I've decided that I want to start my day off each day with a list of 3-5 things I want to accomplish that day. They don't have to be big or super important, and they won't be things I HAVE to do (for instance I am at the vet with the car) but rather things I want to get done.
Today 1) put away inflatables 2) finish my budget for the month 3) text friend about 80s Night 4) look into contempt paperwork - ETA not a huge deal, he just hasnt paid the taxes he was ordered to pay do any refubd i moght get will go to that debt and id rather he pay it. 5) daily yoga
I'm sure I read this somewhere and it isn't a new idea, but baby steps and tiny habits are much easier than giant lists (which I also have)

Sounds like a great idea.
But, don't like number 4. Sounds like ex is being a butt again. I have filled those papers out numerous times for my niece. Jerks.

I think I'll give this a go as well.
Damn, I hate #4 on your list almost as much as I hate the asshat that caused you to put it there, but please look into it.

My goal was to paint two walls. It took five hours, but it is done. Also had to haul beck in half my craft room.

I almost talked myself out of the inflatables, but because I put it here, I went ahead and did it

I do that. It is very helpful. And I love crossing things off of my list(s). So if I have a bunch of stuff to do for work, I like to make a list on paper. Otherwise I use reminders or google keep on my phone.

Sorry you’re still having issues with the ex! I do the same, make a list of 3 things I want to get done that day, but mine are the priorities to get done. So, even if I don’t accomplish anything else that day, I still feel accomplished. As someone with chronic pain and mental health issues this is big. I also have top 3 priorities for the week. As for habits, yes it’s best to start small. I actually took an online class from the same woman that does the declutter calendar I use a long time ago and it was super helpful. I took it again within the last couple of years and while it still had good ideas, I didn’t find it nearly s helpful as the first time I took it. And now I can’t remember why But the daily homework from the first class, worksheets that made you think, really did work! I’ll try and see if I can find them. But a few things I do remember were starting small like walking 15 minutes a day for a goal of reaching a certain fitness level. To really think about the obstacles to you previously maintaining this habit. Because if they’re still there, your chances of success aren’t great. So you figure out how to work around the obstacles. The thing that helped me the most was to tie a new habit to one you already have. Say you wanted to start using a night mask, tying that to washing your face (applying it immediately after) would make you much more likely to successfully create the habit than keeping it in your nightstand meaning to do it right before you went to sleep. In other words, have an old current habit trigger the new habit.

We do this at work every day. We have to post our 3 MIT ( most important tasks) of the day. They can be small and simple but it makes you accountable and accomplished.

Setting small daily tasks is a good idea. I tend to keep lists, especially if I am looking at a busy day.
But five tasks is too many for me most days. I like to make one goal--like getting groceries, or putting away the holiday decorations--and let the rest fall where it may. Today I got the wrapping clutter out of my room and into the basement, and hung up the clothes out of the dryer. And I am happy with that.

Once I'm back at work, I'll drop it and will likely do one or two for the work day

I kind of do this informally, think of the things I really need or want to check off my list so they’re top of mind as I roll through the day. Since my schedule is pretty flexible, I like that I can choose what things need to happen on what day of the week, and that makes it a little easier to get more things done during the week so my weekends are free to do what I want.

My son was going through some depression a while back and the therapist recommended he do this. He said making a list every day will help with motivation and focus, making him want to get up from the couch. When he told me how much it helped him,I started doing it too. He said not to put “desired repeatables” such as walk the dog, just list 5 new things. It is ok to carry over something not completed from the previous day though. I have found it very helpful. I write mine on a chalkboard so that I can see them from a couple different rooms.

I have a habit of doing this daily - I keep a list of things I need to do in my reminders app and move them around from day to day as necessary to have a manageable list every day.
Right now, though, I'm working on building habits to do certain things every day, regardless of what else is on the list:
Practice an instrument (right now it's my bass, but I had been working on fingerstyle guitar). Complete the daily challenge on Duolingo Do the daily video for Yoga with Adriene's January challenge
Then I usually add 2-3 other things that need doing each day. Tomorrow we're taking down the Christmas trees and getting the house ready for the housekeepers. And I need to do monthly billing for my Thursday private lessons.

I want to get one thing done today. I've been ambling aimlessly and have several things half-done. Indolent and unproductive seems to be the theme for today, yet here I am. Oh, I made a phone call. At least that's one thing ticked off my list.

I usually do this every morning. But I’ve been sick for the last week, so my list goes something like… take a nap, recharge iPad from watching so many videos, call DH to buy more Kleenex and some soup. Hopefully I’ll be back on top of things next week. And your original #4 really stinks. Hopefully it all shakes out in your favor by the time you file.

I typically keep an ongoing written list and mark them off when completed. Sometimes I can mark off a couple or so each day but if non gets marked off that’s ok, too. I keep my list on the kitchen counter near a Maxine page a day calendar so I see it every morning. I tear off a page of the calendar and revisit my list every morning while my first cup of coffee is brewing.

I’ve been doing this is my daily planner/journal. On my work days the items are pretty light/easy and then I have more tasks on my days off. I also pad my list with things I will almost certainly do to feel accomplished and check something off. Sometimes we need a boost! ; ) Today some things on my list are (it’s my day off): 1. Create persnickety prints order (done) 2. Work on my scrapbook projects (done) 3. Yoga (will do tonight) 4. Costco/Target run (will leave soon) 5. 15 minute clean (done)

My planner has a small section at the top of the page with five lines and check boxes in front of the lines. I use that for my daily to-dos.
