This past week I've made some progress. It started with changing out the bed linens to summer, which led to me going through the linen cabinet. Found a twin dust ruffle, pillow protectors and pillow cases to donate. I needed to run to the storage unit Monday so I went through all the slipcovers for our sofa and a chair/ottoman. Put them all in the fabric zip bags they came in and loaded them in the car. Also loaded all the leftover wallpaper from our remodel (4 rooms worth), a vintage luggage rack that is in the way currently, and the 3 valances from the dining room. Those will be reused in the guest room after it is painted/redecorated. Once I got to the storage unit I ended up spending nearly 2 hours doing some rearranging/consolidating and purging in there. Found spaces for all the stuff I took over, but came home with a car full! My summer project is working through all the photos/photo albums, memorabilia and scrapbooks, so I brought back all the boxes and bags of anything related to that project. Also found 3 pillows that I am going to try washing (2 are down) and if they don't come clean they will be tossed. A 5 yard piece of decorator fabric came back and will be taken the quilt guild garage sale this Sat. I even brought back 2 empty underbed boxes and 1 bin with a broken lid. Will be tossing that and donating the others. Best part is that there is now a bit of extra room in the unit! I also took photos of some dresses and shirts and sent my sister and niece. They took 2 dresses and 3 blouses, which I promptly boxed up and mailed Monday. The remaining blouse was added to the donation bag. I think I am pretty much done with getting rid of all the too large clothing now! The rest of this week I'll be going through my fabric shelves and adding to the garage sale box. Came home to find dh had gone through his closet and gotten rid of about 15 items. Eventually (in most cases) our decluttering does rub off on family members and they start to go through their belongings! A few weeks ago DH got some new sneakers and automatically put the old ones in the donation box. He proudly announced that fact to me as well! Here's your gold star buddy!

I changed out most of my shoes (probably should have gotten rid of some of the winter ones that I donāt wear often but didnāt really have the bandwidth for that today) and took a bin of sweaters to the crawl space as well. Itās not warm enough to switch everything out but I made some progress. I also will be leaving soon and will put the returns in the car.

I spent this morning at the women's emergency shelter starting to sort through their donation/storage room. Two solid hours of sorting and folding kids pjs and putting into labelled bins! I'm a thrower and organizer by nature, so this volunteer job is a good one for me--I think it's fun to organize a closet, and have been known to purposefully let one in my house accumulate stuff just so I can clean it--now I can keep my house the way I like it and use up all my organizing energy for a good cause! (And live for the days that my kids let me help them clean their rooms, lol!)

brag..my husband fits his tux that was custom made for him in hong kong.. 1986. in fact, we should take it in for tailoring.. as it is too big. most the suits I got rid of were the custom ones from those years.
joys of retirement..no more suits.

Well, I've got another thing to get rid of. I have a pink cardigan with a scallop trim that used to fit 5 years ago - it finally fits again and I put it on to wear today. Not until I went into the restroom at TJ Maxx did I realize that the right sleeve was sun faded. I had a bunch of clothes that didn't fit that I had on a hanging clothes rack, and I didn't realize how much the sun hit that rack. š

Iām sorry for your bad fortune mich5481 and alsomsknit! Finished going through my hair/body and masks bins from the linen closet. Turns out a lot of the products are ones I still really want to try so I didnāt fill the trash bin as much as yesterday. But I did take my shampoo, conditioner, and hair masks out of the shower and placed a bin with the samples and minis I want to try so I have no choice but to start going through them. Plus I added a shower gel, but didnāt replace ours because I donāt think DH will want to smell like Bum Bum Cream I also used the 2 clear bins I freed up in my decluttering yesterday to replace the old fabric-lined wicker baskets I donāt like in the linen closet and am donating the baskets. Fabric baskets arenāt great for potentially messy products. I also like the additional room in these bins and that I can see through them. Iāll continue swapping out old wicker for new clear plastic as I free up the bins Iām using for my sample experiments. And I have enough masks that I added dividers to the bin so itās easier to find the type Iām looking for.

my label tape and power adapter arrived today so now I can label all the things.
One of the first big tasks is to label the circuit breakers - it IS labelled but when we had the electrician turn it 180 degrees so it faced the hallway instead of inside my closet - the labels are now reversed. DH and I will hopefully tackle that this weekend.

I have a 5' shelf above my washer and dryer. I took down the cheap plastic baskets and replaced them with pretty woven baskets with liners. I tossed a ton of crap that had accumulated. I relocated the extra rags to my storage closet.
I love when things look organized AND pretty!

As a long time owner of herding dogs (Belgian Sheepdogs), buckle up! They don't calm down until about 5-7 years. They are super smart and can outthink you all day long! They need exercise, exercise and lots of it. Agility is good for them. You can buy sets for at home practice if you have a backyard. Try to find those puzzle games for them to figure out. Would love to see a photo of the beast. PostImages is the method many of us use, as well as the Tapatalk app. If that fails, feel free to pm me a photo and I'll post it for you!

Daily declutter task from My Simpler Life Declutter Calendar:
Give away travel toiletries you havenāt used.
I think Iāll go through my whole travel section again. Did a bit of a haphazard job in the last month or so. But Iām also getting ready for a 2 week trip this summer so this is the perfect time to make hard decisions. If Iām not using it for this trip will I ever? Especially since itās a road trip and we are not paring down what we take at all. Then after the trip we can see what we did and didnāt use and what was and wasnāt helpful for such a long stay, we havenāt had one since 2019. Then get rid of anything that doesnāt make the final cut.

