Happy Monday! Hope you all are having a nice day. I enjoyed the Scrapbook dot com event over the weekend. I did feel some inspiration to get into my paper and supplies. I place an order for some new goodies and I did start a lo last week. Our weekend was quiet and it has started cooling off here. Whew! Thank goodness! LOL! scrappyrabbit - CONGRATS!!!!! Blessing to you and your new sweet baby! nylene - Wow, you did make lots of cards! Glad they sold well and your dh's pens too. So cool! grammadee - You have had lots of activities, too. How fun you and justjac got to hang out together. linda - Boy, you have been busy, too. The exhibit sounds fun> Hope you get to go. Also, making ice cream sounds delicious. What flavor??? Yummy! justjac - Waving hi and glad your teaching and class is back to normal. Should be a fun year!

kitbop Maker Mania is always a little overwhelming. Each store gets the kit that all the participants get and then makes three projects. They then post a video demoing some part of their projects and all the instructions are uploaded. There's no way a participant can do it all. I'm trying to decide which layouts and cards I want to try. The kit includes some beautiful foiled sunflower papers, a sunflower die, a stamp set, an embossing folder, some gems, die cuts, 3D butterflies, and word dies. Some of the stores did gorgeous projects, but I don't plan to do a mini book or mixed media project. I finished reading The Werewolf of Whitechapel and look forward to discussing it before the movie tonight. I've been tired. I went to bed at 8:30 last night.

justjac , your Maker Mania sounds like fun. I think I would be overwhelmed with all the projects, but I'm sure there is a lot to learn. I hope you have a great time with grammadee . You know we are all jealous when you two get together. Book Club and a movie sounds like a busy night.I am so glad your students are coming this year. I'm sure they enjoy your class. I hope they continue to come all year long. kellyr21 , so nice to hear you talk about doing more scrapping. I'm glad you enjoyed SBC last weekend. I had planned to watch some but the need to get my cards made for the reunion kept me working every minute. It threw a wrench in my plans but the Reunion was nice. Steve lived in another state from all his cousins so they were never really close. He did know them but of course couldn't recognize anyone, so I went around and introduced ourselves and figured out the family lines. It was not as well attended as the last one, but it seemed a lot of the email addresses had been typed incorrectly so never arrived. I hope it is better next time. kitbop , I'm happy about your mom's house offer, but that's a big amount to lose. Are you considering it? What does the realtor think? I hope that your "headache" needs attention tomorrow morning. It would be great to see you online. Your bike riding makes me tired! I haven't been on a bike for years, but I used to do a lot of riding. My balance is so bad lately that I would probably break my neck. gramma , I hope you can join the crop tomorrow. It would be good to "see" you this time! I'm sure your hand is healing but pretty sore still. I find there are lots of things I try to do that really hurt. Hang in there! scrappyrabbit , how is it going for you and Serena? I'm sure you are just loving and squeezing her! How long will your mother stay? Linda , your quiet week sounds busy to me. I hope you accomplish all you set out to do. You are zooming along with Sketchtember! I have to get back in the groove. I think I burned out my mojo making cards last week. grammadee , thanks for setting up a chat for tomorrow. Hope you have a great time with justjac and your family. I did not take photos of all the cards, but did take one of 4 of the boxes and a sample of one of the interactive cards. I do have a list of what I made in case I might be able to mark off some of the challenges for this quarter.

Wow - the Pokeys have been posting up a storm! nylene - looking forward to seeing the card photos! I'm amazed at how many you made so fast! justjac and grammadee - enjoy your book club kellyr21 -glad to hear you're feeling scrappy again! kitbop -good luck deciding about the offer - that's quite low gramma - I hope the tech cooperates for the crop If I missed someone - I'm sorry I haven't made ice cream yet - my ice cube maker isn't cooperating and I've been busy with other stuff. I did make two loaves of sandwich bread and some oatmeal chocolate chip cookies today - yum! And I managed to get my sketchtember sample made and posted for tomorrow. First scrapping I've done since last Wednesday. I'm hoping to get a few of the sketches I've missed done during the crop.

