Do you use traditional cardstock (i.e. heavyweight/at least 80 lb/216 gsm, smooth or textured, solid colors) when creating layouts? TIA.

The only time I use cardstock is for cards when I use one of my many die cuts. I will use white cardstock every so often as a background for a 9x12 layout but typically use patterned paper.

Yes, usually as a base for the layout.

It’s rare I make a layout or card without it.

I like to mat my photos with CS vs patterned paper.

It depends on the layout. Mostly as a white, cream, black, or Kraft background, sometimes with mixed media. Those basic colors plus navy and aqua or light blues are my most frequently used colors. I probably am a 50/50 split on cardstock and pattern paper backgrounds. I also fairly frequently use it as a photo matte (for some reason if I do a photo matte, pattern paper doesn't often seem to work for me). I also use it frequently for digital die cutting.

I use it on almost every LO either as the background or to mat photos.

I use it on almost every LO either as the background or to mat photos. This. 99% of my 12x12 layouts start on cardstock.

I have a lot of c/s so I'd better be using it. It still makes a great base for a l/o and matting photos. And kraft c/s will always be a favorite.

I put myself in the "no, never" as the only time I use cardstock is when making cards, or using my Silhouette to cut file to back. Most of my layouts are all pattern paper. Even if I am cutting titles or letters with my Silhouette I tend to use a tone on tone pattern or b-side that goes with my layout.

I use white cardstock as the base for my layouts a lot of the times. I use other colors every once in a great while.

I use white a lot for matting photos. I don't use coloured cardstock very often at all.

Yep sure do! Even though I use a lot of pattern paper in my layout I would say 99% of the time I am also using cardstock on the layout as well.

I often mat my photos with white cardstock when scrapbooking. I very rarely used colored cardstock when making layouts. It's been a very long time since I used cardstock as the base, and when I did it was probably white.

Yes! I use very little PP, although from the stash I have you’d think I use a lot - I typically just use a small strip or two to add to my CS backgrounds, CS silhouette titles, etc.

Most of my layouts start with a solid cardstock. And I rarely use white.

I use a boat load of card stock. I always use the heavier versions and ALWAYS smooth. My Silhouette hates textured card stock - especially for paper piecing with little pieces.

I don't make layouts so I have not voted, but I use solids/heavyweight almost exclusively for the things I do make - die cuts, boxes, board games, storage, embellishments and cards.

I do use cardstock frequently, but I don't pay attention to the weight unless it's something that will be cut with an electronic cutting machine.

Yes. I use cardstock as the background for my layouts. Patterned paper is too busy as a background for my eyes.

I do use cardstock frequently, but I don't pay attention to the weight unless it's something that will be cut with an electronic cutting machine. Note I included the description of (traditional) cardstock to distinguish it from cardstock-weight pattern paper (e.g. 49 & Market, Carta Bella) & pattern paper weight solids (e.g. Echo Park Solids), which I've noticed some scrappers also refer to as cardstock.

I probably use cardstock on 75% of my layouts. I'm fairly influenced by trends and there are a lot of designers out there using mostly white cardstock as their base.
I almost always use textured cardstock. For some reason smooth does not appeal to me. I use white or black as the base a lot but I'll use colors too.
This is giving me flashbacks to when layouts used to always be 90%-100% cardstock and I used to go to my local scrapbook stores and pick out all of the colors. Good times. Although I've gone back to some of my old layouts and added patterned paper because 100% cardstock layouts look weird to me now.

I use a lot of cardstock, mostly white, but occasionally black, navy, and lately I've used kraft. I was late to jump on the all white backgrounds trend but I have definitely embraced it and love how my photos pop.

It has been awhile since I scrapbooked, but I never used plain cardstock as a base. I always use a patterned paper. I don’t mat my photos either, although sometimes I do print out my photos with a border, so that acts as the mat.

I use cardstock on almost every layout. I keep white/cream/black/kraft in stock and buy it in packs. I also have red and some blue. I used to have every color of the rainbow but I found I really didn't use it, so I gave all of that to a children's museum probably 5 years ago or so. That's all in 12x12. I do also make cards, so I keep cardstock in 8.5 x 11, same colors with maybe a few more for cardmaking.

I'm in the use regularly group. 90% of my layouts have both solid cardstock and pattern paper. It's rare that I only use one or the other. But usually it's white, black or kraft. I used to have *all* the colors but a few years ago I went through it all and just kept a basic set of my most used colors and donated the rest to the library. I've got a simple assortment of reds, pinks, greens, blues and browns (12x12) but I did keep all my SU! 8.5x11 cardstock packs so if I need any color for matting or the occasional card I'm set.

This is giving me flashbacks to when ... I used to go to my local scrapbook stores and pick out all of the colors. Good times. ... Ditto. There are no LSSs left here, & I miss the in-person supply shopping experience - perusing entire walls bursting with a rainbow of Bazzill cardstock, aisles filled with multiple racks of patterned papers, pegs full of embellishments & tools, etc. <sigh>
