Happy Friday! Waving hi and hope you are all having a nice day. I just got through listening/watching a live harpist perform from London. Oh, it was so soothing and relaxing. I found this event on Eventbrite. It was free and there were about 15 of us on the Zoom call. It was like we had our own private concert. Not sure how often she does this but I hope to make the next one. Also, I had a cooking class this morning. The cook made shrimp and grits and a shrimp pasta dish. I am not a shrimp fan these days but it was fun just watching how created these meals. This afternoon, I will be working on a new website for our business we are trying to reactive and maybe playing with some paints. Friday nights we always have Chick-Fil-A so no cooking tonight. linda- I think I can smell the bread coming through the computer! LOL! What type are you making? SO glad your appt was ok and you are sleeping better. nylene- I am glad you were with msliz recently. I have thought about her and miss seeing her. Waving hi to you, msliz !!! Your new cards are so fun. The pop bottle ones are too cute. joyfulnana- What a game last night! When I heard them say it was 80 degrees at the beginning of the game, I thought of you. Man, that's hot for 8:30pm at night! Hang in there! How is Abby these days? I just read that she doesn't want you knitting so you can give her some attention. LOL! Adorable! I want to pick up my knitting. Still brand new to it and trying to figure out the basics. What are you working on? grammadee- How is the cooking and gardening coming?

kellyr21 , I haven't seen msliz for quite a while. It was a couple of years ago that she showed me her branding strip jar. I miss her too. Sounds like you have had a lot of interesting classes. The harp concert does sound relaxing. Best wishes on getting your business set up again. I love your painting on my scrapbook wall! What do you order at Chick-Fil-A? I have tried the cobb salad but that is all. DH likes the chicken club sandwich. gramma , it's so nice to see your happy smile popping up. I'm sure there are still lots of things you want to do in your new home, but take them one at a time. I'm sorry your hand is still sore, making scrapping difficult. I hope you will soon be cutting and pasting and inking away. Any plans for Online scraps this weekend? I have spent the last couple of days taking DH to appts. and running errands to pick up parts to fix some of his tools. So I would love to have a little scrappy time. DH thinks my scrapping with the Peas is sacred time. I don't get interrupted except when he comes to say "Hi" to everyone. kitbop , you make me laugh! Love your sense of humor. How is your little kitty doing? I have really missed Costco Photo. I can't print at home so I have been going to Walgreens which is close. I'm not terribly picky about my photos because they are often not great (when I have taken the photo) so they are ok for me. Persnickety is just down the street from me but are so much more expensive so I haven't used them. Hope you find a place you like as much as Costco. joyfulnana , how is Rudy liking school? I can't wait to see photos of him with his new little brother. Glad you have a couple of Pokey Peas who share your love for football. Does Abby sit and watch with you? Linda , I am happy that your appt. went well and that the headache is some better. I hope you will be able to get the sleep you need. You are such a busy, hard-working wife and mother. I am always amazed at all that you and grammadee accomplish. I obviously don't have the energy that you do. grammadee , did you get the tomatoes picked before the frost? Or was it just a light frost that didn't hurt them? We didn't plant tomatoes this year and we will never skip that again. We have really missed them. I'm sure you are in the middle of canning and freezing. When you freeze lasagna, do you have to let it thaw before you bake it, or is it already baked? I need to go start dinner. I hope to have a little scrappy time later tonight.

joyfulnana Are you getting settled in the new house? I'm in. The main furniture is in. My craft room is in but not totally organized. And I have to big tubs to empty and put away still. I'm sure they are full of treasures. Perimeter fence is mostly done around the back of the house but it can't be finished until the garage is built. Don't ever deal with Tuff Shed - long story. Porch and cover will start at the end of next week. Then raised planters will go in. Then a small grassy area. Finally a white picket fence around the perimeter of the front. Then a little old lady will be sittin' on the porch in her rocker. I've tried to get back to some scrapping but my hand gets really tired and I don't have much strength or grip. But it gets better every day. Are "we" watching football tonight? Well shoot, I missed this! Yes, "we" need to watch football. Every time it's on lol! Are you following Jimmy G. to the Raiders? That could be really interesting lol. I hope your hand heals soon, yours too nylene. I'll be needing to see photos of a little old lady on her porch. It sounds like it's going to be a wonderful place once it's done.

