I feel sorry for the dog, but I think he needs to live somewhere else for now. This is the 11th time the dog has bitten someone. If it was owned by an average citizen, that dog would have been taken away by now. I know the Biden's love that dog, but he is not suited for a life at the White House. www.yahoo.com/gma/bidens-dog-commander-bites-another-205442401.html

After the first bite the dog should have been permanently removed from the White House grounds.

I seriously do not understand why this dog is still around people? As said in the OP, if this was any other dog for any average citizen, then the dog would have been taken away by now. The dog is probably a great dog in other situations, but it's obvious he cant handle being at the White House and (I assume) all the various people that are there.

That dog should have been gone after the first bite. Keep it around for 10 more bites, one of which required going to the hospital? AND, this is the second dog they've had that's bitten people. How dare they subject anybody around those dogs to a possible attack. Fucking idiots.

I tend to wonder if the SS agents are provoking it in some way. Has it bitten any other type of staffer? It’s just so strange that various aides, custodians, etc. don’t have a problem with this “aggressive” dog.
Regardless, agree that the White House is not a good environment for this dog.

An aggressive dog like that needs to have a dedicated handler, who will train it and socialize it correctly. I am assuming that different people are walking it, perhaps feeding it, etc. A purebred German Shepherd can be a dangerous dog. A dog bite is nothing to be taken lightly. I love dogs, but would not keep one that bites people as a house pet. The part that scared me was where it said that Mrs. Biden could not control it when it was about to attack the agent.
Commander sounds like a good candidate for the K-9 unit of the army.

I think he's really tried to make his stance clear on living in the White House. And clearly, he hates the Secret Service. He should have been removed after the first bite.

German Shepards are very protective of their families. The WH does not seem to be a good environment for them. Commander should have been removed long ago.

Maybe he smells their guns/gunpowder? Not joking... Just a guess, a thought? Maybe he feels they're too close to his people and it's causing aggression? He doesn't like their protective vibe? Their gear? Their energy? They're all starting to get nervous because he's a known biter, and he can sense that? Whatever it is, he clearly doesn't like the cut of their jib. Definitely not a good fit for him, for sure.

It is so unfair to that poor dog. Clearly, he is showing that living in the White House isn't working for him. The first time he bit someone, they should have found a different place for him to be. And, obviously, it sucks for everyone that has been bitten!

I’ve always loved my pets as much as anyone, but there is no way I would keep a pet who had bitten eleven people. Especially if some of the people my dog had bitten were secret service agents who had sworn to put their lives on the line to protect my life.
Are the Bidens waiting for that dog to rip into someone’s face and permanently disfigure them before they do something about that dog? I just can’t imagine working in an environment where you had to worry that at any minute the boss’ dog might turn on you and attack.

Why hasn’t this dog received extensive training? Surely they have access to the best of the best. And if a top-notch dog trainer is not successful in making this dog safe to be around, it needs to be removed from the President’s vicinity while he is in office. This is unsafe for the agents and highly confusing to the dog.
Although if I were the dog’s owner, as much as I undoubtedly loved the dog, I would wonder, is it safe around grandchildren?

This dog hasn’t been properly trained to be in situations like this. We have a close friend who does dog training including but not limited to police dogs, drug dogs, bomb dogs, executive protections dogs, etc. His personal dogs will growl and bark at me until a single word from him. Then they’re all friendly and want to play. They are protective until given the command and aren’t aggressive unless attacked, their person is attacked, or they’re given a command to attack. This article makes me wonder if someone is provoking the dog but I’d bet it’s a lack of consistent, high level training. Just my opinion…

This incident involved Commander. Their other dog Major also bit people and was removed from the White House earlier. Something is going on! How can 2 dogs bite people? Clearly they are stressed.
The Biden’s need to rehome this dog too. It’s not fair to keep him and have him under this kind of stress. If that was John Q Public that dog would have been euthanized after the second bite. Why are the Biden’s allowing him to be in this environment?

