so Jennie’s stuff was out for me Before prep day I saw Jennie's ornament pocket and loved it so much. I took a screenshot of the ornament from the website and made it 8.25" tall and printed it out in draft b&w mode on my printer and used it as a pattern. I printed two. I used one for the base/background. Then the second I used to cut the little gold thing on top and the bottom half for the pocket. I will stitch the pocket onto the ornament with my machine. I cut the top gold thing out of some gold cardstock I bought last year. I think it looks great. It's not perfect at all but that is just fine. The first snow globe lady (not Nolana) also explained how to make the arch without silhouette. Just draw your sides, then find a bowl or something round to trace to make the arch part. It might not be perfect but it's totally doable. There are also png files in the downloads that you can print out as patterns. Anything a machine can cut you can cut by hand. I'm trying to embrace the messiness of it a little bit. It is handmade, afterall. (I am trying talk myself into it). I don't have a gold foil pen thing but I do have embossing powder and stamps and will make some of those numbers Jennie made. It's a cool idea. You could also do that with the joy pattern on vellum. Anyway, I hope you're not too disappointed in the cut stuff that was going on. Back in the day I had a pen that had the clear ink you use with embossing powder. So you could hand draw anything and then emboss. I do not know if they still exist but a super easy way to add a little glitz and a heck of a lot cheaper than the gold foil pen. I think this is the pen you mention above: buddlycrafts.com/au/shop/product-1747/tsukinenko-versamark-watermark-pen/

Yes! Thank you. I will get a new one as mine is long dried up and gone. I totally forgot the "versamark" part. When these are good a juicy, you can do some cool stuff.

Oh, that VersaMarker pen looks cool! Going on my Christmas list!
My most used new product from the new collections so far this year - that banner/flag page from Ali. Total shocker - I didn't think I'd use it all, but I'm loving cutting these out and sticking them on every page.

Lastly, on the foil quilling, I did watch an Amy Gretchen video on it, but I would love to know from folks in this group what system you recommend and products. I want to know what I am getting into before I take the plunge. I have had a Minc for a while, so I get the basics of foiling and have a stash of foil. I just want to know more about the learning curve + essential products to get a good result. I have a Cameo 3 that I would be using. I have the WRMK foil quill. I've made various things with it including a bunch of bridal shower invitations that turned out just beautifully, and it was very easy to use. I don't recall having any problem setting it up, but it was a few years ago. I did a few tests using the various sizes of pens but that's about it. I use fonts I download for free, usually. I bought mine years ago, when they first came out, this is the set that I own: a.co/d/bzK6HjfI use it with their foils: a.co/d/ae5NF41Basically you just insert the quill as you would a blade, and foil instead of cut. I don't use a metal mat with it. This is the video I used to help me learn how to foil quill: youtu.be/ilZMPv47k70?si=sAYSLX3h9lqUekp4I use it with a Cameo 4 and a Portrait 3.

Add me to the list of people who would love to do fouling but am overwhelmed with choices. Can the foil quill do small text? Like if I want to journal in the foil?
one thing I need to say about the prep day, all the uneven stitching is a complete turn off for me. I’m not a perfectionist by any stretch, but the crooked stuff jumps out at me.

So far I'm loving Prep Day! I wasn't able to watch at the time but that's ok. I can't work that fast, anyways.
What I like to to do is go thru each lesson and screenshot the instructions and download the digitals. I make a folder for each hour and then put it all into one folder, AE DD Prep Day 2023. It's nice to have it all together for when I look thru it years later.
I'm finally doing Ali's letter to my family. I love this & I had a bag already so it was perfect. My sewing is awful, I'm hoping I get better as I go along. I need things to be straight and it's anything but.

A week and a half til December! Where you guys at with everything? I've played a teensy bit with papers but really get into it once the days are happening because I'm afraid of using something up and then not actually using that foundation page, y'know? I did pull out my stamps and started matching colors with products but I really need to clean my desk again this upcoming weekend so I've got space and room to get messy. Should also check and make sure I have ink + paper for printing. I decided kinda late that I want to read actual Christmas themed books this year since I rarely do so I'm putting my usual things on hiatus once the 1st happens. I made my list and am putting in holds with my library/checking Hoopla & Spotify to figure out the logistics and where I should get things since I'm a digital girl and don't like buying books. Spoiler cut of my list in case readers are interested -- Do you guys remember I think it was 2020 when In a Holidaze was practically in EVERYONES December Daily? I haven't read it and don't think I plan to, but I can definitely draw the cover based on the number of times I saw a photo of someone holding it next to their Christmas tree or with a holiday mug in a DD flipthrough I think we'll see a mix of Window Shopping by Tessa Bailey, Lovelight Farms by BK Borison and A December to Remember by Jenny Bayliss as that book this year. Anyways the rest of my list I probably won't get all the way through Actual Hallmark Movies in book form --The Mistletoe Inn by Richard Paul Evans (actually every one of his 'mistletoe' books has become a Hallmark movie but I really love this one and watch it every year) Dashing Through the Snow by Debbie Macomber The First Love Cookie Club by Lori Wilde (A Kismet Christmas from last year that I thought was super cute!) Based on the blurb alone would watch asap if it were a Hallmark movie -- The Christmas Wager by Holly Cassidy How to Ruin the Holidays by Becky Monson The Twelve Dates of Christmas by Jenny Bayliss Fake Dating? The answer is always yes --The Christmas Swap by Talia Samuels Faking Christmas by Cindy Steel (plus work nemesis + enemies to lovers, basically the book I'm most excited for tbh!) Baggage Claim by Juliana Smith Want to read just for the name -Dead and Gondola by Ann Claire (I mean come ON!) Tis the Season for Revenge by Morgan Elizabeth Wouldn't make a Hallmark movie but has holiday settings -The Christmas Guest by Peter Swanson (also a novella, so quick!) The Family Game by Catherine Steadman A novella that seems to be The Hating Game but make it a bookstore at Christmas - The Mistletoe Motive by Chloe Liese 15 books and 2 novellas seems a stretch but we'll see lol