Got a couple of minutes this morning so thought I would check in here. Kind of keeping an ear on dgs who had another sleepover last night, so this will be short. kitbop I print photos at WalMart. I edit at the kiosk and get one hour printing. Their price decreases by number of photos ordered, but around 35 cents each. Sorry about the horn worms. Seems like every year there is some varmint that wants our crops! We are lucky enough to have the space to plant a larger crop, so there is usually SOMETHING to show for it in the end. nylene , we picked off the best of the tomatoes green last Sunday. So they are all in the basement in layered boxes. I need to check weekly to see what has ripened down there. There are some still out on the vines, but because they were under the leaves I don't think the fruit was touched by frost. I had picked a pail of cukes the day after the frost and although the leaves were completely done in, the fruit itself was still good. I make lasagna usually in October when I have too many ripe tomatoes to be eaten raw. Dh loves having a red tomato with any meal. I cook two or three batches of lasagna at once, invite people in to enjoy it fresh and then freeze the rest. The only thing missing on the frozen ones may be the grated mozza on top. I wrap well with foil and then plastic before I freeze them. They take a LONG time to reheat b/c they are so dense with meat and cheese, so just as long to cook as fresh, but none of the mess of the prep! joyfulnana were you asking about a crop? I think mom is hosting one later today. She started a thread on the GS board. I won't be able to join in cuz dd is coming to help do some garden clean up this afternoon, have supper, then take our farm labourer home. You make me tired just reading what you had on the go yesterday, Linda . I think I used to BE you, but now it is only a dim memory... I did some scrapbooking, but little else. kellyr21 , congrats on your new (revamped) business! I hope you can share some of your art projects soon.

Hi Pokeys! My Chiefs didn't fare well, but I was not surprised, with the players we have missing. But man what a game! I went out on game day to grab some lunch - the traffic was already coming in, and there was also a baseball game the same day. The stadiums are next door to each other so the traffic coming in for two different games was something to see lol. I don't recall having baseball and football scheduled for the same day before. I got myself home and stayed there LOL. kellyr21 you find such interesting things to watch/partake in! That harp concert sounds wonderful! I am a shrimp lover so the shrimp and grits sounds good too lol. I hope reopening your business goes well. I love your paintings. All of your art, I love it all. I'm still knitting a blanket. It has 1.5 stripes until it's finished, so Abby really needs to let me finish. I have two more to knit when I'm finished with this one lol. grammadee that's wonderful that Mikey had a good first day - maybe week now- at school. It's been a lot of changes for him, and he seems to be handling it well. You said you felt like a frost was coming, I hope it was light and didn't do any real damage to your harvest! I have lots of pictures of Abby that I need to get scrapped. Some with my yarn lol. But mostly, I don't know how many "cat crammed into a little box" pictures I can scrap lol. That's the majority of them lol. Linda I'm glad you got good news from the DR. Your baking sounds so yummy. Especially the bread. There were so many people making bread again during the height of the pandemic, that it made me miss my bread machine. Then I had to get real with myself about how often I would really use one lol. DH thinks my scrapping with the Peas is sacred time. My kids feel the same way about my crop time with the peas. And I'm ok with it, because it feels a little that way to me too lol. Rudy loves school, and hates homework lol. Which got me wondering why if the kids spend all day at school, why do they need homework? After I've worked all day at my "job" I sure don't want to do more work afterward. I'm not sure why we do that to the kids. He loves being a big brother too. He especially likes making his brother laugh, and to hear him tell it, he's very good at it lol. I saw mom is hosting a crop today, but I won't be able to play at that time, and I never made it to any last weekend either. Hopefully soon, I miss the pea crops. As far as where to get photos, I print at home mostly now, but once in awhile I order from Shutterfly - they are very hit and miss, so I don't recommend them, or Walgreens, which works well enough for me. I've never used Costo so I don't know about the difference in quality. I ordered from Persnickety several years ago, but I wasn't impressed. Maybe things are better now, I know lots of people love them. I've got take a photo of my LO for tomorrow and then get going on my other two samples. I haven't played with any other sketches yet, but I want to. This year feels a little up and down as far as mojo and motivation go.

