After 16 1/2 years of love & loyal companionship we have to let our pup go. He’s having cognitive issues and I don’t want him to suffer.
We are having someone come to the house so he doesn’t have to go in the car which he hates. I feel awful. I feel like I’m betraying him.

Aw it is so very hard when the time comes. You are being the best pet parent to him, ending his suffering and letting him go peacefully with you there to love him more.

I’m so sorry. 😞 It’s always the worst part of loving a pet. Please don’t beat yourself up, you’ve done your best and your pup knows you love him. I have always heard that it’s better to let them go one day too soon than one day too late. Hugs, it’s super hard.

I’m very sorry. We let ours go two weeks ago today. It’s very strange and we miss her, but we know it was the kindest thing for her. And it’s the kindest thing for your pup, too. Be gentle with yourself.

Sixteen years is a wonderfully long life, and I bet you made him happy just about every day of it. I’m so sorry you have to let him go. It’s three years tomorrow since I lost my boy, and I still miss him so much. But the memories of him make me laugh as well as cry, and they always will. Dogs are an amazing gift. 🥰

HUGS. I'm so sorry. It's so difficult!
My SIL's dog died yesterday. He made an appointment to have her put down tomorrow, as he knew she was starting to suffer. He came home and she was already gone. He was devastated. I honestly think she waited until he left, then laid down in her favorite spot in the sunshine on the porch, and went to sleep.

My sister also has them come out, she has Rottweilers so it makes sense, she says they do a very good job and it is less stressful on you pet.

The herdest part of having a pup is the good-bye. How kind of you to make it as comfortable as you can for your pup. You shouldn't feel guilty. You are doing him a kindness based out of love.
