scrappyrabbit - safe travels and enjoy the holidays with your folks. kellyr21 - thank you for the prayers. Sounds like your BIG canvas is coming along nicely - that's a great deal on canvases at M's. I got the two trees up - in the foyer and living room - no decorations yet but they are pre-lit so they do look pretty with the lights. I also put up my small table top tree in the craft room - that one is decorated because I stored that way lol. The rest of my bushel of tomatoes are peeled, quartered, and in the crockpot. I'll can them tomorrow. I made Reeses cookies (chocolate with PB chips) for tonight's Advent celebration to go along with the chocolate covered gingerbread cookies from Aldi. I finished up sewing the 5 gift bags for our book exchange - I found fabric with a books on shelves print for them. I had to pull out my mum's old machine from the 70s though for the last one. The bobbin case on my machine is plastic and it's finally worn down too much to seat properly. I'll order a new one and also schedule servicing/cleaning for it in the New Year so I'll use mum's for now.

Good Monday afternoon, Pokeys! Coming back to this post after being called away from the computer to help dh a couple of hours ago. How did your cookies turn out, joyfulnana? No cookies this past weekend, but dgs and I baked a zucchini chocolate cake for his dad whose birthday it was. Dad won't be home til the 15th, so we iced and decorated the cake and then put a lid on it and put it in the freezer at their house. How are your dh's eyes doing this week, Linda? Hoping he can see an improvement now? Your Christmas Market adventure sounded fun. No way we could plan an outdoor one here, although there really is very little snow and the temps have been balmy for December. Congrats to your dd on completion of her SAT's. Takes a bit of stress off, I would hope. Have fun with your giant canvas, kellyr21. I am not a painter. The most I can do is a card front, starting with a stamped image and then finishing with inks and a water brush. Anything I colour with markers or crayons or painbrush looks like a 7 year old did it. How was your Christmas party, nylene? Hope you had fun. That penguin card is delightful! (I love all the cute little penguins that are popping up all over scrappy papers this year). Has you dh had a chance to use some of his new gizmo's yet? It really is hard to teach an old dog new tricks, and dh and I both struggle with anything electronic that is supposed to make our lives easier. kitbop I giggled to read about how your dd is just like you in placing ornaments on the tree. I used to supervise much more closely, but now that dd's family has done the tree almost--and sometimes completely--solo, I am just happy to have the tree up and lighted and decorated. It makes me happy. I have my geese and angels out now and hope to put out a few Santa's and snowmen tomorrow. Then all the decorating will be DONE. I am glad it stays out until after "Ukrainian New Years" on January 15th, so even up late I still get lots of time to enjoy my Christmas decor. Travel safely, scrappyrabbit, and take the time to really enjoy Serena's first Christmas. How special! Please share some pic's with us. The past few days have been a blur with dgs since Friday. He had a cold and a fever so didn't go to his hockey game Friday. But was completely recovered yesterday except for a dry cough, so I took him in to play in his team's home game. I took him in to school this morning, and need to get back into town by the time school lets out. He is walking to their house after school and then I will be taking him to power skating class before bringing him back to the farm. Same routine tomorrow with hockey practice substituted for skating. I was going to decorate this morning when I got back home but decided to do a little paper crafting instead. It felt GOOD! Finally finished a page that will serve as a sample for both the Donna Challenge and this past Sketchy Saturday. Cleaned up my card making supplies and made one more card which I will share later. Have homemade soup in the oven ready to be eaten for supper whenever dh gets hungry and then when dgs and I get home. Okay, got a couple more things to do before driving back into town, so see ya later!