I think I can smell the bread coming through the computer! LOL! What type are you making? I made two loaves of egg bread - my braiding needs work but they taste really good - and one loaf of english muffin/toasting bread - yum! I just got through listening/watching a live harpist perform from London That sounds lovely - what a treat! You are such a busy, hard-working wife and mother. I am always amazed at all that you and grammadee accomplish. I obviously don't have the energy that you do. Thanks nylene - my energy ebbs and flows and I often have to balance a busy day with a restful one I think I used to BE you, but now it is only a dim memory thinks about all your gardening and errands and gramma-ing posts...pretty sure you out-busy me on the regular nylene and joyfulnana - mum's crops count as appointments around here and once I put them on the calendar - they're pretty much respected as mum's time. I do prioritise family time though so if there's something going on here, I'll skip the crop. I'm off to a slow start today but going to do some chores and hopefully join in mom's crop this afternoon. I haven't managed to scrap since last weekend and I need to work out a sketch for my next hosting.

Good Monday afternoon, Pokeys. How is your week starting out? The weather has been sunny and warmer for several days. Dgs stayed here Friday night and his mom came Saturday for the afternoon. We took down 3 of the 4 pea fences and picked the rest of the corn. This morning I put the last of the zucchini through the food processor to make some room in the garage fridge for the corn. I am still up to my EARS in it ! Such a bountiful crop this year. I have given some away, made corn chowder, stripped the kernels to freeze in bags. Still have about 3 dozen big cobs to figure out what to do with... And while I froze most of the grated zucchini, I have a big bowl in the house fridge waiting for me to bake muffins or a loaf or something. Later this week I will focus on digging carrots and preparing them for winter. Okay. Gotta go get supper ready.

grammadee - sounds like your garden did very well and that you're in the midst of the busy harvesting/preserving season. I just picked up 25-lbs of tomatoes for $10 and need to turn them into sauce later - for now they are in the freezer temporarily. I'm waiting on my new electric pressure canner to arrive tomorrow. I had a stove top one but gave it to DS when we moved here because this stove is a glasstop and they aren't reccommended. Lots on my to do list at the moment and I'm getting a bit overwhelmed. Luckily dinner tonight is leftovers of the chicken chimichangas I made last night so no prep needed.

Is it Thursday already? Has it cooled off for you yet, joyfulnana? Feels like fall here. It is dark and gloomy. Rained last night and there was quite a wind. What leaves were colouring are now on the ground. It was so much fun to scrap with nylene and Linda yesterday. Managed to finish five pages. I still have some birthday cards to construct. I want to make one of them especially fun--our youngest dgd turns 13 in October and I thought I could play with a scary theme. But nothing practical has come to mind yet. I pulled out my Halloween bin, so maybe if I go through that some inspiration will ignite... No real plans for today, other than a meeting this evening at the Seniors' Centre. I have some grated zucchini to be dealt with. The lemon loaf was a hit the other day, so may make another. And trying to figure out what to do with about 3 dozen cobs of corn. I may blanch the kernels and freeze like that. Seems everything around here needs to be cleaned and organized, including my freezers, but definitely not in the mood for that operation today. Getting that corn out of the fridge and chucking the cobs and leaves will certainly clear up some fridge room, so maybe corn it will be... Waving hi to all the Pokeys. Hope you are having a great week.

Thanks for hosting the crop yesterday grammadee - I got 4 pages done plus a double page later in the day. Busy today - took the two 'kittens' (they are two but may always be called the kittens) to the vet for their annual visit and shots. Pad-Bear is 11 lbs, Dusty is 9.8 lbs and they are both very healthy and both feeling deeply betrayed by us Tonight is open house at the high school. It used to be annual but they stopped doing in 2020 and hadn't resumed so I was pleased to see it on the schedule this year. Parents do a walk thru of their student's schedule - each teacher has a brief spiel about the class and expectations. I like the opportunity to meet the teachers - two of hers I already know but not the others.

