I am not normally an advocate of knock-offs for all the reason discussed over Ali Express and Temu on here before. I have bought from both places, but only generic die shapes, or sets that were long discontinued unavailable ones. But.....
I am still angry that the miserable lady made it impossible to get the hinged style stamping platform anymore, so.......Temu has a nice looking stamp platform that seems to be a direct copy of the Misti. It it $34-37. Search for: Stamping Platform Precision Stamping Tool To Make Stamp Easier Than Ever When Crafting For Clear Stamps And Red Rubber Cling Stamps Craft Tools
I do not order from Temu anymore, as the spam from them was relentless, but the buying process was seamless. Like I said, normally not a fan of this type business practice, but REALLY not a fan of MSP. Stamping platforms have changed stamping and we should be able to buy whatever kind we choose without having to buy it from her. I have a homemade one that I love, and the Tim Holtz one that I use to do larger stuff. I am just a hinge platform stamper. Some of the newer systems look fine, but I am a simple hinge girl. So it is nice to have access to options.

Wow, that is almost identical. I’m almost tempted because it’s the bigger size but I’d rather have the Altenew platform.

I saw that. I want to buy one just to see how “identical” it really is but right now, that’s too much money even from Temu. I’m not saying I won’t do it in the future though.

Back in the day, Hampton Arts had a knockoff for around $20. A little smaller, but I liked the color better and no bible verse It works every bit as well as the pink one, so I can easily imagine that the one from Temu would work just fine. I still can't fathom how she got a patent on hers.

I wish Miss Misty lots of luck going after Temu! Miserable cow. Now that she is shilling a glue bottle squeezer, will she try to sue caulk gun manufacturers?

I just checked AliExpress and they have the same ones. They come up on a search for MISTI. Gotta love that.

Temu scares me more. Yesterday the AE search didn’t work for me but now it is. And they’re offering me a $28 “welcome deal”. It seems crazy to resist….

I don't think I'd ever use it but I might buy one from Temu just because.

Applied for and was granted a patent many believe was unwarranted. Used it extremely litigiously to quash any and all competition, including threatening hobbyists who made DIY platforms and dared to share how they did it online. Our own pea Don may have been one (I’m not fully clear about that point—before my time). I believe if it has a rectangular platform and any sort of hinge, it has been ruled to infringe her patent, even something seemingly very different like the SU Stamparatus.

How would the patent office grant the patent if it was unwarranted?
Why do you think so many card making celebs sing her praises if she’s so terrible?
I have both the Misti and the TH stamp platform. I’m guessing I got the TH right before he had to stop selling it. I really don’t care for it. I get better results with the Misti.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone sing her praises, only her product’s. But if it’s that superior to the competition, why not let it compete on its own merits? It is only her litigious bitchiness that turns people away. Well, also the Bible verse, for some.
As for how she could have gotten an unwarranted patent, mistakes happen.

I was surprised to learn she had a patent on the Creative Corners for the Misti. They’re just pieces of acrylic with magnets. Found this info regarding her patents;
Original, Mini and Memory MISTIs are covered by U.S. Patent Nos. 9,849,705; 9,731,531; 9,597,909; 9,925,812; 9,931,875; 10,759,204; D847260; 10,960,696; 10,836193; USD 945,526 Other U.S. and/or foreign patents may be pending. Creative Corners are covered by U.S. Patent No. 9,776,443. Memory MISTI is also covered by U.S. Patent No. D87227. Cut-Align is covered by D891,956; 11,161,365 Precision Glue Press is covered by European Community Design Registration Nos. 015015746 and 015015748 United Kingdom Design Registration Nos. 6271051 and 6271052 Other patents pending.

I think everybody agrees the misti is a great tool. I have a first generation original. I personally don’t think she should have gotten a patent since it’s really a knockoff of the letterpress.
My issue with her is how she bullied and threatened normal everyday crafters for just using a homemade misti. Most of which was done while the patent was pending. That was just wrong. That’s my reasoning for not liking her.
A majority of the industry turned on Sizzix when they started suing over wafer thin dies. Why did the misti lady get a pass when she did exactly the same thing?

Having been back in the hobby for only a year, I missed most of the platforms, but from what I see, many were VERY similar to the MISTI and she may have had a reasonable case there. The Stamparatus seems very different to me. I still don't see that the suit between SU and MSP has actually run its course completely, so I don't fully understand why it was pulled from the market. I still hope to see it return, though I might be a fool.

