Prompted by the recent announcement/release of the final new color in the Ranger/Tim Holtz Distress line ( here), do you have "Full Set Syndrome" (FSS), meaning you strive to buy/own every ink color, paper/embellishment, etc. offered for a given collection? If "yes" or "sometimes," what papercrafting supply/supplies do you collect? TFS.

no - my scrapbook budget has never lent itself to full sets of anything which I think has been beneficial to me in the longterm but has sometimes leads to a wee bit of envy in the short term looking at other people's craft spaces with their full sets of what sometimes seems like everything.

Sometimes, but mostly hardly at all. I learrned from my days of collecting the original distress inks that there are some colors I will never use. Once he started with the additional colors, I knew better and was more selective with anything that is a collection.

When I start into a new medium, I will start with one or two colours. Then if I like it I have to fight myself not to collect them all. I have to remind myself that my pretty dylusions paints dried out before I could possibly use them all after I attended a class by Dyann.

Not only do I refuse to buy full sets of things, if I see a product that I can tell will just keep coming out with new additions each month (like Jaded Blossom's gnome dies) I will resist buying even one so I'm not tempted to keep adding and adding. I just don't have the space, the time, the energy... etc. And I find it difficult to commit to only one thing, so although I would love to have all of Catherine Pooler's inks and *only* have those I know I will end up wanting other inks too. Even if I could trust that the palette was complete (so I could budget to buy the full set and be done) I know there are colors I wouldn't use (so many browns!)

It's very much a sometimes for me. If I adore a product - oxides, sequins or jewels, things like the doodlebug puffy hearts - I will wish I had every colour. But I don't have a full set of anything because I try not to give in to my full-set syndrome!

I said no, never, but it COULD happen. For me, I like something if I think I will use it. I don't have all of the distress oxides because some of the pinks and more pastel colors wouldn't be used. I do have one lighter pink and definitely the bold pink. I won't get the new color because I feel like I have others that are close enough. I would buy greens or blues that are close in color because I will use those colors.
I don't buy full sets of most papers or ephemera.
I am trying to think of something that I have a full set of. I know I have full sets of paper, but that might be about it.

No because if it's something with different colors, I would never want all of the colors because I rarely use pinks & purples. If it's something with just a lot of extra stuff I don't get everything because there's usually some redundancy or there are just certain embellishments that I don't like to use (or if a collection offers a stamp set, I rarely buy the stamp set because I don't see the need a lot of times).

I picked sometimes. Like others I try to only buy the things I like and know I’ll use. The only sets I’ve bought lately are a couple of Altenew stamp sets. I got the matching dies and stencils. Trying my hand at layering.

I usually just buy what I like individually.
I have on occasion bought a paper pad. I only purchased the pad, because the paper wasn't being sold individually.

I said sometimes but in reality only have one full set. Tim’s Distress Inks. There is no desire to acquire any other full sets.

Usually for paper and embellishments. Never for inks.

I chose never, but it's really almost never. There have been one or two exceptions. I think I have all the Prismacolor pencils, and also the 120 color box of Crayola crayons. (There are probably more colors of both now, so I guess I don't have all of those anymore. )

No, I never have. I buy what I like from a collection. I never buy every single item as there are usually 2-5 things I do not want.
I do buy pads along with single sheets when I really like a collection but never buy all the embellishments.
For inks, I use SSS Pawsetively stamps and do not want or have the need for all the colors.
I want to get my money's worth from a product. I don't want to have to store items I will hardly use or never use just to have a complete set.
I know what I use and like and how much space I have in my nook. My space is limiting so I have to be mindful of what comes into my space.

Yes! And I hate it! I definitely have impulse issues (ADHD-related) and when that urge hits to complete a collection - it's really really hard to resist.

I voted "never" but when I first started scrapbooking 20+ years ago (and pre-retirement) I was sucked into buying full sets of some items. Lots of the Making Memories embellishments that came in dif. color sets (eyelets, brads) and of course those paints! So pretty all lined up. In their soon-to-be-dried-out bottles.

I don't have that with mixed media stuff at all. I have a handful of Tim Holtz inks. I have a couple sprays, a couple Nuvo drops, etc. I've had too many mixed media things dry out in the past to get whole collections.
I do love paper collections so I want a lot of it. I have had to teach myself not to get every paper in a collection (unless I really, really love it). I buy die cuts OR stickers, not both. (Although I want both). I am a collection scrapper so buying the whole set is often tempting.
I don't have a pretty scrap area. If I did I would probably be more tempted.

