I know it's early, but I'm bound to get busy this week and I missed last month.
I missed last month because I made a crazy and impulsive decision to have lipo suction and skin removal March 26th at sono bello and I was out if it and hurting for a while. I finally feel pretty much back to myself.
I started back walking with my friend this week after taking about a month off. I haven't gotten back to running yet. I'm hoping before the end of May. My friend and I are walking a 5k in Estes Park net Saturday.
How has everyone been doing?

I've been missing this thread!
How are your results after your surgery? I think I may need some skin removal after I get to my goal weight and stay there for a while. I think I'll really need it for those blasted upper arms!
I'm plugging along. Weight loss has slowed this year (I've lost about 20 pounds since New Year's), but I am consistently below 200 now and I hit the overweight category today!
My blood pressure is definitely lower now that I've lost weight, but that's when I test it at the grocery store (it was 96/67 this afternoon). It was not that low when I went to the rheumatologist earlier this week. He was pleased with how well I was doing.
I see a specialist in a couple weeks about my mild sleep apnea - I'm wondering what he'll recommend, but at least I've lost additional weight since I did my at home sleep study in mid February.

Wow! freecharlie are you healed and seeing the final results? I'm hoping you are loving it. What a great treat for yourself. ❤️ I'm not giving myself any hassles about what I eat at all right now. I had surgery on my hand on Monday. I had a tumor growing at the inside base of my thumb. I still don't have pathology report yet. However, I haven't had a cigarette in ten days today. It's so fucking hard. I feel like my brain is crying constantly. But I'm resisting so far.

Avoiding cigarettes will help improve your circulation, which will help with your healing. I once asked my grandfather how he quit smoking (he quit when my older brother was born in the late 70s), and he said he woke up one morning and decided to quit, and he did that every day afterwards. Praying that you receive a good pathology report!

jeremysgirl nice job on quitting smoking! I smoked from 12-25, took a year off to have ods and then started again. Finally quit at 27 with yds and never looked back. It is very freeing.

As for my procedure, I did very little research and it was impulsive. I had a consultation where my plan was to just see how much it cost and then work my way towards it...and instead I had the surgery the next day. I had no idea what to expect for recovery and that was a mistake. I was on spring break, so I was able to rest.
The procedure itself was fine. They give you drugs and you are out of it. The only thing I really felt was the blood dripping down the area that wasn't numb.
Recovery sucks. The first week was hard and they want you in a compression garment. There is bloating and pain and incisions...
I'm supposed to go back to get lipo on my back and right now I'd rather lose the money than go through it again.
But the never going away skin and fat of my tummy is gone. So is my birthmark which is weird. My pants fit weird because my stomach poof isn't filling them.
They say it takes 6 months to a year for final results. Mine looks pretty good now. I am part of a fb group and that doesn't always seem to be the case.

Oh, wow, that is a lot to process in a short time! Hopefully you will continue to recover well!
Do you have to have your back done by a certain time before you lose the money? It may be better if you have more time to heal/can have it done midway through your summer break. At least for that procedure, you would have a better idea of what to expect and you could plan ahead to be better prepared before and after surgery.

I was actually scheduled for tomorrow, but after I realized the recovery on the front, I knew I couldn't do it and make it through all the end of the school year stuff, so I pushed it. I'm hoping exercise that kind of targets that area will make it look good enough.

My DH had skin removal surgery last Monday.
He had his done by a plastic surgeon at the Ambulatory Surgery Center at a hospital.
They did a nerve block that lasts up to 72 hours and has on;y had to take Tylenol and that very infrequently. We were dreading the pain, but were totally surprised how well that nerve block worked. He had 13 ponds of skin taken off , all from the lower abdomen.
He still has the drains and may for a bit as he is draining a lot. The binder is making him crazy. All the cotton batting underneath shifts constantly and wads up. But truly, this is a small thing compared to what pain could have been.
They kept him for observation overnight ( surgery had started at 1:30 and he got 23 hours before he has to be admitted, The surgeon saw him the next am and we went to the office on Thursday and back again tomorrow. I don't think they will pull the drains yet but we are more than ready!
Sorry yours was so painful.

The skin removal just gets tight at times due to bloating from the lipo. I didn't mind the pain. I hated not being able to shower and they want you to wear this faja that had a hole for you to go to the bathroom. I would think that would be way easier for a man to navigate.

