Gorgeous! Three hours from now is supposed to be our peak time … hoping they show up here. The photos from Europe and eastern US are insane.

I grew up in northern Alberta so regularly got to see vivid northern lights with the naked eye (lived on acreage spent a lot of time outside late at night with friends in total darkness enjoying the wonder) They are such a magical thing to see, and I don’t mean with a camera enhanced, I mean the full vivid dancing streaks of greens and pinks and blues and oranges seen with just your eyes, magical. And I swear we could hear them crackle and hiss.
Anyway I miss seeing them because I now live in southern BC. I am so hoping tonight will be the night in about 20 years of not seeing the northern lights.

Was the same with the eclipse.

I’m sooooo excited. I’ve literally wanted to see them my whole life and never have. It’s totally clear here tonight and would be a perfect night for viewing them. All my fingers and toes are crossed (and I reallllly wish I would have heard about this before I only got four hours of sleep last night 😂🫠)

10 pm and waiting for it to get dark here. I've seen insane pictures from England, Nova Scotia, Quebec and as far south as Tennessee! ETA I see they have been spotted in South Carolina, Wisconsin, Tuscon AZ.

They have seen them just north of Houston but nothing here in the city. The light pollution doesn’t help either. I’m a bit bummed.

People all over texas have seen them, but we haven’t. We drove around for a bit and didn’t see anything, then I sat out front in our driveway for almost an hour and still didn’t see anything. I will probably try again in a little bit, but even though the clouds have dissipated quite a bit, I’m not holding my breath. So sad.
Guess we’ll have to keep our plans to go to Iceland in a couple years!

I’m in CA so will likely not see them.
My friend in WI has been sharing some beautiful pictures. I’m really jealous.

We drove to Nebraska for my niece's high school graduation from Minnesota today. Everyone back home was posting pictures. As luck would have it, we saw them in Nebraska too. It was a fun time with my whole family.

I never thought I would see the northern lights. Tonight has been so cool! Where I'm at there isn't a great view with the naked eye, just a subtle pink/purple shimmer but the camera picks up some very cool colors! Here's my view:

We’re are in Oregon. We drove out to one of my son’s favorite hunting spots, on a hill away from all lights and people. You could see the lights and colors and streaks and dancing movements with just your eyes. But when you took pictures with the phone camera, it was amazing the different vibrant colors it picked up. So much more than we could see. I, too, haven’t edited my photos in any way, the colors are already so intense.
I’m not set up to share any of my photos, but I’m sure enjoying everyone else’s.

Wow these photos are incredible. We had rain and clouds all day yesterday on the East Coast but it’s clearer today. Maybe we will see something. I would be willing to drive quite a distance to see something like this. Lucky you!

Our Rural TN family was able to see them. A former pea in AZ was able to see them aided by a camera. We go to bed too early, so we didnt see them, but people we know saw them- I dont know if they were at home or if they were out of town though.and it's going to be cloudy here tonight!

I’m on the Virginia coast taking care of grandsons while their parents travel. I intended to go out and look. But on my third night of having them by myself, I fell asleep as soon as I knew they were down for the night! Lol. Grand parenting is exhausting!

We had beautiful pictures too, in the south west of the UK. We got to bed at 2am! Another thing off my bucket list.

My cousins in WA sent some amazing pictures. I'm so jealous. I spent a week in Iceland chasing the Northern Lights but never saw them as spectacular as some of the pictures I've seen.

I'm so happy many of you saw them. 11:15pm I could still see some colour from the sunset. I saw a faint (to the naked eye) pink glow across the southern sky. And white streaks. The pink glow was beautiful but she didn't dance like I've seen before. By 1:30 am the wind mist have shifted and the wildfire smoke is so thick it's like a dense fog.

Wow! So many of you had gorgeous displays! I'm so pleased for all of you. It was very cloudy here, so we saw something that might have been something at one moment, but mostly we saw nothing. People as close as 20 min. from me did see some of it, though, so it was very localized cloud cover. However, I live far enough north that I do at least remember seeing them once as a child.

Is it true that they might be visible tonight as well?
