I saw a poll that said only about 1/3-1/2 of Americans and Europeans know their blood type. In Asia, the percentage is much higher, almost 100%.
Do you know your blood type?

I do, and so does the Red Cross, because I get a reminder that they need O- blood once a quarter or so.

I’ve known since my 20s but can’t remember how. I think I was given a card with it on after a hospital visit. I’m AB+

Yes, O+. I've known it forever, even before I had kids. My dh is also O+. Funny story from when we had ds, our first. After ds was born the nurse came in with paperwork. I looked it over and saw that they had an impossible blood type for ds, given that dh and I are both O+. Since I was 100% sure that dh was the father, I figured they'd either brought me the wrong baby or they had made a mistake. And we were 100% it was the right baby because dh hadn't taken his eyes off of him after the birth. At first I'm not sure they believed me, but of course when they redid it they discovered he was O+. Not sure how that happened.

I've known since I was pregnant 19 years ago. DH is also 0+, so all my kids are 0+ too. My mom and two sisters are A+.
My mom's older brother died of RH incompatibility (my grandma was 0-) before they used to test for that stuff.

I do only because I donate blood. I was only recently eligible to donate blood within the last 4 or 5 years. Prior to that I could never remember what it was. I no I was told when I was pregnant but could not keep that info in my head and did not have it written down somewhere I could find it.

Yes, and I know my husbands, so I know what our kids are likely to be, but I don't actually know their blood types! We're O+ and A+

I never knew until a few weeks ago when DH was cleaning out his wallet. He pulled a card and said "I can probably stop carrying this around all of the time"...it was a card with my blood information from when our son was born...19 years ago this Sunday! I never even knew he had that card. I'm fortunate that I've never needed the information. I have however, already forgotten what it said...

I think it is O+ but not 100%. I can never retain what it is. I'm lucky to remember my kid's birthdates sometimes. I know my oldest DD has a rare type, but even that I am not sure. Ummmm.. I just don't retain that information very well. I do have a card in my purse that has it, so if I had to remember it, I can look on that. I have carried that same card with me since the 80s.

My mom is 0- my dad was 0+. My oldest sister is 0+. My second sister had Rh Incompatibility and had to have a blood transfusion and doesn't remember what type she has. I have 0+ as does my brother behind me. My mom received RhoGAM with both of us. My little sister's dad was B+, but his dogtags had told him he was B-, she also had to have a blood transfusion and is B+.

Yes regular blood donor since they started having shortages during Covid. Although I've known since the tested me when I was pregnant and learned I was incompatible with my husband I know both my kids are positive, as I enjoyed the after birth shot.

Yes, I think I found out when giving birth but forgot until I had blood transfusions. I put blood typing kits in my DH and kids’ stockings one year.

I used to donate regularly but have now aged out of donating.

My sister is like my mom and knows all of that stuff. She can spew my medical history right off her tongue because she was my advocate when I was hospitalized and incapacitated for months.
I'll have to ask her.
