I am still using my cameo 1 but would love to upgrade. Wondering if the 5 is the one I want or not.

If I upgrade, it will probably be to the Cameo 4, which is a really good price right now. The electrostatic mat of the Cameo 5 appears to be intended for more delicate materials, and it is sold separately, so that adds almost an extra $100 to the cost. The Cameo 5 may also have a few extra features, but comparing them side by side (at their online site), I really didn’t see any additional capability that made me feel as if I need the Cameo 5. I don’t really cut “delicate” materials.
I love my Cameo 3, which they no longer sell, but I am a bit tempted to get the Cameo 4, since it’s a great price right now, and I’m concerned they are going to discontinue it.

Where are you seeing good pricing on the Cameo 4? I have a 3 and have same concerns.

… The electrostatic mat of the Cameo 5 appears to be intended for more delicate materials, and it is sold separately, so that adds almost an extra $100 to the cost … I don’t really cut “delicate” materials. … As discussed in this thread, the Electrostatic Mat is not required. This optional accessory is an alternative to an adhesive mat only for cutting delicate materials. Therefore, users who don’t (often) cut thin materials won't need to spend the extra $100! … Cameo 4…I’m concerned they are going to discontinue it. It’s my understanding the Cameo 4 was discontinued upon release of the Cameo 5. Only remaining inventory of Cameo 4s at retailers is available.

I hope I’m not shooting myself in the foot by posting this, since I haven’t bought it yet, but it’s available at Silhouette America. It’s discounted by $80:
