gramma - I'm glad that it finally closed and you're getting settled in. I MIGHT be able to hop on a Friday evening crop depending on time. I think my DDs are headed to a movie then. kitbop - good luck with the trip and moving crate -and with finding the perfect house. It took us about nine months to find this one. Today was another busy day. Went to the local art gallery and we had a private tour of their Iconic Art exhibit with the curator - she told us quite a bit about each piece - and then wandered around looking at the local art for sale. Saw a piece I loved. If it's still there next time I go, I might get it. Then post office, lunch, and two thrift stores before heading to the high school to watch DD17's academic team meet. It was a close match but they didn't quite have enough points at the end so came in second. My sister and BIL are arriving earlier than expected tomorrow - instead of mid-afternoon, it'll be lunchtime so I had to run to the grocery and pick up lunch fixings and then home for a late dinner (even for us who usually eat at 730 or so...). Rushing around trying to make sure the house is ready tonight. I'm worn out.

Linda, I hope you can build a little down time for yourself during or after this flurry of hosting family members. Safe travels, kitbop. And I hope all the packing and cleaning won't be too traumatic. When the kids and I cleared out dh's mom's home we got to share lots of memories and a few laughs. Baba used to always buy treats for the kids, but Gido didn't approve of their having them except for very special occasions. Cleaning the basement, we found bottles of pop and bags of candy and chocolate bars hidden up along the top of the cement by the joists. We chuckled about his looking down on us, grinning cuz the treats had been successfully hidden from the kids--who were now adults and reading the "best before" dates decided to chuck rather than consume them. gramma I will be in Calgary in total hockey emersion on Friday so unable to crop. I have the weekend hockey schedules for five different grandkids, and should be able to catch at least one game each to see/photograph them playing. My dgd from BC who is in Calgary for a tournament has four hours of "family time" on her hockey academy schedule, and it looks like she will be spending that time watching her cousins play. I didn't sleep well night before last, so decided to leave the lasagna to today. (A friend's tag line on his email is "I don't procrastinate. I delegate tasks to my future self." Guess that is what I did. Tomatoes are cooked (from Monday), and just one batch this time, so not a crazy amount of work for this afternoon. This morning I have been busy finishing up laundry and sorting clothes I will need to pack, also packing up veggies to take to the kids tomorrow, and finding my winter gear. Snowed 6" down there this week... Have a wonderful weekend, Pokeys! I plan to leave home early Thursday morning, hoping to catch a part of dgd's afternoon game.

grammadee Your grandkids will be so glad you have attended and photographed their games. My grands are all in their 20's now and they love looking at the books that include soccer, baseball, track, racing, football, cheer and on and on.

Safe travels grammadee ! grammadee I remember pogs lol. My kids had some. The next few days sound like a whirlwind! Have fun watching those games! nylene that is so cool that Alex likes papercrafting, and knew more than the older crafters lol! It sounds like you are getting a nice head start on your cards. I think Rudy's costume may have a zipper thing for the head. I hope so! Linda , you sound very busy, and you also sound happy at making some wonderful memories! I hope you get a nice amount of time for yourself once everyone is gone home. kitbop good luck getting everything taken care of in BC. I hope it all goes smoothly, and good luck on the house hunting, that's exciting! gramma this isn't going to be a good cropping weekend for me . I'm so glad you were able to get things wrapped up with both houses. Yay to $$ in the bank! So far, I'm really loving the change in hours. I'm not sure what to do with myself yet lol. But it's making a big difference in my attitude toward work. So I think this is a definite win.

