cakediva ~~ That is a pretty pattern and yarn. Looks very soft. I'm going to refresh my crocheting skills with a friend next week. A bit more portable than lugging around a sewing machine, especially in the summer. marysue63 ~ Great looking quilts. Even better when the fabric is from a "find". Do you quilt them yourself or have someone long-arm quilt them for you? lainey ~ Sorry that this is a sad month for you. Also that your husband has been made redundant. Are there any other jobs for him that might be available? Also, I understand about the sadness. April was my month of yuk, dealing with past deaths. Hugs to you. Your socks are always so very pretty. I look forward to seeing the next creation that you make. Thanks quiltz, I’m always looking for a bargain! Depending on the quilt I try and do them myself because of the cost of taking it to a long-armer. Do you know of Quilty Love? I use her wavy quilting technique and have been very happy with the results.

I dusted off my sewing machine this morning and made a project bag. I was looking through my stash last night and really wanted to use this deer fabric. My ironing skills have never improved

It's Bambi! What a cute fabric. Great bag as well. Is this for one of you knitting projects? Those bags are so useful in many situations. As for the ironing, I found that mine improved (with sewing) when I started using one of those fine mist spray bottles filled with water. Does a better job in many cases than using just a steam iron. Mist the fabric and then press. For a more crisp look when needed (without flaking), use some like Mary Ellen's Best Press or Magic Quilting & Crafting Spray.

It is, it's already got a skein of yarn and some needles in. I'll try misting my fabric in future, I do need to buy a new iron as well.

I'm behind at keeping up with this thread but can I say, not enough pictures!
I'm just here for the eye candy as I haven't anything to post at the moment.

I can't remember how to post pictures, but I am making some progress on my long list
The baby quilt has the binding sewn to the top and I just have to hand stitch it to the back.
Borders are on the tradewinds quilt. I just have to sew up the backer, then I can call the long armer.
Begun sewing the rows together on my 42 weeker mystery quilt (well, rows 1 and 2 are sewn together, haha)
Colour palette for the quilt we're making in a Quilt Canada class is decided upon. Will go shopping with my little quilt group and we'll all gets our fabric at the Sugar Pine.
My new craft room is now fully organized and I LOVE it.

I made this necklace for my mom for Mother’s Day. There is a matching earring set (made to match the two outer butterflies). I even assembled the chain myself, which was a new thing for me, but it was super easy! I made it long enough for her to slip over her head, but if she wants it shorter, I can cut it, and it has a clasp. )

Good morning! Can't believe it is May already. I am still recovering from hand surgery so all my crochet has been put on hold. I hope to get back some crochet ability by the end of the month because all this sitting doing nothing is driving me insane. I swear when I am done I'm going to need to totally detox from my phone because the amount of time I have spent scrolling makes me feel gross. But other than reading, I'm quite limited in what I am able to do. When I do get back to crochet, I'll pick up with my Christmas ornaments and my green shawl. I’m sorry to hear about your hand. I hope it heals quickly!

Hello lovely crafty peas, it's shot round to May this year! I'm knitting some bed socks for next Winter, I'm hoping to get three pairs done this year. May is a difficult month for me, it's the anniversary of my mum's death and this year we've also had to contend with my husband being made redundant, his family having health issues, our house needing repairs. It's feeling a bit endless atm, knitting has kept me sane (ish!) and it's always lovely to see what other people are working on so thank you for sharing everyone. 🤗

I’m really liking how the blanket is turning out. I love the colours. I was expecting it to twist and it is a little but as the one on the pattern has too, I’m ok with that. I’m glad I swopped to it from the patchwork cardigan. The size of the squares and the length of the color changes in the yarn don’t suit each other in my opinion. This isn’t how they’d be made up but the overall look is too dark to my mind. Absolutely beautiful!

Is it the yarn that is used? Are there special patterns that simply *know* how to make the colour change happen so seamlessly? Where would I find this yarn & pattern? Simply beautiful!

I haven't been around as much lately but hope I'm still welcome to pop in and share some basket photos! The one at the top left was a "commission" from my sister - who wanted something to put toys in for their new puppy. If you're interested, I posted a brief video on the making of that one on my pinterest board: pin.it/6Rz4rkzBn (If you're hesitant about clicking links, I'm onemorejennifer7142 on pinterest) The other four were woven at the convention my mom and I attended in January. Had a great time, great teachers, and came home with four fabulous baskets! small photo under the toy basket: Pinckney by Pam Milat "In honor of Eliza Pinckney who introduced and cultivated the indigo plant in SC in the mid-1700’s, this small twill basket is woven with indigo dyed reed." This one is approx. 4x4x4. big photo top right: Blue Bayou by Debbie Wilson This is was my first experience with a coiled weave - yay for learning new techniques! - and it is woven on a (dried, painted, sealed) gourd. bottom left: Lightening Biscuit Basket by Anne Bowers “This unique basket starts with a basket base that features fractal burning by Anne’s friend, Dan Ridgeway. Black cane spokes are inserted into the base, twining and plain weave bring the sides up. Rim is beautiful with black cane on the outside rim, leather handles, dyed rim filler and double lashed waxed linen lashing.” bottom right: Madras Tote by Kathy Petronzio Love the color, herringbone weave, and leather handles on this one! It's about 15 x 9 x 7.

Lovely to see you posting jennifercw! Your group of baskets is just amazing and I really like the descriptions. I love each and every one but my favorite has to be the coiled one. I love the theme of blues too.

Thank you quiltz . The color changes in this instance are just the dye of the yarn, some have quite abrupt changes and others have longer changes. This yarn is Sirdar Jewlelspun and the blanket is a free pattern, the Coastal Haven Blanket from Nana’s Crafty Home. I say it’s free but I have a feeling I paid a one off subscription a while ago and patterns are free thereafter. This is what the yarn looks like in the ball.

I love the theme of blues too. Thank you! That coiled one is so interesting, isn't it? It feels like a sculptural piece of art. I've got so many different baskets on my list of "things to try" but I would like to attempt another coiled/gourd creation some day - and maybe come up with my own design!

jennifercw I recently saw a beautiful basket at a farmers market and thought of you, wondering where you've been. What a treat to open this thread and find all of those gorgeous baskets! The coil one is very cool.

Photo dump from me…. 🥰 lasered keychains. One for each graduate this year-m names are on the back. family shirts for a friend. sweatshirt for my DD's gym coach. family shirts for a friend. shirt/onesie set for a friend at work. medal holder for this years gym medals for my DD. card for my secretary. keychains for my DS's baseball team. Each one has a teammates name on the back. trying out my laser on blue. This one went to the HS principal- his name is on the back. laser gift card holder. I designed start to finish from a coffee cup jpg. smaller gift card holders for mothers day using my design. bamboo lid that I lasered to go with the flower/butterfly cup. cup for my secretary to give to a friend. stole for me to wear at graduation. We didn't have them when I graduated since the school was just figuring itself out. This is electric vinyl on it so it's shiny but not glittery. It looks almost like a satin stitch.
