Good morning.
This is day 1 of a way-too-busy week. I will never let dh schedule this much stuff at all at once, again. This am the HVAC people are coming. Meanwhile, I have to finish bagging up for the termite people on Wed. I have a video appt this am, too. The migraine shot worked for a few hours, yesterday, but I'm gonna take oral rescue meds today. That means that I'm going to have to fight a nap. I'm sure that the stuff they sprayed in my crawl space caused the stupid migraine. I'm in a whiney, fussy mood. That's unusual for me, but I don't do well w/chaos.
Dinner will be Ramen from the freezer.
What's on your menu?
What does everyone have planned this weekend?
leannec, how did speed dating go? Any funny stories? Any potential men?
May this week be a happy, calm week that is filled w/reasons to smile!

Your day sounds like a nightmare scrapmaven ! I hope it goes by fast so that you can rest! Well, Speed Dating was a lot of fun! The time went by so fast! I met some interesting men ... they all a good qualities and made an effort to seem genuine ... Out of 14, I am interested in getting to know three ... Here is my scorecard! The organizers said that we should hear back from them by noon ... I was obviously picky! I'm most interested in Eugene! He was super nice, handsome, a great conversationalist and gave me some really heartfelt compliments ... he thought I was sarcastic and funny - I am! I'll let you know later if I have any matches! Obviously I am not working today ... no plans so I'll just putter around the condo ... My mum is coming over for dinner ... we are having ham, scalloped potatoes and peas.

After having a busy weekend, I slept late today. I woke when DH left at 5:30 for the airport, put on a podcast and next thing I knew it was 7:30. I decided to have an easy day - I’ve been for a walk and watched a couple of videos for an online course I’m doing, but that’s all. I am still waiting to hear back from the clinic about my scan, which is a bit annoying, but at least my major commitment for the time being is done.
It has been a lovely day here, but in the last 10 minutes it has gotten really dark and I can hear thunder coming closer, so I expect a downpour soon.
Dinner tonight is beef stir fry with rice. Nothing too complicated when I’m cooking just for me.

Happy Monday!
I'm plugging along at work and also put in a grocery and wine order since I'm low on both.
It was a busy weekend. Yesterday, my sisters and I volunteered for Rise Above Hunger and made 10,000 meal packs for Ukraine. I was in charge of sealing the bags and my shoulders are a little sore today. it was put on by our city's rotary club and had a pretty good turnout. I'd definitely do it again as it felt very humbling and empowering at the same time.
Dinner tonight will be the spaghetti I didn't make last night as we ended up at one sister's for dinner. My parents will come over and eat with me.
Hope you all have an awesome day!

scrapmaven I agree with cadoodlebug, hang in here! I know, easier said than done... I was hoping to see an update leannec. Sounds like you had a great time! It has turned in to quite a Monday. I'm not used to getting up and rushing around to get 4 boys ready. I am not a morning person so it just started my day off on the wrong foot. Come in to work and it has just been one thing after another. The day has started cold and overcast. I guess I am just in a sour mood. I have no clue what is for dinner. 3 of the boys have baseball practice and 1 has soccer. I might throw hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill. Have a fantastic Monday!

leannec , I'm glad that you found 3 nice guys last night. I hope that Eugene is also interested and that the two of you have a great first date. Do you have any baaaad stories to share? My blind dates would make a comedy routine. cadoodlebug , I wish your words rang true. A very dear friend is going to be living there for a few months. So, we're busy clearing out space for her. It's a lot of work. I like your meme. It totally fits right now. Tearisci , thank you for doing such a kind thing for so many who need it.
stormsts , we'll share our day. Soon, it'll be over and we can relax in our comfies. Let's make the most of it, if we can.
sueg, I'm praying for good news from your scan. Waiting just sucks.

Haha, in the sorority house, we had something called *The Fickled Finger of Fate Award* that was given to the sister who had the worst date story. Let's just say I won it 3 times... I'm pretty sure my mom used that award every chance she got when we played Scattergories when I was a kid... I haven't thought about that in years! Dinner tonight/this week will be pork loin, green bean casserole, and another veggie each night. I took off my monitor this morning. It was SO. ITCHY. I think the Allegra I took earlier has helped clear it up though. I did notice as I was packing the phone that comes with it to send back that there was an adhesive overlay that I could've also been using this whole time to keep it extra snug. Oops. DH says he's glad I'm no longer part robot. Now just to wait on those results.