Safe travels grammadee! This week ended up both busier and less busy than expected. DH has been out of town working since Tuesday. He’ll be back tomorrow. My friend who is directing a play needed someone to run the lights, so I started that Sunday. There are four performances starting tonight. It is a much smaller time commitment than actually being in the show! Our bathroom renovation was supposed to start Wednesday, so we emptied everything out on the weekend, but now it is delayed until Monday because some of the workers have been out sick. I haven’t crafted since making cards with grammadee Saturday. Here is a picture of us at the craft fair.

justjac, that is such a cute photo of you and grammadee. What fun you guys have! Wish we all lived close to one another. I hope you enjoy your "lighting" job. I'm sure it's less intense that your last play. kitbop, my heart goes with you as you go through your mother's home. That's always such a hard task, but sure to bring back lots of memories. I feel sorry for our kids having to go through this house. Be safe as you travel! joyfulnana, so glad you are enjoying the new hours on your job. I'm glad they let you know you were valuable to them. kellyr21, I checked in on scrapbook dot com and saw that your tags page was trending and featured! It's fun to see your new work. BTW, I got an email from Cindy's granddaughter, Maggie. It was a sweet note letting me know she's grown up and is working and happy. She keeps in touch occasionally, and I love that. I miss Cindy so much. Linda, you have some busy time ahead of you, but what fun you will have with your family. I hope you take lots of photos. I hope this doesn't wear you out by the time they leave. Hosting family takes a lot out of me. I love it, but I pay for it. gramma, right now I don't have plans for tomorrow, so will watch for the crop. I'm still not organized back in my scraproom, but I can chat and do a few things. The American Craft Warehouse opened again today. It has been gone for a couple of years and it's nice to have it back. Em took me there this morning and we shopped until I wore out. I had another fall on Monday and I am sore all over. I did get some cute paper stacks, but really didn't have the stamina to walk the whole store. Em had certain papers she needed and found them quickly. We will probably check it out again once they get all the tables filled. They are still getting things stocked. It should stay until after Christmas, at least. Have a great weekend, everyone.

Thanks for hosting kitbop and gramma - sorry I had to drop out. My tablet had no charge so I was on my phone and it rapidly ran out of charge - oops It's been a fun but busy few days here. My sister and brother-in-law arrived at lunchtime on Wednesdayand left just before 6AM today. We went out to dinner Wednesday night and then yesterday drove to St Augustine - to Fort Matanzas and then out to lunch there with one of my mum's longtime friends and then to the Castillo. It's about 2 hrs away but heading home we hit two different traffic jams and it took us four hours to get home - yuck! We pulled DD17 out for school for the day. Today we took DD23 to our humane society and she picked out two sweet kitties. We'll keep them here and deliver when we visit her and DS at Thanksgiving since her train ride is too long to allow pets. One is a little boy about six months -he's a brown mackeral tabby who was born without a tail. He's super sweet and curious. The other is a beautiful calico tabby girl who is almost 2 years old. She's also really sweet and affectionate. DS31 got to meet them via video call. Then DH's office did a trick or treat event for employees kids - so DH went in to give out candy (he's off this week) and the girls dressed up and trick or treated. DD17 went as Dorian Grey (from The Portrait of Dorian Grey by Oscar Wilde) and DD23 went as the painter who painted the portrait. It was fun seeing all the offices decorated and employees dressed up and kids in costume. Stopped by our local produce store to take pumpkin patch photos afterwards and then the girls went to the movie cinema.

he's a brown mackeral tabby who was born without a tail A manx! How lovely. They are awesome cats, different personalities and I love the "jack rabbit" legs they grow to counteract the lack of tail. We had one when we first got married and he was my first ever cat (my Mom was allergic) and definitely my baby.

kitbop - I believe DD23 has decided his name will be Thumper - in part due to those jackrabbit legs His shelter name was Oak. The other one's shelter name is Catrina but her new name hasn't been decided on.

