Started the month doing a 5k this morning. My time was just over 42 minutes, but I haven't run in about two months.
I'm hoping to do a bit of training and get it under 40 for the 4th of July one.
Any goals for this month? Successes? Struggles?

I've been on the road and skipped exercise friday recovering from 14 hour drive. my goal next week is to go to gym 4 days and sign up for more trainer sessions. and to stop or slow snacking between 3-7 pm. I might get an appointment with a nutritionist. see if I can adapt my diet even more .. I want to lose about 20 more lbs.
it is tough week after week to do what you should.

I saw my doctor on Wednesday and had a bunch of bloodwork done. He was pleased with my weight loss and said all of my labs looked good.
I need to continue to focus on my protein intake and eat less junk. I had gluten this week and can definitely tell that I did!
I just did a few arm exercises tonight. I know I sound like a broken record, but I need to focus on my upper arms - I know I'll never have Michelle Obama arms, but I'd like just a little definition instead of wobbly bits!

I have been MIA the past few months...my weight is holding steady at just over 30 lbs down, still want to lose around 20 more. I'm still tracking everything I eat, the good the bad and the ugly...over 100 days consistently!!! Had to give the walking a rest as I was having awful foot pain primarily in the arch of my left foot..I know TMI, but it was awful!! Anyway it is better, as is the weather, so I think this week I'll get on the bike!!

I've been intending to get involved with this thread, and intended to do it yesterday for the first day of the month.... already failed at that. lolol I've been going back and forth with weight loss over the past year or so, but a few months ago I decided that was ridiculous and finally put my foot down. Since March I've lost 14 pounds, which isn't a lot maybe, but I'm happy. Every week the scale has been going down even if it only half a pound. I've stopped drinking coffee (covid changed my taste buds and now coffee tastes disgusting) which means I gave up all that sweetened creamer. I liked a lot of it, and I never liked the sugar free ones. So that immediately cut out a bunch of daily calories. I also seem to have lost desire for wine. I never drank a lot of it but I had switched to making a wine cooler with diet tonic. But even that doesn't appeal to me now. So odd. But, that cut out wine calories. So with those two things gone I was bound to lose a little weight. Then I also just cracked down on eating, and made myself eat more vegetables. Dh and I have been trying to have salads for dinner at least twice each week, changing out the protein each time (grilled chicken, or fish, or tuna...etc.) This has been good because I hate to cook and making salads is not cooking. haha I don't even make his, I just set out all the salad stuff and we assemble our own. The biggest change I've been trying to do is add exercise. ugh. I don't really like walking unless I'm with someone. I try to go once a week with a friend (we have a regular Sunday morning time that dates back to when we both had dogs who were good friends, and we've kept it up even though both dogs are now on the Rainbow Bridge )... But the other days it's just me. ugh again. And now with the weather getting hot I have to go really early. I'm always awake early but I don't necessarily want to get dressed and go out at that time. So I'm planning to rejoin my local community center gym, which is a five minute drive from my house. It's incredibly cheap for anyone over 55 years old -- $60 for the entire year! In the past I have managed to read on my Kindle while on a treadmill but it's kind of a pain to keep one hand up near the Kindle to turn the pages. Well... I just joined a Kindle FB group where I learned about this little remote page turner gizmo. You clip it to the side of your Kindle and the remote thing is in your hand. I've tested it at home and I'm thinking this will be a game changer for the gym! I can use it on the treadmill, and maybe on a bike (the recumbant ones). So that's my plan... I'm thinking to go to the gym at least four times per week. That doesn't seem unreasonable, especially considering how close it is to my house. I could even easily walk although the problem then is that I have to walk home after all the exercise. haha We will see...

I have been slacking with my exercise,,, I have various excuses (all valid of course! lol) but work has slowed down and I'm not taking a vacation this month, so no.more.excuses. I'm back to walking everyday and strength training 3x/week. My eating has stayed pretty good, but of course I can do better. I've let some sugar creep back in and had a few too many french fries (the only friend food I eat) and of course need to drink more water. I have a month until we go to the beach so I plan to be very consistent between now and then.

