How is it that trump is allowed to stand and pontificate outside the courtroom, saying how corrupt/conflicted the judge is, how this is all a witch-hunt etc? It all seems contrary to normal trials - but presumably this is different for some reason.

Our First Amendment includes the right to free speech, and anybody could do that. Most people aren't stupid enough to speak badly of the judge who will decide his fate, but, there you have it. |

Thank you, I knew about the feee speech in principle but it didn’t occur to me it would apply to a defendant during a court case! The smart ones listen to their lawyers and keep their mouths shut about their cases in public. |

Trump's gag order does not preclude him from badgering the judges in any of his cases, so that's why he's going after the judge and not others, except E. Jean Carroll, who may seek another defamation charge against him.

personally I think and hope it is not a verdict, far too soon...
