I've been trying to avoid the group because I think some of those people are just way over the top. I can't do drama.

I usually only use the FB group for the guides and other class info, I'm not a fan of the discussions. Sometimes there is useful info that other users provide, though.
My box was supposed to be delivered today but wasn't - it looks like it was misrouted, according to the tracking info. Hopefully tomorrow!

I received my box yesterday. Picket Fence class isn't my cup of tea as well as a couple of others. However, I think most of items I will use and just change things up to "my" colors/taste. Excited to play on my own after the event. As far as the Facebook group goes, I look for the guides and ink swatches and that is basically it. I stay away from the drama.

I'm hoping to start on the homework this weekend! Haven't had time to do a THING yet. Me too! This CA heatwave put a halt on my homework plans and I feel like I'm behinds since I'm doing TSM event the weekend before. Now that it's not scorched earth outside my doors, I can concentrate on being creative. I was looking over the Taylored Expressions products and I really really like what we got. I do not like her color combos at all so I've been going thru Pinterest and think I've settled on Wildberry, Watermelon, Creamsicle and Sea Glass with a touch of Eucalyptus as my class colors. This is the inspiration for my colors: http://instagram.com/p/C-K9v__JeHF

This is the inspiration for my colors: http://instagram.com/p/C-K9v__JeHF I may have to copy you. I agree about TE's colour choices for this event - the last time I was a fan of her colours it was that fall card with the leaves on it back in 2022 maybe? I received my box yesterday. On my first pass through I estimate I like about 2/3s of it. I usually ending up liking almost all of the cards once I've made them, though, or at least I know someone who will like them. My nephews loved those garish Pink and Main birthday cards from last year, so it's always worth me making them regardless of whether its my style or not. Although, for the Picket Fence ones this year, I don't know anyone who will like that, all the kids in my family are male and I don't think the adults will like it. I'll try them out, though, you never know, and I may learn something.

Initial reactions after opoening the box and sorting product:
So. Many. Butterflies. (this is not spoiling, as there are several butterflies in the sneaks)
Not wowed by Libby Hickson's cards for MFT, which surprises me, as I like the dies and stamps, and usually her style.
Underwhelmed by the extra "gifts" compared to what I have seen from you guys in years past. Does anybody stamp without a platform anymore?
Lots of the cards in the book are well done, but not in my color preferences/style. Easy enough to fix.
Totally agree with everyone on the Picket Fence needing a die like that and not including it. Not cool.
Surprised by some of the patterened papers included, and the clash-iness and out-dated look of it. Not the scrapbook.com ones, though, love those and its a full pad!
Overall I am pretty happy with what came, especially this being my first one, other than the Weekender. I am hoping it will push me to try things I don't normally do, like shakers and pastes, and push me to use some new color combos.

I didn't see any spoilers myself but that FB group can be a bit much sometimes. I was excited to get my box this weekend! I have been working on matching ink colors and deciding which classes I can do in real time. Not too thrilled with the Picket Fence class but I've never used glaze so hopefully I can get some tips there. For the Pink and Main class,I think I will just use colored cardstock to diecut. The Scrapbook dot com class is cute but I wish the animals didn't have party stuff on them.
Time to start chipping away at the homework! The stamps have party hats and there's nothing we can do about that. BUT, after opening and inspecting, and I am so excited that the hats look to be easily left off of the die cuts. The hat pieces (and other accessoreies) are seperate pieces.. They are built into the shadow dies, but i think that would be easy to alter when left off the animals die cuts themselves. Excited about that!!!

I'm a butterfly fan so I don't mind but the colors of both are awful. I'm making the Pink & Main cards but changing out the colors to brighten them up.
The Crafters Companion class is one of the two I'm not doing. The cards are just as bad as the Picket Fence cards (the other class I'm not doing), however I do think the products are totally usable.
As for the previous poster who was underwhelmed by the SCT gift, that was why I was so disappointed when I opened my box. I was really hoping for some cute organization product so this was just a let down. I actually thought it was part of the class kit and that I was missing the gift until I saw the Crop & Create logo printed on it.

