This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges and is a fun place to come chat with other Pokey scrappers. 1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. These can be posted in the thread or in the gallery. If you post in the gallery, be sure to come to the thread and tell us you posted and tell us the name of the layout so we can find it. You can copy the URL from the gallery and paste it directly into your thread for a link. 2. This challenge can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items or any other creative projects. 3. Please comment on the work of others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts. 4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or more than four. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new members. If you are on a Team, complete the 4 challenges and post them on this thread for an extra 4 points.

Welcome to October and another fun month of challenges. Cardtober is always fun.
I took DH out for a ride to see the beautiful changing leaves. He could see some color, but very little. His world is mostly gray. We got close enough that he could see some of the brighter yellow trees. Right now the lower foothills are all covered with orange and red. It's such a beautiful time of year. It makes me sad that he can see very little of that. It reminds me to be grateful for my sight and ability to drive us around.
Have a productive month, everyone. It's always nice to start over each month. Now if I can just get my points added up!

Thanks nylene! I so miss the changing leaves - we really don't get that here and I loved being in Virginia last year and getting to see them there. I'm so sorry that your DH's vision has gotten so bad - that has to be incredibly hard for both you. ((((Hugs))) Now if I can just get my points added up! same...that's on tomorrow's to-do list along with Sketchtember 30

Wow Linda. Congrats on finishing all those sketches. I have 6 left. Not sue if it is doable in the 8 days I have ahead of me. Lasagna is in the oven. Carrot cake needs to be iced. Expecting people for supper ina little over an hour. Just breathing in the quiet time before I have to move again.

grammadee - your dinner sounds delicious. I love carrot cake! I have confidence that you can get the last sketches done - maybe schedule a crop or two online to help?

Yesterday went really well. My helper was amazingly cooperative and helpful. I think he is willing to do almost anything to have a "Gramma day". When asked what his favourite job was, he said "Changing the table cloth!" and I realized that was the one thing we actually did together (also a bit artistic I guess as it meant arranging fake fall leaves on the cloth before putting on the clear overlay and and wrapping the pumpkin in an autumn garland). The lasagna turned out well (two pans of gluten & onion free for dd, four larger pans with gluten and onion in for supper, sending out the door with others, and freezing for later). We ate one of the gluten free carrot cakes, and sent the other home with dd. I slept in this morning. No idea why I was so tired LOL. Hope all the Pokeys have a marvelous October. I am happy to see we still have some colourful leaves on the trees, even though there are a ton on the ground. We will have our ds & family for the long weekend, and at the end of the month I plan to drive to Calgary for dgd's hockey tourney and to see everyone down there. Have to remember to register for the LSS crop which will be the first week in November, and hope to have justjac and my niece here at some point to make Christmas cards. Speaking of cards, hoping to see some of your creations over at CARDtober. I see Linda has already posted hers for the first challenge, and I know justjac and gramma are hosting, so we will be seeing some of your cards there. Whooo Hoo! Off to get another cup of coffee...

That sounds like a lovely day grammadee - albeit exhausting. Glad that you were able to sleep in. Girl Scouts for DD16 today so we'll be headed to the city this afternoon. Hoping to swing into Michaels as I have a reward certificate to use - will probably just restock some cardstock colours.

Happy October Pokeys! nylene, I miss all of the fall colors on the mountains. Heck, I just flat out still miss Utah lol. (((hugs))) it must be so hard for both of you watching his sight go. Linda, congrats on completing all the sketches!! Why aren't you on MY team?! LOL I hope you find something fun with your rewards! Everything I always want at Michaels is the stuff that never goes on sale, and that you can't use coupons on lol. grammadee your dinner sounds wonderful, and I would be totally wiped out. That's so sweet that DGS would do anything for a gramma day! I have been down sick for the past week with this crazy cold. Today has been the best day, so hopefully I'm on the upswing. I called in on Monday, and spent the day on the sofa sleeping and watching TV. So no scrapping I had Rudy during dad's practice today. Rudy is grounded from screens for a week, and that was hard on me! LOL so it was several hours of board games and scavengers hunts. We really had a lot of fun, even if a little calm, downtime would have been nice lol. I did get some scrapping in yesterday, and maybe I will get some in during the game tonight. I'm also so far behind on last month's thread that I decided to do the Flylady thing of jumping in where we are, which is here in this thread lol. Waving hi to everyone!