Good Wednesday evening, Pokeys! After a day in town, supper & a movie with book club, a sleepover at dd's and a day at her house, I am back home and ready to crawl into my own bed. The movie was fun: I have not been to one in a theatre for over a year and not many before that. It was Haunting in Venice, an adaptation of an Agatha Christie novel. Since our club has been reading cozy mysteries, this movie seemed to be a good fit, but it was not quite as "cozy" as her books are... I managed to print over 200 photos yesterday and that really spurred me to get scrapping! Between some time at the LSS yesterday afternoon and the on line crop this morning, I have completed four two-page LO's and one single page. Just one SKETCHtember sketch, though, and one Sketchy Saturday from August. Will get them uploaded tomorrow. nylene, I am sorry you missed our crop, and hope you are feeling better. Anything to share with us yet, kellyr21? justjac I would love to see some of your Maker Mania creations. Okay as I said, I really need to get to bed...

nylene, be careful. You may have to give up your POKEY card! Says grammadee who is the most prolific scrapbooker I've ever seen and is definitely NOT pokey! LOL Also I'll try to taunt joyfulnana into watching to Chiefs and 49er games. Uh, You know I'm there! It looks like we have wait for the playoffs - I can't believe they don't play during the regular season! kitbop good for you biking! I love biking, but haven't been on one since 2013 lol. My conditioning would be horrible. What a bummer about the offer on the house. Will you wait to see if you get a better one? justjac thanks for the update on Maker Mania. One of the LSS here participates, but I never take the plunge. Man, this month is just flying by! Rudy's bday was yesterday - he's NINE! It has gone so fast. I haven't scrapped much this much, but I did finish my blanket, and now I can move on to the ones for the boys. kellyr21 I'm making a mountain of the same blanket in different colors lol. Easy peasy garter stitch. No thinking required LOL. DS2 is doing great, he's staying in his classes, taking things slower than last time, I think he's figuring things out, and seems much more determined. DS1 bought a new car about 3 weeks ago, and it was stolen Sunday so he/we are dealing with that. They found the car, and the damage isn't so bad it has to be totalled. Mostly broken windows. But man, what a sickening feeling. He and Rudy had been out having a nice day together and when they went back to the car it was gone. Poor Rudy was freaking out. So I've been without a car this week lol. Working from home definitely has its benefits lol. The weather is cooling off, but not enough for my liking. It's still getting into the mid 80's and only cooling off into the mid 60s so I still have the A/C on. I hope everyone is doing well! It is nice to see good news for the pokeys, there's been enough of the bad news. My weekend *looks* pretty free, so I'm hoping to start some of the awesome sketches that have been posted this month. It's been hard for me to stay up with Sketchtember for some reason this year.

I'm glad he has it back but wow... Yesterday was busy - I got 3 layouts done on the crop and then we met up with our real estate agent at the old property and talked about what steps needed to happen to get it on the market finally. We have a short punch list and he's sending us contact for a handyman and a yardwork guy so hopefully we'll be able to get those taken care of. Then DH just has to move a couple more things - a canoe, a truck topper, and a drafting drawer unit (super heavy). And THEN we all went to the local art gallery - they had the opening for a new exhibit - the Iconic Art Project - with (really good) replicas of famous art. It was really good and we plan on going back for one of their lunch sessions to hear an art historian talk about the various pieces. DD16 really enjoyed it also.

Good Saturday morning, Pokeys! What are your weekend plans? nylene, I hope you are feeling better. kitbop, is this the weekend you get on a bike and ride an insane number of miles? joyfulnana, have your insurance issues with the vehicle been resolved? Does your ds have a rental to drive to work? I hope you DO get some scrappy time this weekend. Today is SPUD day. Dgs stayed last night. This morning he is going to help Grampa pull the vines and hook up the digger. After lunch dh will be digging with the tractor and dd, dgs and I will be grabbing the potatoes and setting them aside to dry. Then this afternoon they need to be picked up, wiped and stowed into tubs and buckets.

Hello Pokeys! grammadee - spud day sounds like a lot of work but I bet it's nice having homegrown potatoes. So nice that your DGS is old enough to help and young enough to want to help. What are your weekend plans? Yesterday I caught up on my mending and finished off some Halloween coasters that were in my UFO pile. Then I started sewing the bathrobe I cut out in January...so today's plan is to get that finished. Then I have some other sewing projects to work on. DH and DD16 are out hitting yard sales, flea markets, and thrift stores and then I think DH's plan is to try and fix the mower.