I had a huge post all typed out and my phone froze and I lost it all.
The shortened version: Quiet day here today. Tonight is a retirement gathering for a former coworker. Appetizers are provided so I plan to fill up on chicken wings and nachos.
Dr appt tomorrow. Still having some chest discomfort issues so hoping to chat with the dr about that.

scrapmaven and stormsts - Be as cranky as you want. We went to the wedding reception this weekend. It was one of the strangest I have been to. It was for drinks and appetizers. Not enough seating for everyone, it was crowded (which I guess is good for the couple!). And the appetizers consisted of cheese, sausage, crackers, chips, pulled pork sliders, veggie tray, and dip. That's all. Not what I was envisioning! Anyway, we stayed maybe 2 hours then went back to the hotel so the kids could swim. Tonight is hamburgers, cottage cheese, fries or chips. I did a grocery order to pick up tonight. Hope you match with the guy you want! leannec

Tonight I will be eating rechauffe tomatillo pork and mashed potatoes, plus broccoli. (Last night was carrots and zucchini.) cadoodlebug, THANK YOU! That recipe is a winner. I used a jar of green tomatillo salsa in place of actual tomatillos, as you advised. Can’t wait for the pork roasts to go on sale again. For the rest of you: www.tastyeverafter.com/easy-slow-cooker-tomatillo-pork/scrapmaven and stormsts, I agree with scrappert. You go ahead and feel just as disagreeable as you like. What a day! taylortroop, you take care. Get that chest pain dealt with.

Forgot to add, as I recall, the Fickle Finger of Fate award originated with Laugh-In, or maybe Rowan & Martin? One of those edgy late-’60s comedy shows, anyway. Or Smothers Brothers? They all were always getting canceled for pushing the envelope too far. ETA was Rowan & Martin the same thing as Laugh-In? cadoodlebug, because she’s probably the only one besides me who’s old enough to remember.

We are having BLTs tonight. The market we go to has had Heirloom tomatoes $.99/lb the last few weeks. They actually taste like a fresh locally grown tomato!

The painter started on the outside of the house today.....He started at 830 and he just passed the halfway point of scraping and sanding the front. The person that painted 10 years ago never sanded so this poor guy has his work cut out for himself. All that to say I worked last night (and saturday to cover a sick call) So the scrapping did not make for a quiet rest for me as the head of the bed backs up to the front of the house. I would imagine this will be a job that lasts more than a month!! I hired him as I have seen his work and his estimate was reasonable.
So my weekend was a wash what with the extra work shift. Dinner will be pork roast that I took out of the freezer. When I do the rack of pork I buy at Costco I divide up the leftovers and freeze them in meal size portions, makes for easy meals. I'll do some red potato and a salad to go with...and the obligatory apple sauce!!

Good day, everyone! Can I say that I am happy that it is Monday!?! We had such a jammed packed weekend that I am happy to be sitting at my desk in the office this morning. Thursday night was our anniversary. The Mister had flowers delivered to the table before we got there. They are soooo beautiful, filled with lots of my favorites. Another couple mentioned the flowers and asked if it was our anniversary. They insisted on buying us a bottle of wine! Side note...I don't drink!! The waitress poured us two glasses and I told my dh when he was close to finishing his glass to switch glasses with me when they weren't looking! I didn't want to hurt their feelings. Dinner was amazing! AussieMeg we had dates stuffed with chevre cheese and wrapped in bacon, wedge salad, and for my entree I had a 5 oz tenderloin with bordelaise sauce, with bacon, mushrooms, and onions. Served with three blackened shrimp with bleu cheese sauce, mashed potatoes, and the best carrots I have ever eaten. We finished it off with espresso creme brulee. After that we rolled out of the restaurant! We also had a house full of guests. One of them stayed for 4 nights. The annual airshow was this weekend and it always brings my dh's aviation friends out of the woodwork. They are all lovely people and I do enjoy them but, I also need time away from people as I am quite the introvert. Last night I was so happy that our house was quiet!! I may have mentioned that my oldest son (not the one having the baby) is building a house. I went over to see what I could do to help. Last week they drilled a lot of holes to run the electrical wire. It took me 3.5 hours to sweep up all the saw dust and the debris left from them cutting wire etc. This morning my hamstrings are just screaming from all the bending that I had to take ibuprofen. lucyg and cadoodlebug. I printed that recipe whenever Joy posted it last time. I have the pork roast, and the tomatillo salsa. I don't know why I haven't made it yet. I will have to add that to my "gotta make this" list!!!

