Thanks infochick! That’s what I do too, but thought there might be some new way I wasn’t considering.

I HAVE FOUND MY PEOPLE!!!
I believe in all of us!
I am pleased to report I have already made some small progress! First I was pleasantly surprised to find that I wasn't as behind as I thought and that I had already done a lot of photo organizing. All my real life ephemera is already sorted by year/major events where applicable going back to 2016 but I'm still only focused on 2018 forward.
For 2018 I sorted all my photos into monthly folders and have started going through by month, making notes on the highlights and stories. I think I will just take that approach and make layouts based on the key stories/themes that stand out to me. Will do a mix of pocket and traditional pages. I think if I am really focused I could finish most of 2018 up over the upcoming long weekend even.
I'm getting excited!

What does everyone mean when they answer, scrapbook monthly? Is that one page per month and it’s a summary? For me, this translates to one double-sided pocket page, roughly divided by the dates (1-15 on the front, 16-31 on the back). I find that it holds smaller stories that don’t warrant a full page layout and stuff like what movies/music/tv we’re consuming or something pop culture related. It also doesn’t include anything that has its own layout, so I do not consider it a summary. I find pocket pages hard to work in. I can handle one per month but that is my limit!

Ryann - pocket pages are so hard for me too! I got back into PL in 2022 after a long hiatus, and only finished the album out of pure stubbornness. A whole year of pocket pages! And when I flipped through, nothing was secure and random cards/photos were falling out. So, I went back through and washi taped the loose items, vowed to only use pocket pages when necessary. Moved to full 12x12 PL spreads in 2023 and have really enjoyed the change! I started each month with 1 pocket page, kind of like a title page with small headlines or photos. Used 12x12 to tell all other monthly stories. This year, I’m doing away with the monthly title pages, but want to somehow mark each month. I can use side tabs that have Jan/Feb/etc but still thinking it through. Anyone use other options?

So it isn’t only me with several years on the go, thank you, thank you, thank you, for making me feel better about the whole thing.
I have done a hybrid PL as I just use a 12 x 12 sheet of cardstock to lay out my photos and cards. It really depends on what happened whether I do a double page spread for a week or two weeks or a month. I also do the occasional traditional layout page for a bigger story.
I am trying to be more strategic for 2024 but we’ll see how it goes.

What does everyone mean when they answer, scrapbook monthly? Is that one page per month and it’s a summary? I assumed that weekly means you do a double page spread for each week. Like you, I wasn't really sure what monthly meant. I didn't think it would be one page per month, because that would be a very small album! This year, I will be doing one big run-on album. One of the things that made my PL more time consuming, was doing a double page spread for every week, and then trying to stretch or fit one week's worth of photos onto two pages. So this year I am just going to put my photos onto the page as they are, so a double page thread might cover ten days, or it might only cover three days, depending on how many photos I take on any given day/week. I still want to show the transition from month to month, so I will be throwing in a journal card with the name of the month before the first photo of each month.

What does everyone mean when they answer, scrapbook monthly? Is that one page per month and it’s a summary? I do a double pocket page spread (sometimes more). As I stated up-thread, I'm a retired empty nester. Between my husband and I, we have four adult, married children and five grandchildren, so I include highlights of both our lives and theirs: our travels, date nights, hanging out with friends, as well as the kids' birthdays, sports, graduation/awards, etc. Enough to fill at least two pocket pages but not enough for weekly spreads.

I don't do PL although I love the concept. I stalk this thread. I think it would be really beautiful to have a full-page of acetate or vellum with the month on it. You could cut from a silhouette or use sticker letters or stamp. It wouldn't add a lot of bulk but could be lovely.

I use different sizes other than 12x12, so that works. I’ll have to play around with it, but I love the idea!

