But it would be fun to document this year while we're working on the new house and spending what is (I hope) the last year in this house. Tell me for real like it is: If you are one to keep up with the project, how many hours are you spending on it per week? I love project life so much, you should do it! I do it weekly. We built a house in 2019-2020 and I included a progress photo every week in the top right corner of my weekly spread from the first one when I had the sold sign on the empty lot until the final one when I had the keys in front of the finished house. When they weren't working on the exterior I showed kitchen progress photos from drywall through completed. It's some of my favorite to look back on! For weekly spreads, I tend to work about 4-6 weeks behind, intentionally. I will sit down and print/edit photos about once per month for a few spreads at a time. Depending on how many spreads I do, it's probably 10 minutes per spread. Then I sit down and put the spreads together at a separate time when everything has already been printed. This could take anywhere from 20 minutes to over an hour depending on how detailed I get with my crafting. I also spend a lot of time photographing/filming/editing, but if you exclude that and focus on just putting it together I would guess that it's about 3-4 hours per month.

Decided on a 9x12 for my Project life this year. Excited for a new size. I will continue to work monthly vs weekly, it just works better for me. Once I use up all my SC kits I might switch to Alis SBTM, not thrilled with the vellum, but may it will work.

I love project life so much, you should do it! I do it weekly. That idea to spend one photo per week on the house is very good! You are partially to blame for my wanting to do this. Love your PL posts. I think if I do this I will be very formulaic, like for WITL. Plan it out. Have structure. Then break the rules or add inserts as necessary. I'm still on the fence.

I don't know if I'm fully committed but I do have a plan.
I'm going to start every month will a full page photo (I have 8.5X14 photo paper). I am going to use the silhouette to cut the months out so they will be vertical down the edge of the page.
I like the page protectors that Ali is using and I have some. I also have a 9X12 velvet album from sb.com that I've been saving for Disney that I will use until I get something else. I like the grey linen album Ali and SC have in stock. I'll wait for a sale of some sort.
I also like Ali's idea to keep ephemera and cut it up into squares and use as an insert. That's the stuff I love looking at in my DD and travel albums.
All of my travel supplies are away but if we go away for short trip, I can go through the papers and pull a few to use.
I think I'm going to try to stamp 3-letter months on 3X4 cards to use to start each month. I wish I could buy the digital of the Jan. stories by the month kit now. I would have started a sub if I had known I wanted to do this. I don't think those get put up for sale until months later. Like maybe only once or twice a year. Would love to have them now though.
I watched Linda's part one 2023 walkthrough and that's what sold me.
Now I will go back through some old ones and some of Ali's.
Any other Project Life instas or youtube channels that you like? I don't think I need a process video but would love to check out a couple of quick walkthroughs before I really dive in. I have time tonight to get started so I'm going to have fun playing and see where that takes me.
You bunch of dang enablers.

I haven't completed a Project Life album in a number of years. I decided after reading this thread and looking at AE's SBTM kit that I was going to go ahead and order the subscription. My question is, what are my chances of getting the January kit? I ordered today and it looks like I'll start with February. I've never done any of her subscriptions before.

If the January kit is not sold out, you should be able to buy it. If you contact their customer service, they might be able to help. I haven't done a subscription from AE for years so I can't remember.

I know it's a long shot but does anyone have this free download from 2013? I don't have that specific one but I do have calendar cards from 2013 from a different designer (I have no idea who made them). Let me know and I can send them to you. I'll keep looking on my old iMac in case I have these tucked in some corner of my hard drive.

I almost printed all of them then realized I might want different colors for different months. I appreciate the offer! I got the title page done. It took a long time. I have a lot of stuff but not the right stuff for this project, I think. I ended up cutting down two 12X12 sheets of paper to make 3X4 cards. I'm happy with what I made. I also sorted the photos from the month so far into weeks so I can batch print. We'll see how this goes!

@er_creates I love that, especially the way you used the 2 tags!
I haven’t started my 2024 yet, not even the title page, but I’m waiting for my Hip Kit to arrive. In the meantime I’m working on a few mini albums, or at least the covers. I saw a clear confetti cover that intrigued me, so I’m experimenting. Ashley Bright Crafts on YouTube, if you’re interested.

