I just saw a message from leannec asking me to start the thread as she was leaving to eat breakfast with her mom. What is on your menu? I'll post more later.

Good morning and thank you for starting the thread. Are you still at your crop cadoodlebug? I'm gonna go into my office and play in a while. Not sure if it'll be a video game or some paper crafting. I will sign up for an online knitting class, too. I can knit and purl, but need to learn how to fix mistakes and more advanced stuff. Since I can't find anything in person I have found an Udemy class that looks good and it's cheap. Dinner might just be tacos. I want one more day of taking it semi-easy. Happy, relaxing, fun day to all! AussieMeg, wishing you a great work week.

Happy Sunday!
Another work day here. I came in early to get some things done before everyone else got here and the phones started ringing.
I'm stilled wound up from Purdue's win last night. We hadn't been to the Final Four since 1980 and the Championship Game since 1969. It's a big deal to the school and community. DH and DS's sound like they are having a great time out there.
DD is watching all 6 grandkids at my house this afternoon and evening. I told her to come up with something for dinner. She doesn't like tot cook so my guess is pizza.
Have a fabulous day!

Dinner tonight is steak and sweet potatoes that we didn't have last night. We drove around for a few hours yesterday morning/afternoon, so we had the rest of the pizza we got out for dinner yesterday.
Dinner for the week is roast, potatoes, carrots, and a different other veggie each night. It's in the slow cooker now since tomorrow is a whirlwind of appointments. Hopefully litte 'ru will also be ready for pick up. I called last week, and he thought maybe Friday, but I hadn't heard back. The shop had to order a new bumper. Such a mess. Thank goodness for insurance.
And we're the oddballs in the thread not rooting for Purdue.

I'm so sorry that I forgot you were at a crop cadoodlebug! I'm here now! Hi everyone! It's a nice day out today but we expect one more dump of snow this week. Breakfast at Denny's was yummy! Now I am doing laundry and my kitchen needs some attention. Here is what I posted on Facebook today ... I like cooking but I hate the mess ... a dilemma! This is the stir fry I made last night ... sooooo good! What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? I am going for an early dinner at 4 with my girlfriend at a great local restaurant! Have a relaxing Sunday everybody!

doing laundry today.. and messing around. I want to go down the street later and look at an open house.. the house was 2 bed 2 bath.. and now is 4 bath 5 bed.. totally gutted and remodeled. so it was sold in 2022 for 1.5 mil.. now listed for 2.25 mil.. has no view and they are going to build 20 apartments across the street from the house. and it is 3 houses from a major street. 22fairfieldway, san francsico.
sunny day..

Happy Sunday!
We went to the Manassas Battlefield Park today to see the visitors center as it was packed with school children the other day. The area is lovely and down the street from DS's house. After that, we went to lunch at a Japanese place and saw The First Omen.
Tonight, we're going to a Philly Cheesesteak place that they love and then coming back and playing games. DS has to fly out to Phoenix tomorrow morning and I leave in the afternoon. It's been a whirlwind trip but lots of fun.

We are grilling sausages and having pasta salad (purchased), and baked beans (canned, but dressed up) and cucumbers.
Burpee sent my 6 daylily seedlings earlier in the week so we got out and planted them today after spraying the ground to hopefully kill off any Japanese beetle larvae. Last year, those little assholes destroyed my exising daylillies and a chunk of my flowers.

No worries leannec , I was happy to do it even thought it was kinda short! Got home from my crop a little while ago. It goes so fast! As I think I mentioned, there were a ton of old Model A cars in the parking lot and a bunch of old people who were loud! One guy apologized and said don't mind them, they can't hear so they yell. But I finished everything I wanted to finish and made 3 envelopes. If you make a lot of envelopes, Creative Memories has a cool tool for making all different sizes. And paper bows too. I haven't slept so well in a hotel in decades. Their mattresses are like heaven.

cadoodlebug I have a crop coming up at the end of the month Thursday through Sunday. it’s hosted by creative memories consultant but she doesn’t care what we use. But we switched to a new place so I’m hopeful that it’s going to be really good. We weren’t treated very nicely at the last place we were at that we’ve been going to for a while. But that was due to a change in management.

Where were you and your stir fry when I needed you on Saturday night leannec ? That looks a hundred times better than the one I got from the Chinese takeaway! It's just gone 8am Monday here. I am definitely feeling better, so I will work today - from home obviously. I still have a stuffy nose and a cough, but I feel pretty good. BUT..... Yesterday afternoon I lost all sense of taste. WTH?! For those who this happened to when you had COVID, how long did it take to get your sense of taste back? I made a delicious batch of pumpkin soup yesterday, and I'd really like to be able to taste it. Not to mention the half a sheep I currently have in my freezer - those lamb cutlets are are calling my name, but I don't want to eat them if I can't taste them.

Not much going on here today but I managed to do some laundry and take the dog for a walk. It was a beautiful day and I also sat in the deck and did some reading. Tomorrow starts a busy week that includes routine bloodwork, breakfast with a friend, DH’s 6 week cardiac followup (7 months later) and lunch with a friend. I’m also hoping to get a few bike rides in if the weather cooperates. Supper tonight was grilled pork chops, grilled potatoes and peas. AussieMeg: It took a couple weeks for me to get back my sense of smell and taste when I had Covid the first time.

