Finally, we have the results of DH's bone biopsy. It's not great news. The bone biopsy confirmed that there is lymphoma involvement in his bone marrow in 5 to 7 percent of his marrow cells. They want to get his treatment started ASAP but we have to go through the VA because he has no health insurance. He has a mental health appointment tomorrow and on Friday he has his first appointment to get started with the cancer treatment.
I don't know what to think or do. I am terrified! We are finally able to travel and do things, and then this happens. We are supposed to grow old together.

I'm so sorry!! It just sucks. I'm kinda in the same boat but it is my sister. It is a whole new way of living for her and I am far away. It just sucks. Did I say that? Take it one day at a time.. I know for us once the shock wore off we just try to keep up the spirts with jokes and stories. We are pretty bad in some ways. She has to have a colonoscopy bag (hopefully not forever) and the poop jokes are endless. If we didn't do that we would just cry. Our mom is the same way. I thank God for these women in my life.
I hope you have some support.. hang in there... I pray the VA won't be a huge hassle!

Sending you lots of positive thoughts. Cancer treatment is evolving all of the time and there are so many new options. I'm hopeful that he is able to get great care through the VA.

It is scary and terrifying and hard. My mantra when I was going through treatment was "You don't have to be brave. You just have to show up.". Once he gets started with treatment it will become your routine and it will be easier. I'm keeping you and your DH in my prayers and I am so sorry that you're going through this.
We have a major medical center here in my town and a large VA Hospital. When I was done with treatment, my oncologist left my cancer center and went to the VA so I know they have excellent doctors because he was amazing.
Don't forget to take care of yourself too.

Big hugs to you both. I pray that the appointment on Friday will be good information and you can start this journey with knowledge. I love TXMary 's advice! "You don't have to be brave. You just have to show up."

I am so very sorry that you got this diagnosis. I hope that treatment can stop or at least significantly slow the cancer. Remember to take care of yourself while your DH goes through his treatment.

What did you decide to do about selling your house? Continued prayers that treatment will be very helpful

I feel this to my soul. I'm 10 years from retirement and my DH has melanoma tumors in his brain. He most likely will not be there to enjoy retirement with me if we can't get this crap done and over with. He is starting chemo on Monday because he can't manage to taper off the Decadron steroid. That needs to happen if he's going to be able to do immune therapy. So, chemo first and hopefully follow up with immune therapy. BIG love to you and your family as you navigate these terrifying and difficult waters.