I happened to watch Kasha Gage's flip through of the second half of her 2023 PL. She was pretty blunt with her struggles with the project, PL has typically been her favorite. Without naming names she talked about lack of products to support her documenting PL and it was so much work to get products to work for her. She also mentioned "petty, unprofessional" behavior in the scrapbook community has really made it hard for her. She and Krystal are good friends, I wonder if Krystal felt the same (in addition to the new job). So super nosy me, is all curious about what the heck happened. I was wondering this too and resorted to googling to try and find out what happened 😂 Has anyone been able to glean any further information? I have to admit I'm kinda curious. If you know anything, please spill the tea!

Okay to start us all off... Will you be doing weekly? Monthly? Do you do a hybrid style where you scrapbook but via pockets with full page layouts too? What size will you be working in? So you subscribe to any kits? Any favorite companies? Do you do any hybrid pages where you use digital products? I do my project life monthly. I like to group like pictures with like as much as possible. I rarely do a full page layout. I'm still trying to finish up 2023 in 9x12, but despite having a separate OD and DD (I won't be including those in my book), it seems like my book is getting fuller than I expected. So I might transition back to 12x12. I'm doing Ali's kit this year. I have used Hip Kit, Elle's Studio, and Freckled Fawn in the past. I like a variety of companies but tend to use pretty much only what I've currently subscribed too. Although I do have a bit of a stash saved up. I really need to utilize it more. I don't do any hybrid scrapping. I don't even edit my photos much. I just want to get down to the business of scrapbooking. Thanks for starting us off, pantsonfire

What does everyone mean when they answer, scrapbook monthly? Is that one page per month and it’s a summary? I break my album down by month, but I do as many pages as I have pictures. Some months that might be 4 pages and some months, I've even gone so far as 9 pages. But I like to put like pictures with like pictures. For example, I have pictures of my grandson that go throughout the month. So I group all that month's pictures together and scrapbook one 2 page spread with his pictures.

If you know anything, please spill the tea! So I watched the 2023 flip thru, read comments on that post and then watched her new 2024 video. Sounds like she was frustrated in the same way most of us were with Ali’s PL products last year. She is using them in 2024 and commented on how she’s glad for the changes to SBTM. In the comments of the 2023 flip, she replied to a comment and subtly referenced experiencing ppl copying her photography/work, so I’m guessing the reference to petty behavior is likely people copying her work and not giving her any credit. She also talked about stepping away from posting her work, other than stories, so again, sounds like she got discouraged by people copying/taking her ideas without giving her credit. Could be more than that, but that is definitely part of it She really has gorgeous photography.

I finally watched her video and even though I don't like her products that much I do like watching her process videos so I will for sure be watching future PL videos. As for Kasha Gage, I wrote something yesterday but didn't think it sounded kind so I deleted it. She has every right to be upset if people are not crediting her if they copy her work but it happens so often in the scrapbook community, what did she expect? I guess I'm a bit jaded because I've been doing this hobby for 20+ years and feel like I've seen it all, nothing is new or innovative to me anymore. If you put your work out there, someone is going to copy it and they don't always credit where they got the inspiration from. When I post on Instagram or here, I try and include links to the people I was inspired by, but sometimes I forget. Anyway, off my soapbox and onto printing photos for the past 2 weeks!

You guys, I want to do this project so bad.
But I'm afraid with the house reno I won't have time.
And I just spend a whole 3-day weekend really wanting to do it but doing absolutely nothing.
I'm a person that needs to keep up with something or it just does not get done. I have so many UFOs around the house and I hate it.
But it would be fun to document this year while we're working on the new house and spending what is (I hope) the last year in this house.
Tell me for real like it is: If you are one to keep up with the project, how many hours are you spending on it per week?
I can make the space for supplies and to be organized. I print at home. I already have tons of 3X4 cards, supplies, etc. I don't think I would buy anything.
But I would want each month to have a title page that's similar so maybe I would need some sort of digitals to print. Or some ideas to stamp something.
Or I should just drop this and focus on all the stuff I actually need to do?
Be real. Help me with your honesty.