I had lipo done to harvest fat to use around my implants as part of post-mastectomy reconstruction, so it wasn't major amounts, but yes the recovery was NOT what I expected and I told DH don't ever let me consider this ever again no matter what I say.
I think I said something similar when giving birth the first time and asked my mother how did my younger sister ever get born. Yet, I did it again, lol.
I totally get not wanting to do the second part! But I'm glad you're healing well. On the humorous side, they put me into that compression garment BACKWARDS during surgery and I asked her if it was backwards when I got up but I was still groggy. She told me it was fine. It was not, and I couldn't fix it by myself, and my husband had to come undo it and put me back in it after I peed. I gently leaked fluids onto some puppy pads all night and into the next day. Then we left to go on a pre-planned camping trip, where thankfully it was cold enough for me to not mind the garment at all. I brought wet wipes and pain pills and had a great time tottering down the beach under the influence of vicodin, collecting things that washed up on shore, amusing my husband.

He did not have lipo.
Did you have that the 1st round?
I must have misunderstood, because I thought that was just the skin removal and the lipo was later.

I was diagnosed with diabetes in March 2023. I started taking Metformin daily and also began intermittent fasting. One year later, I have lost 50 lbs, my A1C has gone down from 7.7 to 5.3 and my blood pressure has decreased dramatically. I have continued with the intermittent fasting and it has now become a lifestyle change. I’ve managed to maintain the weight loss and am so happy with my new body. I really didn’t think at my age of 58, I would be able to lose the weight and feel so good.

This past month has not been good for me. For the first time ever the first number on the scale is a 2. I’ve been eating healthier, drinking water instead of pop, and still off the caffeine but I just can’t seem to go in the right direction. My feet keep swelling and it seems to be tied to my cycle. Lots of pain and spasms everywhere that come and go. l need to pick up the stupid phone and schedule my physical therapy so I can start to exercise. I’m afraid to do much of anything days for fear of making something worse. Only 3 weeks of work left until summer break. Hoping that will be the kick I need.

I am back in the gym. I am walking the days it is raining and cold outside. I need to work up the nerve to get someone to help me figure out the machines. I am still weight training at home but want to do more.
I survived the winter with no weight gain. That is a huge accomplishment for me. Stress from work and lack of movement has always been a downfall in the winter. I am having some trouble with plantar fasciitis. I purchased some new tennis shoes to walk in. I am going to have to be really careful with what I wear to work.
I have finally figured out macros and I am enjoying tracking my meals.

I'm glad you got results but I'm sorry recovery has been so rough. I hope it gets better! I really appreciate your sharing your story. I've been contemplating a tummy tuck after I mentioned to my doctor that my tummy pooch wasn't going anywhere and she said "if it would make you feel better about your body you should consider plastic surgery because they can take care of that." I love her so much. One thing holding my back is that I do Pilates religiously and have been working really hard to strengthen my core. I finally qualified for the advanced classes this week (my new year's resolution!), and I REALLY don't want to mess up my abs or be unable to work out for a lengthy period of time. I don't even know who I am anymore--I have always hated all physical activity!

Went back to the gym today for the first time in 8 weeks. I did an E-Volt body scan for my trainer. At least I have kept lean muscle mass. Everything else is bad.
I just walked on the treadmill this morning. My trainer sent me three weight lifting workouts. I will begin on Wednesday.
I have to not go off the rails on the weekend.

Doing my best to stay active with these last couple of weeks at school. Technically, I'm not completely cleared until nextTuesday, but I ran a bit this Tuesday as my friend didn't show up to walk and I was already at the gym.
I do need to get my eating back under control.
I'm losing my walking/workout partner as she is moving. What do you all do to stay motivated

I'm trying to just keep at it one day at a time.
My mom's Alzheimer’s is really wearing me out, so I haven't been moving much. The rain hasn't helped in either scenario.
I am still losing weight (just under 195 today!), but I really need to focus on muscle.
Went to the neurologist today to follow up on my at home sleep study from February. I have mild sleep apnea (about 10 episodes an hour, where sleep apnea starts at 5 an hour), but he was more concerned about my disproportionate drop in oxygen levels in my sleep. He's ordered a sleep study in the hospital, with the idea that they'll try out CPAP machines/masks while I am there. I'm hoping once I get good rest I'll have more energy/patience. I'm also hoping they can get me in for the sleep study this month, as my insurance year ends May 31st, and I met the out of pocket max months ago.

I finished my first week of lifting. On week 2.
My eating has been terrible. I started off last week doing great. The weekend came, and it all went to hell. Lost 2 pounds, gained it right back.
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week at school. I call it: Feeding Fat cells week.
Sunday is Mother's Day.
I will get back on track starting Monday.

If you feel like doing more then do more. Otherwise give yourself permission to quit

So a weird thing happened today. I took my mom to the doctor this morning, and while we were waiting for him, I measured my height. I am actually taller! I'm normally 5'8", but today I measured 5'9"! The doctor verified it too.
I wonder if part of it was because it was early, so my spine hadn't compressed as much during the day, but I also wonder if part of it is because I've lost just over 100 pounds from my heaviest weight. I sent a side by side comparison of when I was around my heaviest and Easter to a friend the other day, and she said she thought I looked taller - that's actually what made me measure my height today.