grammadee , you have had a busy weekend. Your family is so blessed to have you free enough and well enough to help with the grandchildren. It sounds like they are busy boys! I'm glad you got some down time to scrap a little. I hope to do a little of that tonight. Linda , any change in DH's recovery? I hope so. I would love to see photos of your book bags. That sounds like perfect fabric for those. Is your mother's sewing machine an older model? I have my mom's too, but I sew so little now that I don't give it a good work out. Hope you can replace your bobbin casing. joyfulnana , your baking sounds delicious! I am really dragging my feet with baking because we won't have many around for Christmas and I don't need the extra calories. Did Rudy help you over the weekend? kitbop , I chuckled at DD's taking after her mother for ornament placement. LOL. What fun to have grown kids still helping with the decorating though. I can't seem to make myself put the rest of the ornaments on the tree. I guess I'm hoping one of the kids will come do it. kellyr21 , I am excited about the big canvases you have bought. I'm sure they will turn out beautifully. I love the way you lay on so much beautiful layers. Keep filming! scrappyrabbit , have a safe and restful trip. I hope you can just relax and enjoy that first Christmas. AussieMeg , did you get started decorating? Getting everything brought down (or up) is half the battle. Will you have a lot of family around for Christmas? We met baby Gracee yesterday. She is a cutie and much different from her sister. It took a while for her to warm up to us, but Swayzee was so excited to see us. It has been a year since we saw her, but she ran and hugged, and hugged and hugged. I gave her the little penguin card and she clutched it to her chest saying, "I love it, I love it." She knows how to make a great-grandma feel good. We had a great visit with our DS and family and came home with delicious left-overs. I hope all our Pokeys have a great week. It seems Christmas is creeping up too quickly!

Your Christmas Market adventure sounded fun. No way we could plan an outdoor one here, although there really is very little snow and the temps have been balmy for December. It was in the upper 70s for the market - a little warmer than ideal tbh. We have a freeze warning tonight though. any change in DH's recovery? I hope so. I would love to see photos of your book bags. That sounds like perfect fabric for those. Is your mother's sewing machine an older model? I have my mom's too, but I sew so little now that I don't give it a good work out. Hope you can replace your bobbin casing. I think he's seeing lighter shadows now so some improvement. He goes back on Monday to see his surgeon so hopefully a good update then. mum's sewing machine is a Singer Fashionmate - I'm not 100% sure but I think she probably bought it in 1980 when we moved to the states - I suspect the machine she had overseas wouldn't have worked here so she probably sold it and then replaced it. It's the newest of my older machines - I have a Singer 99 from 1937 (knee lever); a Singer 128 from 1923 (knee lever); and a Jones Family CS from 1927. DH likes buying me old machines, lol. Sorry your GSon was sick grammadee but glad he's feeling better. I love youor layout - glad you found time to papercraft I'm so glad that Swayzee remembered you and wanted lots of hugs - and that you finally got to spend time with Gracee nyleneIt seems Christmas is creeping up too quickly! YES very fast I got more tomato sauce canned up today and have pears cut up and soaking in sugar that I'll make a small batch of jam with tomorrow. Made brownies for DD17 - she has Academic Team Districts tomorrow during school (her team is hosting)

AussieMeg , did you get started decorating? Getting everything brought down (or up) is half the battle. Will you have a lot of family around for Christmas? I put the tree up on the weekend, then DS and his girlfriend decorated it yesterday. I had to laugh, because they’d already started putting the baubles on when I got home. DS had wanted to do an ombré tree, but his girlfriend thought that was a silly idea, so she wouldn’t let him. I think it would have been cool. My Pea Christmas cards are trickling in. I now have five sitting on the shelf. They look so pretty! We’re only having 9 people in total for lunch on Christmas Day. How wonderful that you finally got to meet Gracee! I can’t wait to see some layouts of Gracee and Swazee.

nylene how fun that you got to meet little Gracee. It is funny how different babies’ personalities can be. We made it safe and sound to my parents’ house. It’s 4.5 hours of driving, and we only made one stop, so we made good time. Serena slept the whole way pretty much because we left at 5:30 am. Normally Arthur does great in the car, but for some reason he got carsick five minutes away to our destination. Thankfully I now stock baby wipes in my bag. Poor doggy. Both Arthur and Serena were happy to see their grandparents!

