I suspect they won’t be able to use that argument now because you know the right is going to be jumping up and down and screaming we told you Joe Biden was corrupt.

Why is right..
This after FIVE YEARS!!!
House judiciary committee hair Jordan has responded that Weiss is compromised and Jordan does not expect to change his committee's pursuit of the Biden impeachment investigation.
me: In other words he is calling Weiss corrupt...
Interesting that TFG. complains that after the 2.5 years of investigation it should be over..
Disregarding that the Hunter investigation has gone on for five years...

Why? Because further plea negotiations failed. Trial is now being proposed by prosecutors.
IMO, Garland’s decision is probably for the best, whatever the outcome, because this saga needs to end. The GOP is not going to let this go because come hell or high water, they’re going to link Joe to Hunter’s activities, absence of evidence notwithstanding. It’s like a war of attrition now between Dems and the GOP over something that has absolutely nothing to do with gov’t. It’s sucking up way too much oxygen in the political arena and a drag on Biden’s campaign. It has to end.

I have no problem with a non-partisan investigation of Hunter Biden. If he did anything illegal, charge him. I wish that this would appease the Republicans, but it won't. They're like a dog with a bone and will never let it go. We are never going to hear the end of Hunter Biden and allegations of corruption. Even after Joe Biden is out of office cleared of any wrongdoing (I have absolute confidence he will be), they're not going to drop it. It will be like Hillary's e-mails or Benghazi, we will never hear the end of it. At least it's not an October surprise and a month before the election.

I'm so tired of the whataboutisms and false allegations of 2 tiered justice systems. Republicans will still try to spin this as the White House protecting Hunter, though.

They’ll do what they’ve always done. They already believe Weiss is in cahoots with Biden. You and I and others know how ridiculous that is. A career US Atty, appointed by a Republican, would sacrifice his longstanding reputation so he can protect Hunter?! There’s no talking sense to any of them. I support Garland in this decision because I’m bloody tired of this issue. Five years. Jesus.

So it starts... Good old GOP. Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed David Weiss as special counsel to oversee the investigation into Hunter Biden -- but Rep. James Comer (R-KY) is still not happy.FOX News' Chad Pergram reports that Comer lashed out at Garland for appointing a special prosecutor to investigate the president's son, despite the fact that such an appointment makes it more likely that Biden will face prison time for his alleged misdeeds. This move by Attorney General Garland is part of the Justice Department’s efforts to attempt a Biden family coverup in light of the House Oversight Committee’s mounting evidence of President Joe Biden’s role in his family’s schemes selling 'the brand,' for millions of dollars to foreign nationals," Comer said, according to Pergram. "Let’s be clear what today’s move is really about. The Biden Justice Department is trying to stonewall congressional oversight as we have presented evidence to the American people about the Biden family’s corruption." www.rawstory.com/james-comer-2663359031/

I am playing catch-up, as I missed the news this morning. And I’m not clear about what this means. But if it helps to end this tiresome story, why not? Although for Republicans, the sun will never set on the topic of Hunter Biden.

Let me get this straight. Appointing a special counsel who is a trump appointed attorney to investigate Hunter Biden is a Biden Family cover up. It was done because of “mounting” evidence the Republicans have repeatedly claim they don’t really have. Got it!

Is it normal for a private citizen to be investigated in this way? If so, then I have no issue with it and welcome an investigation. However, no matter the outcome, the right will whine that it was unfair.
Obviously, this is going to be this election-cycle's Benghazi and "but her emails".

A coverup? This is truly extraordinary. I mean, our country is over two centuries old so, of course, we’ve had a lot of political drama. But even by that measure, this drama is exceptional.
In the past, the GOP was howling that Garland is protecting Joe because he was not making Weiss a special counsel. Now, Garland gives them what they want and these baboons howl even louder claiming it’s now a coverup. WTF. It’s like being stuck east of a rock and west of a hard place.
Ukraine is still fighting for its very existence and we have over two dozen humanitarian crises in the world. Over here in La-La Land, our politicians are exchanging fire over a freakin’ private citizen who has never even held public office. And our tax dollars are financing this farce!
This is probably why some countries look at ours and think, “This republic thing ain’t really a great idea, is it?”

They have witnesses with documented evidence that Weiss told them "he did not have the authority to do" what needed to be done. With 5 other people corroborating that he said that. In writing. Then publicly, Weiss' story changed. This is NOT someone putting his career at risk to protect Hunter. What is more likely is this is someone PROTECTING his career by protecting someone.

TFG now denies he ever appointed David Weiss as US Attorney ... Donald Trump late Friday night denied that he appointed the man now serving as special counsel in the Hunter Biden case, despite the fact that he was assigned during Trump's own administration. "David Weiss was picked by the two Democrat Senators from Delaware under 'Blue Slip.' He would not have been picked by me," Trump said on Friday. "But I have a great idea. Why don’t they use Deranged Jack Smith. Weiss has been investigating Hunter for 4 years, giving him the 'sweetheart' deal of all sweetheart deals. But a brilliant Judge in Delaware saw through it all. Now, I read, the Department of Injustice wants a new Judge and Jurisdiction. But so do I, with far stronger reasons than Hunter & Crooked Joe. MAGA!!!"
Trump is currently limited from disclosing certain information related to his criminal elections conspiracy case, but the order hasn't kept Trump from insulting prosecutors. www.rawstory.com/trump-slams-trump-appointed-special-counsel/But wikipedia says different.... David Charles Weiss (born 1956) is an American attorney. He was nominated by Donald Trump to be the United States Attorney for the United States District Court for the District of Delaware, and has served in that office since February 22, 2018.[1]

Weiss was nominated by Trump on the recommendation and approval of both Delaware democratic Senators Carper and Coons.