I’m loving this smaller format. It’s easy to put together. I love the two tags! I just took a photo of that to steal the idea. And how did you make the vellum pocket that you put the little journaling in? That's really cute. I think one thing holding me back is that I don't really care for my handwriting and it's a bit daunting to print directly onto tags. I want to buy some 3X4 and 4X6 templates that I can type journaling in, print out, then stick in there. Anybody have some they recommend? I looked through IACB and didn't see any I wanted. And I find the Lily Pad site hard to shop as the thumbnails are so small and so full of stuff that I can't tell what's actually for sale. I'm also seeing why kits are so popular. Everything matches and is of the right theme and you're done. I might start subbing to the digital stories by the month.

blemon, I used velum to make the pocket. I just eyeballed a piece of paper at least high enough with a little overlap. Then I trimmed the top side at an angle and folded it around the 3x4 card. If you look at my journaling it’s wonky. I use clear sticker paper normally and then place it centered. For this because I wanted white I printed on cardstock and it totally got messed up.

blemon, did you check paislee press. I didn’t buy journaling cards from her but I recently bought templates to add multiple pictures and they are great. I feel like she would have something. Sahin designs has a separate website too if that helps you scroll.

ecvnj58 - I love all your pages, this one is no exception. That vellum pocket is great, is it on the outside of the pocket or did you make a slit in the page protector? breakfastattiffanys - I'm going to check out the video on the shaker album. Looks very cute. Thanks!

I just made a 12x12 with a flip out that I am pretty sure will just never again get flipped 🤣 I’m just sticking it in a page protector. That one is here http://instagram.com/p/C2THJANvBRE

I sometimes cut the page protector but mostly I just leave it in the page and if someone really wants to look under the flip they can pull the page out. I do have those flip flap things from CTMH (and Simple Stories makes smaller ones too) but I always forget to use them.

I have already shared these layouts on the Q1 sharing thread, and I thought I'd put them here too. I am chuffed that I have actually finished two double page spreads, which is double what I did last year! As I mentioned on a previous post, I am doing a run-on album rather than trying to keep one week per spread. It will make it a lot easier for me, as I won't have to try to fit or stretch one week's photos onto two pages. It does, however, mean that I have to scrap the whole year in order. Once I get caught up to the current date, it should be easy to just do one photo per night. You never know, this might just be the year that I finally finish a whole album! This year I am using the Storyteller 2018 pocket pages, stacked pocket cards, papers, and elements, by Just Jaimee. I spent a lot of time choosing a font and a date stamp, and I'm still not convinced I've made the right choices. I might change the font to a typewriter font. I also spent way too long trying to decide whether to do square or rounded corners on my cards. I know that a lot of people think that rounded corners are outdated, but I really like them. 🤷♀️

First week:
Here's what I learned. Someone on here (I thought it was jeremysgirl but I can't find it now so credit to who said this) -- said to just go with what's easy. If it's horizontal, it goes in 4X6. If it's vertical, it's 3X4. That was helpful. You can always change it if you need to but it's a good starting place.
Then Linda ( lasteve1 ) said to have one element that goes throughout the two pages to keep it cohesive. So for this one I used the gold edged labels and it really does tie it all together.
My AE cart is full. Really hoping for some sort of coupon code soon. Or Studio Calico for the album and the page protectors as they are the same.
Thanks for all the advice and cheering on.
On weeks where I have fewer photos, it will just be one page protector, not two. It's just that with the new year, then snow days, then more snow days, we've actually been doing stuff/had time to do stuff so there's more to document.

Will you be doing weekly? Monthly? My plan is weekly, 2 weeks per 2 pages. I stick with design A, makes planning easier.
Do you do a hybrid style where you scrapbook but via pockets with full page layouts too? Yes, full page traditional layouts for trips.
What size will you be working in? 12x12. I only have one album per year and I tried 9x12 and it's too small to fit my year.
So you subscribe to any kits? Yes, SBTM starting Jan 2024, Elle's Studio since summer 2023, AE scrapbook kit since 2023. I'll drop all at the end of 2024 as I'll have built a stash to get me through 2025-26 probably longer. I have a lot of card stash from SC and KP, that I am not getting through. Time to do another destash since I'm obviously not using it. That or I need to give a project one them.
Any favorite companies? Currently AE and Elle's Studio for monthly themed cards/ephemera.
Do you do any hybrid pages where you use digital products? I have digital products, but it's just not my jam. I've tried and I don't think that way. I need something physical in my hand to work with.
eta: I bought all the 2022 SBTM kits last year when they went on sale. I think I got each kit for $10 5.40. I've been using them for 2023. Since she went back to SBTM being geared toward traditional PL, I subbed for 2024.

