I'm using them for the first time. Do I glue them so the outside edge is turned up, down or does it even matter?

I think the more frequent way is turning them so the sides are up -- like a cup sitting on a table.
I'd like to see other people's opinions on this though.

Totally a matter of preference, but I always glue them cupped side face up.

Like a cup. It catches the light more that way.

That is what I think too. Thank you very much.

If you glue them the other way, you'll have a hard time adhering them. When you adhere them with the edge turned up (like a bowl), you have a flat part to glue to your surface. With the edge turned down, you'd have to glue along the edge of the sequin.

I do it edges turned up if I want a more sparkly effect. Otherwise for a matt look I turn it over.

As someone who is addicted to using sequins on my layouts and rarely does one without any sequins...it depends. Usually, as the others have said cup side facing upwards. It is the easiest way to adhere them, and the catch the light better. That being said, at times I like a very natural scattered sequin effect. As if I just threw some sequins down and however they fell I glued them down. (This is a lot harder to get right than it sounds!) This means I generally have to use a few cup side down. They are much harder to adhere this way, but I like the effect. Here is an example of a layout where I did the random scatter...and have some glued both ways...

Imperia, that is a great layout. I really like the scattered look with the sequins. I bought sequins a couple of times and they've been sitting in my stash. I finally used them and it might be the start of an addiction.

It's totally a matter of preference, but I prefer "cup up."

As it seems the majority, I adhere them "cup up" as well BUT if you want to do the other way, I suggest using Dodz 3D like Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L. Just cut it in half and use it, it would fill in that gap and stick forever! LOL! Impearia, LOVE your page = FABULOUS!! Will have to try your tip - thanks!