That is ridiculous!
My brother-in-law passed away a year ago. His 12 pound Shorkie, Marly was his most prized possession. About 4 months ago my sister had Marly out on a walk and a neighbors unleashed German Shephard attacked him. The neighbors claimed it had never happened before and that their dog was only trying to play with Marly (apparently by sinking it's teeth into his lung). Marly was taken to an emergency vet but passed away before they could help him. It was traumatic for my sister on so many levels... witnessing the attack, losing such a strong link to her husband so soon after her husband's death, not wanting bad neighborly relations but afraid if it's not reported another dog or CHILD could be attacked. Her kids finally convinced her to report it and come to find out it was not the first time the dog attacked another dog. But he was taken from the residence.

That's awful. I am shocked that it has been allowed to happen 11 times! I just googled the regulations in my state, and a quick précis:
A dog will be declared a "menacing dog" if it causes a non serious bite injury to a person or animal, or if it rushes at or chases a person. ("Rushes at" means it comes within 3 metres of a person and is growling or barking at them.)
If the dog has been declared a dangerous or menacing dog, and it bites or attacks another person, the owner may be charged and be liable for fines and possible imprisonment.
A menacing dog declaration can be upgraded to a dangerous dog declaration if the owner has been issued with two infringement notices for failed to comply with requirements such as leashing or muzzling their dog in public.

I thought they had already relocated the dog. The dog needs to go; the secret service puts their life on the line for the people they serve and they shouldn't have to worry about the family dog, too.

I'm the biggest dog lover in the world, but come on, this dog needs a different environment. It's totally irresponsible to have let it's go on this long with so many people being bitten.

I'm not a dog person, but that is definitely excessive. I think that rehoming the dog seems to be the best plan.

It is interesting thst both dogs have only bitten Secret Service agents. Not the family, not visitors, not the staff.

They should have removed the dog a long time ago. There really is no excuse at this point. Clearly something about the secret service agents is causing him to bite. Maybe they are getting too close, but they are doing their jobs and if the dog can't handle it, remove him!

Training, training, training and situational awareness on the the caretakers part. You can’t have that kind of dog without maintenance training rom the owners. If Joe Biden won’t be involved in his own dogs care he needs to let him move on. Dogs reflect the owners response to situations and responses. You don’t get a dog, have him trained by others, and then expect perfect behaviors if you don’t also learn and participate in that training. It’s irresponsible!
and don’t blame the dog if he is unable to adapt to these situations if he AND his owner isn’t properly trained!

If the owners can’t control the dog, they need to find a qualified owner If handler training is believed to be the only problem or the dog be put down because the current owners aren’t responsible adults. Shame on Joe and Jill for not being concerned about the welfare of White House personnel. Perhaps the bitten SS officers should sue them in order to get them to be more responsible pet owners. The Biden’s have deep pockets and it seems to be the American way to sue people. I’m usually against seeing, but those 2 need a wake up call.

UGH. I love dogs, while having a healthy fear of them. LOL When my daughter was 2, she was attacked completely unprovoked by a cocker spaniel, in the face, requiring a traumatic ER visit including stitches and drains in her little face. It was my brother in law's dog, and I wanted to kill the little f*cker. Not even kidding!
That said, if I had a dog that bit someone even once, if it was unprovoked, that dog would be gone so fast. I can't fathom keeping a dog that has bit someone 11 times. That is horrible.

Why in the freaking world is the dog not muzzled when others are around??? Muzzles keep the dog and everyone else safe. Muzzle training is fun and interactive for the dog (done properly). There are basket muzzles a dog can drink through and even be given a treat (by a person they aren’t going to bite obviously as you poke it thru!)
My daughters border collie is a hot mess and she muzzled trained her and she loves her basket muzzle. Because it means she is going out in public so that’s fun! Polly looks a little scary maybe wearing it but she doesn’t know that. And she can go in crowded places and if she has a crazy moment everyone is safe! Polly actually hasn’t had any of those moments in years, intensive training and meds made her a very wonderful dog. But, not taking the risk, ever.
This is not hard, how have they let this continue?!

Cesar Milan where are you? And yes to the muzzle. I’m also a long time dog lover. One of my dogs grazed a neighbours leg when said neighbour silently sneaked up on us on the trails. He thought it was a funny thing to do until dog got startled and did what natural instinct told him to do. That dog wore a muzzle when outdoors on the trails after that one instance. I wasn’t taking any chances. Put a muzzle on Commander.