Digital designers don't release Christmas kits until November so I'm just now building up a stash of new goodies for this year's album. I know a Christkindl market kit is coming soon, and I'm very excited to use that. I just worked out the holiday schedule with my kids so I'll take this week to plan what Christmas things we're going to do when & then I can start planning what kits I'm going to use with which stories. I've been feeling extra-festive this year so I already bought a fun Christmas cup, this Christmas tree for my office, and cute earrings like this pair.

There’s more goodness being shared on the DD IG page. Julieplayswithpaper (I know I butchered her name) has a beautiful spin on the trees, using colored plastic sheets. It’s just gorgeous!

Yes, you can do detiled work with it - you'd need the finest-tipped pen, though - there are 3 sizes. This is the shower invitation that I foiled - the writing is all foiled with the foil quill: imgur.com/nKLtIt6

During Pam’s lesson on Prep Day it was interesting to read so many people comment that they gave away their alcohol inks or needed to find where they put them. Ali said she gave hers away and added more in her Amazon cart.

It's on. I turned on frndly again. Got the mega package at 9.99/month and will do two months.
I've recorded everything I can from the Hallmark list (tore it out of a magazine like last year). I wasn't able to record anything that starts Dec. 1 or later, or, for some odd reason, Under the Christmas Sky from 10/22 or Joyeaux Noel from 10/29. But I found them both online and wrote down when they will air so I can record when I'm able.
I also made a list of the Lifetime movies that are new this year and recorded the ones I could. Here they are since Lifetime doesn't provide a pdf like Hallmark does: • Christmas Plus One (In favorites) • Planes, Trains and Christmas Trees. X • Christmas at the Chalet X • Laughing all the Way X • Ladies of the ‘80s. Dec 2 • Mistletoe Match Dec 3 • Yes, Chef Christmas. Dec 10 • The Holiday Proposal Plan. Dec 16 • A christmas intern. Dec 16 • Mery Magic Christmas Dec 17 • Mom’s Christmas Boyfriend. Dec 23 The X is for the ones I recorded (one is in my favorites). The rest I have dates for when they will air so I can easily record later.
Hope this helps. They released a scary movie and I am not into that so I kept it off the list.

After seeing the prep day thing, I wanted to play around to get that same effect. It's lovely! I have not had any luck finding inexpensive coloured plastic sheets on Amazon here in Canada, so I'll go the alcohol ink route, too. I have a few Halloween colours so I'll have to add some reds and darker greens to make it super festive.

Ugh. I just finished Where are you Christmas. The whole time I was thinking how bad these movies are then I'm going through tissues at the end.
Why? What magic spell are they using?
The first scene was such a bad CGI or green screen it was ridiculous. Like they couldn't find a different location or fake something. It couldn't have been more than 1/2 day of shooting.
I'm looking most forward to Never Been Chris'd.

A week and a half til December! Where you guys at with everything? I am making cards for the swap on the GS board so I really need to get those finished and into the mail if they are to have any chance of arriving before Christmas. I hope to make some time this weekend to finish the cards, then clean off my desk and put together my kit. I haven't scrapped much in the last 6 months or so but this is my favourite project and I'm looking forward to making things again.

AE has 30% off the shop on everything except DD 2023 things w/ friday30. Works on older classes, so if there's a previous Product Play you've been looking at might as well get some $$ off! I know the shipping is always the absolute worst but there's some older DD things in the sale section too. The 2021 Paislee Press kit comes to $15 and they've still got that IACB notebook bundle. I'm looking at the 2021 PP WITL and wondering if I want to grab it at $14 or wait and see if the sale gets better this weekend. There's also the OLW journal/folio from this year and last if you're looking to do that in the upcoming year.

Santa Summit review:
I found this delightful and quite good. It stars Hunter King who I just love because she was on the Young and the Restless (my family's soap). She and her sister were on Nailed It and they were hilarious. They seem like real people, very genuine.
It also stars that very hot actor who plays Brady (?) in Virgin River. He's better in Virgin River as broody with something to hide. He's a little too jolly in this and I found it a turn off. He's still freaking attractive.
Cute premise.

Now I remember why last year I decided I wouldn’t buy product play (I won it last year). We’ve had quite a run of projects that have not been the best. And so many shaker pockets. I haven’t even finished watching some of the videos as it wasn’t worth it.

I liked it, but I'm sure you're right on your prediction. If you find yourself in a jam for holds, you might add "Kiss Her Once for Me" by Alison Cochrun. I'm about 3/4 through and enjoying it. I'm waiting on "A Holly Jolly Ever After", "Wreck the Halls", and "A Winter in New York" from the library. Otherwise, I'll just re-read one of my Sarah J. Maas series until it comes available. Please post if you find anything amazing!
