I can't wait to see what you did. I also worked on this project yesterday. So far I have the wreath and think I will put on a background paper that is the same as one of the wreath strips. Still debating what to put in the middle.... I had problems getting the strips to stay around the circle. As I kept building them on top of each other, they kept moving down and down, into the circle (if that makes sense). I stopped about 1/3 of the way around and then started over at the other side. So my middle is more like an oval. Because of that I had to add some strips to the back side (not folded) to make up for some empty areas. I'm adhering it to pattern paper and covered up the center so it doesn't matter what it looks like. But it did NOT look like hers. Ha! But not a fail either. I'm super happy with it. I'll take a photo tonight. If you're adhering it to pattern paper and don't need to see the other side, I think this would be easier to build just using strips (not folded) and sticking them down. I thought it would be cute to make ornaments but that's not going to happen. My skills are lacking.

I’m curious why that would be? I’m trying to imagine doing it that way and it doesn’t make sense in my head. I assumed from looking at completed projects of it that it was built on a page.

So it sounds like the wreath is built on itself and not built into a paper? The foundation is a circle. Like an open circle, a ring. I used two punches to make mine. Then you fold the paper in half and stick it through the circle (that already has adhesive on it. If you're not going to put it onto transparent paper, then it would be much easier to not fold and just glue the slivers onto a circle base. If you look closely, you can see the folded edge on hers. It looks very cool. Her inner circle fits right inside her rind. But mine was a mess so I just covered it up.

I had looked at hers closely and thought there was something peculiar about how the inner ring paper edges looked, really blunt, but I decided it was just the way the edges of thick cardstock photographed. Did she do it that way so it would be double sided?

I am stuck on the circles too. I didn't end up using the little table of contents strips last year. This year I am thinking those might make good journaling lines.

Did she do it that way so it would be double sided? No cause she used Ali's paper which is always single sided (which I love because it's often hard to choose). I used double sided paper from my scraps.

Sorry to return to the seasonal drinks conversation, but having spent a couple of days lusting after gingerbread chai etc, imagine my delight to get the UK Caffe Nero's Christmas offerings just now (and those cups *swoon*!!) That millionaires hot chocolate sounds DELISH. And the chocolate cream on top looks like straight chocolate frosting and I love that lol

I’m enjoying product play. I purchased when it was $5 off + I used a 20% coupon so I feel I am going to get my money’s worth. I have found an idea or more than one idea to use from each of the four days so far. Plus I just think it’s fun for me to have a video to look forward to each day in November. Same here. Practically word for word. I look forward to seeing new lessons every morning. I’ve already used one of the ideas and if this week wasn’t so crafty busy I would have done more. I’m happy I bought it and having fun playing along.

Thoughts on today’s PP lesson (stencils/gelli plates)? Not for me but I admire people who aren’t afraid to jump in and get messy.

Completely random but the last five books I’ve read are all set in December so will be a story in this years dd - the new Tessa Bailey (wreck the halls), 3 Matthew Reilly books (think Indiana Jones style adventure with ancient sites etc which I love), and homecoming by Kate Morton which is an awesome slow burn mystery story (I LOVE this author!)…. The last two are Aussie authors, and although what happens in the books is not really “christmassy” I really enjoyed reading them! I’ve read a few good Christmas/December books this year. My favorites were Bright Lights, Big Christmas by Mary Kay Andrews which is set on a tree lot in Brooklyn and is so full of Christmas feels and A December to Remember by Jenny Bayliss featuring three estranged half sisters bringing back the village Christmas festival to fulfill the terms of their late father’s will. Other good ones: The Faking Game by Portia McTavish (fake boyfriend trope) Through the Snow Globe by Annie Rains (reliving the same day trope). Love, Holly by Emily Stone The Christmas Wager by Holly Cassidy (she’s a grump, he’s Christmas sunshine, who will win the annual town Holiday Games?)

I was actually disappointed. It looks like a hot mess and you can barely tell what design stencil she used. Agree 100%. This was me throughout the first video: I couldn't even watch the second video. I had a different take. I enjoyed it for the idea. I was not familiar with gelly plates and now I want to try it. That alone was worth it for me. Were they messy- uh yeah. But still, it was the idea for me- to make papers with the gelly plates and then manipulate into some other shapes and I’m totally going to try it. I also appreciated that for me, she was more “polished” presenting her videos- as in I could listen to her without cringing. A couple of the last ones for me were rough. And the one with window? I could not get through those videos and gave up. It seemed to go on and on for cutting a damn window like it was rocket science. So this lesson ends up in my usable pile even if I don’t want to copy her project if that makes sense.

For me it was interesting to see a new technique. I have heard of those plates before but never investigated. It's not a technique I want to bother with as it is very messy and I think I can get a similar look from using really watery paint and stencils. No need to buy one more thing.
At least it was different. I was a bit disappointed when one lesson showed us how to put cards in pockets.

You are not selling me on Product Play, I was just about to buy it then read the last few days of opinions on it.
ImIf I’m really good at seeing a photo of a page or layout and recreating it usually without problem, should I take this class?

I’m still ok with my purchase but it was like $16 or something with my coupon and sale.

There has been nothing groundbreaking that most people couldn't figure out a way to recreate on their own. Especially since Ali is literally sharing the *exact*contributors projects on all social media platforms in real time. You might miss out on a Tree digital file, but Im sure you can figure out a way to recreate that.

No. It started out great but the last 2-3 lessons have been less than stellar. I got it on sale and with a coupon so hopefully about 1/2 of the lessons will be good so I feel like I didn't get burned by both this and the terrible hybrid class. Just follow the Instagram accounts and you'll see pictures of everything being demonstrated in the class. It's unlikely that you won't be able to figure out how to make them on your own. I'm really hoping they're doing some sort of curve thing where they start out strong, put the weakest stuff in the middle, then finish with a bang.

Aussie peas: if you're looking for Paige's line Spotlight have some of the pieces and it's currently on sale. The 12x12 paper pad is just over $4, the 6x8 was something ridiculous like $2.10. They only have a small part of the range, online shows the paper pads, ephemera, alpha, washi, and sticker book.

I was really enjoying the first couple of days of Product Play but I have been really disappointed the last few days.
I really liked yesterday’s blog post from Kelly Ishmael about story telling as an empty nester. I could really relate to a lot that she shared.

Jennie Rey is offering a class on Big Picture Classes. I took some classes from BPC back in the day, before they went to a subscription model. I am thinking of getting a free trial just so I can view Jennie's class: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CzY6r52oqKi

I was contemplating buying Product Play but have decided against it. I'm seeing the projects on IG and so far nothing's interested me enough to buy the class. The real gems this year, I think, were the blog posts. Pam inspired me so much this year, she always has me thinking about the products in a new light.
I'm really happy with my DD2022. Getting to the embellishment stage and it's so much fun.
Does anyone have a good source for scripted numbers (digital or physical product)? I am looking for "three" for example, not "3", but ideally in cursive with ligatures. I might end up typing it out and cutting out with my Cameo but I was hoping to just purchase something.

I have an only child who is in 10th grade and I see the empty nest looming. I am not looking forward to seeing her go. Kelly's post was really wonderful.

I just watched all of A Storm for Christmas on Netflix and it's really good. Two thumbs up.
It is a Norwegian holiday series. The voiceovers aren't too bad.

One of my favorite parts of DD is Ali highlighting so many different creators. There is one in particular on today’s reel, nehlan.has.a.plan. Oh my are her pages gorgeous! A great way to find new creators to follow for inspiration.
