FINALLY
One hundred and five Republicans and 206 Democrats voted to expel George Santos (R-N.Y.) from the House of Representatives on Friday. Santos had survived two previous expulsion efforts but could not overcome a third one after the release of a House Ethics Committee report two weeks ago that found “substantial evidence” that the freshman lawmaker had knowingly violated ethics guidelines, House rules and criminal laws.

He’s not been convicted yet of criminal charges, but the house committee found him guilty of ethics violations and house rules violations.

Wow I mean if they can do that to George Santos of all people. What do you mean by "of all people?" He has been found guilty of numerous House Rules, and numerous ethical violations. I am pretty sure within the next 3 months there will be criminal charges relating to the campaign donor credit cards.

Finally! The Republicans seem to have no problem with unethical people in office. I'm glad they finally did something about him.

Oh, I needed some indication of the sarcasm. Thanks for the clarification.

How does a person like Santos even get elected?
With 330,000,000 people in the USA, that is who gets elected?
No checks and balances along the way, no vetting process?

I think the same thing about Marjorie Taylor Green, Paul Gosar, Louie Gohmert, Lauren Boebert, and others. It’s rather scary to think they were elected by fellow citizens.

I think he is guilty as hell But have a problem with someone not convicted of anything being ousted. He was expelled for breaking the US House rules! Not specifically for his alleged crimes. ETA: The locks on his former House office have been changed.

I think he is guilty as hell But have a problem with someone not convicted of anything being ousted. There are 2 federal indictments with 23 felony charges against him, the house ethics committee findings (with Republicans in charge) in a 56 page document with "substantial evidence" of misuse of campaign funds for botox treatments, luxury hotels, designer clothes, an adult entertainment website and other things, and documented lies to voters about everything under the sun, including his education, career, check fraud, his charity, the 2020 election, the Holocaust and Judaism, the Sept 11 attacks and the Pulse club shooting. He was expelled by more than a 2/3 majority, 206 Democrats and 105 Republicans. Not sure how much more evidence you need. He's only the 6th member ever expelled, it's not like this has become a common occurrence. from the ethics committee investigation “At nearly every opportunity, he placed his desire for private gain above his duty to uphold the Constitution, federal law and ethical principles,” ethics.house.gov/sites/ethics.house.gov/files/documents/ISC%20Report_0.pdf

Let's not get too excited about the Republicans doing the right thing. There are 221 of them, and with 105 voting to expel, that means upwards of 116 voted NOT to expel. And beyond that, I heard the top 4 Republicans in the House were actively trying to keep him there.

I think he is guilty as hell But have a problem with someone not convicted of anything being ousted. I suppose, but we’re not talking about putting him in jail. He just lost his job. In my state, jobs are at will and you can let someone go for pretty much any reason (that’s legal.)

Took them long enough and I agree with Fetterman, Menendez has to go too.

When the most recent mess with Menendez came out, I posted it and stated that he should go. Because, you see, I am willing to post about a Democrat who screws up, unlike you!!

I think he is guilty as hell But have a problem with someone not convicted of anything being ousted. Initially I thought this. BUT I do think it's ok because he did get his due process (the ethics committee). Now, if they had just voted him out on what was in the media? Not ok. But the Ethics committee did its due diligence and showed proof. Im ok with that.

Our political system, esp. the Republican side at this particular time, has become such a circus that decent people don't want to be involved in it. FWIW I'm in favor of expelling any public servant who violates ethics rules, regardless of party, from congress right up to the supreme court and presidency. Send a strong message.