This week I tossed a grocery cart that broke after two decades of heavy use. I put it out night before trash day and a metal scrapper took it within an hour.
I tossed a ripped fitted sheet.
Tossed three children's winter coats that had each been through 2+ kids, and couldn't be donated. Too many worn spots and seam fixes already.
I have a huge bag of school uniform pieces waiting to be donated to the PTA (they put out notices for when they want them before the used uniform sale, but don't take them year round). My kid went through a growth spurt mid year, and went up a full size quickly.

I'm continuing to pull things from my scrapbooking stash that I know I won't use - not a purposeful destash just being aware as I flip through stuff that while I will use most of the SG 2023 graduation papers/cut aparts I bought, I won't use anything that specifically says 2023 so those are added to the donate pile or as I flip through my religion themed embellishments that I've scrapped all three baptisms so don't need to hold on to baptism themed items..
I labelled all the power cords under my desk at the plug end - and my colour embellishment containers. I'll continue to label things around the house this week.

The Beast destroyed the rug in his pen. DH was not paying attention to puppy and then is shocked he has gotten into mischief.
Found a replacement bowl on Marketplace. First experience. It was a door pick up not too far out of the way to visit my piercer. So, four bowls added to the household. The entire stacked set. Red, not blue. It looks as if the smaller three were never used and the big one was rarely used. Score! They were only slightly more for the four of them than the price of just the large one on eBay.
One helix piercing removed. The other was changed to a hoop. If this one settles itself with the hoop, I will try again later. My hair catches on the back of the lowest helix. Took losing 2 to figure that out.
DH broke one of my Fiesta bowls. All my colors are discontinued. I found a replacement. He isnāt going to be happy to know how much it cost. Learn to pay attention and be careful, my dude.
Not a declutter: I am getting to use the scrapbooking tools in creating my Bullet Journal pages. Not a Ryder purist. Just what works for my needs.
Photo of the Beast coming soon.

Finally got my tables moved back into place in my studio after having to get them out of the way for the electrician a couple weeks ago. Now I can set my 5ā table back up at the end the way it was and try to figure out what to do with the massive stack of filled ArtBins that were stacked up everywhere around the tables. I need to go through them because each one has a mishmash of miscellaneous stuff that I brought home from my friendās momās house. All of it is useful, all really nice, just A LOT and none of it is organized in any way so I donāt even know what I have.
Since I replaced the sole, dim lightbulb in the utility room with one of the bulbs Dewryce recommended, I think Iāll leave the 6ā table set up in there to sort through some of those bins this week since it looks like my calendar is pretty clear for the most part (aside from the usual weekly household/office tasks). Even if nothing else gets done, at least the stuff in those containers can be reshuffled into categories, labeled and stacked up somewhere more accessible. The studio looks so much better without them piled up in there so for now theyāre not going back in. I have a ton of rubber stamps that Iām eventually going to part with and theyāre taking up a ton of useable shelf space in that utility room that I could use for these bins. Baby steps, LOL.

I ended up with just a single bin of things for the quilt guild garage sale. Since I ran out of time to sort and price it my solution was to set it all on the table and give it away! Most of it was claimed and what few things didn't (mostly patterns) were added to the donation bag as soon as I got home - including the bin since the top was broken a while back and tossed. While my goal was to come home with nothing new, that didn't happen. New to my stash are two pieces of Holland Wax cloth (African wax) totaling 2.5 yds for just $5. Also bought a pretty 3.5 yd piece of Liberty quilting cotton for just $15 (would have been $50+ new)! It is enough for the backing on a small quilt. Put my sewing room back together yesterday and made a list of labels I need to make today. They are for bins and shelf edges. My shelves are almost 36" deep and things get forgotten in the back so labels on the shelf edge should help. Also started a spreadsheet with projects I have in mind, including the fabrics I plan to use for them. Hopefully this will help me work through the stash a little more efficiently. alsomsknit - Your pup is quite handsome!

Daily declutter task from My Simpler Life Declutter Calendar: Do some deep breathing. I bet we can all do this one today **GypsyGirl** Go you for donating it instead of saving it for the next sale! Can you tell you have more breathing room now? As I posted in the crafty declutter thread I was watching videos and got up at 3 am because they inspired me to do a deeper declutter of my stamps/dies/embossing folders. She mentioned the mindset shift of deciding what you are going to keep rather than what you are going to declutter and as Iāve said before this way of looking at things really shifts my perspective and motivates me to select my favorites to keep and think long and hard about everything else. So I took each section out one at a time and only put the ones back in the bin that I love and am excited to use. The others are all going into my time will tell box. Iād say about 1/3rd of the bin is leaving. The time will tell bin is only a file size box but is quite full of crafty things, mostly small, so I decided to give myself until the end of the year to try and use everything. I wish they could go straight to the donate bin but I think Iāll have regrets if I do.

watched some more of the papercraft organising videos yesterday.
Today I'm going through my cardstock and PP - sheets as well as scraps. I'm tossing scraps with abandon and I'm actually pulling quite a few papers to donate. So far I've made it through blues and greens - my two biggest areas - and yellows. Going to keep working on that.
Picked up a container for my sequins and sorted those last night. One pack was a mixed pet shapes and I only have cats so I pulled out the dogbones and dogfaces and put them up as a RAK - they've been claimed.
In non-scrapbooking news - I labelled ALL of the 9x14 (ish) plastic boxes with genealogy and family memorabilia so it'll be easy to tell what step I'm on (are they labelled? sorted?)
Drainfield should FINALLY be installed tomorrow so Wednesday I'm hopefully starting a deep cleaning of the whole house and I'll be decluttering as I go - if I'm going to empty shelves/drawers/cabinets to dust and/or clean, I might as well go through the contents before I return it.
Wednesday is also 10-cent day at the library booksale - I told DH I was okay skipping it this year. However if he ends up going, you know I'm going to end up tagging along, lol. I do NOT need more books. I need to read and pass along more of the books I already have.
