And the new arrests of LGBTQ+ persons, considered 'extremists' have officially begun in Russia... Russia's financial watchdog said Friday it had added what it calls the "international LGBT movement" to its list of terrorists and extremists. The implication of its listing was not immediately clear. The Rosfinmonitoring watchdog has the power to freeze bank accounts of specific entities named on the list, but did not name any person or organisation on its website. Russia's Supreme Court declared the movement as "extremist" last November, without saying to whom it referred but effectively banning LGBTQ activism across the country. The Kremlin has taken a conservative turn since launching its offensive in Ukraine two years ago, casting the conflict as a battleground against the West and its ideas. Russia banned what it calls "gay propaganda" among adults in 2022, extending an earlier law that forbade it among minors. That effectively outlawed any representation of "non-traditional sexual relations" in public and in the media. A Russian court on Wednesday ordered two employees of a gay bar to be held in pre-trial detention, accusing them of organising an "extremist organization", the first such case after the Supreme Court decision. It's a long thread (32 Tweets, I think), but a lot of good information. Especially if you think there's no way Trump will be able to become a Dictator should he be re-elected.

Maybe 1 step closer to Speaker Jeffries? more Republicans leavingAnother Republican resigning, leaving Republicans with only a 1 seat majority. There are 4 other seats with special election. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/03/22/mike-gallagher-republican-leaving-house/ Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-Wis.) announced Friday he will resign effective April 19, leaving the slim House GOP majority with a one-vote margin that will make it even harder to pass legislation.
Under Wisconsin law, Gallagherâs seat is likely to remain vacant until January, with the November general election to determine who wins his seat.

Just like every one else.. community service, restitution and education... Instead of up to 99 years And out of office!! Continue as you were.. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton could get the charges against him dropped in exchange for community service and other considerations, according to report on Friday.Paxton, who flipped out on President Joe Biden after Texas Republicans let him walk in an impeachment trial alleging corruption, still has pending criminal charges. But security fraud claims could be nixed, according to investigative reporter Tony Plohetski. *** "Under a draft agreement, prosecutors would dismiss felony charges against Paxton if he successfully completes the terms of the deal, according to three sources familiar with the negotiations," it says. "The sources, with knowledge of the discussions between Paxton's legal team and prosecutor Brian Wice, a Houston attorney appointed to handle the case, said the terms could include community service, advanced legal education classes and a six-figure restitution, among other possible punishment. Two sources said the restitution is between $300,000 and $400,000." It continues: "Under the conditions, Paxton likely would not have to formally enter a plea and must not violate any law for an extended period. Paxton, a 61-year-old Republican, faced up to 99 years in prison if convicted," according to the news report. "Such agreements generally do not require a judge's approval, underscoring the wide authority that Texas prosecutors have to resolve cases." www.rawstory.com/ken-paxton-charges-dropped-community-service/

Regrettably, it looks like Rand Paul and Mike Lee will delay and there will be a shutdown. Government shutdownwww.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/03/22/government-shutdown-house-vote-live/It seems simple: If senators want to offer amendments to this $1.2 trillion spending bill, why canât they?
It is, sadly, not that simple.
If the Senate adopts any amendments to the spending bill, it would guarantee a government shutdown. Any change to the legislation would send the measure back to the House for approval. But the House has adjourned for two weeks â thereâs no one here to approve anything. So that alone would cause a shutdown â and perhaps a lengthy one, too.
Senators are trying to eliminate amendment proposals, or hasten the way theyâre processed, as a courtesy to her.
That can be done in two ways. The first is through âunanimous consent,â in which a lawmaker offers their amendment on the Senate floor and asks if any other member objects. If any other member does object, the amendment is defeated. Itâs quick and easy.
The other, for timely processing, is by voting on an amendment with a 60-vote threshold for passage. That saves leadership from having to wrangle lawmakers to protect against a proposal passing with 51 votes, and thus ensuring a shutdown.
Some Republicans looking to offer amendments have rejected both options, preferring amendments that could pass with a simple majority, said Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.), a key interlocutor with Schumer.
And Coons, who is also close with Collins, has just about had it.
âThis is way past stupid. This is into mean,â he said. âFor those who care about Susan Collins getting to her motherâs funeral first thing tomorrow morning in Caribou, coming to the floor and asking unanimous consent on a difficult topic and having a Democrat come to the floor and block it is almost the exact same thing as having a vote on an amendment that fails. There was a long effort to try and persuade more of the usual suspects to accept that treatment, which has not been as successful as we might have hoped.â