gramma , kitbop , I'm sorry I missed out on the crop. How late did you go? I'm always wondering how we managed so many regular crops before. The I remember duh, the pandemic and everyone was at home with nothing to do lol. And msliz was the one that committed to starting them. Does Friday at 4PM west coast work pretty well? I could plan better and be a regular at a Friday evening crop. I'm going to pop into mom's crop for at least a little while today. I've been losing steam, and it's easier to make myself stay put if I'm cropping with others. Heck, even when I get nowhere on a LO, it's nice to have the company of the peas in my getting nowhere LOL! Sunday was going to be crammed with things, including having Bub during dad's practice and taking DS2 shopping, but Rudy came home from school with a bug, so maybe I'm not going to be so busy, we'll see. Linda your week does sound busy, but also fun. I want to adopt another cat so bad sometimes, but I'm not going to do that to Abby. She would hate it. Her 3 year anniversary with me was Tuesday. I can't believe it's been that long already. It's gone so fast. The trip to DH's office sounds like fun, and those costumes sound awesome, I hope you'll post some pics. nylene ! You had another fall? I hope you are feeling better and it sounds like it wasn't as bad as the fall down the stairs, but still worrying. (to me, because I worry about all of y'all). That is so sweet that Cindy's granddaughter keeps in touch with you. That would be so fun to go to the American Crafts sale. I don't need another thing but it's fun to look. kellyr21 I saw your tags at sb.com too. That LO is beautiful! I rarely check the gallery there, cause I'm just there to spend my money lol, but decided to give it a look and there you were. I need to get to our gallery and check it out. I've been so bad about that lately. justjac , I love that picture of you and grammadee , I love seeing your smiling faces! Have fun the running the lights!

joyfulnana - hope Rudy is feeling better soon. I should be able to pop in on a Friday evening crop most weeks I think. 4pm west coast is what? 7pm est? We usually eat dinner at 730ish so I would be on the later side by the time we're done and cleaned up. DH left this morning carrying an empty cat carrier...I do believe DD17 is going to have a grey furry surprise when she gets up...there was a real snuggle-bug of an older grey cat (maybe 7-ish?) yesterday and DD17 has really been wanting a cat of her own... Our humane society is in crisis - there's a state wide rescue currently on site helping with animal care and I think they've found some rescues to take many of the animals this coming week. it's really sad. They are at/over capacity and were already understaffed and then lost several staff members - it's unclear whether they quit or were fired (I've heard both versions). Dropping DD23 off at the train station this afternoon -we're going to miss her but tomorrow is DS31's birthday and she's headed back so they can celebrate together and she can bake him a cake.

joyfulnana, I hope Rudy will be feeling better by Halloween. No one around here is celebrating and Trick-or-Treating until the 31st, but I see around the country that some are doing it today. Will he go out on Halloween night? I can't believe you have had Abbie for 3 years. It makes me realized how long the Pokeys have been friends! No wonder we worry about each other. I am doing ok. My back hurts, but it has hurt for a long time. Linda, thanks for the prayers in my behalf. I know they help and I am just stiff and sore and embarrassed. My son-in-law just picked me up like a weighed nothing! (how I wish) I'm so glad he was home. It looks like you will have a houseful of cute kitties. I love the name Thumper. So cute. Those cats don't realize how lucky they are to be in your family. Glad you had a good time with relatives. gramma, I watched during the day for a crop to pop up, but by 5pm we were off doing other things and I didn't check the computer again until this morning. Sorry I missed you. I would love to have a set time for a crop. Fridays at 4 Pacific would work for me if I know ahead. I can usually be available any day except Sunday. I'm sorry you are having internet problems at the new home. Hope you get it straightened out. grammadee, I hope you are having a good time. I don't know how you have the energy to travel so much and still get so much done. You are amazing. kitbop, is it next weekend that you are going to get things crated for shipping. I hope everything goes well with that. I have been such a "flake" the last 2 months. I'm hoping for a better November. I finished 105 Christmas cards and am a bit scrapped out. I still need to make interactive b-day cards for 2 DGDs. Waving to all the Pokeys! So glad we are friends!

(((Hugs))) nylene -I hope you're taking it easy and will be feeling less sore very soon. DD17 is over the moon excited about her new kitty. He's very sweet and snuggly and loves pets and cuddles and is just perfect for her. She's still deciding on a perfect name for him. He's 6.5 years old so not as old as we thought. We dropped DD23 off at the train station this afternoon - she'll get into Richmond at 4-something in the morning. Tomorrow is DS's 32nd birthday - he'll be celebrating by getting up very early to drive an hour to Richmond to pick her up. No scrapping today for me and probably not tomorrow either as we're dropping DD17 an hour away at 8am and will have to pick her up again at 4pm. She's going to a Canoe Skills day with her Girl Scout troop.

