No one is talking about the next shutdown. The 17th is the deadline right? Has anything been done on that. I mentioned a shut down this weekend and I was looked at like I was crazy.

"Trump has become also increasingly confused about things. He sometimes he thinks that he lost to [Barack] Obama in the last election," he offered. "He confuses basic facts and says some rather strange things, but there isn't much attention paid. As we get closer to these primaries, we'll see where not just Trump is based on these criminal cases, but where he is now as a human being."

More 'word salad's

As former President Donald Trump took the witness stand on Monday to testify in his civil fraud trial, CNN anchor Kate Bolduan was shocked at how apparently incoherent his testimony was.

In particular, at one moment, Trump seemed to suggest his properties were both valued too high and too low.

"His take on his — his description of his involvement in these financial statements, and it seems somewhat from the quotes coming out like a word salad on the stand," said Bolduan. "And some of them ... I thought that the apartment was high, and we changed it, and earlier, he said that he thought that the values were off on the financial statements at times both high and low, and ultimately Mar-a-Lago was underestimated as we heard him say outside of the court, and then he said, 40 Wall Street was very underestimated for tremendous value."

"And the attorney, and one of the state, Kevin Wallis, one of the attorneys seemed visibly surprised when he said both high and low, and pausing to review a transcript before asking Trump to elaborate."

Former President Donald praised himself for what he called "conclusive" evidence after he testified at his $250 million fraud trial.

During his contentious appearance on the witness stand, prosecutors grilled Trump to prove damages in the fraud case. The witness repeatedly gave them the ammunition they were looking for.

But following his testimony, Trump claimed to have the upper hand.

"This is a case that should have never been brought," he ranted outside a New York courthouse. "It's a case that should be dismissed immediately. The fraud was on behalf of the court."

Trump repeated his claim that the court had found his Mar-a-Lago home was worth "only $18 million."

"They had no idea what the numbers were when they said $18 million for Mar-a-Lago. And it's 50 to 100 times that amount by any estimation. It's a terrible thing that's happened here. We're taking days and days and weeks and weeks, and it goes on, and then you look at the outside world and what's happened," he said, trailing off.

Trump then referred to his own testimony.

"And this is a case that should have never been brought, and it's a case that now should be dismissed. Everybody saw what happened today," he said. And I think you saw what I had to say today and it was very conclusive."

"Everything we did was absolutely right," Trump added. "To think that we're being sued and spending all this time and money and yet people [are] being killed all over the world that this country could stop. With inflation and all of the other problems that this country has, I think it's a disgrace."

What's sad is that he is trying to get away with fraud among many other things - he has never been held accountable for his actions so he just keeps doing more and more stuff. Nothing short of jail will stop him but even then he will get people to send him money the poor mistreated billionaire. If he hadn't broken the law so many times no one would be taking him to court he wouldn't have over 90 felony counts against him

My husband is flying back from Ireland on the 17th. Last time it took a few weeks for the real issues with flying to happen. I just can’t believe that no one is talking about a possible shutdown. The week before Thanksgiving. I guess the new speaker and TFG’s court cases are more interesting. Of course Israel is going to be in the news as it should but come on guys. Do your dang jobs. I can’t believe that it’s gotten to if you work together for the good if the country it’s considered a bad thing and the name calling starts. Working together is what used to be the norm heck that’s what you learn in kindergarten.

Exactly I wish I could but they won’t change their mind. They are older and it just isn’t worth giving myself a stroke. But yes I would do love to do that. We don’t see them often only a few times a year for a few hours these days.

U.S. Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA) Monday dropped on X a video that appears to be in support of his candidacy for Conference Vice Chair.

“This is my team,” Collins declares in introductory text that includes movie clips of Keanu Reeves, Ryan Gosling and the late Heath Ledger (who can be seen being head-slammed by a Batman with Collins’ face superimposed over Christian Bale’s.)

A candidate for a Texas city council seat has been charged with two counts of child pornography -- and he was arrested just hours before the election, Newsweek reported.

Brad Benson, who was running for Place #4 on the Granbury City Council, was arrested on Nov. 6. The Republican Party of Hood County withdrew its support for him shortly after.

"Crimes of this degree tear at the heart and soul of society, and we condemn them in the strongest terms," an RPHC spokesperson said in a November 6 statement. "The Republican Party stands for the conservative, family values and the protection of children. These heinous acts are antithetical to what Republicans stand for." (me: really?)