From the result of Hur's report Jordan is going to subpoena Biden's ghost writer because Hur stated that Biden read a classified document to the ghostwriter. However, we know Hur determined that there not sufficient evidence to charge Biden with anything. Jordan's letter to Zwonitzer stated, "Despite President Bidenâs unequivocal contradiction of these material facts, Special Counsel Hurâs report contains references to 'audio recordings' and 'transcripts' of your multiple conversations with President Biden 'related to [your] ghostwriting work of [President] Bidenâs memoirs[.]' In particular, Special Counsel Hur noted that once FBI agents contacted you relating to your ghostwriting work on President Bidenâs memoirs, you 'provided investigators records that included near-verbatim transcripts and . . . audio recordings.' Special Counsel Hur also noted that shortly after he began his investigation, you took steps to conceal some of these recordings and transcripts." Hur did not conclude there was sufficient evidence to charge Biden with a crime in his investigation into classified documents that turned up in his personal papers, and his report outlined clear differences between this case and the charges against Trump for the Mar-a-Lago document stash. However, his editorialization about Biden, and apparent false claims about the president's lapses of memory, have led to harsh criticism from legal experts. All of this comes as Jordan's flagship effort to impeach Joe Biden over his son's business dealings appears moribund, with even Fox News throwing GOP lawmakers under the bus for failing to find any evidence. It also comes as watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) has filed a scathing letter accusing Jordan of abusing his oversight power to threaten and intimidate political opponents. www.rawstory.com/jim-jordan-ghostwriter-subpoena/

ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack in Russia. But tfg claims he whipped ISIS out. Soooo...? Islamic State (ISIS) has claimed credit for the attack in a post on Telegram in the hours following the news. However, experts caution there is no actual proof ISIS was involved, and that the extremist group has a track record of falsely taking credit for disasters they had nothing to do with, to try to inflate their perceived worldwide capabilities. *** But that hasn't stopped some commentators from weighing in on X â and using the opportunity to pummel former President Donald Trump for his past wild claims about ISIS. "Thatâs odd. Trump told me he wiped ISIS off the planet," wrote legal and political commentator Bradley P. Moss, an expert in national security. "With ISIS apparently claiming responsibility for the terrorist attack in Moscow, two things," wrote former GOP-turned-Democratic strategist Ron Filipkowski. "1. Since we warned about an ISIS attack in Moscow 2 weeks ago, which Putin dismissed, our Intel knows more about whatâs going on in Russia than theirs. 2. Trump says he destroyed ISIS." "Somehow ISIS has returned," wrote user "B0I," posting a picture of Poe Dameron delivering the infamous original line about Emperor Palpatine from Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker. *** "ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack in Moscow," wrote Puck News' Julia Ioffe. "Let's recall that the Kremlin has labeled the LGBTQ movement an extremist one on par with ISIS. Bravo, Vladimir Putin." www.rawstory.com/trump-isis-planet-mocked/

