I like 49 and Market but only buy the paper packs (foundations?) that are not themey and are more subtle. I like their embellishments because they're different (like the film strip thingies.)
I wish there were less words on scrapbook embellishments... or at least new and original ones. I can only use so many "life is better in flip flops" per lifetime.

Among my trend/brand dislikes: - Themed papers/embellishments (grateful for classic patterns on reverse sides & skip most embellishments) - Florals (which continue to abundantly bloom throughout most collections regardless theme or brand) - Non-archival & bulky embellishments (e.g. acrylic, wood, metal) - Papers with a glossy finish (see here) - Paper pads with gummy binding - Unsnipped die sets - Floating icons, scene, photorealistic, people, & detail/fussy cut patterns - Wonky patterns/handdrawn illustrations & scrawly fonts (e.g. Crate Paper style) - Faux mixed media, watercolor, distressing, etc. (e.g. 49 & Market) - Feminine/vintage/old-fashioned/frilly/floral aesthetic (e.g. many non-US brands) - American Crafts pattern paper brands (e.g. Paige Evans, Maggie Holmes), including cheap acrylic stamps, ink cubes, etc. - Inked brands (e.g. Studio Calico, Ali Edwards) ... & more ETA: Same I would love to see your pages, and what paper brands work for you. Me too.

I would love to see your pages, and what paper brands work for you. While I appreciate your interest, I don't post/share my layouts. My style is simple, clean, linear, minimalist, & "magazine-ish," so I use pattern paper sparingly & few embellishments. I start each layout with a sheet of cardstock & primarily use classic patterns (e.g. stripes, plaids, dots). Currently, my favorite manufacturers are Bazzill, Echo Park, Simple Stories (non-vintage collections), & Pinkfresh (non-floral collections, especially IACB collaborations). I'm also grateful to still have supplies from defunct manufacturers (e.g. Chatterbox, KI Memories) in my inventory, since I find them more creative/diverse/versatile/usable & less themed/repetitive than recent releases.

I know I’m definitely in the minority but I just don’t love 49 and Market. I have a few of the more solid pieces but I just don’t love the overall esthetic. I’m also disappointed in the Silhouette Design Store…it seems the vast majority of the designs are geared towards vinyl users. They don’t offer many title cut files you often see in paper crafting. I guess just a vent that after a long hiatus from scrapping, the supplies I loved are no longer available and what is available isn’t what I love. I have plenty of old stash but I lost a lot of it so many ‘collections’ are so theme specific and I am more like Janet at rts scrapbooking and it’s ‘mood and feel’ for me. Generic embellishments are hard to come by I think the 49 and Market papers are lovely, but I think they are often hard to use for layouts. With other companies, the designs are often too cutesy. I have grandkids, but my layouts aren’t exclusively about them. I disagree that the Silhouette Design Store is mostly geared toward vinyl users, although they do have a lot of those designs. However, they also have a lot of print and cut files that can be used just like ephemera that you buy at the LSS. Try searching just for print and cut files. Also, cut files can be turned into print and cut designs in the Silhouette software. I use titles on my layouts, but I usually make them instead of buy them from the design store. I have nicer fonts that I like far more than what I typically see used for titles shown in their design store. It is extremely easy to make your own titles in the Silhouette software. You can download free fonts, or buy fonts you like from their design store. To buy fonts from commercial font sites is usually more expensive. I know that certain font styles are popular, especially for the titles in the design store, but those fonts don’t usually suit my style. If you aren’t using your Silhouette to make your own titles, print and cut, and other designs, you are missing out on creating pages that truly suit your style better than what is offered for sale, especially since you’re having a hard time finding what you want in the scrapbook stores online. I typically use a font and create my own titles. I’ve not had good luck with the print and cut but I didn’t mess with it much to work out the kinks. I just see some fun cut files that you can back with patterned paper and don’t see many of that type of style in the design store. To me…it’s very heavy on vinyl designs for signs or shirts.

I used 49 and Market for the two weddings we had last summer. Loved the paper. I also bought a ton of the travel paper for a cruise we took. I think it is harder to use than other lines though. I look for inspiration and when I find it, I am ready to go. It just isn't paper that says user friendly. I will say that Simple Stories is probably my go-to line for layouts. The patterns, colors, and ephemera packs make it pretty easy. I just bought the Great Outdoor line from Mintay and can't wait to use it. It doesn't have as much of the blue-white color background that most of their lines have. They are really pretty saturated colors that will go with my pictures well. ETA: Yesterday it snowed and we had two baby deer just napping in a sitting area in the back yard. The two moms were also hanging out. My first thought was the Paper Roses or Stamperia lines would work well with this! Then the turkeys showed up. There really isn't a good line for wild turkeys. I just have way too many albums already to devote a layout to deer in my yard. Maybe a spot on a month in review layout but I’m trying not to create a burden for my loved ones when I’m gone

My son and I take wildlife pictures a lot. Bighorn sheep, mountain goats, moose, bears, turkeys, marmots, etc. For now, they make us very happy.

