I really haven't seen anything that I love from the AE previews. I kinda had already decided on a different route this year anyway. I ordered the 49th & Market Christmas Wishes line and I'm going to do my own resin album covers. I did something similar for 2020 and I love how it turned out so that's the plan for this year. I might see about some embellishments or stamps from AE but I'll see.

Hi friends! I'm loving catching up on this thread and seeing all the thoughts on the various products. I am going to be working with AE products again (but also missing Crate Paper... I loved mixing that in the past few years). But, I plan to share lots of inspiration for using AE products! I asked on my instagram, but wanted to ask you all too... are there any particular products that you are stumped on and would want to see inspo for? Any particular types of inspiration you're looking for as far as using the products?
Happy DD season everyone!

I love the idea of pockets, but I've stopped buying any because I don't seem to use them. I still have a stash of heart pockets from one of the story kit add-ons, and I've only ever used one. If you decide to do 6X8, it would be nice to see how you modify the 10X8 papers for a smaller album. Looking forward to seeing your work!

I loved watching your DD videos last year @legal_lady! The little index collage you created was so fun to me. 🙂
I can’t really think of any tutorials I’m iso. I do find those little pocket things to be a little goofy to deal with. (Especially how some of the past designs had text on them so that if the pocket was used it would obscure the writing).

Happy DD season everyone! More ideas on how to use or incorporate those cardstock die cut wreath pieces would be great - I love me a page with a wreath on it for some reason, it’s like my dd fetish 🤣 I’m another person who’d love inspiration on what to put in the ornament pockets and how to use items like that as I love them but don’t use them as I don’t know they to put in them 😁

I’ve never bought DD products on release day. What usually sells out first? Albums? Stamps? Trying to come up with a strategy. There is almost always the one odd duck that sells out super quickly like honeypea said. Very hard to predict but it's a fun game to play ahead of release day! If a 6x8 album is a stand-out, that might just sell out very early on as well. This year, that might be the white with the gold stars? Depending on how good Liz's mini is, be quick. It looks like several people in this thread are considering hers instead of the main. We'll know next Friday if that one is in danger zone. Often, a stamp set or two also sell out very early on. The 2PR DD-ers will try their best to figure out what'll likely go fast once we see the full line-up. Hang around and you should get a good idea of what is looking extra popular.

The sentiment labels are the hugest no due to how they are justified and the size of the text that I have ever seen in my life. They are what I was trying to talk about in my previous post. They can't even justify (ha) this decision by claiming it's because labels are often cut off on one side to tuck right next to a photo or journaling because they'd have mixed up different alignments to use the labels on different sides. Ali's been on a stitching binge lately so I'm guessing all that space is to allow for hand stitching as her attachment of choice.

I might see about some embellishments or stamps from AE but I'll see. 49th and Market has really been catching my eye lately! I briefly toyed with the idea of making my own resin album covers but the last thing I need is a whole new set of craft supplies! I might try cutting some hardboard and making my own that way. Right now I'm kinda all over the place with the possibilities!

I'm going to do my own resin album covers. Tell me more, tell me more! I have a 6x8-ish cover mould sitting in my AliExpress cart but I wonder if the 6 holes align with the AE page protectors or not (and whether the finished cover is big enough to properly protect the page protectors). Any brand you'd recommend for the cover moulds? How much does it cost in resin to make one set of covers? I'm really itching to try making my own. Just need someone to push me off the resin cliff!

I have to admit, the Elle’s Studio kit is winning me over! The outline numbers, labels, papers, and the Carols stamp set are all coming home to me!

I think last year’s kit had some blue in it and so happy this year’s doesn’t. I’m working with last years kit right now for my 2018 DD. There’s a lot of blue, but I planned around it to make it work. Just received my ACOT order with 49&market Christmas, I decided that’s what I’m using for this year and I didn’t want to chance it selling out. I was also searching for binder mechanisms on Amazon to make an album. The ones with 2 inch rings are $22 for 2, so I think I might as well buy a premade album.

Either Elle’s Studio with stuff I already own and need to use or printing off digital supplies from Christmas Magic and doing that. Either way, the numbers will be coming home with me for sure!

I’ve never bought DD products on release day. What usually sells out first? Albums? Stamps? Trying to come up with a strategy. This may seem silly but my strategy is to triage my items. I put them in the order that I most want, then buy like 3 at a time (3 items, not 3 of each thing I want). That way I've got in my box what I want the most before the stuff I don't *need* sells out. Since you can add to your box as many times as you want during the period, there's no reason to try to add everything all at once. But the peas are right. The most random things sell out. I would expect that green album to sell out since people on the FB page are really loving it. But you really never know. And the last couple of years, they've had a good amount of most products and only 1-2 things have sold out that first day. are there any particular products that you are stumped on and would want to see inspo for? Glad to see you back! I love your style. I would love to see some super fun things done with that banner page. That has some potential for sure. Also ideas for 6X8. Those little pennants are cool and I want to see them used in a new way. I have several from the travel line (I think) and Halloween and I haven't used them yet. I bought the hearts last year and attached them to a piece of pattern paper. Then I cut circle tags to pull in and out. I called it Elf Antics and it was about some things our elves were doing. Journaling was on the back of one. I might do the same thing this year with a different shape inside the ornament. Like I'll probably find other ornaments shapes and cut them on my silhouette to put inside. Maybe make this the page about some new ornaments. We get a couple of new ones every year. http://instagram.com/p/CnTFSMRu2TR