This is a perfect thread for me to jump into as I am making some lifestyle changes. I am 48 and never had a mammo and haven't had an annual exam in 11 years. A few people that I know recently were diagnosed with breast cancer and all of them were told that they caught it early and had a good prognosis. So I made appointments last month. First was the mammo and I have to go back next week for a diagnostic mammo and breast ulstrasound to look at 3 masses they saw. Following week was my annual exam and they did bloodwork. My platelet count was high, my cholesterol is borderline high and my liver enzymes are 3x higher than normal. I am hoping the liver enzymes was because about a week prior I was taking nasal decongestant. Next week they are going to recheck and if still elevated I need to have a liver u/s. I am sure my mammo will be fine but all of this has been a wake up call for me that I need to start prioritizing my health. Ideally I would like to lose 45 pounds but would be happy when I have lost 30. My goals for this month is to workout at least 4 times per week, eat healthier and drink 2 40 oz tumblers daily. I am hoping to do better but my 12yo dd plays softball so the month of June has a lot of games. I am also hoping to cut down my daily 5 cans of Diet Coke. Baby steps...

I am trying to walk a mile each day in June. My weight is up. Can't shake the sweets. However, I haven't had a cigarette in 47 days so I'm trying to focus on one thing at a time and I'll tell you the cravings have still not gone away. I still feel like I'm being tortured.

I haven't participated in this thread for a while, but I would like to start as I really need to start focusing on my eating habits and my health more. It's been a rough few years for me, and I have picked up some really bad habits and been way too lazy.
I am turning 61 in a week, and I decided that I am going to walk at least 61 miles in the month of June. My goal is to walk most of it outside and not on a treadmill, so that means I will mostly have to get my lazy butt out in the morning before work. Once I get home from work, it's usually too hot and humid. I did two miles yesterday morning before work, but today it was threatening rain, so I didn't do it. Which means now I will have to go out after work. I guess I will just take an umbrella because there is a chance of rain this afternoon, too.

I am still plugging away. Getting all my daily steps in but have been slacking on strength training. Once I get out of the habit it is really hard for me to get back into it. But I am going to the gym after work today! I tend to go in spurts with weight loss. I will maintain the same weight for over a month then all of a sudden drop a couple of pounds. jeremysgirl that is great on not having a cigarette. Laurie great job on stepping up and realizing how important your health is.

I should probably join this thread... I am trying to eat healthier after going to the doctor for an ear infection and seeing the number on the scale when they weighed me...
Right now I'm not really focusing on exercise (and it's never helped me lose weight) just food.
I bought a Mediterranean cookbook and have been making recipes from it (pita bread which didn't pita so I might need to make it on the grill and not my oven), hummus, and some salads, everything so far has been delicious.
I've tried to stop eating snacks that have long lists of ingredients, which I think is helping me not be hungry all the time. I'm having hard-boiled eggs, almonds (a serving a day, not whenever I walk through the kitchen), fruit (helps that it's almost summer so there is more than apples and bananas to pick from), and string cheese instead of crackers or chips.
I cut creamer from my coffee and switched to half and half a few months ago, and am trying not to drink soda or juice.
I haven't gained any weight, am eating less, and thinking about junky snacks and then imagining someone in a lab dumping chemicals on the food seems to be a big deterrent for me.
So far so good anyway as of week #3 of Operation Eat Healthier.

As many of you may know, I've been taking Wegovy since last April. For the most part, sulphuric burps have been my worst symptom. Fortunately, with time, they seem to have gone away for the most part, until today. ðŸ˜
I mostly eat chicken and I've cut back a lot of my red meat consumption. I defrosted some homemade vegetable beef soup last night, and I ate some today for lunch, along with some grilled cheese. My stomach hasn't felt so unhappy in ages. I need to figure out if it was the combination of meat and vegetables, the beef stew meat, the vegetables, the gluten + dairy from the grilled cheese, or if entire thing was to blame. I hate playing food detective!
My weight has been under 200 for than a month straight, but I've been moving around between 194-198 for the past few weeks. Here's hoping it starts going in a consistent downwards direction soon!

