Today I cleared the bookshelf that held last school year's book report books.
I put the books downstairs, sorted and labelled by grade that they are for, and dusted the shelf.
Now I just need to confirm next year's book report books before ordering them.

Found some more video games that will get $40 to $60 each on eBay. Just need to list them now. That's a good deal!
There was a time when the only income I had was buying cheaply from yard sales, and thrift stores, and selling them online.
Getting a whole unit for $1.21 has a ton of room to be profitable. Great to hear about the games.
He also had to leave a $100 deposit but got it back once he provided photos he got everything out. He has had to do that with everyone. So far, he's gotten every deposit back.

I cleaned out 3 trash bags full of duplicate photos, negatives, and boxes. Whoo! My kids will never use the negatives. They will probably only keep a fraction of the photos when I am gone.
Also, a funny for you! I've mentioned my 87 year old mother can't throw anything away. Well, yesterday I was at the care facility and she handed me a bag with a plunger in it! She said I bought it for her, but it doesn't work with her toilet, so she washed it and returned it to me!!! Yeah, that went in the trash at the care facility.

We bought a small bench from someone in Facebook Marketplace for in our back yard. The lady also gave us a box of books. We kept a few children books and took the rest to a couple of free libraries in people’s front yards.

cleaned nearly 3 GB off my computer - digital decluttering is a thing too Yes it is! I am trying to do it as I go lately, but typically it is a winter job for me (end of year, slow time of year).

Yes it is! I am trying to do it as I go lately, but typically it is a winter job for me (end of year, slow time of year). summer tends to be a slower time for me - it's too hot to do outdoor stuff (I'm heat sensitive) and with school out, life just moves at a slower pace here. So my current projects are continuing to clean up my hard drive, continue labelling photos (digital and print), continue transcribing mum's travel journals, and continue writing up ancestral couples for the family history album. I do need to deep dive into my sewing stash/notions/patterns etc...and downsize. I don't sew nearly as much anymore and what I sew has changed.

well done ntsf(cross-posting from the crafty organising thread on the scrappy side) I just tackled my papercrafting inspiration... It now all fits in ONE small cube instead one small cube plus overflow. I re-sorted my scrapbook sketches into one-page and two-page and tossed a BUNCH along the way. Found 4 books I can donate Sorted my card sketches into keepers and not keepers. I did keep the sheetload sketches separate for now - I'll revist that later next up my digital inspiration folder...that's going to be a project but since I rarely actually look at it, I think I need to be pretty ruthless

I'm off to an out of town wedding this weekend and then on to my parents house for next week. They are moving into a seniors' building in the city my sister lives in, so they've just sold their house and the move date is July 15th. My sister and I are going to go do the sort and pack thing, or at least the "here's what we're keeping" round. We've hired a company to come in and do an estate sale type thing, but the bonus is that everything that they don't sell the company will take care of donating or disposing of--well worth the money, imo!! That way my 80yo parents just have to decide what they want and not what to do with the rest.
Yesterday at the women's shelter, we were at the sort and purge point that we got to put pretty new labels on the bins--yay us! Next stop (after my fellow volunteer and I take a week or two off for summer trips) is the toiletries donation room ... it's not as overwhelming as the clothes room was when we started, but there are multiple boxes of mini toothpaste, hair products, etc piled up in the middle of the room making it pretty tough to move around, so we'll have a couple weeks of work to do in there.
I got cranky trying to pull a tshirt out of my closet this morning, so that's a sure sign that a cull is needed--that's my first project when I get back home, I think!

bunnyhug - good luck helping your parents. The estate sale people were a godsend when we cleaned out my mum's house after she passed. Sounds like excellent progress at the women's centre! And I hear you on the t-shirts...my drawer needs a good cull as well. digital paper crafting folder significantly downsized lessons learnt - no more summits...I just DON'T follow through and DO the projects, I just download them. - print sketches, don't save them -print and colour? needs to be printed or I'll forget about them -all those cool printables? yeah, I don't use those and if I do want to, I look online not in my folder -why did I download so many digital scrapbook freebies? I don't scrap digitally

sketches I printed out are filed in my binders and I'm feeling accomplished. All that is left to deal with are some print and colour pages and printed sentiments that I need to cut and put away

I went through two large storage totes yesterday that were largely filled with beauty products. I pitched most of the stuff in there, as the products were expired.
I also filled up a large paper bag with more expired pantry items, including a jar of salsa that was dated 2019!
I've started going through another large storage tote that is half full of old paperwork from high school. It is a slog, but I did get rid of a bunch of old student newspapers/magazines!

Today I'm tackling a closet upstairs that is full of thing we don't need and probably haven't seen in several years! Gathering for our daughters to call dibs on first - otherwise donating!
Our kitchen is gutted (has been since April) so I have my kitchen stuff EVERYWHERE! We hope to have this project complete by the middle of August fingers crossed!