It has been at the same place since the first one. They have totally renovated the hotel, during the past 4 or so years but we've gone during the renovations except for twice because of early Covid. My favorite thing is they put in an exercise room so I walked on the treadmill and read The Women every day. No one else used it that I know of.

AussieMeg : It took a couple weeks for me to get back my sense of smell and taste when I had Covid the first time. Whaaaaaaaat?! Oh well, I guess this will help me lose some weight, because I'm not going to bother eating nice foods if I can't taste them. Oh, and I also haven't had a coffee since Wednesday - that is a record for me! I just don't feel like one, which is weird because I usually have at least four a day. The last time I went off coffee was when I was pregnant with my son, nearly 20 years ago.

When I started out traveling, mattresses were soft and saggy and I would get back aches, then they turned great / heavenly and were so comfortable! I even bought some pillows directly from one hotel I stayed at as I loved them so much. Then in the past 7-8 years of travel, the mattresses are so darn hard I feel like I'm sleeping on the floor and toss and turn all night. If I can find a hotel brand that has heavenly mattresses again, I will be a loyal custome even if I have to pay more.

we have a McRoskey mattress made in the Bay area and used in many high end hotels. there is a showroom right in SF (under their original factory) and some other places in the bay area.
They are expensive but so so good. we have their softest mattress.. and after 20 yrs are just about to replace it. we got a new one for our condo in Idaho.. it came within three weeks of ordering it at the height of the pandemic.
they don't use foam at all. you have to flip and turn them regularly but that's not a big deal.
so though on the pricey end, the fact that they are so good and last so so long.. makes it a good value to me.
btw, we didn't watch any college basketball but we just watched the Giants baseball team beat the Padres..

Do you mind sharing what hotel brand this heavenly mattress was at. It's at the Kiota Inn in Sutter Creek, CA. But they aren't a chain and have just recently moved from Choice Hotels to Ascend Hotel Collection. I wish I knew the brand of mattress. But I'm pretty sure that even if we knew the brand, they don't sell the same mattresses to the public that they sell to hotels.

Just knowing it is under Ascend Hotels, I can start there next time choosing one under that collection. Sometimes when a hotel in a collection updates, they update to a "standard" for the collection.
It is so true about them not selling to the public. It was the same with the pillows that I purchased directly from the hotel. I tried to find them online later with all the info on the tag and they were not to be found.
Thank you!

We're having the chicken we were supposed to have last night and we ended up having rechauffe last night. I am tired but feeling slightly better about things today - lots of ups and downs with the grieving process. Thank you all for your kind words of comfort; I know many of you have been through similar stuff and worse...and it helps to know others understand.

Oh that got me thinking this might be number 20 if not more than that. She does them twice a year once now and once in November. It was always at the same place. It was a big room that people used for weddings, and it was attached to a hotel, but the management changed over the past year and the hotel and the banquet room. were not run by the same people. So that was an issue this last time. The new place we’re headed to, I’ve been at before for conferences. And it’s really nice. I’m very much looking forward to it. I have two baby Scrapbooks to get started. I think we laugh more than anything.

leannec that stir fry looks delicious. We grilled chicken and steak burgers with corn on the cob, green beans and potatoes. I love the sheets at a hotel we stay at in Siena. We aren’t staying there this year but I might stop in to ask. They’re just a nice crisp cotton.

Sometimes when a hotel in a collection updates, they update to a "standard" for the collection. The mattresses were in place at least a few years ago before they went with Ascend. I don't know if they were Choice then or not. A while back they were a Days Inn, the best one I had ever stayed at! christine58, we also have a massage therapist that Cathy brings in for two days. I had a 90-minute massage on Friday night that was pure bliss. Have fun at your crop!

Good morning (Monday) from Dubai airport. We left Sydney at a bit after 9pm Sunday and I managed to get a fairly decent sleep once I ate my dinner - smoked salmon with goats cheese, followed by Bzar Chicken, which was delicious spiced chicken cooked in rice, sort of like a biryani, but middle eastern. We will be boarding our second flight in about 45 minutes and will be back on Munich just after lunchtime Monday, local time. AussieMeg - I hope your sense of taste comes back soon - it was the worst part of Covid for me. Even now, nearly 2 years later, some things don’t taste right sometimes and I occasionally smell random smells.

sueg, I'm sure that you can't wait to sleep in your own bed tmw night. I hope you can get good sleep tonight, though. AussieMeg, I didn't lose my taste entirely, but everything tasted weird. I couldn't smell a thing for about a week and taste was off for about a week. Dh lost his sense of taste, but not smell. He developed double pneumonia, so his taste was kaputz for about 3 weeks. I'm sorry. Some people only lose taste for a few days, if that. I hope that all of your sense come back right away and that you feel much better this week. I have a Sleep Number bed and would never buy anything else. I LOOOOOOOVE my bed.