joyfulnana - Thanks - you'll have to ask grammadee about the team selections but it seems to me that she and I are always on different teams - not sure if that's random or deliberate. Not sure about fun at Michaels but I picked up 4 packs of cardstock (citrus (orange/yellow), tangerine (oranges), navy blue, and sky blue), 2 sheets of a cute double-sided cat print PP, and one sheet of a green floral with ladybird beetles (ladybugs). Between my $5 off $15 coupon, sales prices on the cardstock, and my $10 reward voucher...I paid $5 and change for it all. Glad that you're feeling a bit better - hopefully that continues. I got a big sewing project finished yesterday - a bathrobe in a pretty blue plaid flannel for DS31 for his birthday later this month. He's a big guy (6'3") so I was thrilled to find a big and tall sized pattern and not have to alter it. I have a couple more sewing projects to work on - some bowl cozys for the kids (per request) and a skirt for me. I got the pattern prepped and fabric picked out for the skirt. Hoping to join in the crops this week that mom is setting up

Happy Monday! It's been a quite and slow day today. I went to Bath & Body Works to pick up an order of hand soaps. Love the Kitchen Lemon! Hope to do a little cooking for dinner and some crafting. joyfulnana- Sending you some virtual hot tea! Hope your Chief's win last night helps you feel better. linda- So cool that you made a robe for your ds. You really can sew if you can make that. I still would like to dust off my sewing machine and learn how to sew. Maybe before the year ends. I hope you and your dh both had a nice anniversary dinner. How many years? grammadee- I wish you could send me some of that lasagna and cake!!!! LOL! Sounds so yummy! nylene- So fun you took your dh for a drive in a scenic area. We don't get to see autumn tree changes too much here but it sounds beautiful.

Hi Pokeys I'm home from my bike ride and ex.haust.ed. Not physically so much - I did pretty well! - but it feels strenuous to do something so new to me - having to load all your stuff on a bike, self-propel , stay at a different b&b each night, find food (on a bike), in a place that only mostly speaks French (my ears/brain were adjusting but I'd need a couple more weeks of immersion to make progress) - it all just felt like a lot and I'm glad I'm home. nylene - the colours I saw on the trip, oh my! Quebec is in almost peak leaf colour, and we couldn't have had better weather for biking too - about 72 degrees in the afternoons, and mostly sunny. I was actually thinking that I needed to memorize how it looked because there might come a time when I can't see it. grammadee - YUMMY! I think carrot cake would lend itself well to gluten free since it's a moist crumbly cake anyways. Linda - happy anniversary! That is so cool that you've known DH for so long. My boys are also 6'3" (or very close) and my Mom always had to adjust patterns to sew Christmas PJs for them. They were grateful for long-enough pants. joyfulnana - dang colds! DS#2 came down with a nasty one 2 days before I left on my trip, and I was just praying I wouldn't catch it before I left. Now I'm worried I'm going to fall to it the next couple of days since I'm so tired (you know how one tends to get sick *after* an event is over?. I really hope you continue to feel better. Back to work for me tomorrow. But next weekend is Canadian Thanksgiving so I'll have a long weekend to actually relax!

my Mom always had to adjust patterns to sew Christmas PJs for them. They were grateful for long-enough pants. DS is all torso so it's sleeves and top length that he struggles with. I'm only 5'8" and my inseam is actually a tad longer than his - 4/5 of us wear 32" inseams (but I'm the only true 32 - the others would really prefer a 31" if they made it)...dh is the oddball at 29/30"

I'm the only true 32 - the others would really prefer a 31" if they made it We are the opposite! If pants aren't a 34" inseam, they are floods on me. DS#1 wears 36", DS#2 and DH 34", and even Katie (at 5'7") finds 32" inseam a tad too short. When I sit down...I'm the same height as my 5'2" coworkers and I'm 5'9

