watched some more of the papercraft organising videos yesterday. Today I'm going through my cardstock and PP - sheets as well as scraps. I'm tossing scraps with abandon and I'm actually pulling quite a few papers to donate. So far I've made it through blues and greens - my two biggest areas - and yellows. Going to keep working on that. Picked up a container for my sequins and sorted those last night. One pack was a mixed pet shapes and I only have cats so I pulled out the dogbones and dogfaces and put them up as a RAK - they've been claimed. In non-scrapbooking news - I labelled ALL of the 9x14 (ish) plastic boxes with genealogy and family memorabilia so it'll be easy to tell what step I'm on (are they labelled? sorted?) Drainfield should FINALLY be installed tomorrow so Wednesday I'm hopefully starting a deep cleaning of the whole house and I'll be decluttering as I go - if I'm going to empty shelves/drawers/cabinets to dust and/or clean, I might as well go through the contents before I return it. Wednesday is also 10-cent day at the library booksale - I told DH I was okay skipping it this year. However if he ends up going, you know I'm going to end up tagging along, lol. I do NOT need more books. I need to read and pass along more of the books I already have. I’ve done that a few times and gave huge boxes of really nice, usable scraps and other papers I didn’t need to the elementary school art and preschool teachers. They were so happy to get it too. So often it doesn’t matter that it’s not full sheets because the kids are just going to cut it all up anyway, and the teachers usually have to buy those kinds of supplies with their own money so it’s a win/win. With it being so close to the end of the school year, I’d check with the early childhood education or the public library to see if they want it for their summer programming.

Thanks crazy4scraps - I have two stuffed 2-gallon bags of papers and I'll check with my elementary teacher friend to see if she can use them. The scraps I tossed are all small - for the most part I held on to usable sized ones. BUT my paper cubes are nice and neat and organised now and less stuffed!

HHG plan Last week of this round! We'll take a few weeks break then be back in May to start Round 2. Take this week to budget for the things you noted you needed to have done: new wallpaper, carpet re-stretching. What about the outside?? It is a good time to really clean well the patio furniture and to sweep off the patio and trim the plants. Any weeding needing to be done? Section off the outside yard just as you would do the inside of the house and get to it. You can enjoy your home inside and out! ) Learn to delegate! Talk with your family and tell them how hard you have worked. (So what if they really do not understand.) Tell them how you need to have their help. Be specific! Delegate specific chores and write them down on cards . No Nintendo, TV, or playing with friends till that is done. No Ifs ands or buts about it!

I have a plan when my son is in town, to get him to help move a bunk bed set from three floors up to the basement. then I can buy dd a new small twin bed. and get rid of the other twin bed from the spare room. I got dh to fix the door hinge, so the door will close on that room. then when my daughter and her wife visit.. we can use the blow up queen bed in there. so hope some big progress this summer. it takes. me forever but I do get to it.

Daily declutter task from My Simpler Life Declutter Calendar: Sort through one paper pile. Now this is a task I will always need to do. and this is one area that I have under control. (dh not so much but that's a him problem not a me problem) Drainfield is fixed...had to call the electric company out because they discovered live wires where there shouldn't have been any. Turns out when the electric company re-ran our wires from the meter to the transformer a couple of years ago, they never turned the power off to the original wires. That was a surprise the equipment operator could have done without I think. Thankfully no one was hurt and the wires are now disconnected. Dishes are caught up, Mount laundry is slowly being tackled. I've deep cleaned one bathroom and all but the shower tiles in a second. Tossed a few bits and bobs from the bathroom cabinets/drawers but overall, they are pretty good. I suspect I'll be spending the next week deepcleaning (and decluttering as I go) the entire house, one room at a time. Last night I organised and labelled my wafer thin dies - no decluttering but hopefully I can get more use out of them going forward. If not, then I'll revisit decluttering in the next round

linda That is so scary, I’m glad no one was hurt! I haven’t done much decluttering these past couple of days because I’ve been playing in my newly purged and reorganized craft room! I’m making cards and trying a new to me tool with stencils. As I go I’m being super aware how of my process works in the space and changing anything that irks me pretty much then and there. So, I’m reorganizing but not actively decluttering much. So today I will work on some paper.

dewryce - yes - very scary and I'm grateful they were all okay. County inspector told us that he was out at another site with a different septic tank company and they hit a gas line and had flames shooting up in the air. Around here the natural gas is a city utlity (even in the county) and apparently even the city had no record of a gas line there. Crazy - and scary. Good job with the craft room - and a good plan to change what doesn't work.