Doodlebug leftovers RAK: Just a sprinkling of things from a collection a couple of years old. No cutesy faces on things that shouldn't have faces. Some of the stickers are the planner (thin) ones, some are the proper cardstock weight stickers. I've moved some of the stickers onto sticker backing paper (they might need a touch of glue when you stick them on a page) and I will consolidate the rest so it would fit in a business envelope. I'm happy to send this anywhere in the world. Pls tag me in a comment and I'll pick someone if there's interest. Doodlebug Christmas cards by jo.blackford, on Flickr

Love that super graphic design work with the three superposed stitched heart pockets, blemon ! Very fun and bold. 😍 I don't have any of those AE stitched pockets but if I did, I'd probably get my X-Acto knife out and use the pockets as slots for extra long journaling strips to pull out. Cut a slit into the cardstock/PP, same slit on the back panel of the pocket that would be superposed on top, leaving the front of the pocket intact. Create a journaling strip to slide in with an extra attachment on the front to "leave" inside the pocket (like a small photo of the person you're talking about that is attached - stitched, folded flap, stapled, etc.) right at the top of the long journaling strip left hidden inside the slot that you'd pull out to read the story. It'd be a nice interactive element. Does this make any sense? That was my immediate idea on how I'd use an AE icon pocket when I first saw them. Could be a fun way to document your favourite family ornaments this year if you're buying the main kit.

I think some shop items will be the first to sell out. Last year it was the stencils within a couple minutes (I got those) and those large plastic trees which seemed random! I think the floral album was next. Stencils will Probably go quickly again since many people missed them and then people may have FOMO about them this year. I won’t get them- I don’t need more plus I barely used them last year. I plan to use them more this year, though.

I've got to say I'm kind of really liking that so many are considering non AE supplies for DD. I'm usually one who loves Ali's vibe but just can't get my head around her products for my own use. I'm looking forward to the sharing this year having more variety. So, I'm glad to see people choosing alternative products for DD. I preordered the Simple Stories Dear Santa line. It visually appealed to me but I also felt like the vintage feel will go with some touches on the past (Esther) and the fact that this will be my grandchild's first Christmas. So we need a little Santa too. I ordered this album too

I will probably regret this (based on the CS), but I'm holding out for the PP release. None of the sneaks for any company have done anything for me, minus Paige Evans. While I'd like to say I can be patient for her album that's been delayed, I'm not sure I can. I'm leaning towards another plush SB.com 6x8 album and can use my stash if PP disappoints.

As requested by sleepingbooty I went to check out the resin album I had previously done. The mould I used is around 6x8 but really it's a smidgen under and the holes are just a bit off of AEs page protectors so they won't work with the resin covers. For me I didn't care because I did the whole album without pp and had more interactive components than I usually do. My 2020 album was white and gold but the plans this year probably will include greens and I think I'd like to embed some type of embellishments or title right in the resin inside of on the outside. My album moulds just came from Amazon so I'd have to go back to check the brand. Hope this helps.

Finally got a chance to watch the entire live. I actually am liking the main kit. I really enjoy mixing prior DD kits with the new one and I think there are several complementary items to mix together. I like the colors and some of the newer patterns like the ornaments. Agree the Joy paper could have been executed way better but I will still use it.
I am ready to see the rest of the collection as I was looking at last years and will be curious if they do the usual options or some new things.

I became more AE in my crochet life. I buy kits for each blanket I make and give away all the leftovers when I’m done. I don’t have the bandwidth or skill to figure out ways to reuse the leftover yarn. It’s very freeing to start fresh for each project and not manage stash. I’m the same in my knitting life, the only time I keep any yarn is if I don’t already have some in that thickness/material to practice new patterns with. Also, I let scrapbooking teach me a good lesson when I took up knitting, and I only allowed myself so many “oh, pretty” purchases and planned projects so my stash is much more manageable. I wouldn’t even call it a stash! Jewelry making too. eta: Her right thumbnail is painted/buffed but her left one isn’t. I can’t be the only one that’s driving a little batty? I am? *slinks away*. Not a critique of her at all, just my AR coming out to play each time I scroll through the photos to decide if I’m purchasing anything.

needtime2scrap Thanks so much for the info. 🙏 I'm still going back and forth on the cover mould but I love the idea of custom covers. Might buy the smaller 4x4 cover mould to try a smaller format first. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for your DD this year! jeremysgirl Congratulations on finding your DD 2023 aesthetic and one that fits both honouring Esther and celebrating your new grandchild. dawnnikol You've had good luck with the KP and PP Christmas products for years. The CS situation is becoming a little more worrisome but since you haven't had a major crush on anything else, I think it's worth taking this calculated risk. Hoping for a sneak very soon! 🤞

Did I miss the memo on Pink Fresh Studio? Are they not doing paper releases anymore? They released their Christmas line today and it looks like there's no paper, just stamps, dies, etc. I haven't paid attention to them in a while, so it's probably just that I'm hopelessly outdated on my PF news.
