She knows that I have her muzzle...and knows that I want to trim her nails.
It will be better to do this today, a quiet house...no random noises to spook her while muzzled.
It may be all I get done today (although I've already done some laundry and unloaded the dishwasher) but I vow to get her nails done TODAY. |

Oh I worry about his fangs too. This is him, and please note the look of "what the hell are you thinking messing with him?" on his brother's face. (and please forgive the laundry basket. They love to roll around in the clean clothes.)  |

It is done. I had to trick her. I wish I felt guilty...but I don't. I decided to lie down on the bean bag. You see, anytime I lie down on the bean bag, she comes over and proceeds to lie down next to me...taking up more than half the bean bag. Little did she know but I had the muzzle and clippers hidden behind the bean bag. So once she was nice and relaxed...and nearly asleep, I was able to slip the muzzle on her, pick her up, and trim her nails. WINNER!!  |

Yikes...glad I don't have to do that with my cats.
My daughter holds each one and scruffs them and off I go to trimming the nails.
I do have one that I can trimm without holding but, it is much easier to have her at eye level.
Glad you got it done.

I had to wrap my cat in a towel and recruit my son to help hold him down last time I trimmed his claws. Not because he'll attack me, but because he's such a slinky squirmy escape artist and I'm afraid I'll cut his claw into the quick if he moves suddenly.

I need to do my cat's nails too. Man, she hates having a manicure.
She twists and leaps and turns and climbs and digs in with her back nails to get away. I've tried to burrito her in a towel but that just gave her traction. Tried when she's asleep, she's apparently got nail-clipper radar going and will wake in a nano-second if she senses you're near her with them.
I feel like we are both traumatized after Newt's manicures.
I need a drink just thinking about it.

My daughter (who just graduated...heading off to college) tells me "Mom...I don't think she likes the muzzle. I think you should do it without the muzzle".
Put my face a mere few inches from angry cat with sharp teeth? No thank you.

Mostly I do it because he likes to knead my pillow at night but he often gets too into it and gets too close to my neck with his claws. I don't do the other two cats at all unless a trip to the vet is anticipated. |

My cats both like to chew on their nails/claws, which sounds pretty horrible. It's kind of funny because I've been a nail-biter forever, and I never knew cats did it, too, until I got these two goofballs.

I just watched Big Brother on the DVR on the bean bag...with her next to me. So either she forgave me or forgot about it already. (or...was anxious to make sure I didn't get the whole thing to myself)

I only do my cat's front paws when she starts scratching me with needle points. I've finally managed to find a technique where I basically trap her between me and the couch and go to town on them. Lots of treats after. She still bites at me occasionally, but not hard enough to break the skin. The back claws I'm not crazy enough to even think about.

My cats nails were getting really sharp, so I decided to use the dogs nail grinder and try to trim them. I was shocked that she sit there in my lap and just let me grind them down. She did get a little fidgety when I put it on the the higher speed, but she calmed back down when I switched to low again. She has never liked her nails trimmed in the regular way, so I was really glad to find that she would let me do them this way. It is so much easier. Maybe your cat would do better with a grinder.

My cat hides in the closet for up to 12 hours after I put flea stuff (aka "the death juice") so I can't see him letting me grind his nails.  |