Oh look at that!! What a sweet looking little one. We'll need details, length, weight, name, hair color - - - Did your parents make it in time? Her birth was quite the speed event. She was breech so we knew I needed a c section, which had been scheduled for sept 20. On sept. 8, at 9 am, my water broke. We rushed to the hospital where they told me I was 6 cm dilated. The nurses rushed to prep the OR and call my doctor that he better hurry. By the time I was getting my spinal placed by the anesthesiologist, the nurse told me I was in transition 😵💫😵💫 my OB arrived and she was born at 11 am, just two hours after my water broke! My husband did skin to skin while they finished stitching me up. When that was over, had a perfect golden hour and have been in love ever since. Her stats: 6 pounds 8 oz, 19 inches long My mom made it to the hospital later that day, and she is still here helping us out because c-sections are no joke! Arthur is enjoying being a big brother as well.

Congrats scrappyrabbit! She is beautiful. I hope your recovery is going well. grammadee it sounds like you have a bumper crop this year. It is definitely fall. My early morning walks are starting in the dark now, but I'm still not wearing socks! I forget if I told you that I am a sandal girl for as long as possible each year. I have a full class this year! It's only week two, but they are such a nice group. I got to do all my get to know you activities, and we're having a potluck lunch at the end of the month. This weekend I am taking part in Maker Mania. It's hosted by over a dozen LSS around North America and at least one in the UK. It's a bit different because they give you the kit and then every store demonstrates two-three projects. I have to pick and choose because no one has enough supplies or time to do all of them! I also need to finish my book for book club. grammadee is coming in to town Tuesday, and we are all going out for supper and book talk and then going to see a movie! A Haunting in Venice is based on an Agatha Christie book, so perfect for our club.

Just popping in quickly to say hi - it's a busy weekend here.
Yesterday DD16 had an academic team match in Orlando - which meant her carpool left from the school at 530am - yawn...made for a long day for everyone. DH and I went to the company picnic - it was kind of wierd being there with no kids for the first year ever but a preview of what's to come.
Today is DD's first Girl Scout meeting of the year - a 2hr meeting about an hour south of us. So that'll take up a good part of the day.

Good Sunday morning, Pokeys. Not much scrapping for me the last few days, either, Linda. Dgs stayed Friday night here at the farm. Dd arrived here in the morning, and dgs took on the Canadian Army Virtual Run. He ran from here to dh's sister's place--just over 5km--in less than 37 minutes. We had Grampa behind and Mom & I in front for pilot vehicles. In the afternoon we cleared off some more of the garden and ended the day with a wiener roast on the yard. Today Dh & I are planning to leave soon for brunch with his niece/my God daughter for her birthday. Hoping to set up an on line crop on Wednesday morning. I will be at dd's house b/c she has a meeting to attend several hours away. Tuesday after book club and a movie with justjac and friends, I will sleep at dd's house and get dgs off to school. Since I need to be there after school too, I think I will just stay there and scrap for the day. Excited to have freshly printed photos from WalMart on Tuesday. I may scrap a bit at the LSS Tuesday afternoon between printing pic's and meeting for book club. After all, I will have the page kits already packed, right? Hoping everyone is having a wonderful Sunday!

Hey Pokeys! Hope you have all had a great weekend. scrappyrabbit , your darling little Serena is the most adorable baby. I can't wait to see photos of her with her eyes open. She is exactly the size and length of my first baby, also a girl. I wish I could just get one little squeeze on her! I echo what everyone else has said, get all the rest you can while you have help. A C-section is no small surgery. Take your time and rest, rest, rest! I am so glad things went well for you. Linda , how was the school openhouse? That's nice that you get a bit of an overview of what their classes cover. grammadee , it sounds like you and justjac will have some fun together. I hope you enjoy book club and the movie. I have spend since Thurs. afternoon holed up in my scraproom trying to get enough cards made to take to a family reunion yesterday. They had our email wrong so we weren't notified. Our Dr.'s receptionist is a relative and let us know when we went for flu shots. They hold an auction to pay for the next reunion and last time I took a couple of boxes of cards. This year they requested more so I have really been scrapping. I had some cards from Sheetloads, but I ended up making 28 cards, 8 of which were interactive which takes more time. My scraproom looked like a bomb had exploded, so I spent this afternoon cleaning up the mess. They sold well so it was worth it. DH took 6 pens which also sold well. I wish I had known sooner than 2 days before and the cards would have been better. This is a really busy week for us. We have dental appts, medical appts and haircuts. Wednesday is my only free day but I had hoped to get to Salt Lake to see my sister-in-law who has just been released to go home after rehab for a leg injury. I will let you know, grammadee , if I will be available Wed. morning. I need to run feed the cats we are tending for 10 days. Chat later.