scrappyrabbit, gives me a chuckle, the irony, a peaceful long drive with a young baby only to be thwarted by your normally angelic puppy. Glad you made it and can cozy into place now for the Holidays! You should have given us your parent's address so you could get your pea-cards...you'll have a nice stack when you get home! nylene - how sweet that Swayzee is so affectionate and engaged! Glad you got a visit in with them. We’re only having 9 people in total for lunch on Christmas Day Only? Sounds like plenty! It's usually just the 5 of us. We don't have family nearby to join, and closest friends have more family than us.

kitbop I know that’s the funny thing. And now Arthur doesn’t want to eat his kibble so I hope he’s not coming down with something. The baby slept well her first night in a new place, but she doesn’t want to go down for a nap today. I’m interested to see how the rest of the month goes, as we are also trying to transition her out of the swaddle. Oh and don’t worry about the mail to my place, my neighbor will be collecting it for us and watering our plants.

We’re only having 9 people in total for lunch on Christmas Day. Only? Sounds like plenty! It's usually just the 5 of us. We don't have family nearby to join, and closest friends have more family than us. I'm with kitbop here - it'll just be the 3 of us for Christmas - the olkder kids will be on their own in VA and there's not much extended family left We made it safe and sound to my parents’ house. I'm so glad that Serena travelled so well. Sorry Arthur isn't feeling well. Hope he's on the mend soon I got my pear jam finished up and canned. Cut out some soup cozies that I'm making as Christmas gifts (by request) - hope to get those finished up today and then get potholders cut out for tomorrow's sewing. I'm not really feeling like sewing so...here I am procrastinating on Refupeas, lol. I do have a couple more potential sewing projects to do so...hopefully my mojo shows up. Once those are all done -I need to do a layered cut file for a shadowbox as a gift. I tried cutting it once before and it kept tearing so I set it aside for later but later is fast approaching if I want to get it in the mail. Fortunately it's for my bestie and we have an Epiphany gift tradition because we're both always late with each other's gifts.

That's the parents, siblings, and niblings on both my and DSO's sides. The blessing and the curse of living within 5-7 minutes of most of one's family and in-laws!

Your lovely card arrived, kitbop, and I loved both it and the envelope it came in! I am packing up myself and the boy and heading out this morning. Dropping him off near Edmonton with a family that has provided respite and day care for him most of his life, so he is excited to stay there until Mom gets back tomorrow. Need to make a couple of stops between there and Calgary to pick up gifts I have ordered for pick up, and then at my other ds's home to drop off Christmas gifts. Should be at ds's acreage by suppertime and am there until after the weekend with their boys (aged 10 and almost 12) while ds & ddil are in Vegas. Will check in when I catch my breath!

Well I am here at ds’s. Plans to shop in Calgary this morning have been derailed somewhat. One of the boys woke up with a cough and yucky feeling. No fever. I gave him a drink of water and sent him back to bed. Hoping a couple hours sleep will help restore his energy. If he feels better by noon I will drive him to school.
This is what Grammas are for, right? Staying home with sick kids? I know I dumped my share of them with my dMIL…

grammadee - glad that you made it there safely. Hopefully your grandson is feeling better soon. I had DD17 home yesterday - I don't think she was sick so much as tired and worn out. I got the bowl cozies sewn up and some kitty placemats cut and sewn (fish shaped to go under the food and water bowls). Decided against the potholders as I couldn't find the thermal batting in stock locally but picked up some PUL to make some fabric covers instead - that's today's project along with one more bowl cozy for DD17 - she was too underfoot yesterday to work on anything for her. We had waffles with homemade strawberry sauce and cinnamon rolls yesterday for St Lucia's day - we don't always mark that one but since she's the patron saint of eyes/eyesight, she seemed appropriate this year especially.

