aKathy's What's for Dinner? 12/7

I, too, hope bklyngal62 is feeling a little sunshine today.

I need to run to the library. I might go here in just a few minutes. I have some books due back, one I didn't like at all, and then a book about soup for pick up. I will also do some journaling, both private and December Daily.

Dinner tonight will be at my mom's house. Who knows what she's serving!

We’re having meatloaf. It’s another meal everyone will eat. I’m guessing there will be mashed potatoes and maybe corn. 

Ds and I started packing dd’s kitchen items. My cabinets look pretty bare! Not necessarily a bad thing 😊. Her boyfriend hired movers for December 27 but dd has no time off so we’re lending a hand 😊

Yesterday my best friend and I did our annual Christmas shopping trip. It’s an all day event and we managed to complete her list and made a stop at Costco as well. I don’t have much shopping left to do just a couple little things for my sons but I don’t have a clue what to buy.

Today DH and I were going on a short road trip but he woke up with a sore back. He rolled over in bed last night and pulled a muscle. (He’s always had back issues so this is normal). He doesn’t think he can sit in the truck very long so that cancels our road trip for today. So instead I’ll do laundry!! “Some fun, huh Bambi!”

I bought a chicken pot pie at Costco so DH will eat that for supper. I’ll rummage in the freezer and find something for myself.

Good evening all.
Today was my ‘lazy day’ for the week. My cleaner messaged last night to switch my time from 9am to midday, due to a family emergency, which was fine with me. Just after that, I got a call from a wine company DH had ordered from, saying they could deliver our order just after midday, so it all actually worked out nicely time wise.
Both arrived at almost the same time, so I was up and down the stairs between the front door and the cellar for a bit, getting it all organised. Just a small vent: this wine delivery person has brought our orders a few time now, both to our old place and now twice here, and each time he has grumbled about me wanting him to put the order in our cellar. We have an elevator, and it’s then just in the cellar door, no further than bringing them into the apartment beyond leaving them in the doorway.
On a happy note, DS sent me some photos from Sophia’s kinder graduation. I can’t believe the sweet baby who made me an Oma is ready to go to school already.



I have also done some more Christmas baking, making my first test batch of mince pies


Dinner tonight will be in keeping with the day, simple and quick. We will have spaghetti bolognaise with garlic bread.

Happy Thursday! Mainly working around the house today, but will run out in a bit to have a quick manicure. Housekeeper came this morning instead of afternoon as we need to get ready for the evening when she is normally here.  Dinner will be at DH's company party tonight.  Hopefully they have some tables set up so we can sit and eat.  I really hate trying to balance a plate, eat and chat with people at the same time.  

sueg - I can't believe how big Sophia has gotten. What a beautiful smile she has!

HA!  DD's list just seems to get more expensive each year!  At least she isn't asking for horses and gear any longer.  

I have to think of something for dinner, but I just don't feel like anything!  We have the same ole same ole.
I would like a charcuterie board, but SO would not go for that.  It's not a meal...

You guys....I have the best news......I'M GOING TO BE A GRANDMA!  My son and his wife are expecting early June!!!

I really need to get going on Christmas. I haven’t even done cards yet.
leannec I know what you mean about adult girl stuff being expensive. I enjoy finding them stuff. This year in their stocking I’m giving them a lot of new to us makeup travel sizes to try out.

Dinner is with my bffs for our Ina Garten Christmas get together. You’re also supposed to bring your favorite kitchen item to do a yankee with. I wanted to get herb shears. Sold out everywhere except way on the other side of town. Instead I did a bag of things I use a lot. Lemon juicer, lemon, maldon salt, balsamic vinegar, basil plant and a baguette.
I made an arugula watermelon salad with pears & pomegranate instead because the watermelon looked terrible at the grocery.

bklyngal62 Hugs to You! I am so sorry for your the loss of your son and how hard of a day it is for you. Praying that the decorating will continue to bring you warm and loving thoughts of him. Haircuts always ma me feel better.

leannec I am so glad that your pension will be so good. I hope that you get many substitute positions and when you are able to collect your government money; you will be able to enjoy your retirement without worrying about money.

jeremysgirl I hope your mom’s dinner is delicious. I can’t believe how people feel so entitled that they don’t care about watching out for others. I am glad that you are okay.

@tearsici Hugs. I understand how your poor mom having Covid and along with both of your parents falling a lot; your anxiety would go into overdrive. It’s so much for you to think about and worry about what is going to happen.

sueg Sophia is absolutely beautiful. Your pies look delicious. Is there anyway that you could call the delivery guy’s boss and explain what he is doing and what you would like him to do for you.

The Birdhouse Lady Congratulations on the upcoming new grandbaby.

teddyw I am in the same boat as you are with Christmas. We just got our cards yesterday and my DH told me that I need to start stuffing the envelopes.

Today we got about an inch of snow. It was so nice to watch it float to the ground. YDS is now finished with finals and is home until January. I ended up going to bed around midnight and waking up at 4 am, needing to use the bathroom. And I couldn’t fall back asleep. So it’s been a slow day for me. Dinner tonight is fend for yourself. I am having leftover spaghetti and a salad. YDS made himself a flat iron steak. I don’t know what DH is thinking of making himself.

Hi everyone! Today poured all morning long and is very nice outside now. It is drying up and the sky is breaking up the cloud and we might get some sun. I know I like winter but this year is wonderful so far!

Dinner tonight could be anything. I walked by MnM and didn’t see anything I wanted. I need to talk to DDIL about what to get or take out.

Tonight is a celebratory night in DDIL’s culture so we are lighting tea light candles and are saying thanks for a good year and hopes for a new year.

We are having Chinese food for dinner.
