I know I’m definitely in the minority but I just don’t love 49 and Market. I have a few of the more solid pieces but I just don’t love the overall esthetic. I’m also disappointed in the Silhouette Design Store…it seems the vast majority of the designs are geared towards vinyl users. They don’t offer many title cut files you often see in paper crafting. I guess just a vent that after a long hiatus from scrapping, the supplies I loved are no longer available and what is available isn’t what I love. I have plenty of old stash but I lost a lot of it so many ‘collections’ are so theme specific and I am more like Janet at rts scrapbooking and it’s ‘mood and feel’ for me. Generic embellishments are hard to come by

49th and Market isn't my style, either. I was tempted by the B sides of papers that look like monotone mixed media. I did buy 3 packs of rub-ons at a LSS recently. I thought they'd be nice embellishments. They go on so easily!

I love 49th and Market, but I find that I collect their stuff and just look at it. Not so much really use it. But I do more mixed media and cards and zero scrapbooking.
I am 100% with you on the Silhouette Design Store. Anymore you have to get in there and dig to find designs that are more paper oriented. I would even expand and go so far as to say the designs of the the machines-both Silhouette and Cricuts-are geared for vinyl users. Although the Cameo 5 looks like it is not as much that way. But I guess they know the market, and the majority of ppl buying are cutting vinyl. Personally, I HATE cutting vinyl. I just cannot do it. Mess it up somehow EVERY TIME.
My unpopular opinion...I detest puns. I cringe at pun-ny sentiments. And they are everywhere. Kills me.

I love 49 & Market. I can understand why it only appeals to some people, though. There is a definite aesthetic. My unpopular opinion...I detest puns. I cringe at pun-ny sentiments. And they are everywhere. Kills me. Me too! Not a pun fan. I don't think I've ever used one in my titles. Squeeze the Day drives me bonkers. I'm not a fan of changing the spelling of anything, either. The teacher in me can't deal with it.

I don’t purchase Echo Park, Carta Bella or PhotoPlay. Just too cute and not really my style. I love the texture of CB but not enough to spend $1+ a sheet and not use.
This year Simple Stories has been my first choice. I purchased a lot of 49 and Market and have plans for some specific projects.

I think scrapbooking likes, loves, styles, sizes, types and brands of products used....are "to each, their own". It's very okay to have different tastes and styles (the same goes for everything in life....clothing, homes, decor, etc...). What one person loves, another may not like....and vice-versa. As long as I love and am happy with my scrapbooks and the products used in them....that is all that matters. Don't worry about what anyone else thinks. Use the products that you like and love. If you don't like something, you don't have to use it.

I am more of a 49 and market sightseer. It is beautiful, and I bought pieces of it, but like many of the European lines, it’s too fancy and vintage for most of my photos. I did pick up a bunch of the colorful, generic line they released last year, but other than the film strips, not much else.
Un-popular opinion - Although I love to scrapbook, I find most scrapbook video content boring, redundant, and monotonous, particularly classes about scrapbooking. I don’t want to learn how to “make” the page the content creator is making. I am interested in learning skills that relate but are applicable to all pages, like color theory, graphic design, mixed media techniques, etc.

Doodlebug ruined Balla Blvd when they took over.
I hate putting titles on layouts, I rarely did.
Classes or process videos for project life type scrapbooking make zero sense to me. There is no process. Slipping cards into pockets does not require a lesson.

I’m just much more graphic and linear than 49 and Market…I’ve used a few sheets of their paper but I just don’t see many layouts using it that I really like.

I don’t document young kids so I find them difficult to use

I don't ever take classes per se, but I do like to watch certain people's process. I enjoy hearing why they pick a certain paper or stickers etc. And seeing why they put things together. I know that's not for everyone, but I think it's interesting. Shimelle is good too watch for that. A couple others too.

Generic embellishments are hard to come by I think the 49 and Market papers are lovely, but I think they are often hard to use for layouts. With other companies, the designs are often too cutesy. I have grandkids, but my layouts aren’t exclusively about them. I disagree that the Silhouette Design Store is mostly geared toward vinyl users, although they do have a lot of those designs. However, they also have a lot of print and cut files that can be used just like ephemera that you buy at the LSS. Try searching just for print and cut files. Also, cut files can be turned into print and cut designs in the Silhouette software. I use titles on my layouts, but I usually make them instead of buy them from the design store. I have nicer fonts that I like far more than what I typically see used for titles shown in their design store. It is extremely easy to make your own titles in the Silhouette software. You can download free fonts, or buy fonts you like from their design store. To buy fonts from commercial font sites is usually more expensive. I know that certain font styles are popular, especially for the titles in the design store, but those fonts don’t usually suit my style. If you aren’t using your Silhouette to make your own titles, print and cut, and other designs, you are missing out on creating pages that truly suit your style better than what is offered for sale, especially since you’re having a hard time finding what you want in the scrapbook stores online.

