be on the LOVES most of the time, although an argument could be made for THIS. But not ME, unless you are said Muppet. Design should make things clearer, not just pretty. I am no fan of Cathy Zielske but I feel like someone like her with an actual design education wouldn't have made something like this.

joblackford you put into words exactly what I was trying to say! Thank you! It is an unclear and (I think) confusing sentiment that *someone* on the AE team should have noticed and corrected.

I went through my Christmas stash last night, I have quite a few papers that will work with the Paislee Press kit. My goodness though, the PP kit is SO similar to last year. Wow. But it fits my aesthetic best of everything.
My wish list is: PP mini kit 6x8 album Die cut labels Die cut bundle Plastic Tag set Wood stars Felt number
Debating on the A Very Merry Stamp set. Nothing original in the words but cleverly designed. I’m also mulling the Circles set. I love the clean lines, clean font. I tend to use lots of tags in my DD and could easily make this into a tag. Is this on anyone else’s list?
I kinda want the red sweatshirt just to have some of Ali’s beautiful handwriting that I miss so much. But I don’t wear red much.
While my list is a lot, it’s much less than previous years.

Someone talk me down from buying that $35 banner. It doesn't match my house style at all so I don't really have a spot for it, and I think it's spendy for what it is. But it's so darn cute.

After seeing Liz’s kit, I was pumped and for sure thought I was going to order tomorrow, and add an album cause, when in Rome. But over the weekend, I opened up my SB order that included 49&market Christmas. I forgot that I not only ordered the pp, but also the ephemera. Oh my, it is jam packed with a lot of little pieces. I definitely don’t need to order anything else, other than an album. And since shipping is $13, I’m leaning towards SB.com’s green velvet again. I know it was discussed above, but does anyone have an idea of how many pages fit into a 2.36 spine? (Compared to Ali’s 2.5).
