The other day TFG talked about charging, or maybe it was claiming they should have been, Bush W., Obama and Biden.

Well MTG had a lot more to say... Complaining about some members waving the Ukrainian flag on the house floor.. remember she has no issues what the insurrectionists did on the House floor, climbing all over, sitting in the Speakers chair, nor even counting defecating/urinating all over the Capitol..

Another comment about the Ukrainian flags. The were small, maybe 5"x 7" if that. Speaker Johnson admonished the wavers, saying that there should only be one flag waved on the house floor.

He also seems to have approved the past waving of the confederate flag in the Capitol!!

Poor MTG is having a tough week. Just yesterday, she got schooled by Dr. Timothy Snyder, history professor at Yale. This was from The Lawrence O'Donnell show last night. It has audio only; introduction is at 27 min 29 seconds, Dr. Snyder speaks at 27:46. A good call-out for those who seem to be on Putin's side these days.

Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk is preparing to launch a campaign against MLK and the landmark civil rights law he helped enact.

I have a very, very radical view on this, but I can defend it, and I’ve thought about it,” Kirk said at America Fest. “We made a huge mistake when we passed the Civil Rights Act in the 1960s.”

Kirk argues that the Civil Rights Act, which bars discrimination on the basis of race, ushered in a “permanent DEI-type bureaucracy,” referring to diversity, equity, and inclusion. He illustrated how the law has gone wrong when responding to a question from a student who said they became the subject of a Title IX investigation after posting an Instagram story mocking transgender people. Title IX, which was passed as part of the Education Amendments of 1972, bans schools that receive federal funding from discriminating on the basis of sex. King was assassinated four years prior, in 1968.

“The courts have been really weak on this,” Kirk told the America Fest crowd. “Federal courts just yield to the Civil Rights Act as if it's the actual American Constitution.” The law is ultimately a way to “re-found the county” and “a way to get rid of the First Amendment,” according to Kirk.

Kirk’s attempt to discredit civil rights law is an example of how “the fringe moves to the center at the speed of light” in right-wing politics, says public policy scholar Jonathan Rauch.

Kirk used to praise Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. prior to December 2023, variously calling him a "hero" and a "civil rights icon"; by December 2023 however, he began to have a negative assessment of King, using a speech at that year's AmericaFest to describe him as "awful [...] not a good person" and as someone who is admired only because he "said one thing he didn't actually believe". The speech also saw Kirk condemn the Civil Rights Act of 1964, calling its passage a "huge mistake" and alleging that it had created a "permanent DEI-type bureaucracy"; he also spoke of the Act as being something that "really weak" federal courts "just yield to [...] as if it's the actual American Constitution" and as having the supposed ultimate aim of "re-found[ing] the [United States] [...] get[ting] rid of the First Amendment".[58] In January 2024, Kirk said that a "myth" had been created around King which had "grown totally out of control" and that King was currently "the most honored, worshipped, even deified person of the 20th century" despite "most people" supposedly disliking him during his life. Responding to accusations by Malcolm Kenyatta that he was working to undermine King and the Voting Rights Act, Kirk called this claim "a lie" and "fear-mongering", and added that telling the "truth" about King "should not be trampling sacred ground" since he was "just a man [...] a very flawed one at that" and a "mythological anti-racist creation of the 1960s". Kirk later claimed to have "found the sacred cow of modern America" in criticizing King.[59]

As to school shootings. Kids today, as we know, are far more likely to be shot and killed in school, then my generation was to be bombed even though we were the first to duck and cover to hide under our desks or hide in the hallways.

Exactly.  If only those objecting to the Ukrainian flags had the same outrage over Trump, mAGA and confederate flags.  Apparently, it's OK if you're a Republican but not OK for Democrats.  Kind of like McConnell complaining about Senate traditions and procedures after breaking all kinds of them by not allowing a vote on Merrick Garland.  OK for him to break traditions and procedures, but not OK for Democrats.

The same Republicans feigning outrage over the Ukrainian flag appearing in a chamber of Congress were completely fine with Trump, MAGA and Confederate flags being used to attack our Capitol police on January 6th.