lucyg Isn't it all one show? Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In? (My parents are 72 and 61, so I'll blame them for that knowledge. Which is funny that my mom would make that sort of reference, as my grandfather was exceedingly strict as to what they could/couldn't watch on TV. Hee-Haw comes to mind as an absolute no.)

It was lily Tomlin wasn’t it? 😂 taylortroop I hope your chest discomfort is nothing. It’s raining here and gray. So I’m sleepy. I have an online class all week so I need to wake up. I had an in person demo at the studio which is why I’m sleepy. Just from sitting there. Dh left for the week so I can eat whatever I want. I’m broiling shrimp because I can’t grill tonight. I’ll have any rechauffe sides in the fridge. leannec I’m glad your speed dating wasn’t all bad.

Good Afternoon! Having a slow day here, just a few chores, some sewing and lots of reading articles online. The rains are over and now we are 'enjoying' the humidity that comes with the heat. First week of the year we will be hitting the 90s. Summer has arrived it seems. Dinner will be a tossed salad and leftover Italian sausage from last night. It's my tv night so I will keep it light and easy. Hope everyone who had a rough day has a better day tomorrow. ETA was Rowan & Martin the same thing as Laugh-In? cadoodlebug, because she’s probably the only one besides me who’s old enough to remember. You bet your sweet bippy I remember R&M Laugh-In! Loved that show!

Dinner will be something light. I had unplanned Culver's for lunch simply to taunt my niece. I had a kid's cheeseburger meal and then used the coupon for free scoop. Usually I have the scoop another day but as it was my niece's fave, I got a cone just for the photo to taunt her on Instagram. Cause I'm a nice aunt like that. 😉 She damn near instantly replied.😂 I think Culver's is a favorite of lucyg so consider yourself a tauntee, too, Ms Lucy. Cheeseburger, onion rings and butter pecan ice cream cone. 🤤 There's probably enough calories there to call it both lunch and dinner. Happy day everyone

Do you have any baaaad stories to share? My blind dates would make a comedy routine. No real bad stories ... we were not together long enough ... A couple guys did nothing but talk about themselves which annoys me to no end ... I don't care that you hate current music and love "the oldies" ... drone on about that for eight minutes and see if I give you a "yes" ... I think not. I did have a real life date from Hell last week but I just want to forget it! .

My mouth is watering. It threw me for a second when you said that you had a 5oz steak for entree. I wondered how you were going to fit in a main course after such a big entree! Then I remembered that Americans call the main course 'entree'.... An entree in most other countries is a starter/appetiser. I don't often eat dessert at a restaurant, but if creme brûlée is on the menu, I'm getting it for sure!

I did have a real life date from Hell last week but I just want to forget it! . Oh wow. Did you also spend 7 minutes w/"The Steve"? I spent 10 mins w/"The Steve" and I wanted to kill myself. OMG! It was a blind date. We met at a coffee shop, which back in the early 80's was like a Carrows type place. WTG, Winner Steve! He spent 10 minutes doing nothing but talking about himself in the third person. "The Steve likes to work out. The Steve is an architect." Finally, I couldn't take it anymore. So, I stood up and said, "The (My name) is so sick of hearing about you that she's leaving". Biggest stomp to my car, ever! This was during the short period that Dh (Then just an ex boyfriend hadn't gotten back together, yet after our high school breakup. )
The Birdhouse Lady, your husband sounds very sweet. That couple was so thoughtful. That story just tickled me. How lovely.