grammadee - sounds like a busy weekend for you and yours! Your DGS is a speedy guy! I'll mark the potential crop n my calendar - thank you! nylene - the open house was interesting. Two of her teachers weren't there - pre-calc and art - but we met the others - 2 of which I knew from previous kids. It was sad how few people were there though - we were the only ones for most of her classes - welding had a decent turnout though. Goodness you've been super busy cranking out all those cards! What a shame you weren't notified - I'm glad that the receptionist was able to let you know. You have so much going on - I hope we get to see you on Wednesday but we'll sure understand if you can't make it this week. I have a quiet week with nothing scheduled except an exhibit opening we want to attend on Wed evening. But there's so much on my to-do list - I need to bake, cook up tomato sauce and can it, make ice cream, I have a sewing project and three papercrafts projects and some birthday cards and...can't forget my sketch and sample...

nylene, be careful. You may have to give up your POKEY card! Twenty-eight cards, eight of them interactive? In two days? Wow! Don't suppose you had time or energy to snap a pic of them? Glad they sold well. (Of course they did!!!) Hope you could catch your breath in time to enjoy the family gathering. Glad someone let you know! I am having what I call a ketchup day... laundry, a little cleaning, cooking a full meal with leftovers, planning what crafty supplies I will take to the LSS tomorrow (and dd's house for Wednesday), and what I need to pack for my sleepover Tuesday night. When I was on the road every 3 or 4 weeks, I had an overnight bag with night/morning essentials ready, and just added clothes each time, but I have robbed the essentials bags, so now I need to *think* about what I need to pack. Some days, thinking is not my strong point LOL. Not surprisingly, I have put more thought into page kits than anything...

I've been planted in my craft room for the last two days. I'm almost fully "stocked" and organized. I worked on cards for the "Cards for Soldiers" program and cranked out nice stack of a very simple design. NASCAR and NFL on the TV that is a decent size now rather than the tiny thing I had before. I was a pretty content gal. I had my son add a camera/mic to my new computer that I need to test to be sure it works. Then I'll be able to join crops and participate rather than eavesdrop. Also I'll try to taunt joyfulnana into watching to Chiefs and 49er games. My hand is still improving but the flexibility and strength is a problem. I think I may always have some residual pain and stiffness there. nylene how is your doing? I'll try to make the Wednesday crop grammadee but it depends on what is on my work calendar

Gosh it's nice to read some good news on here! grammadee - your upcoming "jaunt" sound both productive and fun. I don't think the people hosting you will care what you are dressed in so I too would be focusing on the scrappy fun stuff to take! Linda - yay for a quieter week! I've lot track of everything I have to catch up on and making lists just feels overwhelming now because there is too much to do. gramma - so happy your new craft room is getting a work-out! Glad your hand continues to improve. Injuries like that do honestly take a year before you can judge on the outcome - you'll still improve and maybe it will get to 99% ya know? nylene - WOW that is a lot of cards and a great contribution to a fundraiser! Did you have fun at the reunion? (even if they did forget to give you warning!) A couple of tidbits here: - have an offer on my Mom's house but it's $100,000 UNDER our already lowered price, so... - my DH has a new video game he is addicted to, and so I've been using Ds's computer. His keyboard will not type an "s". so here, I have copied an "s" and have to use control-v to paste an s every time I need one... I'm calling it good for my brain plasticity - I'm preparing for a bike trip next next weekend with my cousin. We're doing 240km (150mile) over 3 days. I haven't been on a bike since 2016. Literally. Ds and I went out for 30km yesterday and I was really happy with my cardio and leg strength, but when I got off oh boy was my coccyx sore! Not even an area that takes pressure - just the position and bad back flexibility. I could hardly walk by evening. - I'd love to join you all on Wednesday morning and if I appear you will know I've called in sick to work. Terrible headache brewing. Ahem.