Happy Thursday! Today, I tried the skillet enchiladas I told you about from my class. Oh, they turned out some good and I didn't even use all the ingredients. Adding that heavy cream was a good surprise. I have never heard on that for enchiladas. I used ground turkey but next time I will use the lean ground beef. I can't wait to have them for dinner tonight. joyfulnana, I loved not turning on my oven. LOL! Here is the recipe if anyone is interested. Link HereSo far my new canvases and I are just looking at each other. LOL! I wish I had a big studio to work on big canvases like this. Hoping to find a local space to create in at some point. linda- Glad you have been fun baking and cooking! I wish I could smell and taste all the goodies you have been making. grammadee- How lucky your grands are to have you staying with them. I loved being with my grandmother and at her house especially when I was sick. nylene- SO sweet to hear how your dggd hugged her card from you. She is a doll! Oh, I got your beautiful card, too! Thanks so much!!!

Hey Pokey’s! Man I’ve got lots to catch up on. Hahaha cookie day ended up with 2 dozen cut out sugar cookies, that are now long gone lol. We debated making more dough but with about 4 cookies left to decorate, Bub was ready to be done with it lol. So I still have all of the baking to do. I tell myself I’ll do some after work, but I don’t know who I’m trying to kid lol. I get off at 11:00 tomorrow and have one errand to run to renew my tags, and then I’ll be having an afternoon bake session. And probably most the weekend. Shopping is nearly done, and I’m a lot less stressed about it all this year. I’m not sure why or what made the difference, but man I’ll take it lol. kellyr21 thanks for the link! I don't mind turning the oven on if it's really cold outside, but if it's much above 40 it gets too hot in here lol. That's awesome that you've already started the big canvas! lol Linda I chuckled at the tradition you have with your bestie lol. You sound every bit as busy as grammadee. I hope DH is seeing more improvement. Your St. Lucia's Day feast sounds delicious. I'm so happy you got to meet Gracee nylene. That's so sweet that Swayzee remembered you and was so happy to see you. And that she hugged the card is so cute! I have tried to downsize my Christmas baking, but every time I mention letting go of some of the more time consuming things (sugar cookies, peanut butter balls) some one or another pipes up saying "that's my favorite!" so I bake it all lol. scrappyrabbit I hope Arthur is feeling better and Serena settles in well for the rest of the month. kitbop and AussieMeg I will have me plus three, so 9 sounds ginormous. kitbop I'll be picking up dinner from the grocery store catering department again grammadee, yep that's what we do isn't it lol. That's so good he was excited to see his past day care family. I haven't had a zucchini cake of any flavor in years and they are soooo good too. I hope the boys are both feeling just fine and no sickness! I hope everyone has a great weekend!

I typed up a message last night but must not have pushed reply. I was very tired and must have just spaced it. So rather than rewriting everything I will just say that you all sound so busy and ready for Christmas. I love hearing of your baking, cooking, traditions and fun with grands. I spent yesterday making 12 loaves of fruitcake and today making a big pot of chicken soup, while helping DH with another wood project. I did slip away long enough to pick up some photos and to get some new blades for my paper trimmer. We have had such wild winds that they almost push you off your feet. I was glad to get home safely. I hope you each have a productive, but restful weekend. We are going with Em and family to SLC to the Forgotten Carols production again this year. DH can't see anything going on on the stage, but but he said it's not just about the seeing, but the feelings too. It's a beautiful production and we love the music. I will come back to chat later. BTW, Happy Birthday to kitbop today.

