We are halfway done with this year. Let's discuss what we have been seeing lately.
Mixed media is still really strong. At least on design teams, I'm still seeing a lot of white pages with ink or other messy product added.
The image I'm seeing a lot lately is roller skates. What the heck do you do with roller skates? Beside using the pun "roll with it"?
Nineteen 60s, 70s, and 80s images/aesthetic seems to be showing up lately. It is either that or Victorian. Besides a few Art Deco patterns in the new BoBunny line, no one seems to be covering the period between 1900-1960.
Flowers are everywhere. They always have been, I guess, but it is hard to find a line without them.
Grey Poupon yellow is still with us. Ugh. I like the mustard, hate the color.
What else have you been seeing this year?

I don’t know if this is a trend, or I’ve just started noticing it since I now incorporate digital designs in my own paper crafting, but I have been seeing digital items on layouts.
Some ephemera packs seem to include digital images, but I don’t think what I’ve been seeing is strictly from ephemera packs.

I am seeing a lot of icons (flowers, various objects, etc...) on or attached to things. Example: Especially with words. The word bloom has a flower attached to a corner of it. Cupcakes or cake has a flower, butterfly or something attached to the top of it, a sidewalk cafe table surrounded by flowers.
I am also seeing a lot of sticker and embellishment words and objects.....cut out around it(not sure if that is the correct terminology). Similar to when I-we used deco scissors to cut out around everything.
I prefer words and objects, without any embellishments or attachments. I can always add my own, if I want to. I prefer straight and symmetrical lines, and not cut out around whatever the shape of the word or object is.

Flowers truly are everywhere. More so than before, I think. I especially notice it in holiday & winter lines. Previously one would certainly see a lot of poinsettias, holly, mistletoe, etc. in a Christmas line, but lately I've just been seeing more generic florals done in red & green, for instance.
Or a winter line done with very cold motifs---scarves, mittens, cocoa, snowflakes, and then florals.
Those are just places I didn't see random flowers as often before.

I have to say that I haven't really seen any new trends in digital lines. Nothing that has jumped out at me, anyway. I mainly buy from the Lilypad, and the designers are all so different. There is a really good mix of simple / mixed media / grungy / art journaling / mixed media / cutesy etc.

Was just thinking about this when looking at one of the new CB collections, Winter Wonderland. Let it snow with magnolias and roses?? Can't get my head around that one at all.

Agreeing with a lot of the comments here. I think a "trend" is also when something comes out and is well received, I feel like all of the major brands copy the idea and then everyone has XX stamp, paper, etc. Examples include ledger, certain fonts/type, certain topics like birthday stamps, book/reading stamps, lots of habit tracking and planner cross over items.
I continue to see lots of mixed media, fonts, icons, keyboard characters, lots of planner and habit themed cross overs. I also feel like there is a ton of repeat going on with some brands. Some repeat color palettes, others repeating both color and imagery. I miss seeing "new" ideas and new color palettes.

I can honestly say I haven't noticed a single new trend in scrapbooking supplies for 2024. Seems to me that a lot of the same things (like icons and color palettes) are repeated year after year, although some trends drop into obscurity, and some make it back -- like the vintage look supplies are making a comeback and metal dies which have been around for years, but almost died off when electronic cutting machines became so popular, seem to be getting more and more popular. There are some almost obscure trends I would like to see make a comeback.

Grey Poupon yellow is still with us. Ugh. I like the mustard, hate the color. Simple Stories and Echo Park seem to use it the most. Simple Stories will have some beautiful prints but they often ruin it for me with that mustard color. Echo Park has used it in baby collections, there are so many pretty shades of yellow for babies I don't know why they go for baby poop yellow.

Yes, I hate that shade of yellow, and it has ruined some collections for me. We had a chair that color when I was a toddler (late 1970s), yuck.

I am having a hard time thinking of any trends...
I thought I was seeing a little more purple for a while (yay!) but that kind of disappeared or I'm not looking in the right places.
I am enjoying all the 49 and Market (and others) watercolor style papers. Not really new to 2024 though...
Flowers, flowers, flowers, flowers everywhere...so many stinkin' flowers.
I'm not sure if it's a new trend but lots of what I call sticker sneeze paper: white background with small icons repeated all over it. Every EP collection, and most Photoplay collections have 1-2 of these kinds of papers. Doodlebug 4th of July collection has one.

I haven’t bought much lately but I did notice a lot of birds, butterflies, and dragonflies. Also a lot of purple out there now. I remember a few years ago I couldn’t find much in the way of purple printed paper or cardstock.

I actually like the flower packs. Lets get the flowers off of the tumblers, brushes and luggage and give them their own package. That way people can use an unadorned suitcase and then if they want to use a flower they can add it themselves. I also like the flower packs because sometimes I love the paper in a collection but don't like the icons. Using the flower pack lets me add an embellishment to my clusters without using whatever goofy icons come in the regular pack. Simple Stories and Echo Park seem to use it the most. Simple Stories will have some beautiful prints but they often ruin it for me with that mustard color. Echo Park has used it in baby collections, there are so many pretty shades of yellow for babies I don't know why they go for baby poop yellow. Yes! So many pretty shades of yellow. I love yellow. I don't get the obsession with that mustard color. I never thought about baby poop (that made me laugh) but you are right, it is definitely that shade. Blech! I'm not sure if it's a new trend but lots of what I call sticker sneeze paper: white background with small icons repeated all over it. Every EP collection, and most Photoplay collections have 1-2 of these kinds of papers. Doodlebug 4th of July collection has one. Doodlebug always has at least one in every collection. They have such nice, versatile patterns and then they throw in a couple like that. It just seems very dated. After the 1990s-2000s, I live in fear of sticker sneeze.

In the context of my entire post, the addition of an embellishment pack devoted to florals is further evidence of the floral trend. I have no issue with the existence of a floral embellishment pack, especially considering how many scrappers seem to like/purchase it (given it's often among the first products to sell out - & actually be restocked - at online retailers). I also wish the floral embellishment pack would have replaced the floral-adorned icons/images/letters/etc., instead of just adding more florals usually to collections - regardless brand &/or theme - already blooming with them...UGH!

Oh yes artbabe, I agree with that yellow color thing. It's such a strong yellow that it seems to overpower everything else. A softer yellow would be so much more pleasing to the eye. I guess I haven't really noticed any special trends other than the popularity of mixed media. And I don't know if this a trend or just a personal peeve of mine: So many different pkgs. of ephemera (and quite expensive). Floral ephemera, journaling ephemera, icon ephemera...It would be nice to be able to buy one pack of a little bit of everything ephemera. Of course the way it's going, that pack would cost $30.

Is this the sticker sneeze paper? If so I bought both of the ones DB has lol I got it for the B side because I like the effect it gives as a background paper or for a pocket card. While the A side makes my eyes hurt, the B side is really muted and similar to what others do with stamps to create a cool background paper.

As far as trends, nothing like past years where say chandeliers or foxes are used by multiple paper companies. Old school paper as I like to call it is plentiful though which is nice for those who want to scrapbook their childhood. Well second thought on trends... The color bursts. Multiple paper companies have those in their lines. This is what I mean: I really do like these papers as it helps bring focus to the photo.. There also seems to be a lot of colorful stripes papers as well. But is that a trend? Don't know. And maybe a resurgence of wood grain paper. That one seems to ebb and flow.

I thought of another one. Rub ons are back with a vengeance. I really like using them and the look (mixed media without the mess) but man, are they expensive.
I have a bunch of 49 & Market ones and I'm eyeing the AALL Create ones. I've noticed they've shown up in other companies lines, too.
