not in the past but since my niece started making it, it's her go-to pot luck dish to bring.

I think it's a southern thing. We never had it for Thanksgiving growing up, but I started making it a while back because it's pretty common in this part of Texas. We like it with roasted poblano peppers mixed in.

Growing up I did not even know it was a thing people did to have this at Thanksgiving so I’m definitely not used to it, but I have had it a few times as an adult and I can understand it. It’s comfort food, and people have treasured family recipes, which is a hallmark of a lot of dishes.

Growing up in the north, no. Now that we live further south, it's a staple on our holiday menus. Honestly we really only make Mac and cheese for holidays. Each of my kids is asked to choose one item and make it for dinner (all are 18 and up, two live at home and two do not) and DS1 always volunteers to make his Mac and cheese.

No, we have mashed potatoes, stuffing, and rolls. No need for mac and cheese on top of all that! I never thought of mac and cheese as being fancy enough for holidays, but I do make it for Christmas some years No need? Why not? LOL...... I never been to a Thanksgiving dinner when there is 'no need' for anything.. HAHA My mom never made homemade mac and cheese, so that is why I didnt consider it fancy enough. I make it from scratch and it os glorious! I prefer cheesy sides with ham and stuffing/mashed potatoes with turkey. Now, if I saw some mac and cheese at a T-giving meal, I would definitely have a bit!

We never had it when I was growing up, but I would have vastly preferred it to the highly overrated mashed potatoes and gravy. We’ve served it when DS was living with us because he’s a picky eater and doesn’t like typical Thanksgiving food.

I think of it as a Southern thing. It is a staple at my sister's for Thanksgiving- she lives in NC, now that I do too, (10 + years) I can't imagine thanksgiving without it!

Never had it at thanksgiving before but will be bringing leftovers this year. My daughter is home from college and requested home made Mac n cheese. My husband and I just finished grating the cheese and we did way too much so I’m going to make two batches and bring one. My sister in law serves a tofu Turkey so I feel like all the extra calories are warranted!

No normal for me in all my years! But I would enjoy a good mac 'n cheese. My DIL was raised having/doing lasagna, her Italian roots.

My sister will often bring the mac'n cheese with corn dish to various family gatherings...bleh. I love a good mac'n cheese, but I do not want corn with it.

We do, but it’s more of a corn casserole with shells and cheese.

I thought it was more of a Southern tradition. I'd eat it at any meal.

I didn't grow up having it as part of our Thanksgiving meal, but here our extended family has it on the menu (usually as bacon mac-n-cheese). I don't love it - there are so many other side dishes I like better, but there are factions in the family that would revolt if there was no mac-n-cheese (esp. with the bacon). So, I picked "yes" in the poll even though I myself rarely eat it at Thanksgiving...I'm usually taking 2 kinds of stuffing and 2 kinds of potatoes instead.

We've never had it and I don't now any other families that have either. However I read so much about it here and online that last Christmas I added it as a side and I loved it!

Yes…but only because it’s my nephew’s favorite food. We didn’t have it until he was born.

I never thought of mac and cheese as being fancy enough for holidays, but I do make it for Christmas some years This. It’s too common for a holiday meal. Since we don’t normally have homemade rolls, dressing or real mashed potatoes (DH likes them mashed with the skins on) with homemade gravy we would rather have any of that than mac and cheese.

Sometimes. My mom makes a delicious mac and cheese. Sometimes we throw it into the Thanksgiving meal but more often than not we don't.

Born & raised in the southeast (NC), I've never seen or eaten mac & cheese for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, etc. It's not part of my family or social circle's traditions.

I never did growing up, nor did we at our nuclear family only meal. My aunt always prepared it for her grandkids, but I don't think it was a tradition.

It is not a tradition in our house, however with recent dietary restrictions & a vegetarian we do now have vegetarian Mac & ‘cheese’ casserole

We do not server mac & cheese at Thanksgiving or any holiday meal. I have seen a couple of Walmart commercials this year and there was mac & cheese on the Thanksgiving table.

Made the Mac and cheese today to stick in the oven tomorrow. It’s one of the favorite dishes of the day.

Nope, never. I had never heard of having it at Thanksgiving until just a few years ago and I'm 66.

I think it's a southern thing. It is absolutely a southern thing. It's very frequently on the table for Sunday dinners, holiday meals, and every single potluck in the south I've ever been to. Often known by the moniker "macaroni pie." We do, but it’s more of a corn casserole with shells and cheese. Then, no, you don't. No corn in mac and cheese. That's blasphemy. Born & raised in the southeast (NC), I've never seen or eaten mac & cheese for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, etc. It's not part of my family or social circle's traditions. Really? I'm a bit surprised. Maybe you're in some little geographic anomaly that's devoid of mac & cheese. Lol.

Another Southern woman that never had it at Thanksgiving. Or almost any family gatherings. Actually, none that I can think of but I’m sure it must have been served at a summer potluck or BBQ that I’ve been to.