I haven't been on this thread in a while - I really need to open it more often for inspiration.
Little wins - purged some old vitamins and OTCs that were long past expired and dropped off a couple of old prescriptions at CVS that we no longer needed.
Went through some shoes in my closet and added some to the donate pile
Returned some shoes that I thought I liked in the store but when I tried on a home really didn't like - I had grabbed three pairs of the slides at Costco and I returned them today.
Spent a little bit of time cleaning off my scrapping desk - finished a few cards as planned then came across a really old - more than ten years - card kit that I had already cut the pieces for so I put them together and just need to stamp a few things - and they will be done. I think they will work for the card swaps on here so really a good thing - 15 cards almost ready. My desk looks better than it has in a while but as soon as I start another project or two I am sure it will be a mess again. I really need to work in my office (different room) and get that desk and table cleaned off. I took some paper and supplies to a crop last month but need to do so more regularly. Our group has grown so maybe the new women would be interested.
Stopped myself from adding a few things onto my FabFitFun box that I really liked but didn't need and would have likely just become clutter. I really need to get better at this. I did keep some items but they are mostly consumables and will get used up.
Very slow progress but at least I feel like some progress has been made.

Well I haven’t made it down to my studio to do much of anything in there yet. But I tackled a totally different project that I didn’t plan on doing, so I guess that’s kind of a win? When I was at Business Costco yesterday they had some 14” plain pizza boxes on closeout (look for the * in the corner on the tag, that tells you the item is going away) in a pack of 50 for $9.97. Originally bought them thinking I could use them for 12” cookie trays at Christmas, but when I was driving home it occurred to me that they might fit in the cabinet where I store most of my cookie cutters. Currently I had them in flat open top trays that are kind of a hassle, plus they’re open to dust, etc.
The good news? The boxes fit two stacks to a shelf in the cabinet, yeah! The bad news is that they’re about 1/2” taller than the trays I had been using so I could only fit about 3/4 of what had been in that cabinet back in that cabinet. 🤦🏻♀️ BUT the boxes now have lids which I wanted, and it’s easier to pull out a box from the middle of the stack than it was to pull out one of the trays from the middle. So now I need to rearrange some other things in the other cabinets, but that’s not the end of the world. Just not what I originally planned to do this week.

I really liked that cooler bag, but since the one I got from All True/Causebox a few years ago still looks decent, I'm staying away from FFF. It wasn't so much the box that got me into trouble, it was the add ons and sales! 🤣

They would actually be great for that too since they’re 14” square so they would even fit papers with the extra tab on one end, or sticker sheets that are longer than 12”. Or rubber stamps. They only had them at the business Costco though, they’re not stocked at the regular stores. Now that I moved all of my *organized* cutters into boxes, I’ve burned through at least 3/4 of the pack and I still have a tub of random cutters that hadn’t been assigned a spot yet. If I put those in the boxes too (which I still need to do) I’ll have to go back to that Costco on the other side of town to buy another pack before they’re gone so I’ll have some on hand for the purpose I actually bought them for. 🤦🏻♀️

Monday, tossed a pair of sandals.
Tuesday was a kitchen day. Tossed expired herbs and spices. The Beast was a Good Boy for me. Saved the crazy for DH & J.
We have a new UPS guy. Wasn’t the least bit afraid of The Beast. He has a 9 yr old Black Lab at home and understands the crazy. 😂

I toted a 35 pound of dog food upstairs and realized that I've lost more than 2.5 times as much weight over the past year. As a reward, I've put my nice Columbia winter jacket in the donate pile, as the Michael Kors one I used this past winter is slightly smaller than it (and even it is too big). 🤞 when winter hits, I'll need to go out and buy an even smaller jacket to wear.
I have a few other clothes to add to the donate pile, and I even have an Office themed coffee mug I plan to get rid of. Small progress is still progress.