We did a major almost whole house reno in 2022 in November/December/January which included personally painting the whole house. I was physically exhausted and mentally drained amongst other things. Although most of my scrapping stuff was available, I just did not get near it for at least those three intense months. I took photos and journaled and that was it. Maybe instead of project life do a project house instead? That way you aren’t trying to include birthdays, coffee photos, holidays etc in the project and you are just celebrating your transition from one house to another? You could split it month by month or project by project or room by room and document the changes? And maybe do a tn or smaller size so there is less room for pretties and just room for a picture and journaling so it’s easier to stay on track?

Honestly, it is my favourite album ever, and I feel like you would have lots to document with your house reno. There would be lots of fun ephemera to include as well. I think it can take as much time as you want it to. For me, I have matted every single photo I put in. It would take way less time if I didn't do that. I think a big part of it is just being organized. If we see anything from this thread, it's that people fall behind. But, if you are organized and have some notes you can always print your photos and put them in pockets whenever. I did mine monthly and probably spent between 2-4 hours a month on it. More likely to the lower end. It doesn't have to be hugely time consuming. I think the biggest thing is to keep some notes so you remember what happened when. I am committed to using stash this year. My plan is to cut the months out on my silhouette in a script font and stick it to a 4x6 piece of paper. I'll do all the cutting at once and put them in an envelope so I just need to pull it when the time comes. I'm going to do them all in white or off white and just make it work with the supplies I choose for each month. I say go for it. The worst that can happen is you fall a bit behind.

blemon, I love project life and have a formula for it. I have been spending less than and hour on it. That included culling my photos and printing. I am also doing 2-4 minutes of journaling a day and have been journaling for my project life in my phone on Saturday and Sundays. My formula when I did 12x12 is one header/title card, 2 4x6 photos, 1 3x4 on the 4x6 card, 2 3x4 photos and one filler card and one journaling card. You can see the formula here http://instagram.com/p/C1KavLxO71o

We have been building that whole time and it’s been so fun to see the progress week to week- it seems like it goes so slowly but when we flip back through the album you can see it. My 2023 is done and I just finished 2o24 week 2 and have a start on week 3 - so I am definitely someone that keeps up with it! Lol. I do weekly so I can’t help you on a monthly transition page. I also can’t really help with time as I don’t really just sit down and do the whole page. My favorite part of scrapbooking is planning and looking through all my things so I purposely make it take a long time! That said, this year I switched to. 12x12 size and I’m doing one 12x12 page per week. Now that we are just about to move in I won’t have as many pictures and I just really want the year to fit In one album. I am doing flip ups and inserts as needed to add more content. I’d say if I added the time up, maybe 1.5 hours per page for a weekly spread- if I wasn’t doing all my “puttering.”

I'm soaking this all in.
Who are your favorite people to follow on instagram?
Love the idea to cut all the titles at once. I could prep stuff in advance like with dec daily, like go through all my cards and put them in a pocket by month (colors, themes, etc.).
Keep it coming.
These ideas are all good. A house book is intriguing, for sure.

So fun reading how everyone else approaches PL! I am not a devoted PL scrapper, but my PL are the only albums actually finished in more recent years. I am barely through a traditional 12x12 2023 album so I decided to go back to PL for this year while I continue working on my 2023 album.
I signed up for Jess Foresters class at SCT so I have all my first weeks of the months foundations done. I think for the class her intention is just one spread per month but I’ll have a page per week. I’m not sure how I’ll like having these pages already done for an ongoing project so I may end up using them for a school album I’m also working on from 22-23. I tend to put a pile of pictures in my albums as I’m realizing how quickly my kids grow up and how much I forget!
My goal this year is to journal/tell the stories better. In the past I was embarrassed to share for some reason and I regret not documenting more. I think PL helps me do that better than traditional pages since I can better dedicate space.
Does anyone have a good resource for prompts or journaling ideas?