I am still taking a maintenance dose of tirzepatide, the lowest dose, and my weight has been steady for several months. So that part is easy. But the muscle loss from eating less combined with menopause is significant, and I keep saying I'm going to go to the gym again, and I never do.
Well, I have finally put in notice at my job and am officially going part-time! I'm so happy to be able to do this and now I'll have no excuse about being tired all the time.
I can finally cook again, and work out, and enjoy life again (I hope). I need to get a butt back. This thing screams MIDDLE AGED WHITE LADY and it's embarrassing. I want my JLo booty back. It's gonna take a lot of squats. I hope my knees can take it.

I feel bad posting on the thread since I never seem to make any progress, but here goes...
I am really struggling to change my eating habits. I am not sure why, because I feel worse than ever (physically and with less confidence). I need to get back to pre-tracking my food and then sticking with it. Saying no to sweets. Eating more nutritious foods.
I did start exercising again this week so that is a start. I still walk the dog daily. A previous coworker got a puppy and we have been meeting at the dog park. She is also starting to get back to exercise and eating healthy (I know in the past she was always very motivated once she set her mind to it) and that is sparking me to get my butt in gear as well.
I just made an appt with a Dr to talk about hormones and possible HRT. I continue to be so ridiculously tired during the day and it's driving me crazy. I need to figure out a way to change that. It's even worse when I exercise.
My goals for each week:
3 full body strength workouts 2 rides on the spin bike 2 Barre 3 workouts drink at least 80oz of water a day 100+ g protein per day

Im avoiding this thread. I am gaining weight. Stress. Drinking my calories. Lots of excuses but not doing much to change it. I am right there with you! Does anyone find the more you focus on this, the more you fail? I think I am too hard and critical of myself. I am the type of person who doesn't weigh herself (except at the doctors). I have put on 15 pounds in the past 7 years and I hate it. Turning 60 has put me over the edge and I almost have gotten to the point of giving up and saying this is just what it is when you get older. What is interesting for me is I don't eat or crave sweets. I like salty foods, but at the most might eat several tortilla chips every day with salsa. I love cheese which isn't great for you, but I eat it when I am hungry between meals. I have cut out carbs for the most part at dinner. Rarely eat after dinner. Only thing that probably has contributed to weight gain is I love to drink wine. When we go out to eat once a week I don't eat the greatest. I used to starve myself in my teen years/early 20's having probably a 600 calorie diet. I just wonder if I have screwed up my metabolism. I blame my parents. My mom is 88 and still to this day she talks about how fat people are (the aides) in her memory care and how she is gaining weight and getting fat. Being told you need a girdle at 17 doesn't do good for your self esteem. And then I look at a lot of women in their 70's who walk on the beach and they must weight 90 pounds. How can they get this skinny and be so thin? I think I would be dead if I weighed that amount. I am short and of a muscular build. I like to eat. I swear they must eat one meal a day. I lift weights at the gym 2 days a week and walk at least 3 days a week for 4 miles. I don't know how much more I can do. Just venting here.

I had been using Noom and was doing pretty good. I nees to get back into that habit.
I have out of town conferences all next week, so food isn't on me. The first two days there isn't a gum. But the last three there is. My plan is to use at least the treadmill.
Then the week after, I'm gonna do better with ny good. I've almost eaten everything that I could snack on so it won't be in the house