Linda - how many kitties do you have in your household today? I know you'll take the 2 to your DD next month, but I'm curious how many litter boxes you run We have 2 litter boxes for our 3 cats because the 1 cat is the sick fella with bad guts and it's NOT pretty. Even though my oldest cat typically uses the outdoors, the litter boxes are still . It's part of moving that I'm looking forward to: a more remote place for litter boxes! nylene - we leave Thursday night for BC, and come back Monday. The moving crate gets delivered on Friday. I so wish we could take DS25 as there is some heavy stuff to put into the crate...but he has work and I didn't want to ask him to take precious vacation time. While we're there, we will likely have to demolish the piano and carry the pieces out. I've been warned that the sound board is cast iron and will weight 300+ lbs so that's gonna be interesting to get out LOL about "flake" - 102 cards is not my definition of "flake"!!! joyfulnana and I talked about maybe doing a regular Friday evening crop and see if it is convenient. It works for us because after a work week we're ready to pack it in and ignore chores! I can't this coming Friday obviously But I can commit to opening a crop on Nov. 10 at 6 or 7PM EST. gramma - very much hoping your DS can get your computer to behave so you can chat with us. Miss you! justjac - cute picture! So nice to see peas in real company together. You really sound like a jack of all trades in the theatre - from acting to costume design to stage manager to lighting!

kitbop - currently 6 cats (2 that leave at Thankgiving and 4 permanent residents). Right now we have 5 litter boxes - one in our bathroom, two in the utility hallway, and then one in the upstairs guest bath (the visiting kitties are currently confined to that bath and one of the adjoining guest rooms) and one in DD17's en suite (her new kitty is currently confined to her room and bathroom). The three new kitties came from a cattery at the humane society so are used to sharing. Our original three are also accustomed to sharing. I have space to add one more in the guest bath if needed. The usual suggestion is to have one more box than you have cats but we've always done okay with the same number or even 1 less than we have cats. Regular Friday crop would be nice - I probably wouldn't be able to hop on until about 8 EST though. Hopefully gramma's computer will be back to behaving soon. I think all the go-go-go has worn me out. I didn't sleep well last night and while I got DD17 up and out the door this morning, I begged off going along and went back to bed.

Happy Sunday Pokey's! nylene I am so glad we are all friends too! I'm glad you aren't feeling too banged up. 102 cards is not being a flake! Holy cow, that's a lot of crafting! I would be exhausted lol. Linda all the new kitties sound so sweet, and I'm sure they are grateful and happy to be in your family. Very lucky cats indeed. Happy Birthday to DS, I hope after the drive it's an awesome day. I would be totally exhausted by all the go- go - go, I hope you can get some rest. I got a new computer so I may need someone to "approve" me opening a crop this Friday, if anyone is available. If I know ahead of time, I can make sure I have something ready to go. I'm a wee bit excited at the thought of a regular crop time gramma I hope you can get your connection figured out. A Friday night crop brings back memories of crops at the LSS on Friday. grammadee I hope all of your hockey teams are winning this weekend! kitbop is there any way you can sell the piano? That sounds like a lot of heavy lifting and some hard work to get it out of there. I really hope it all goes as smoothly as possible for you. Rudy is feeling back to himself today, so he'll be ready for Tuesday lol. nylene, the kids will go out on Tuesday night here, although I'm sure there are probably some trunk or treat events going on this weekend. No practice today so just shopping with DS2. And I'll pick him up shortly for some lunch and shopping. Hopefully home and in fairly early. The weather here is cold and damp and we may be getting a wintry mix later. Thinking about driving in bad weather has me really glad I stayed put with my job lol.