I like butterflies but I don't think I'll need to purchase any butterfly items ever again after this event.
Yes, I was a little underwhelmed too about the extra gifts. Last year's organization dish thing was perfect and very useful.
Yes, the Picket Fence cards annoy me too because they didn't include what was supposed to be a central focus in their cards.
Overall, still a great box and can't wait to take all the classes. Usually the cards look even prettier in person. I plan to start my homework soon because I would like to take some of the classes live.

Ok fellow Crop & Creators….a tidbit and a question. The Spellbinders colored cardstock is in the ziplock bag with the hideous Picket Fence papers. I spent way too long looking for it.
Am I crazy or is there a missing page of Spellbinder homework pictures?

Am I crazy or is there a missing page of Spellbinder homework pictures? The only thing I saw missing was the white diecuts. However, when I went to do the card base for the third card - I followed the booklet instructions on where to score and my card doesn’t end up the finished size of 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. Mine is 4 x 5 1/2. Perhaps the score lines are not marked correctly? ETA: there is more missing - the pencil parts and the scissors. I might as well wait to do anymore until someone figures it out. Hopefully during her instructor intro.

I haven't even started my homework. In fact, everything is still in the bags. I hope to sort all the products into envelopes tomorrow. I'm starting to panic that I'm not going to be ready for the event. At least I can skip the Picket Fence homework. That class is definitely not happening.

Just a word of advice for those who have not started the homework. If you plan to do the Scrapbook.com cards live, do that homework first. It's A LOT. It looks like she wants the die cut assembly done so she can focus on the card folds instead.

That sounds exactly like how we prepped for the SBFEst. So much die cutting ahead of time so that we had time for all the fancy folds.

I've sorted my box but haven't started the homework yet. I won't be starting the classes until Saturday morning so I only have to do homework for Saturday and Sunday.
I'm having cataract surgery on Thursday afternoon - I was recently diagnosed with a fast-developing cataract that looks like a wagon wheel spoke and hits people younger than typical for cataracts - I only recently got my surgery date, so I'm hoping my vision will be good enough to do cards 2 days later. They say it could be a little blurry still. At least I have the following week off so I can continue to do the classes then. Something urgent comes up every single Crop and Create, I've learned to expect it and roll with it now.

Thanks MDscrapaholic and marie, I'm a bit nervous but I can't wait to have better vision - maybe my card making tastes will change once I can see things more clearly, I'll fall in love with the Picket Fence card haha.

marg - scary to have to have surgery, but I'm glad there is a fix for your cataracts and really hope your vision improves quickly afterwards! Thinking of you! I haven't started my homework, I've just been too busy. I have taken all 4 days off work to participate, so I feel a pressure to at least be prepared for half of the classes. Thanks for the heads-up on the sb.com homework pinklady, because I think that looks like one of the cutest sets in our box (much to my surprise) The Spellbinders colored cardstock is in the ziplock bag with the hideous Picket Fence papers LOL! I thought that too...

Marg, wishing you a very successful surgery and swift healing.
I started my homework yesterday and it is an epic mess. Decided to start with class one and I don't have a single foam adhesive sheet in my stash so decided to make the shaker elements ahead of time by cutting itty bitty pieces of foam strips. What a disaster. Anyway, I'm still not done which doesn't bode well for completing the homework in time for class. I'm going to have to regroup. Will probably just focus on getting the homework done for the classes I'd like to do live and in the unlikely event that I get those done then go back and tackle other stuff.

Yeah, I think that approach is best - focus on what you'll actually do live. Sounds like you had a very frustrating time dealing with the foam strips - they're such a pain unless you have non-stick scissors, and even then they're annoying. I'm hoping to do some homework tomorrow night and in between classes of the Stamp Market event this weekend - I'm running out of time, yikes! I haven't even started yet.

I just listened to Catherine from SCT on the Hero Arts/Jennifer McGuire chat last night: www.youtube.com/live/v1Aq_iFBPU4?si=hBwO3GUEAaRkioQdThese are the events for next year she mentioned near the end of the video: There will be 2 card events again, but they will each be smaller. They will probably do a Halloween cardmaking event next year based on the requests they've received this year when people heard this year's Halloween event is only scrapbooking/papercrafting. She is planning an event with Jennifer McGuire for Feb. 8 (I think it's based on Sharing Handmade Kindness, she mentioned that in the unboxing video). Christmas in July The Spring Scrapbooking/Papercrafting Event The Holiday Event And that's about it. It's an interesting listen.