Daily declutter task from My Simpler Life Declutter Calendar:
Declutter one laundry room shelf.
We did this when we fixed the shelf a couple of weeks ago, so there is nothing to declutter, but they could stand to be straightened. One of the things we decluttered? Well, four things. Socks! There was nothing to go in the laundry and I had DH check beside and behind the w/d to make sure they weren’t there and said goodbye to our four orphaned socks! Alas, he has already added one to the small bin. HOW? And they’re expensive socks! A couple of years ago I found some boat black ankle socks and bought a lot of them. I rarely wear others (these look best with my dark tennis shoes) so if a sock is orphaned it won’t be for long.

For some reason, DH has this habit of filling those big totes...the 30 quart ones...and not putting the lids on. I finally had enough and threw 2 of them in the recycler along with a bunch of lids. I have a bunch more empty ones in the basement and if they don't have lids, they're going bye-bye too. It's very liberating!
I've also thrown out a bunch of partially completed projects. I read that on a blog somewhere. Get rid of what you haven't completed as it ends up being a source of stress, which is completely true.
Let's see what else I can get rid of this weekend.

mich5481 - that's an awesome weight loss. Well done donating the too-big jackets - you deserve clothes that fit correctly dewryce - no laundry shelf here but I did declutter and organise the cabinets in the laundry hall the other day. I do have a small pile of single socks but I'm waiting until I finish the laundry mountain before discarding any as I suspect some will get paired up. cat2007 - well done on discarding the UFOs - always tough

stuff was thrown away.. some stuff shifted to the basement.. more digging to do.
made some real progress.. more to go, stuff recycled, thrown away.. pile for goodwill..

I deepcleaned the breakfast nook and found three more cookbooks to donate. I'm making progress on Mount Laundry...I should be caught up sometime tomorrow. And I just tried on my one and only swimsuit - it'll go in donations once it takes a try through the laundry as it's too big. Which is good news overall BUT I was hoping to swim on Saturday...I don't often get an opportunity...in fact I haven't gone swimming in 5 years. I was NOT impressed by the tankini tops at my local Walmart...open lacing on the front? I don't have that kind of body confidence, lol, and there aren't many other local options. So I'm probably not swimming this weekend I swear that single socks are the bane of everyone's existence! Where do their mates go? Does the washer eat them? Is the dryer the culprit? I think that will be an unanswered question until the end of time. definitely

Donated a box of items to the Women in Need society today. I like it when we can string our errands together. We ordered something from Lee Valley tools (they need two hours to process it). When we arrived we call and they bring it out the back door to the car, Works better than shopping and waiting in line in the store.

I wash ours in those mesh laundry bags and haven’t had a single lost sock since doing it that way. Plus I can bag up everyone’s socks individually so it takes less time to match them up. And speaking of matching, even though I have been buying the exact same brand and style of socks for a few years I hate trying to match them up because I won’t put a dingy old gray one with a newer white one. I always wear either shoes or lined Crocs all the time so I don’t understand how they get so stained on the bottoms. I started marking the new socks into pairs with tiny embroidered hearts in different colors of thread on the back of the ankle. It took me about ten minutes to mark six pairs and now they’re so much easier to match up.

It was really cute and nice but I already have coolers to use for shopping snd I don’t need a fancier one. I did like that it had a longer strap but I dropped it when I decided no more clutter. If I hadn’t bought some pink cooler bags from Trader Joe’s I would have added it. My cooler bags are still in really good shape. That reminds me I need to go through my shopping bags in the car. I bought some at Aldi to replace a few that were starting to fall apart but I don’t think I tossed the old ones.