Happy Sunday! Waving hi and hope you are all having a lovely Sunday. I didn't sleep well last night and stayed in from church today. I might of gotten 4 hours of sleep. Hopefully tonight I will sleep like a baby! LOL! Still early out here so when Ron returns we hope to get out to the park or somewhere local to relax. nylene- Oh, I am glad you are ok. Plus, you have been in cards up to your pretty little head so I know you are tired. But a good tired! So happy you have been able to do all these fulfilling activities. But take it easy my friend. So great you heard from Cindy's dgd!!! I miss Cindy, too and glad to hear your dgd is all grown up and doing well. Time sure flies bye! My cooking classes are with a group called, "Homemade" and they are good. Last week was shrimp and grits. I have never had that and it looked so good. Yum! joyfulnana- Glad your new schedule is working out. Terrific! Yeah, I have been taking so many M's classes for the last three years and last week I skipped most of the ones I had on my schedule. Now that the weather is better (I hope), maybe I will get some other things going for fun. I do like the cooking classes and might check those out this week. linda- You have had a fun few weeks with family and the outings! SO happy for you! I would have loved to go to the art galleries with you. Did you buy that one art piece you liked? What did it look like?

Linda, so many kitties, so many snuggles! Was it hard to put your DD on the train? I miss Anj and family so much when they leave. I'm glad you can all be together for Christmas. I hope DS had a good birthday. That's a kind brother to get up so early to meet his sister's train. kellyr21, I hope you get to go out and enjoy yourselves today. It is cold here today. We will have 40 degree temps for the next few days and then it should warm up slightly. We have had a lovely, warm fall and I hate to see it come to an end. Your cooking classes must be fun. I have only eaten grits once, and that was enough. Guess I wouldn't be a good Southerner. What else have you learned to cook? joyfulnana, I will watch for a crop on Friday evening. It will give me incentive to get this boxed up scrapbook room unboxed. I wish you could all come to the American Crafts warehouse sale. Their cardstock is so pretty and vibrant compared to the cardstock at Michaels. I resisted, but did get 3 12x12 paper pads for $15 dollars total. Just wandering through the warehouse is fun.

Hi Pokeys! Our bathroom reno got bumped again because of sick members of the construction crew. It is now supposed to start Friday. I wouldn't mind so much, except we have now got to rehang our shower curtain for the second time in a week, and we continue to have our toiletries in travel bags and boxes for no reason (yet). The play went well, but not perfectly. You pretty much can't be perfect, so I have to let that go. Next weekend is our LSS scrapbook crop, so I am looking forward to hanging out with grammadee and a couple of our other friends. kitbop good luck with everything. That piano sounds like a lot of work! Linda your cats sound wonderful. kellyr21 I am wishing you a wonderful sleep! nylene I would love to go to the AC warehouse with you; although, my bank account probably wouldn't love it. I went to the LSS and signed up for Maker Mania 9 in 2024 because the supplies are going to be by 49 and Market. They are my current favourite and I just bought a bunch of their new fall collection. joyfulnana I would love to hang out with you, but I already have a regular Friday night hangout. I might try to sneak in to say hi.

Good Tuesday morning, Pokeys! Happy Halloween! I am looking forward to handing out treats from dd's front door while she keeps an eye on her Trick-n-Treater. And taking pic's of him and his friends as well as receiving Halloween photos of his sousins from my ddil's. nylene, I hope you are feeling better after your fall. I agree with kitbop: that is a LOT of cards & doesn't sound like flaking off at all. Hoping your trip to BC goes well, kitbop. And that the good memories will sustain you through the inevitable grief and fatigue. When you say "destroy" the piano, does that mean you will be scrapping it (as in disposing of it)? Or do you mean "dismantling" it for transport? If you are actually destroying it for removal, is there someone who can come in and do that job for you and cart the pieces away? Linda, I cried when I said goodbye to the dgk's on Sunday, and another set on Monday, even though I will be seeing many of them again in December. It's okay to be sad. But enjoy your quieter house. Have fun with the new kitties while you have them. Did your youngest dd end up with one of her own? No daytime crop this Wednesday, but hoping to start one on the 8th when Dh has appointments all day. I arrived home yesterday evening after the drive from Calgary with a stop in Edmonton for lunch and Costco. Also hit one LSS while there. Really should have left that points for $ spent in the challenges--between that stop and this upcoming crop I could have earned us a bundle, joyfulnana! Need to bring in my Costco purchases and clean out the vehicle today to make room for loading scrappy supplies and tools for the LSS crop this upcoming weekend. Those scrappy supplies have yet to be packed, but hey, I have a list!
