Pokey Peas Challenge for October 2023

Hello, Pokeys! All the festivities are over and everyone has gone home. It was nice to meet and visit with relatives we had never met. DH's sister and husband were able to spend a lot of time with us, reminiscing about past days. It was worth all the deep cleaning, rearranging and giving up the scrapbook room. It will take a while to get things back to working space.

joyfulnana , that is the cutest Halloween costume! Does he get to wear it for a school parade? He will be the hit at every home if he goes trick-or-treating. Rudy is a cutie! Why do they grow up so fast? Congrats on the new job situation. I'm glad they are willing to do what it takes to keep you. You are obviously very valuable where you are.

Linda , I am so happy that you have had time with DD and that you will be able to be with all your children during the holidays. BTW, I'm with you on horror movies. I just don't want those images in my head! There are enough scary things in day to day living. LOL. Your eating out, doing some hiking and visiting a bookstore sounds like a wonderful day together. Your DS's bathrobe sounds wonderful!

gramma , I'm sorry I have missed out on some online crops. I hope to be able to join soon. How is the hand doing? I have a nerve in my injured finger that makes it feel like it's on fire if the tip of my finger touches anything just right. Otherwise I'm doing well. Hope your hand is behaving. Now...Covid? Could you have any more lousy events in your life? Has it been a hard case, and how are you feeling now? We need to wrap you in bubble wrap and keep you indoors away from people! Hugs!

kellyr21 , it's so great to see you crafting. I left you love in the gallery. I love the way you separated the tags and used them on your scrapbook page. The decorations and embellishments on each are so fun. I love the lift up sentiment. How are your cooking classes going? I was happy to read that you and Ron have found a new quiet beach. What fun! I hope to see more of your art posted.


When I am under stress I need scrappy time to calm me out. Before the festivities I cut out 13 Halloween cards and between events I would put a couple together on the kitchen table. It was the smartest thing I have done. I got them all in the mail to grands and great-grands this morning. I'll post a photo here. Hoping to get back into Cardtober, but I make no promises. I'm still searching for things I tucked away.

knutschen , so nice to see your happy face popping up. I love that photo of you. What a great service you have done with your bike riding. You must be in great physical condition. I hope you are, and are feeling well. How is work going? Are you seeing many bad Covid cases. We have a few around us, but they are usually in vaccinated people and are light cases. I hope things are good at your hospital. Did you get your portfolio finished? Does it lead to an advancement at work?

justjac , how is Dean feeling? I'm sorry you had to leave him behind for Thanksgiving. I wish I could be a little mouse in the room as you and grammadee get together to scrap. You must have such fun together. Any other plays on the horizon?

grammadee , you have had a very busy harvest. I'm glad you had a nice Thanksgiving. I don't know how you manage to travel so much and still have your "engergizer
bunny" energy. I hope your grands do well in their Hockey season. You are a very busy family. Your ham hock and beans sounds delicious! I think I will make some next week. We love soups in the winter and it's been a long time since I did that. If you have an online crop on Wed. I might be able to hop on. I have a dental appt at 9:30, but should be home by 10:30.

kitbop , I am impressed that you could even walk after your bike adventure. How are things going with your mom's home? Did you accept the offer? Have you started any house hunting? A house that was comfy with little children seems mighty small when those little ones are large adults, right? Having a lot of adults around made me wish for a larger home, but I wouldn't want to have cleaned anything larger than this one! I can't believe you made another album for a colleague who is leaving. You are unbelievable. It must have taken hours because you don't do anything half-hearted!

gramma , your house must be getting so comfy! I'm sure there was a bit of sadness as you closed on your old house. Good for hand recovery, not so good on Covid! I hope you soon get a negative. It's your turn to be healthy again!

Halloween Window Cards

joyfulnana, I hope things go smoothly at work tomorrow and that you find it more to your liking. I am sorry about your tires and brakes. I got a nail in the sidewall of my tire and had to replace all 4 tires. I'll know not to buy All=Wheel drive again! The kids here can just take their "heads" off their costumes and wear them to school. Does Rudy's head come off or unzip or anything to show is face? I hope he can figure something out.

kellyr21, I look forward to seeing more of your scrapping. What kind of cooking classes are you taking?

Linda, we will be caring for the neighbor's cats again this weekend. 3 of the 4 hide and we never see them. One is very playful and we have to work at getting out the door without him following. When the owners return from a trip she has all 3 of the downstairs cats in her bed and she can hardly roll over. I'm sure it's nice to know that your kitties love you. How was DD's Scout event?

kitbop, congrats on getting the home sold. I'm sorry you had to take less than anticipated. It will be nice when all the paperwork is done, I'm sure. When will you make the trip back to get the rest of her belongings?

grammadee, I love the photos of your DGS and his cards. He's very talented. We are on Fall break so Alex joined our Church card making class on Thurs. My friend who was teaching it is not comfortable with her Silhouette yet, so asked me to cut out all the pieces for 16 twist pop cards. Alex was as efficient as any of the women there. It's fun to see boys enjoy paper crafts!

It took me all evening to get the paper cut for the class. We usually have 3 -4 people but had 14 this time. After the class I went home and designed my Christmas cards. I always make multiples of the same design each year. In the time between Thurs and today I have made 60 cards and have 40 more cut, just waiting to be assembled. It will be nice to have that much of the job done. I won't address or send them until Dec. I am hoping I can catch up a bit here on 2Peas this week before the end of the month. Between having my scraproom deconstructed and making Halloween and class cards, I have been pretty absent and I have really missed you all.