I used 49 and Market for the two weddings we had last summer. Loved the paper. I also bought a ton of the travel paper for a cruise we took. I think it is harder to use than other lines though. I look for inspiration and when I find it, I am ready to go. It just isn't paper that says user friendly. I will say that Simple Stories is probably my go-to line for layouts. The patterns, colors, and ephemera packs make it pretty easy. I just bought the Great Outdoor line from Mintay and can't wait to use it. It doesn't have as much of the blue-white color background that most of their lines have. They are really pretty saturated colors that will go with my pictures well. ETA: Yesterday it snowed and we had two baby deer just napping in a sitting area in the back yard. The two moms were also hanging out. My first thought was the Paper Roses or Stamperia lines would work well with this! Then the turkeys showed up. There really isn't a good line for wild turkeys.

I am more of a 49 and market sightseer. Same. I have very few pieces. I did become obsessed with their filmstrips this year. They are a fav embellishment. If I have to have a piece of very pretty paper that I don't know what I will do with it, sometimes I stick it in my album to cover up a page behind. Especially if it does go with the theme/season. Then it's getting used without the pressure to figure out how to scrap it.

Tim Holtz and his entire distress-verse is overrated. Same, I do like the ink pads though and will still buy them but I haven't bought anything TH related in many many years. I do like to watch certain people's process. I enjoy hearing why they pick a certain paper or stickers etc. And seeing why they put things together. Also same, I like hearing the thought process people go through when deciding what to add and why. It really has helped me in my scrapbooking. I also don't like Bella Blvd and Doodlebug because they're too cutesy for my tastes but I do like seeing what people create with them. The whole "fangirl" thing with the big scrapbook names is not something I would ever do. I don't get it.

Mine is that I don’t understand the October Afternoon love. I don’t remember it when I was scrapping back in the peak of all the collections. I look at collections of it now and they don’t interest me at all. I’m like meh. I even bought a collection on peachy cheap a while back to see if it would trigger any fondness or creativity. It didn’t. It just isn’t my thing I guess.

Ah, finally another Pea not into October Afternoon. I just don’t care for the Americana art there or actually anywhere. I don’t take classes anymore since I’m only interested in process info. I don’t want to make a layout or card that’s a clone of someone else’s. Of course if you get a bunch of cool free stuff that’s a whole different thing. Distressed Oxide ink. I don’t like that it changes color when you blend it. I’m ok with most of the distress-verse other than those weird ugly, IMO, stamps. Shakti that’s an awesome term.

I have found some nice stacks at Joanns that aren’t overly bright or cutesy. What I wish I could find is small ink cubes at a decent price locally so I can see what I’m getting before I buy.

I'm bored by the idea of continually scrapping about me or other people. I look at all my albums and think why? I rarely look at them and my family doesn't care. I like playing with paper, tools, and embellishments, but I wonder if it's worth the effort.

I love 49 & Market embellishments. I find the leaves, frames and tickets to be pretty generic. I have bought a lot of 49 & Market and am officially on a "diet" with their floral lines. I have made some lovely layouts with these lines, but I just don't have a lot of formal photos that work with these lines and I have A LOT of this paper. I really like their watercolour-looking b-sides as backgrounds and will continue to shop for those as basics.
I cannot for the life of me do mixed media. It just ends up looking chaotic and messy. That said, I love to shop for inks, sprays and stencils. I really need to make more of an effort to use them.

I rarely look back at project and albums, it’s almost 💯 playing with paper that I need. I’ve tried cards, no interest for me. I do find some joy in junk journaling, and this supplies tend to be really cheap.

Among my trend/brand dislikes: - Themed papers/embellishments (grateful for classic patterns on reverse sides & skip most embellishments) - Florals (which continue to abundantly bloom throughout most collections regardless theme or brand) - Non-archival & bulky embellishments (e.g. acrylic, wood, metal) - Papers with a glossy finish (see here) - Paper pads with gummy binding - Unsnipped die sets - Floating icons, scene, photorealistic, people, & detail/fussy cut patterns - Wonky patterns/handdrawn illustrations & scrawly fonts (e.g. Crate Paper style) - Faux mixed media, watercolor, distressing, etc. (e.g. 49 & Market) - Feminine/vintage/old-fashioned/frilly/floral aesthetic (e.g. many non-US brands) - American Crafts pattern paper brands (e.g. Paige Evans, Maggie Holmes), including cheap acrylic stamps, ink cubes, etc. - Inked brands (e.g. Studio Calico, Ali Edwards) ... & more ETA: i miss the past designers/companies too. i can't remember the last time i bought a collection. thank goodness i have a stash that's (mostly) stood the test of time.