I think if I am really focused I could finish most of 2018 up over the upcoming long weekend even. I don't know what kind of drugs I was on when I thought this, it was so not practical LOL! I have been surprised by how many pictures I took and how much I actually remember from the older album timeframes, leading to me having a lot more I can work on then I realized. But also I am just slow, and I was not in any way rushing. I did a combination of pocket pages with things like random-plate-of-food pic or screenshots of texts. A few single and double page 12x12 spreads when I had more to talk about, like how I sprained my ankle and was couch bound for a week or the birth of my niece. I knocked out a month and started working on the photo org and planning for the next one, this is the part that is very time consuming and draining for me, a lot of big things happened that year. I hope to start my 2024 album this weekend. I guess my plan is to bounce around working on current year, working forwards from my earlier albums, and maybe sprinkling 2023 in there somewhere as well? I don't want to wait too long to work on finishing that year off as it's at least still somewhat fresh. Thankfully in 2020 I started journaling short form most days/weeks so it should be a lot easier for me to remember what actually went on.

I might do the same with 2020 because that seems easiest to me. The rest of the years going forward I will continue on with weekly until I get to the "just finish it" point and make monthly spreads. I guess my goal has changed for the year, I want to finish 2 past PL albums. My kid is calling me out for not having any finished albums since 2018.

I'm hopelessly behind and I'm not concerned when I start 2024. I am one month short of finishing 2021. For 2022, I am using Life Captured from Simple Stories and mixing it with papers I already own. I bought a kit of this line at their warehouse sale. For 2023, I think I'll do the same, but pick a different collection. I don't feel like being creative, but I like to play with paper. If it's still enjoyable, I'll do the same for 2024.
Will you be doing weekly? Monthly? Monthly. I don't have a set number of pages I make. Some albums have 1-3 years.
Do you do a hybrid style where you scrapbook but via pockets with full page layouts too? I occasionally do a full page layout
What size will you be working in? 12x12
So you subscribe to any kits? No
Any favorite companies? No, but I'm using Simple Stories for 2022
Do you do any hybrid pages where you use digital products? I'm trying to make an effort to use my digital products I've purchased.

I have so many unfinished PL albums. I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I usually get to March or April and fizzle out. My plan is to work on 2024 and another year at the same time. I store ephemera in 8.5x11 pockets in the albums so that's all contained. My goal this year is to share more on Instagram.
Will you be doing weekly? Monthly? Monthly. It's typically 2-4 pages maybe with an insert.
Do you do a hybrid style where you scrapbook but via pockets with full page layouts too? I do all pocket pages. I haven't done a full page layout in ages.
What size will you be working in? 9x12
So you subscribe to any kits? Elle's Studio - it really fits my clean and colorful style. I love how well the kits mix and match too.
Any favorite companies? In a Creative Bubble, Paislee Press
Do you do any hybrid pages where you use digital products? I love printables and digital stamps and collage pages.

Will you be doing weekly? Monthly? I love weekly! I feel like there aren't too many of us out there, but I actually find it EASIER because there's less to work with each week so my brain can focus on a small amount of time.
Do you do a hybrid style where you scrapbook but via pockets with full page layouts too? I add smaller stories to the album, and sometimes those are "full page" 6x8 stories. I don't tend to do larger than that usually just because I don't make 12x12 regular pages, but if I made one for some reason I would totally add it. My PL albums are basically for everything that isn't specific to another category (like a wedding album, kids' school, etc.)
What size will you be working in? 12x12. Anything else is just too tiny for this phase of life for me.
So you subscribe to any kits? Tooooo many. AE kit, I subscribed to Paper Person before they closed, and I'm newly subscribed to Studio Calico, although I'm not pleased about the changes with the cut-aparts, so we'll see if I keep that kit or not.
Any favorite companies? See above!
Do you do any hybrid pages where you use digital products? Sometimes, but I usually stick to what's physically in front of me to keep it simple. I do like to play with digital products sometimes but those are usually for random insert stories, not the bulk of my standard PL pages.
Super excited for this year, y'all!! Can't wait to follow along with you guys!