Hi all! is this the weekend you get on a bike and ride an insane number of miles? Nope - that's next weekend! I leave on Thursday, then bike Fri/Sat/Sun. I'm anxiously excited? I think today ended on a good note. I slept in a bit, went to farmers market (which was disappointing. many farms/vendors gave up during covid. So we'll have to brave the 40 minute drive up to the huge mennonite area farmers market next time), had a nap, made a cake, did some gardening, and went for a good long walk with DS and puppy Poppy. Poppy has turned out to be far smaller than we expected. The mini-schnauzer we lost in February was 22 lbs. This one *might* get to 12 lbs. It's disconcerting to have such a small dog. Scrapping: yesterday I used a sketch and created a layout which I finished and put away, but it was bugging me SO much - I kept lifting it down and looking at it and saying, "it's fine, it works" but finally at 10pm I couldn't like it anymore, ripped it apart and reassembled it into a much more acceptable layout. I was up past 11, but glad I did it. I should have taken a picture of the before/after, oh well. grammadee - in August, DS found that a bunch of our store potatoes had sprouted, and insisted on planting them. I tried to explain that they wouldn't have time to make potatoes! but he wanted to try. They grew and are small plants now...he's just glad his experiment worked and next year I'm expecting he will want to plant a bunch. It's not something I ever intended to grow because they take up room and are cheap/easy to buy!

I had plans to scrap, but got sick on Thursday with a horrendous cold and have been doing more sleeping, coughing, and blowing my nose than anything lol. I have two sketches to post and no LOs to go with them. Both LOs are in various stages of done. I can't seem to get with it. grammadee they haven't come up with rental for him, and it was decided to scrap the car, so he's back to square one on cars. I'm really glad they scrapped it, I would not have wanted it back. It was new and there was a lot of body damage. I'm hoping to feel like running a few errands tomorrow morning and then get home in time to hunker down during the game. I do not want to be away from home when it lets out lol. I hope everyone is having a good weekend.

joyfulnana, I'm glad they totaled out the car. I'm so sorry that it was stolen. He must have been just sick! What is the matter with people??? How is your football team doing? Is Rudy getting excited about Halloween? Alex turns 11 on Sunday. He's getting too grown up....sometimes. LOL grammadee, I felt better on Friday and made a trip to the city to see my DSIL who has just been released home from a rehab center following a fall, then Covid, then a UTI. Every time they got ready to release her she would come down with something else. It was a great visit with her. Her DD had driven up from St.George for the weekend so I got to visit with her too. The next day, the intestinal woes came back and stayed for the weekend. Today I think I am cautiously ready to eat real food. Reading about your spud digging brought the smell of freshly dug potatoes, the damp soil and the fresh air to mind. I loved picking potatoes! How large was your harvest? kitbop, you are so adventurous! That's a lot of riding and a lot of exercise. I hope you enjoy it and that it doesn't take too much out of you. Are you still enjoying your little Poppy, even though she is tiny? What have you decided on your Mom's house? Linda, I am interested in your Halloween coasters. What are they made of? I'm glad to know someone else starts projects and they get set aside. I have 2 pillows I must get made soon. The fabric has been sitting too long. What fun things did your family find on their yard sales? I'm sure they have found some great things for you. Hope you get all your projects finished. kellyr21, how were all your classes last week? You find the most interesting things to try. Are you doing any painting? I am so behind on everything in this house that my scrapping has had to take a backseat. I haven't kept up on comments and am a bit overwhelmed right now. I'm planning on really getting going by the end of the week. I hope to hop on the crop tomorrow or Wed, depending on what DH needs. He will be home early those days so often needs to run errands while he's still fresh. Have a great week, everyone!