Im avoiding this thread. I am gaining weight. Stress. Drinking my calories. Lots of excuses but not doing much to change it. Same. I fell in November and hurt my knee. Went to PT in Jan/Feb, and had an MRI when I wasn't improving. Really thought I had torn something, but they claim it is Arthritis. Got a cortizone shot in my knee. Then freaking fell again - took the dog out at 3am and missed 2 steps. Fell on both knees and my left arm. The pain was now in both knees and I was distraught. I had a good cry, and then have been focusing on my knee stretches, which has helped so much, but I have to do them every day or I feel it the next. I have been alternating walking and swimming bc I really need to keep active, it helps so much mentally. My dr prescribed Saxenda for me, but I could never fill the rx. I went back to see her and she prescribed wegovy. Damn if it didn't get filled! But I am leaving for Denmark on Sunday, and I dont want to start a new med when I am out of the country, so I will wait until I get back to start. I hope I can keep getting the rx tho, since the shortage really makes it unknown. My blood pressure is also up, my dr is hoping weight loss will help that go down. I'm also on the pill and may need to go off if it is making my blood pressure higher. But I use it for birth control.... so I need DH to get a vasectomy bc I am only 48, and there are reports of people getting pregnant on Wegovy. I just cannot deal with a baby at this point in my life, so it's time for him to help out there... he's thrilled LOL.

Wegovy may help with your blood pressure - it appears that many people have seen a reduced BP after taking it. I don't know how bad the shortages are for the lower doses, but it may be wise to fill the .25 dose now, and then go ahead and get a .5 dose filled when you get back from your trip. Some people suggest getting 3 doses lined up before you start, so you don't have any issues with continuity of care. I started Wegovy in April 2023, so I was fortunate to not have any time periods where I couldn't get the medicine, but I did jump up to 1.7 because of a shortage of 1.0. (I had thought about staying at 1.0 for a few months, but after a month or two on it, bumped up because of the shortage - I didn't go straight from .5 to 1.7! 🤣)

I am making my goal of getting back to the gym 4. days a week, now just need to add in another hour or two somewhere. I find it motivating to have a class to go to.. so I do aquafit and low impact conditioning.. both two days a week.
I need to cut back on snacks esp after dinner. I seemed to hit a plateau weight wise. oh well.

We've had quite a few family stressors...some good and some not so good. In spite of that, DH and I have committed to having two vegetarian meals during the week and more salads with our meals on the weekends. So far, it's working and we've been trying a bunch of new recipes.
I'm still doing "Get Fit with Rick" and I am now obsessed over closing the fitness rings on my phone every day. Sometimes it gets done before lunch and other days not until just before dinner. I work up a good sweat and he is so positive and energetic that my mood seems to improve quickly.
Everyone keep at it! We can do this!

So far so good this week- it's a start at least! I'm walking on M, W, F and strength training on T, Th, Sa. I've decided to add in a walk after dinner also on MWF so that it'll be an hour total instead of just 30 minutes at lunch. A walk after eating is supposed to be so good for you.
If you're frustrated with where you are right now, start with a walk (or two) after a meal. It's a good place to start and you can build from that.

I quit my previous trainer last month. Partly money, partly diverging goals. I was with her almost 18 months and learned a lot. But I was ready to get back to heavy lifting, so I joined Jason and Lauren Paks RISE program and I'm definitely enjoying it. They focus on the big lifts and I'm really looking forward to getting some PRs. I'm turning 55 next month and I would love to have a 100 pound deadlift with a 125 max out before then

NSV today - I fit into a size 12 pair of Talbots bootcut jeans I purchased in 2019! 🎉
I have 2 pairs of the bootcut jeans in size 14, but I think they were cut differently, either because I purchased one pair from the main store and the other from the outlet or I purchased one pair in 2019 and one in 2024. One pair still fits well, while the other is roomy enough that I didn't need to use the zipper or button yesterday, which is why I tried the 12s on today.
I still have a ways to go, but progress is progress!

I’ve been decreasing my semaglutide dose for the last month or so, because (and this is flipping CRAZY to me!) my weight is a bit lower than I’d like… I’m hovering around 128, and I’d like to be more around 135. Trying to find that sweet spot where I can maintain at that dose! Also still trying to get better at working out, partly to build back some curves (like Zee, I’m struggling with my loss of booty) but also for my health. I am strictly looking at weight training, and I was doing great for a while! Unfortunately, I got out of the habit when we traveled last month and haven’t been able to get back in the routine yet. :/