Omg kitbop happy birthday! Arthur seems to be feeling much better and is back to his normal self! My grandmother has arrived and she is in love with her newest great grand baby, Serena. She will gladly entertain her for hours or hold her while she sleeps. I’m all for it as it gives me a break too. Today was another no-nap day for the baby. I left the baby home with my husband and grandmother while my mom and I went to Kohls, Joanne, and Carters. I didn’t find anything at Joanne! I was disappointed lol. Tomorrow, our neighbors are hosting an annual Christmas party, which I am looking forward to. linda how is your dh recovering? I hope you dd is feeling better as well. kellyr21 that recipe sounds delicious! I don’t think we can see the link though, since we aren’t subscribed to the cooking class.

Thanks for the birthday wishes Pokeys! Nothing too special here - work, supper, a red velvet cheesecake from costco (my pick. Unsure of my verdict on it tho - cake seems a little dry). I did pick up my free birthday Starbucks which always taste fab because it's free! I snuck another day off today to try to get some things done. I too have to get some baking done and my crochet project needs work! But my MIL's calendar is postal and I remembered to take pictures this year. Last year it got mailed before photos, and it's a weird feeling have a project out there but no memory of what it looks like. grammadee - what a huge comfort to your kids and DGS that you are there! Did he improve?

Sorry I missed your birthday, kitbop . Too bad the cake was dry. Or did you just say that so we don’t get too jealous? Happy baking day. I brought a tray of treats for this family to share, but I notice it is magically emptying out of the freezer LOL. Speaking of baking, that sounded like a perfect session for you and the boy, joyfulnana . Great memories. Did you get some pic’s? and twelve loaves of fruitcake? Are you kidding us, nylene? Dgs is up and getting ready for school. Still has a nagging dry cough and he asked for a note to his PE teacher cuz running aggravates it. He was totally back to his normal almost-twelve-year-old annoying self this morning. His dad is a hoot, but I remember those days when that sense of humour was developing. Lots of groaners.

Hello peaps! Sorry I've been MIA. December is a killer month for me at work and this year is harder because I'm training my replacement at the same time I'm trying to get all the tasks done on time. As well, I have to explain why we do some of the things we do. Like providing WalMart (yes WalMart!) gift cards to the people we support. Over 300 cards that have to be put it envelopes with their names on them. But the handing them out process? Now that is fun!! And I'll miss participating in that. Recently the State of California enacted a training program for Direct Support Professionals (the people who actually work with the people). If the employee took the class the State funded $500 to them, through the individual agencies. So - 300 checks to be processed and in the mail today. My replacement says, Why the rush. Because it's Christmas you nimrod!! Last weekend my son and my daughter and her family went to Monterey for 3 days. It was a surprise to her for her 50TH. Wow - my baby is 50!! Linda I hope your husband's eye is improving. Ken had to have injections in his because of some sort of edema. It was brutal to watch. Have a wonderful holiday joyfulnana Making cookies with kids is "fun" - right. If the stamps for my cards ever arrive so I can mail them, there is one for Rudy. Have a great holiday. grammadee It sounds like you have been your usual energizer bunny. But isn't it wonderful to be not only needed, but wanted. Enjoy all you babies and their babies for the holiday AussieMeg I'm so glad you joined in this little group. I saw that you got your outdoor space completed. Nice that you will be able to use it for the holiday. kellyr21 You are so talented it makes me jealous. Enjoy your holiday kitbop Your birthday was yesterday? The 14th? I knew there was something special about you. That's my daughter's birthday!! Any progress on finding a new home? Best wishes for a wonderful holiday I'm going to end this message and start another before I lose it all - -

