Next week is the Spring Sneak for GYPO Outfit Challenges. Any guesses on what will be on this years list?
Spring is always my favorite season to shop for and with 70-80 degree weather this week, I am feeling the urge to shop. So what are you anticipating for this year?
My predictions based on what I am seeing online in stores:
wide leg, raw hem denim
lots of blue + pink
silver + gold mixed jewelry

Overall I'm happy with the options I'm seeing out there. Based on what I'm seeing I predict:
Kick flare pants (which I've been wearing since last summer)
Tailored wide leg shorts
Dresses - shirtwaist and sundresses
Prints - more florals but bolder and not so 'precious'
Chanel inspired jackets/sweaters - still seeing some good options popping up.

I like the wide leg trouser-style jeans and chinos, but I’m completely over the raw hem style.
Fave thing I’ve seen for spring is navy-striped boatneck tees, as mentioned on another thread. But I’m probably going to have to settle for a similar striped regular tee as there is just too much fuss in keeping my bra straps from view.

Agree about tailored/structured shorts. I just got a cute similar pair from Anthro.
Slingbacks seem to be popular which I am thrilled about.
The color green.
Loose, tie waist dresses.
I was just shopping on Fillmore street and saw lots of the above.

As long as we get away from puffed sleeves, I'll be ecstatic. It's been so hard to find blouses that don't have puffs, ruffles or some other shoulder decoration. I'm sick of settling for tshirts!

I don’t do GYPO any longer, but I keep seeing a trend that leaves a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach…. Pleated pants and shorts 🫣. I have been happy to see a number of things come back around but no… just no.

I was pretty sure I was warm, and I was leaning toward Soft Autumn or True Autumn, but it’s nice to have a definitive answer. (I was hoping for Soft just because I love desaturated colors in general.) I get the rabbit hole… I’ve tried every app and spent way too much time on the color analysis subreddit! It can be so overwhelming, and ultimately I decided it was worth the money to just pay someone to do it in person, because I wasn’t super confident in the accuracy through photos or video. A lot of what I have is in my season, but I do have to get rid of my blacks and true, crisp whites. It’s freeing, in a weird way, and I’m already getting compliments in work meetings where people are telling me they “love that color” on me. My two sisters did it with me, and they are both Dark Autumn. We thought one was either True or Dark Autumn, but we were all convinced the other one was one of the winters. She’s struggling. 😂 |

I’m so over the puff sleeves. Why won’t they go away?! Same with cropped tops?
I need 3 white tops to dress up or down. 1 short sleeve 1 long sleeve and a 3/4 if I’m lucky. But not tshirts.
I’m short so wide leg pants are out unless it’s a monotone look.
I agree the raw hem has been around for a bit but for a short person I like that I can adjust the length.
I’ve also been on the hunt for a pointelle cardigan. More spring/summer. I got a nice wool one from the gap but that’s going to be put away soon.
Seems like pink is big.
I’m also seeing a lot of denim on denim looks. I’ll probably skip that one.

Well I’ll be the odd one I like puff sleeves - a small puff not a big one. It makes a basic sweatshirt so much cuter.
I also like cropped - but cropped to my waist, not showing belly button or skin lol,
I love lace and broderie and pretty little details.

Most of the styles/trends mentioned above are things I cannot wear (or dislike, such as the raw hem). I'm short so wide legs are out. The types of dresses mentioned don't work on me either.
I'm another odd one out who likes a bit of sleeve ruffle, embroidery, small sleeve "puff" (not the giant balloons LOL). I have narrow shoulders with a small bosom, but I'm long-waisted and have a heavier mid-section so some "interest" at the sleeves or shoulders helps to balance things out and give me a more symmetrical look.
I am hoping for more cool colors as I am a winter! Also tailored/Chanel-inspired jackets are nice and work well on me (the symmetry thing), so I am hoping for more of that.

(I was hoping for Soft just because I love desaturated colors in general.) I get the rabbit hole… I’ve tried every app and spent way too much time on the color analysis subreddit! It can be so overwhelming, and ultimately I decided it was worth the money to just pay someone to do it in person, because I wasn’t super confident in the accuracy through photos or video. A lot of what I have is in my season, but I do have to get rid of my blacks and true, crisp whites. It’s freeing, in a weird way, and I’m already getting compliments in work meetings where people are telling me they “love that color” on me. My two sisters did it with me, and they are both Dark Autumn. We thought one was either True or Dark Autumn, but we were all convinced the other one was one of the winters. She’s struggling. 😂 I had mine done about 2 years ago (paintbox spring in a 4 season system) and wish I had done it years ago! I am actually having a TCI 12 season analysis next month because I am that much of a color nerd now and want to see how that method places me. I thought for sure my daughters were both a warm season since they are fair brunettes like me and was blown away to watch their drapings and end up with 2 jewel winters 🤯. I totally agree about it being freeing to actually limit your options. Shopping is so much easier and more intentional now. I still have a few black leggings and a hoodie, but got rid of a literal tote full of black, white and olive greens that didn’t work for me. And I really don’t miss them at all. In hindsight I had a closet full of clothes that I loved, but they didn’t love me back. |

Black and any bright, saturated, and/or cool colors make me look like death. Guess what’s all over this spring? Ha. I keep trying to make black happen because it’s so versatile but it’s awful. I’ve got two black tops I need to donate. Navy is just as bad. My best neutrals are all muted and neither too cool nor too warm. |

If you are interested in colour analysis then Kettlewell Colours are definitely worth taking a look at. They are UK company but they have a US site www.kettlewellcolours.co.uk/us/faq/love-colourYou can search by season (or tonally) - they specialise in jersey basics in an amazing range of colours. They also have a Facebook Group www.facebook.com/groups/820894071746499 which is really useful to see real people wearing the clothes! |

I would encourage you to do it based on what I know about you and your desire for sustainability with your wardrobe and making purchases that are intentional. I have also had a style analysis done that narrowed down my wardrobe even further. I think you would find the whole process very interesting. |

If you know your season, there are IG and FB groups that are great for helping find your best colors out in the wild. I have found a giant community of women who share their finds (hits and misses) to help me fill in my gaps. |