Tell me for real like it is: If you are one to keep up with the project, how many hours are you spending on it per week? I can make the space for supplies and to be organized. I print at home. I already have tons of 3X4 cards, supplies, etc. I don't think I would buy anything. But I would want each month to have a title page that's similar so maybe I would need some sort of digitals to print. Or some ideas to stamp something. Or I should just drop this and focus on all the stuff I actually need to do? Be real. Help me with your honesty. I do monthly and I spend about one weekend day per month. I am very simple. I don't do a huge amount of photo editing or cropping. I hand journal. I almost exclusively use a kit and am a small stash scrapbooker anyway.

For those of you who like AE SBTM and but don't want to pay full price, she usually has them on sale the following year. I bought all of 2022 in 2023 at a discount. I got almost all months for $5.40. I had to buy 3 at $10, but still a nice savings. Also, usually the same months year to year have a general color theme that will work together so you can mix and match between years.

When I do the project every week, between editing and printing photos to doing the actual layout, it would take about 2 hours. If I choose not to use a kit, it takes even longer because I spend too much time going through my stash trying to find the "perfect" embellishment or journaling card, etc. The searching my stash for the perfect item is definitely my biggest challenge but I'm trying to let that go. I don't make a monthly title page, but I think that would add more time into the project. I'm focusing this month on purging and organizing my space so I can be more efficient with my time. My desk got piled high during the the past 3 months so I cleared it off to keep my current project out to work on. I tend to work better when I can pop into the craft space and work for 10-15 minutes on a layout then get back to chores or pick up my kid, etc. I try and edit photos & delete bad ones every night while I'm sitting and watching TV and that has helped my photo workflow immensely. I also print at home.

So my AE cart is full of kits that are about 13.99 each right now. I removed a couple that were 16.99. I can go through my stash if they don't go cheaper. I need to make sure I stick with this before I spend too much. I love the look of the white border around the 4X6 but after yesterday when it was taking so much time to cut to the perfect size, I have decided that my photos will be 4X6 end of story. No more white border. I did invest in a IACB layered template for photos. It was bigger but I just cropped it and removed some of the boxes. In the set there are at least 3 that I will get a lot of use out of when I have more photos. My daughter was asking about December Project Life since I do DD and I said the album will end in November with the final page having photos about prepping for DD. I don't want to do both projects. I created albums in my phone for the weeks and have been putting potential photos in them. That's been very helpful. I would love to get this down to a couple of hours and I know I will be able to make it work.

I have two different approaches.
Previous Years- Currently working on 2017 - paper scrapbooking - 1 Pocket page to start the month, same style monthly card per month. I pre make them at the start of scrapping the year. This page (front and back) holds all the small stories for the month. - larger stories are scrapped either 12x12 traditional, pocket pages or small inserts. Just depends on what works. I make as many pages as needed. - All my memorabilia is stored in monthly pocket file sorters - I use the PL app to make 4x6 collages to print. I mostly print 3x4 photos. - I work month by month to plan pages, print photos and scrap
Current Year- 2022 to now - I use the PL app to do Photo A Day pages and filler pages - 2022 I did this hybrid, printed 12x12 digital PL pages (2 per month) with just the photos and then printed the journaling on 6x12 paper. I will scrap other stories once I get there and add the pages to the corresponding month in a regular album - 2023 will be a photo book. Each month has a 12x12 full page photo for the monthly title, 3 pages of photo a day (10/11 photos per pages, journaling on the photos), 4 filler pages: books I read, movies/shows we watched, Memes/News and Senses (photo for each sense that represented the month: January feels, smells, tastes, looks like...) -2024 also photo book, monthly title page, 6 picture-a-day pages (5 photos per page and journaling cards), 2 page spread to combine etc: books, news, memes, watching. - I set up templates once I know my format so that every month is the same, just switch out cards. Makes it really easy as there is just less decision making. - I will also have a regular album for each year with a photo book but hopefully with the small stories scrapped it can do less on paper.