OK - to continue justjac I hope you and Dean are doing well and have a happy holiday scrappyrabbit Take loads of pictures this holiday. I'll bet you are so happy to have your own little family unit. There is nothing like a baby's first Christmas. nylene So sorry to see that Steve's sight continues to degrade. But wonderful that you have found new supports for him. He seems like such a sweet man. Enjoy your babies and their babies and their babies. I have a new great-grandson, born 3 weeks ago So I think I got everyone - - I've been busy with work but I really am beginning to look forward to retirement. I know, I know, you've all heard that before I've also been busy Christmas shopping (on line) Do you suppose people would object to getting their gifts in Amazon boxes? Yes? Well I've yet to wrap one single thing. Discovered yesterday that the blankets I ordered from Kohl's were delivered to the old house. Kohl's made it right though and the replacements should arrive today! I've gotten all the Christmas cards done - but I don't suppose the post office will deliver without postage. I thought ordering directly from the postal service would we quick and easy - UH - No! So at this rate ya'll may get your Christmas cards by Valentine's Day! Love to all you "pea people". You have no idea how much your support has helped me over the last year! Just 2 more "big days" to get past this year. Ken's 80th would have been tomorrow. And Christmas, he loved Christmas

Good to hear from you gramma. Hope things slow down for you soon—except for the things you want speeded up, like gift deliveries and postage stamps. I have yet a different kid home this morning rather than at hockey practice—woke up this morning with headache and sore throat. I would say I was sick of this if it didn’t mean I would have to speak the words “I am s*%k” in the middle of that sentence. Don’t want to tempt fate…

Happy Saturday Pokey's! So good to see you popping in gramma, thank you for sending a card for Rudy! He'll love that. ((((hugs)))) as you get through this hard time. Oh no grammadee another sickie?! I don't blame you for not even putting those words into the universe in any form! I hope they all feel better soon and it just passes on by you. I did get pics of the sugar cookies. Especially the first one that was decorated lol. He asked if he could go all crazy on it, and then it had so much sugar and icing on it he took two bites and said he didn't like it LOL. Today is peanut butter balls and finally the ginger snaps, maybe no bake cookies. Cleaning and laundry. Spritz cookies came out well, so those are finished. Mostly just chugging along here. I'm still knitting on blankets in odd moments when Abby will let me do that in peace lol. She's so nosy! LOL my crochet project needs work! How did I not know you crochet? What are you working on? Linda any improvement with DH's eye?

joyfulnana , wow, you have really been in a cookies mood. Wish you could hand me one. I had to giggle at Rudy deciding that too much frosting makes them not that tasty! What fun to make cookies with him. gramma , so good to see your face popping up. I have thought about you so much through this season. I hope Ken's b-day and Christmas can bring good memories along with the heartache. Wish I could reach out and give you a hug. I hope your retirement goes as planned and that your replacement can do a good job. I know they will miss you. Loved hearing about the sweet Christmas miracles you are providing for your clients and coworkers. grammadee , I am sorry you have had sickies. I hope they recover quickly and that you don't get the bugs. You have done so much traveling lately, I hope your immune system hasn't taken a beating. When you get home, will you be home through Christmas? No more traveling except grocery shopping? Linda , can DH see any improvement? I'm glad he's meeting with the actual surgeon on Monday. Praying that a Christmas miracle will come to him and give him healing sight. I had to google "bowl cozies". I have never heard of that! But what a great idea. After Christmas I want to get my great-grandmother's treadle machine going and make me some of those. Your collection of sewing machines really resonates with me. I have the old Singer treadle, purchased with egg money in 1902, my mom's decorative Kenmore and my Bernina. I need to use them more, but Alex really wants to sew on the treadle so that's a 2024 goal. kitbop , glad you had a nice treat for your birthday. I think taking a day off work sounds like a lovely birthday gift to yourself! What are you crocheting? scrappyrabbit , I'm sure your DD's great-grandmother has loved holding and rocking her. Be sure to take photos! It's nice that you can leave her and know she is well cared for. Also take a 4 generation photo. I wish I had done that when my older children were young and still had great- grandparents. justjac, I don't think you have told us your Christmas plans. Will you be at home or traveling? kellyr21 , I hope you and Ron are ready for Christmas. I couldn't see the recipe you posted, but it sounded like something DH would like. What fun to try out new recipes. How is your canvas doing? I can't wait to see what you do. What a talent you have. AussieMeg , I have a hard time getting my head around a summery Christmas. What are you plans for Christmas? We are hoping for a white Christmas. I was reading stories to DH the other night and read Erma Bombeck's Christmas Chimes post I cut from the newspaper many years ago. She talks about when you personally "hear the chimes" at Christmas time. It is a humorous, but tender article. After reading I told DH that I have been kind of ho-hum about the whole holiday season this year. But I did hear/feel the chimes as Alex helped set up my decorations, and again when we met and enjoyed little Gracee, but last night I heard/felt loud chimes when Angie called to say they are coming for a few days after Christmas. Now I am really excited and anxious to make cookies and goodies. If you want to read the cute post, just google Erma Bombeck Christmas chimes. It's short and a fun read. I will try to post a link but I may do it wrong. You all know how techno-challenged I am. www.beliefnet.com/columnists/sweetshore/2011/12/erma-bombeck-christmas-chimes.html