15 boxes, 3 paintings, and a kid’s easel made it to the rummage sale. My van was packed full. Love that all the money they make at the sale and the leftover items go to organizations in the community.
Started cleaning my scrap room again yesterday. Unfortunately it’s a dumping ground for all the things. Why must there be so much paper! (and not the scrapbooking kind, but that’s out of control too)

Took all of the expired beauty products and food to the dump today - finished cleaning out the pantry and fridge and added an additional 4 kitchen trash bags to the mix. Reorganized the pantry shelves while I was at it.
Went through some dog clothes and pitched a couple outfits and pulled out 5 or 6 to take to the Humane Society on Monday. They were Belle's clothes that won't fit any of our other dogs. Since we don't plan on getting another dog, it's best that we let these go. We may keep a couple outfits of hers, but these were less sentimental ones.
Also got my mom to agree to donate two sets of Christmas trees for outdoor walkways. Since the only outdoor outlet is on the upstairs back deck, there's no point in keeping them. I'll take those on Monday to the thrift store by the Humane Society - I know they accept Christmas stuff year round.

The hangers came days ago, but I haven't hung up the school clothes yet (They're clean, and set inside the closet.)
I have to sew a couple buttons onto uniform polos, probably will take ten minutes, so I'm sure I'll procrastinate two months until right before school starts.
I have a pair of cream dressy flats that I wore one time almost 4 years ago. Kinda hurt my feet. Why am I holding onto these? Will probably toss soon.

Grand Cleaning PLan This week we're in the Kids Room/Play area. If you don't have one focus on your home office/billpay area/paperwork. Kids’ Rooms:. Let’s get shelves done first (if appropriate). Use same method: examine, toss/save/donate, replace onto shelves. This is a good time to get rid of games with lots of missing pieces, or save for while you’re in the playroom in case the pieces are hidden there. Desk drawers: go through (or have your children if they’re older) and sort out what papers need to be saved and what can be tossed. Get rid of old magazines, old McDonald toys, toys in pieces, broken crayons, non-functional pens. make room for the stuff on top of the desk! Clothing Drawers and Closets: Again, check for current sizing. Too small? Donate to a friend’s kids, Goodwill, or homeless shelter. Torn? Can it be used for rags? Box up anything to be saved for a sibling. Label and the box and put it away now. Throw out anything not able to be repaired! Have your child try on questionable items. Before we go further. have you thought about taking curtains down, and washing? Better start now! Throw the bedspread & blanket in the wash too! Time to check under the bed for the nasties down there. This might be a good place for under-bed storage containers. Once everything is picked up off the floor, don’t forget the ceiling fans, and wash your ceiling fixtures. Now’s a good time for windows & blinds too! Don’t forget to dust, & polish any wooden furniture. If you have boxes stored in bedroom or closets make sure you have a good marker with you to mark the outside of boxes with contents. (You can do this but I find that giving the box a code number, letter or name and not marking the contents directly on the box but instead on an index card placed in your SHE box, you can at anytime change the contents of the box without writing and rewriting on the box what is inside. You can use the same methods for playrooms or play areas. Perhaps if you have a hobby room and no children, you can use this for your sewing or craft room. If you have none of the above, then take a relaxing bath. Then go over any areas that still need “doing”. holidaygrandplan.com/cleaning-grand-plan/

I just moved some gardening stuff from the house to the outside garden chest, and put a few containers in the recycling that I thought I was going to repurpose, but changed my mind about.
Took a look in the fridge, closed the door again. Why are there nine jelly/jam jars open? That's a lot of variety.
Also noticed that there are two parm shakers open in there. Why not check the fridge before you open the new one?
I'm going to toss the flats next time I go upstairs. The more I think about them, the more I realize that they're not worth thinking about.
When I get the motivation, I am going to reorganize all the school supplies amassed for the next school year. It is a culmination of almost a decade at a school that requires you to send in huge quantities of supplies, then at the end of the year, I face the frustration of dozens of supplies being sent back home, unused. Or barely used.
After summer, I am going to cull the majority of the summer clothes for myself and the two youngest. Some things are looking a little well loved.

Or barely used. Sounds like it's time for the parents to raise objections to this system (and waste). I had no issue with sending whatever supplies they requested, but for the love of all that is good, DO NOT send them back to me at the end of the year! Just keep them and use them when needed.

Looks like summer is a good time for decluttering looking at all the progress being made lately! Way to go everyone! I did manage to get one quilt labeled and mailed, along with a second quilt mailed with it. Made labels for 4 more quilts and they are ready to attach, while I still have another label cut out and ready to make/attach. Plan to finish those up this next week. Not too much decluttering going on here currently. Some may know from the dinner thread that DH's kidney cancer (last year) returned in his right humerus bone this spring. It was caught early and scans show no other cancer besides this spot. He's been undergoing treatment (chemo, radiation, immunotherapy) and doing very well (still working full time). Then a week after the second Keytruda treatment he began to react to it. He has been in hospital since Wed, but is responding very well. We are hopeful he'll be released in the next day or so. He's doing a lot of complaining and asking for double espressos when I go up daily so he's definitely feeling better! Anyway, he has complained for ages about how much junk email he gets and no matter what he does he can't get rid of them. I've been telling him I could do it for him. One symptom has been double vision so I've been reading his work emails/messages to him and checking the personal email for him as well. I could not believe the amount of cr@p email he was getting. So he told me to have it and get them stopped. The declutterer in me has had so much fun unsubscribing/blocking/deleting all that stuff! His daily inbox went from well over 50 each day to just 12 yesterday! Once we get him home I will get back to my ongoing projects at the house.