This one *might* get to 12 lbs. It's disconcerting to have such a small dog That does seem like a small dog - my current batch of cats are 9.8, 11, and 11.4 lbs and they're on the smaller side for us. got sick on Thursday with a horrendous cold ((((Hugs)))) - hope you're feeling better soon Today I think I am cautiously ready to eat real food ((((Hugs)))) I hope you're truly on the mend this time I am interested in your Halloween coasters. What are they made of? I'm glad to know someone else starts projects and they get set aside. I have 2 pillows I must get made soon. The fabric has been sitting too long. What fun things did your family find on their yard sales? I'm sure they have found some great things for you. Hope you get all your projects finished Coasters use an orange Halloween print and solid black fabrics. I used the tutorial here allsorts.typepad.com/allsorts/2006/11/crisscross_coas.html -They're a great way to use up scraps Yard sale - they didn't come home with too much - DD16 found a flannel hoodie she liked. DH found some books about the civil war and some Lego

Happy Monday! Waving hi to you all and hope you all had a nice Monday. Today, I am pooped and a little sore but for good reason. Yesterday, we went to Laguna Beach again and had a fantastic time. One of the museums had an exhibit I wanted to see so we went. The parking is always a challenge. We had a longer walk and back up a incline. Whew! So that is where the sore part came from. LOL! The exhibit was amazing featuring art from a 1920's local artist. I took lots of pictures and enjoyed myself. But the best part of the day was a new beach area we discovered behind the museum. OMG, the ocean views were just wonderful and I sat and sat as long as I could to take it all in. Can't wait to go to this beach spot again. I surprised myself and did some scrapbooking on Saturday. It's been so long since I have scrapped and after I got going it felt relaxing. I hope to add the journaling tonight or tomorrow and then I will share. The Sketchtember ideas did help. I have more pages to do and I hope to get more going this week. joyfulnana- We have cooled off but we are still using our a/c and or fans, too. LOL! grammadee- So cool that you all got all that farming done. I know it is a lot of work but it must be so rewarding to cook such fresh foods and meals. linda- You have been busy too. I am glad the art gallery was enjoyable. What type of art was it? nylene- I haven't done any painting over the last few days but I look forward to painting this week. Yeah, all these classes I have taken have been fun. I have a few this week. Also, I have an online art event I am checking out all this week and next week. They are pre-recorded video featuring various artists. Looks good so far.

Hey Pokeys. grammadee I love to eat your fresh potatoes, but I could never do all the work you do to get them. Between back to school and shorter days, I feel exhausted most days after work. nylene and joyfulnana I hope you're feeling better. It seems like back to school also brought a lot of colds here. I have a haircut tomorrow and Thursday is the author talk for the local arts festival. My other book club is going to that. There were auditions for a play last month and I am grateful that I didn't try out. I don't have the energy for rehearsals!

Good Wednesday morning, Pokeys.
I am hoping to join the crop this morning. I have a couple of two pagers planned around two pairs of single page sketches. Put together some rough kits when I had time over the last few days, so hopefully I can spend the time chatting and creating rather than searching and swearing... But Dh is home all day, and I may have to help him with his latest project outside, and won't know until he decides what needs to be done.

It was really neat to see - I've only ever seen these ones in books and most of the replicas were true to size or close to it. justjac - Hi! grammadee - nice seeing you on the crop.

Happy Friday, Pokeys! Hope you are having a good day. It is raining here this morning which means dh's outdoor plans are scotched, so he is a bit of an unhappy camper in the house.
I am up to my elbows in ripe tomatoes. Have two big stock pots starting to heat up on the stove. Tomorrow I plan to turn most of that into lasagna.
Carrots are all out of the garden and most are in bags in the fridge. I think this morning while watching my tomatoes simmer I will clean up the carrot culls and put them through my food processor in prep for making carrot cakes in the morning.
Picking up my star helper after school for his sleepover.
Gptta go. As you were...

Happy Friday! grammadee - you sound very busy and productive. Making and canning tomato sauce is on my weekend to-do list as is making and canning broth. We'll see how successful I am. I'm almost caught up on sketches - just yesterday, today, and tomorrow left and yesterday's is sitting on my desk in progress. I STILL haven't counted points on anything and that's going to be quite the chore. Today is our Anniversary so we'll have dinner out. I need to make a card for DH this afternoon - I do have a plan for that at least

kellyr21 , I love all the scrapbooking you have done. I will go to the gallery to get a better look. It's great to see you scrapping again!! Linda , I can't believe how much scrapping you and grammadee have done on the Sketchtember challenges. You two are in danger of losing your Pokey membership. Not really, you just give the rest of us incentive which is great. I am going to close this thread. I will go back and catch up on the last page over the weekend.New October thread can be found here.https://2peasrefugees.boards.net/thread/141644/pokey-peas-challenge-october-2023