Another GOP hypocrite claims Biden's success with the Inflation Reduction Act, as his.. go gym Jordan... Your claims of fake success is not being well received!! Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH) is being called a hypocrite for taking credit for the results of Joe Biden's Inflation Reduction Act, which Jordan voted against.Jordan, a frequent defender of Donald Trump who was recently accused of causing "real harm to the American people" in a letter by an ethics group, has been a staunch opponent of Biden, and has co-led the push to investigate the president for potential impeachable offenses. But on Friday, Jordan appeared to celebrate Biden's major legislative comment, according to his social media followers. â'New manufacturing plant to create 160 local jobs.' 'Sheetz to hire over 400 new employees in Ohio' 'Honda and LG Energy begin hiring for new plant.' Ultimately: Move your business to Ohio. Hire workers. See success," the congressman wrote on his social media. The comments are almost universally about a single topic: Joe Biden's legislative accomplishments. @artcandee wrote, "Thank Joe Biden for the money." @nicholasabrown_ said, "Because of President Bidenâs Inflation Reduction Act â which Congressman Jim Jordan voted against." @attacktrade added, "Jim will take credit for the sun rising tomorrow too." One commenter simply posted an image with the word "hypocrite." Michael Kelly, actor in Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan, also chimed in. "Just look at what Biden has done even though you voted against all of it," Kelly said. White House Deputy Communications Director Herbie Ziskend also pointed out the alleged hypocrisy.
"Thank you [Jordan] for spotlighting how the Inflation Reduction Act is driving job creation in Ohio!" he said on Saturday.Ziskend brought evidence, as well. He included screenshots of various news articles, including, "Toyota, LG Energy sign $3 billion battery supply deal in U.S. EV push," and "Honda and LG Energy Solution Announce Ohio as Home to Joint Venture EV Battery Plant." www.rawstory.com/jim-jordan-taking-credit-biden-inflation/

SCOTUS will hear oral arguments on the Mifepristone pill on Tuesday This first piece has many included comments as well as a time line, which Republicans from Congress have filed. Long read but much info. Supreme Court to hear oral arguments Tuesday on abortion pill limitsJennifer Shutt, States Newsroom March 24, 2024 6:24AM ET WASHINGTON â The same U.S. Supreme Court that overturned the constitutional right to an abortion will hear oral arguments Tuesday over access to mifepristone, a pharmaceutical used in both medication abortion and miscarriage care. The nine justices will then decide whether to leave access to the drug intact or require the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to revert prescribing instructions to what were in place before 2016. The court decision will affect the entire country, including states that have sought to shore up access to reproductive rights following the Dobbs ruling less than two years ago. The Supreme Court opinion, likely not to come until late spring, will land in the middle of a presidential campaign in which Democrats are elevating the question of reproductive rights. The debate is also likely to affect GOP efforts to grow their majority in the U.S. House and flip the Senate red. Trend toward medication abortion Medication abortion, a two-drug regimen that uses mifepristone and misoprostol, was used in 63% of abortions in the United States during 2023, according to a report released earlier this month by the Guttmacher Institute. The new data shows a continued trend away from procedural abortions and toward medication abortion, which is approved up to 10 weeks gestation, that has been steadily increasing since the FDA originally approved mifepristone in 2000. ....whole lot more at link.. www.rawstory.com/supreme-court-to-hear-oral-arguments-tuesday-on-abortion-pill-limits/***** This is a piece about how the Texas Judge use a study with wrong information. He discusses the study with more info. Pharmaceutical sciences professor Chris Adkins was perusing news on his computer in December when he came across an item that fascinated him: Anti-abortion groups had sued the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to force a recall on a commonly used abortion drug. Adkins teaches future pharmacists at South University School of Pharmacy* in Savannah, Georgia. His early-career research focused on cancer drugs, but mifepristone is among the many drugs heâs familiar with. Adkins understood from the medical literature that the FDA-approved two-drug abortion regimen has a high safety and efficacy record. So, it surprised him to read plaintiffs arguing this medication is so unsafe it needs to be pulled from the market. But what he still canât get over is the research U.S. District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk cited liberally to order a suspension of mifepristoneâs FDA approval earlier this year.Adkins dissected this paper the way he used to as a onetime peer reviewer. He told States Newsroom that the authors exaggerated their findings and visually misrepresented them in ways that are âgrossly misleading.â And thatâs led to legal consequences. Except, he said, their study doesnât actually show what Kacsmaryk said it does: that medication abortion leads to significantly high rates of complications. "I canât prove that there was intent to deceive, but I struggled to find an alternative reason to present your data in such a way that exaggerates the magnitude,â Adkins said. âTheyâre misrepresenting its conclusions to begin with. Thatâs my frustration with this whole process.â www.newsfromthestates.com/article/study-cited-texas-judge-abortion-pill-case-under-investigation
