I just check Medical (a friends family lives there) and of the places I've searched that was to highest rain fall predicted right now (about 3 inches) and max wind was 15 mph. Really hoping we don't actually get a hurricane. But Definitely will be getting a rare rain storm in August! I just scrolled through and I see 35-42 mph wind early Monday morning. I really hope that doesn’t happen. We see downed trees snd fences when wind is in the teens. I wasn’t expecting to see that. A lot can change between now and then snd I hope it doesn’t get that bad. We just don’t get sustained winds that high. In the teens yes but I know I won’t be sleeping Monday night if it’s that much wind as it just gets too noisy. I am wishing we had pushed the HOA to trim the tree next to our house (green belt) so glad we removed our tall trees snd no longer live in our old house with really tall eucalyptus trees in our neighbors yard that refused to trim or remove. They were the only one that had one actually fall over so you would think they would agree but nope as it wasn’t close to their house but was close to ours. So glad to not be their neighbors anymore Ahh I had to look at the hourly to see it. I was just looking at the daily summary assuming they would have a high listed, apparently not. My area/South OC is looking at max winds of 41mph Monday morning.

A lot can change between now and then snd I hope it doesn’t get that bad. Someone on NextDoor, who has been through hurricanes, said to just keep an eye on the path, that will make all the difference in what happens. Right now, the path shows it going through San Diego. We plan to secure our patio furniture, and maybe buy some food that doesn't need heating in case we lose power. The worst of it will be Sunday into Monday, so we don't need to buy a whole lot of stuff.

That’s our plan too. So hoping it doesn’t do a lot of damage snd no power outages.
We are just north of you.

We're on the coast so no burn areas/flooding for us. The rain will be a good break from the recent heat.

It looks like the wind keeps getting upgraded. It’s was just a few hours snd now it looks bad from 9 pm until 6 am . I know a lot can change and I sure hope it does. I’m starting to get concerned. I know this is nothing like actual 75+ winds but these could do a lot of damage to tile roofs and wood fences. I have never been in winds like this. Gusts yes but not sustained winds.

My brother and BIL are in Cabo rn. I haven't heard from them yet today (but it's early) on when or if they're getting out of there - they are on day 4 of a 7 day vacation. DB knows what to do, having grown up on the TX Gulf coast.

Today we are going to start taking down patio umbrellas and batting down the hatches in preparation, just in case it gets bad. Nothing worse than thinking it is no big deal and then not being prepared.

We are moving out patio furniture and taking down the umbrellas too. Other than that, just going to stay home this weekend. Ds wants to bake pumpkin muffins and dd wants to make some kind of cookie.

We still have one umbrella up that my son couldn’t get. My husband will deal with it tomorrow. I have a few cushions and lightweight side tables I will move tomorrow. I may use them tonight and tomorrow morning. I like the idea of baking. I got some zucchini so I might make some zucchini bread . I also got some pumpkin spice chips .

The wind speeds have been drastically reduced for our area. Still enough to move stuff but far less than it was saying last night. Feeling a bit less stressed and hoping we are just really over prepared. I’m hoping for no power outages or internet outages. That would be bad as DS and DH work or do school from home.

Today was such a beautiful day. Blue skies and very little wind. Towards the late afternoon though, when you looked towards the south, you could see the thunderhead clouds off in the distance. She is coming!

We had some really pretty clouds tonight. It’s actually a really nice night I’m sitting on my patio snd enjoying.
It sounds like some people are going nuts and Costco ran out of water. I probably should have bought another case at Sam’s this morning but oh well next week. I’m not really worried at this point. Last night I was. It’s going to be windy but nothing horrible. Just hoping people have secured their stuff.

Oh, a house down the street has been getting their roof repaired all week. Yesterday, it was just the plywood. Today, they had the tar paper all laid down, but the tiles are still stacked in piles on top of the roof! They better work fast tomorrow! If I owned that house I would be freaked out of my mind right now. 😂

Wind highs for SD (city) are looking to max winds at 20mph now, and rain is a little over 2 inches. Predictions are definitely tapering down. Hopefully they are right.
My area of OC is looking at about 2.5 inches of rain and max winds of 20mph.

My area has winds of 40 MPH and between 4 and 5 inches of rain predicted. We are also receiving alerts about possible tornadoes from the storm when it hits.
Joshua Tree and out that way has some severe flooding and roads washed away.

Joshua Tree and out that way has some severe flooding and roads washed away. I hope the winds aren’t that bad we originally showed them that high but they have been downgraded. Still prepping because it’s not that hard.I would rather spend 30-60 mins securing stuff that doesn’t need it than have something damaged. I don’t think we have spent that much time though more like 15.

We still show winds up to 30mph in this area. But they are now shown for Sunday afternoon instead of late Sunday/early Monday. The storm must be moving in faster than originally forecasted. And still rain all day Sunday.
Oh, and we are now in the Warning phase, out of the Watch phase.

Cal State and over by Cabazon and through Cherry Valley can be the worst for the winds due to the flow down from the mountain and valley.

I was happy with the news that the rain is happening during the day on Sunday. I can’t wait to open all the windows and listen to the rain. I have a patio with a tin cover specifically because I love the sound when it rains.

I'm going to kickback with a glass of wine and enjoy it…if it actually does rain. I am a skeptic when it comes to rain in So Cal.

True it’s been a while so they will be really slick then add in that people drive like crazy driving way too fast ir way too slow. Running lights or tailgating.

We get strong Santa Ana’s here to as we are right on a canyon but don’t usually get 40+ winds and not for a long period of time. Thank goodness. Your area sounds much worse.

I'm in northern/central CA- basically straight east of the Bay Area- and people are worried about it hitting here. WTH? REALLY? We MIGHT get rain and it'll cool to below 90 for the first time in months. LOL
I hope the So Cal peeps fare well.

That is still a lot of water.

My daughter lives two blocks from the beach in San Diego. She keeps telling me that she lives uphill from the water, and I keep telling her to err on the side of caution.