I tried the skillet enchiladas I told you about from my class. Oh, they turned out some good yay - I love when new recipes turn out well. Your St. Lucia's Day feast sounds delicious. Thank you! I spent yesterday making 12 loaves of fruitcake sounds delicious - one year, I want to make fruitcake - not this year though linda how is your dh recovering? I hope you dd is feeling better as well Thanks - DD is fine - I think she just needed a day at home. DH is improving slowly. But my MIL's calendar is postal and I remembered to take pictures this year. Last year it got mailed before photos, and it's a weird feeling have a project out there but no memory of what it looks like. Happy Belated Birthday! I'm glad you got photos of the calendar - I've regretted not taking some in the past before mailing also. December is a killer month for me at work and this year is harder because I'm training my replacement at the same time I'm trying to get all the tasks done on time. As well, I have to explain why we do some of the things we do. Good to see you back on the thread. I'm sorry work is so very busy. How much longer do you have before retirement? Ken had to have injections in his because of some sort of edema. It was brutal to watch. Have a wonderful holiday DH has had injections regularly also. I haven't had to watch thankfully but shudder I have yet a different kid home this morning rather than at hockey practice (((Hugs))) hopefully he's feeling better soon and no one shared with you Today is peanut butter balls and finally the ginger snaps, maybe no bake cookies. Cleaning and laundry. Spritz cookies came out well, so those are finished. Mostly just chugging along here. I'm still knitting on blankets in odd moments when Abby will let me do that in peace lol. She's so nosy! LOL You're so busy - I need to get baking but I need to finish sewing first. Dropped DD17 off at 9am for a Girl Scout day hike - it was supposed to be an overnight backpacking trip but we're supposed to have bad storms tonight so they were playing it safe. Then we headed into the city to finish up Christmas shopping. Then back to pick her up at 2pm - and then the park she was at had a Christmas event so we stopped there as well - it was somewhat smaller than expected but it was was nice - there were model trains set up and Santa Claus. I got my picture with Santa since DD refused. Home now -downloading photos and then sewing...I need to finish up the bowl covers so I can get them wrapped and in the mail Monday. Tomorrow I'm wrapping and hopefully baking as well as grocery shopping. Last night we went downtown to the Historical Museum for their Christmas Event - DH got HIS picture with Santa since DD refused then also.

AussieMeg , I have a hard time getting my head around a summery Christmas. What are you plans for Christmas? We are hoping for a white Christmas. I love summer and dislike winter, and I can't imagine anything but a summery Christmas. Although it would be fun to experience a white Christmas once in my lifetime. I've been looking at the long range weather forecast for while, although it's kind of pointless - they can't even get the next day right half the time, why would I think they can get a month in advance right?! A week or so ago they were saying that it was going to be 22 C (71 F) which would have been perfect - not too hot but pleasantly warm. Now they're saying it's going to be 27 C (80 F). That's the upper level of my comfort zone for running around cooking and serving. That's what the temperature is going to be today, so I will see how pleasant (or not) it is under our new pergola.