Yeah, this is what I was referring to. I don't think I've ever seen a crafty YouTube or blog where the person isn't using a Misti (unless they are trying out the new Altenew and using it for a round-a-about or multi-stamp layering technique). But, even then in the next video they are back to using the Misti. Although I don't follow TH or his crowd, maybe they still use his stamp platform, but just don't show it?
I'm an atheist, but the Bible Verse doesn't bother me. I had actually never noticed it until I checked for it this morning. My foam pad is always covering it. But, I also eat at In-n-Out and ignore their Bible verse.
Thanks for sharing some of the background info. I wasn't reading this part of the board when it all went down.

So, I wasn't here when it all went down either, but the funny part of the story is that I only found 2 Peas because a little over a year ago when I returned to the hobby, I started seeing stamping platforms in videos. Some I couldn't seem to find for sale, others I could. I was having trouble finding comparative reviews and things of that nature. In one of my internet searches for that information, one of the threads here popped up. I lurked for a bit (ironically, I had lurked briefly on the original 2 Peas forum the last time I was active in the hobby), eventually chimed in with a question, probably the same one you had here now, and eventually settled in!

This is my recollection of how she upset the crafters here:
The negative opinion of the Peas regarding MSP started with a thread of complaints here from customers who had bought the original MISTI and had problems with their platforms cracking. MSP refused to replace the cracked platforms, claiming it was due to abuse. The customers said that they had used it as directed and were upset because it cost $100, and she wouldn’t replace their cracked platforms.
Since the MISTI was just an adaptation of a letterpress, and it was $100, Don decided to make his own homemade stamp platform, and told the Peas how little it cost him to make. He didn’t really give any specific directions or measurements, just showed a photo of it. MSP threatened to bring legal action against Don if he didn’t take down the photo. The opinions of her went downhill from there.
If she had been more customer oriented and replaced the platforms, and not threatened Don with legal action, many of us would have bought the MISTI. I was considering it until I read the thread, which I read at the time all of the above was happening. The negative opinions of the Peas were her own fault.
Just curious, in going back to look at the original threads, her comments don’t seem as nasty or as lengthy as I remember them being. Did she come back and edit them?

Nevermind that people were doing the same thing with clear CD cases before she ever came along with her "invention". That is nasty enough, IMO. She had EVERY STAMP PLATFORM out there pulled from the market. EVERY ONE. She went after several manufacturers. Even if they were different than hers. That should have never happened.

Well, Sizzix was granted their patent on the thin dies, and then when they tried suing QuikCutz, Sizzix lost the patent because it was determined it shouldn't have been granted in the first place. So it's not like there's never been a patent issued that shouldn't have been.
I'm in the process of making myself one that's the right size for the Pinkfresh stamps that coordinate with their washi - those are all like 9-1/2" tall by about 4" wide and they are too big for any of my collection of stamp positioners. They would fit in the Memory Misti, but that company will NOT get any of my craft dollars. Also, a 12x12 positioner that opens up to 24" wide is just too big.
They're simple to put together, but to be honest, the price she charges isn't really out of line compared to other tools and so forth. But between what went down here and over at Splitcoast and the threats made to people showing their versions on youtube, I won't be supporting that company.

I’m guessing I got the TH right before he had to stop selling it. I really don’t care for it. I get better results with the Misti. I suspect that sometimes it’s essentially a judgment call as to whether the “invention” is truly different enough to get the patent. One patent official might approve a patent that another might not. Celebs were singing her praises because of two probable reasons that I can think of: 1) she definitely improved upon the basic craft letterpress that stampers had been using prior to the MISTI, and 2) she reportedly gave them a $100 tool in return for promoting it. And because her husband is an attorney, there were probably some additional legal restrictions, which the celebs presumably didn’t care about at the time. Now, even IF they feel differently, they are locked in. They probably can’t even use any alternative publicly. I get great results with my mini-TH platform, but my bigger one has a trouble spot or two. I can’t compare them to the MISTI because I have never tried one, and after seeing how she treated people here, I never will. For the record, I won’t buy the knock off version from TEMU either. I might buy the Stamparatus eventually, but my mini-TH platform works well and doesn’t take up much space.