I chose sometimes, but I really believe it's because the size of the collection is small and/or the colors are all appealing to me. If those things had additional items of colors I don't enjoy creating with, I know I wouldn't have purchased just for the sake of being complete.
So examples would be the Pinkfresh glitter drops or the SB.com Pops of Color glitter drops. I love and have them all. There are certain color tones if existed within these product lines I would not buy. But so far they don't exist so I have a full sets.
I have most of the full size TH oxide inks, but it will never be a full set as I don't enjoy creating with browns/oranges.

I get the ones that speak to me for some reason or other (usually cuz I can imagine fun cards or pages with them on). Okay. Some speak to me louder than others. And even the ones I don't see a use for sometimes whisper...

I said sometimes. I very much have this impulse and did it with some paints, which have since dried up. Now I try very hard not to do this with mixed media. I have "most" of the distress inks in their original formula. I started to go down the road with oxides but have since stopped myself. Now I only buy an ink if I need it for a specific project. To be honest, the only thing that probably stops me from completing my distress set is that I have been too lazy to do a full inventory of what is missing. I recently organized them and can usually find something that will work so that is good enough for me.
With scrapbook collections, I often have full set syndrome and buy everything. Part of this is that I like my embellishments, and often my LSS only sells collection packs. I would really like to be more selective with my paper purchases.
My other recent addiction is the Doodlebug Petite Prints papers. Over the last few months, I have really stocked up. I can't say that I have everything, but I have a good selection in most colours. I feel like I can stop...for now.

I think I sometimes do. Not really with scrapbooking lines. I tend to buy the papers and 1 or two embellishments in a collection. They only recent collection that I nearly bought everything from is 49 and Market everywhere....and oddly enough I have almost used it all up!
I did buy almost all the dylusions paints which I have come to regret as some of them have dried up, I am slowly replacing them with liquitex and definitely don't plan on buying all of the colours. I have bought all of tim holtz oxide inks...but about half of the regular distress inks (mostly mini's)...I don't regret this though as I use them. I definitely do fight the urge of FSS!

I chose sometimes - only because when I first saw the Elizabeth Craft Designs planner die sets, I wanted them all! That was "the way" I was going to document things, not 12x12 or anything else. Well. After sinking hundreds of dollars on the die sets, guess what? It's not really how I like to document things. For some reason, I can't decide which papers to use for the planner pages, they're limited in size, I can't make them look like the "pros" do, and it was downhill from then on. I have them, but rarely use them. Maybe when I retire I'll have time to search for ideas on how to use them and go from there. As far as inks - I have Distress Oxides and Taylored Expressions dye inks, but not a full set of either. Plus a few random cubes that I've gotten in kits from Concord & 9th, Hero Arts, etc. Between all of those, I can pretty much find the color/shade I need.

I selected sometimes but it is thankfully very rare.
I do like to buy collections, but usually don't feel compelled to buy all the extras. I've been too trigger shy to buy big sets of inks though I do kiiiiiind of want to. I don't know that I ever will or not.
It has been a bit of an issue for me with buying sets of pens/markers. I now have declared I will never do it again, I have so many in colors I just don't care for.

FSS first hit me hard with Altenew Artists markers. As sets of 12 went on sale for 45% off, I slowly collected all nine...then they came out with two more! I used every fiber of my being to resist buying them at full price and eventually got them on sale, too. If there are colors I never use, I haven't noticed yet -- I color a variety of things.
Then somehow I ended up with all four sets of their water-based dual tip pens, too. Because there are only 48 of those and they're water-based, they are much better for bringing on the road to events or on vacation. But I am adamantly ignoring their new acrylic markets. Don't even know what those are.
I had also been steadfastly resisting any kind of ink pad FSS, but I am caving rapidly to a full-fledged Tsukineko addiction. I used Sapphire Delicata on my 2022 Christmas cards for sentiments and added Ruby, Emerald and Gold for 2023 and used them for adding sparkly details to stenciling as well as for stamping sentiments. Then added the silver to put me over the free shipping threshold on an order somewhere. I'm up to 6 VersaFine Clairs for stamping non-sparkly sentiments. And when my order arrives from Imagine, I will have a little over half the Memento Dew Drops.
The one thing I can't yet determine is whether the fact that there are only 36 shades of Memento is a good thing, a bad thing, or both. Probably both.