you'll have to ask grammadee about the team selections but it seems to me that she and I are always on different teams - not sure if that's random or deliberate. I'm pretty sure it's deliberate since you two are the biggest points earners lol. Congrats on finishing a big project! I'll bet DS is going to love the bathrobe. It makes me want to get out my machine I "had to have" and sew some simple projects. Happy Anniversary! kellyr21 I'm happy we got that win, but man I wish they wouldn't let go of the lead so often. And I don't know what's going on with Taylor Swift and Kelce, but I'm ready for all of the hoopla around it go away. She gets such an overwhelming amount of attention, and I'm sure there are players besides Kelce with paparazzi waiting outside their houses and following them. I don't want it to mess with the season lol. kitbop, Yep, tend to get sick after big events or lots of stress. That let down is real and no joke the older I get lol. Your bike ride sounds amazing, and a great adventure! I hope you don't get that cold! I'm 5'2" and it's hard to find pants that aren't way too long, or floods. A 31 would probably be perfect, but 32 is a tad long. Sometimes the "short" size jeans are too short for me. It's hard to find a good fit. I'm feeling quite bit better. Still have some sniffles and a cough, but much better. I also got some scrapping in over the weekend and want to get those posted.

kitbop - hope you don't get post-event illness joyfulnana - glad that you're feeling better and had some scrappy time Today is DD17's birthday! So we'll go out to dinner tonight and then home for cake/icecream and presents during a video call with DD23 and DS31 Right now I have turkey broth in my new pressure canner -new appliances intimidate me so it's taken me a bit to get ready to use it but I put the turkey carcass in the slow cooker last night to make the broth so today had to be the day. I need to make a cake and a birthday card today. Hoping to finish the layout on my desk but it's not a priority.

So sad your dh can't see the fall colours, nylene . But sweet of you to drive him out to see what he can of the spender and describe it for him, and good on him for going along so that YOU can enjoy it all. After a couple of rainy windy days, most of our pretty leaves are now on the ground. Still alot hanging on in our sheltered yard, though. And the kids will have fun with the loose ones this weekend. Supposed to be sunny and warm Saturday and Sunday after a hard frost tonight and tomorrow. Happy birthday to your dd, Linda . Sounds like a busy day, even for you! kitbop , I hope you can fight off that bug that wants to catch you now that you have slowed down. I feel stiff and sore just from doing a little extra cleaning--can't imagine how you must feel after that long bike ride! Glad you are feeling better, joyfulnana , but don't want to jinx it. And really happy you felt well enough to play with paper. Can't wait to see what you created.
And speaking of playing with paper, I was super happy to see your cards and pages in the Gallery, justjac. I have been running around like a crazy person trying to get stuff done before the kids from Airdrie arrive Friday. And I need to pick off the absolute last of the cukes and tomatoes before the frost comes. But this morning dh was gone to help his nephew, so I decided to take some time to knock off a couple of SKETCHtember sketches. Will post them after I get back from town. Ten percent Tuesday here, so I want to pick up most of the groceries I need for the weekend. Okay. gotta go...

Hi Pokeys, DH and I had a nice trip to the city to watch Ain't Too Proud: The Life and Times of the Temptations. It was good. We then stayed overnight. I went to a LSS I haven't been too in a while. It was overwhelming looking at all the stuff. In the end, I just picked up three things: a white alpha sticker set, a pack of stamp envelopes with magnet sheets for dies, and a tube of gilding paste. Then after we got home I came down with a cold. I'm at work today, but wearing a mask so I don't infect my students or co-workers. I did do a little scrapping on Friday and Monday. I made my first 12x12 page in forever and a card for Cardtober #1.
Here's my page: FlamesHave fun hosting your family grammadee . We are heading to my mom's, so no cleaning or cooking, but we will help with yardwork once we get there. kitbop congrats on the bike ride. It sounds beautiful, but tough. nylene sending hugs. I'm glad your DH could see some of the colours. Linda your sewing project sounds awesome. I have a dress I need to take in, so I will have to dust off my sewing machine. I hope you feel better joyfulnana . kellyr21 I love hearing what you are up to. You brighten my day.

Happy Wednesday! Waving hi to you all. I found an art business summit and watched some yesterday and today. Great info. Also, have my regular classes this afternoon. joyfulnana - LOL! I also think it is so funny and ridicules how the grown men announcers are so excited to talk about Taylor Swift at the games. LOL! Yeah I hope Kelsey can keep his head in the game. Hope you are feeling better! linda - You are having fun baking and cooking. I am starting to cook a little more now that the temps are cooling off. I turned my oven on for the first time this week and after a short time, I had to turn it off! Still not cool enough here. LOL! kitbop - I didn't know you and I are the same height! I am 5'9 too. What a trip you had! But I know you are glad to be back home. justjac - Happy to see you and hope you are feeling better, too. You made my day hearing my activities brightens your day. What a fun show you saw. They are having a Whitney Houston show here at our local theater. I am not going but it would be cool to hear all her famous hit sung my another singer.

Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian Pokeys. Have a wonderful weekend with your family and friends. I am grateful for the friendship of each of you! I am sorry for being so absent. We are expecting a boat-load of relatives to arrive this weekend and into next week for a local wedding. They live away, so we seldom see them and don't know their children and grandchildren at all. It's a grandniece who is being married and we are trying to find places for them to stay and ways to get them around from venue to venue. I have boxed everything up so that the hide-a-bed can be used in what used to be a guest room, but is now my scraproom. Therefore there will be no scrapping for a while. With the help of our kids we should be able to accommodate everyone and get them to and fro. I just won't have time for scrapping or posting. I apologize for all your projects I have missed leaving comments. I hope the last 2 weeks of this month give me a bit of catch-up time. Please be patient with me. I hate to miss out on all the Cardtober events, but hope I can catch up with many of them throughout the quarter. joyfulnana, I hope you are feeling better. Have you had a Covid test? justjac, you are so considerate to wear a mask to protect your students. Are you feeling better? I hope so. kitbop, did you manage to avoid the cold? I always seem to get sick after a big event. I hope you are doing well. kellyr21, so nice to see you scrapping. I caught your posts in the gallery. Linda, I know I have missed so many of your projects. I have tried to keep up in the gallery, but have hardly looked at the sharing thread. I hope to do that yet sometime this month. grammadee, you are always so busy. I don't know where you get all your energy. I love your gallery posts. I will catch up with any I missed in a couple of weeks. It sounds like your harvest has been bountiful! Gotta get back to work. Take care of yourselves. I'll be back.....

I love your layout - the embellishment of the lady is absolutely perfect and I love how the photos capture your expressions! grammadee - you've had a LOT of busy family weekends recently! Good luck with this one too. I'm glad to have a quieter weekend - will visit a friend who had surgery, have Thanksgiving supper for the household here, and clear out the yard/garden before it frosts.

Happy Thanksgiving to grammadee, justjac, and kitbop! I hope you all have as relaxing a long weekend as possible! Especially you grammadee! You are so busy. I hope Dean isn't feeling too bad justjac. I LOVE your pages! The theater page looks so fun! Those photos of you are awesome lol! nylene enjoy your extended family! I hope it's not too stressful for you. I'm feeling much better, and mostly over this cold. But. It's been quite a week. After being so unhappy with the way things are going at my job, I started applying for others. I got an offer of a job from the city on Wednesday. And my current immediate supervisors are freaking out! LOL. This is really the absolute worst timing for them, so they are coming up with a counter offer. In the meantime the city upped the ante and is already set to increase my starting pay. I have never been in a position to have so much power LOL! I have to make a decision Monday, and I'm really getting torn. But I feel like it's a win-win. I will either be happier in my current job, or start a brand new one. DS2 is coming over tomorrow to watch the Chiefs/Vikings game, and that's going to be fun. Today, I have so much housework that needs done. Being sick hasn't had me a mood to clean lol. gramma how are you doing? We need a football crop! Waving hi to Linda, and kellyr21! I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Money doesn't automatically make a job better. If they are willing to give you a raise when you tell them you are leaving doesn't it make you wonder why they waited? Ask me how I know ;-) Yes we need a football crop!! Both teams are doing well so I makes we wonder if they will meet in the playoffs. Since your son is coming to watch the Chiefs with you on Sunday that won't be a good day. How about next Sunday? Meanwhile I'm going to see if there is interest is doing one this evening. I went to my sister's surprise birthday party on Monday and came home sick as a dog. Not fun!! joyfulnana

I was willing to take a slight cut in pay to make this jump. My bosses have both said they want me to do what will make me happy. Even if it means leaving. Of course it's in their interest I stay lol. Next Sunday is Rudy's bday party from 2-4. Right in the middle of all the games lol. But I'm definitely up for a crop tonight!