I'm bored by the idea of continually scrapping about me or other people. I look at all my albums and think why? I rarely look at them and my family doesn't care. I like playing with paper, tools, and embellishments, but I wonder if it's worth the effort. You like playing with your stuff, so it's definitely worth it. No one looks at the scrapbooks I make, either. Well, occasionally my grandson looks at his hockey books. I have instructed my kids to just get a dumpster and toss everything, if no one wants them. I'm hoping they just pull out some pages they like. Either way, I had the pleasure of creating them, so it's not wasted.

I bought a limited amount of 49 and Market for wedding pages but don’t see myself ever using it again.
I don’t miss Basic Grey at all. I gave all of mine to a friend a couple of years ago…she was thrilled.
I like Tim Holtz inks, tools and tiny word stickers and that’s the extent for me.
I love watching Shimelle’s videos/lives but have only ever purchased from one of her lines (Never Grow Up) and most of it is now in my granddaughter’s craft cubby.

Either way, I had the pleasure of creating them, so it's not wasted. I agree with this. I don’t scrapbook with the dream that my kids will line the walls of their homes with the albums. I do it for me. My granddaughter has 8 albums and she’s not 8 years old yet. If they all end up in a dumpster so be it.

I have a whole wall of albums (I'm sure no one is surprised) and while my kids have assured me that they love the albums and plan to keep them - I've let them know that I don't expect them to keep every layout and I will not come back and haunt them if they toss some or even most.
For that matter, I've gone back and tossed a few layouts here and there and consolidated albums.
But I enjoy scrapping and my whole family enjoys taking nature photos so...bring on the deer and squirrels and birds etc...

nicolecardella , I am glad you are making your own titles with your machine. I apologize for misunderstanding. I agree that the Silhouette Design Store is heavy on the vinyl designs for both t-shirts and home decor, but there are also a lot of great designs that are geared toward scrapbookers, too, especially if you can get your machine to do print and cut properly. If you have had difficulty getting good results with print and cut, I am wondering if you had problems calibrating your machine? If not, I hope you’ll try again. I had to calibrate my machine twice for some reason, so I guess I didn’t do it correctly the first time, and it was frustrating. Once my machine was properly calibrated, print and cut has been one of my favorite features. Another print and cut option is to use their patterns to fill shapes, including titles, but also banners, and just about any shape you want. Recently I was struggling to find the right colors of patterned paper for a project, despite my huge stash. I finally checked my Silhouette print patterns, filled the desired banner shape with a Silhouette pattern that was perfect, and I was very happy with the results.

49th and market is hard for me to use too. It’s pretty. But I struggle to translate it into my style. It really isn’t my style. I guess that’s why 😂
The “vintage” lines from Simple Stories are also not my jam. Again, pretty. Hard to use. I avoid, even though I like the look of it in theory. I’m glad they haven’t totally gone this direction with ALL their collections. I prefer the stuff Kelly Bangs (?) does for them even if I get a little tired of all the pink and teal.
Graphic 45 is impossible for me to use. No clue what to do with it.
I don’t scrap pages with Tim’s paper stuff. I adore his mixed media products though. 🥰 His paper collections are a bit too vintage looking for me but I love them on altered projects I’ve done as gifts.

Nothing TH except distress ink pads.
I'm not a fan of any of the historic, victorian, vintage and distressed styles of paper and stickers Not a fan of fairies, gnomes or mushrooms

I’m not a huge fan of 49 and Market, but I have bought quite a bit of it. It is working very good for specific projects I’m working on for my parents and grandparents. I’ll have extra of it when I’m done, and I’m going to give it to a friend that loves it for everything.

One of the lines I got was Curator's Meadow for an outdoor wedding. I can definitely use that for other nature photos. I also got Viken and that one is a bit more tricky. Maybe a few baby pictures?? A much harder one to use though.

I really, really dislike gnomes. I find them creepy and weird. And I really don't like when they are substituted for elves in Christmas lines and decor. They're not elves. Elves can be a little creepy too, depending on the style. I won't even get started on that disturbing Elf on the Shelf.

Swedish/Scandinavian elves/Christmas elves/goblins/spirits/gnomes, called nisse or tomte (as well as come additional names in the various Norse languages) really are traditional and really are associated with Christmas and the winter solstice. They are certainly called gnomes in English more often than elves, though many depictions look very much like elves to me.
The particular gnome that is overtaking paper crafting, with eyes hidden by hat and mouth by beard, so the only facial feature is the nose — that idiosyncratic rendering is creepy and not traditional.

I don't have much luck with the search feature on the Silhouette library. Can you recommend a font that would work? Also if there is a tutorial on making titles with fillable fonts, I would love to watch it. The way I'm doing it now can't possibly be the best way. Thanks so much!

I can’t stand those pick up trucks full of decorations for whatever holiday or season. I just find them silly and unattractive. And of course they’re back right now filled with Christmas trees or piled with wrapped packages. In reality who would pile presents in an open truck bed?
