I'm feeing very venty lately, but here's my latest beef. I do a lot of pickup orders and there always seems to be cars parked in the designated pick-up, to-go order spaces where there is no one in the car waiting for a pickup. Happened today when I went to the store and the lady just got out of her car and walked into the store. Luckily at this store, there are 6 spots but at least two of them are usually filled up by 'parkers' and not 'waiters.'
So do you think it's ok to park in these spots, even if it's just for a few minutes? I have a feeling I know which way this will go, but I'm curious!

No and those who do irk the crap out of me. Too many people abuse handicap and to go/curbside pick up spaces for convenience.

I don't, but I see many people doing it. There is no enforcement, so no one to stop them.

I do very occasionally park in a curbside delivery spot if I'm running in for a quick pickup, as many places around here still have spots specifically marked for curbside - yet they no longer offer curbside. My assumption is that it is to be used as pick up now, but I guess it isn't technically stated as such. And I don't park there if there's another equally convenient spot.
I don't park in handicapped, though!

Realized I somewhat misread the question.
If I were going in to a restaurant to eat or a store to shop, I would not park in a pick up spot. Even though I've been sorely tempted at a couple of places!

Nope, just the opposite. Since I got my new car ( that I love so much ) I park in the furthest spots from the entrance. I need the steps anyway, so it’s a win win.

That drives me crazy. Anytime I do a Walmart pick up order at least half of the pick up spots are taken by people that are shopping in the store.

If it a pick up spot, aren’t you supposed to park there while you run in, pick up and go? I’ve used the pick up spots at restaurants when I’m picking up. I thought that’s what they’re for

Do not even get me started on this. Major pet peeve. Every time I pick up groceries from Whole Foods there are cars just parked in those spaces. It happens at Target, too, but doesn’t bother me as much because they have many spaces and are seldom full. WF only has 5 spaces so I often have to circle the lot waiting for a space to open up.

No. The last time I did curbside pick-up at Lowe's, all the spots were taken and no one was in any of the cars... and then they didn't bring out one of my items and I had to go in anyway (DH stayed in the car.) That area also looks and feels like a dystopian movie, but that's another story.

I think that why I'm really salty about it is that I used to have an electric car that didn't have a long-range battery life. This was the first EV to come out and exH had to have it. The charging spots were few and far between, and we needed to use the ones we could count on. Nevertheless, there always seemed to be an EV parked there that wasn't charging or some other car blocking it.
The purpose of these spots was for active charging, not just because you have an EV. Spent quite a bit of time waiting for people to get back to their cars so we could charge.

No. But, it drives me crazy to see them still up at places that no longer support curbside delivery. Or that there are 8-10 in front of a location and they are always empty.

I picked no because I don't unless I am picking something up that is ready to go like let's say Chili's. I put in my order. Drive there use the pick up spot, run in and get my order. I'm guessing that is what that is for? Maybe I am misunderstanding the question... but if I am going in to shop, no, I park in a regular spot.

I don’t do pick up of food often but after work if I’m grabbing it quick, I do appreciate an easy, quick parking spot. I did a pick up from target once where they bring it to your car, that was during Covid and was the only time I parked in one of those places.

I don't because I would think it would be a towable place and I do follow the rules due to consequences and being a good human.

I figured that the answers would be unanimous as I know most of the Peas are rule followers. I was just shocked this morning when this woman parked in front of me as they were bringing out my order. She didn't bat an eye that she wasn't there for curbside pickup and passed the employee on her way into the store. As others have said there are no consequences for parking there as no one is going to want to raise a stink. Glad that the Peas are good humans

I don’t park in those spots. But I get irritated there are so many. There used to be maybe 12 spots at Sam’s, and they were almost always empty. For some reason they added two entire new rows of pick up spots, and they are all still empty. I have no idea why they did that.

we don't have those spots..so I guess my answer is no... we have a few designated parking spots marked 5 min.. so if you are lucky enough to get one, people park and run in for food or something. or you park parallel to a parklet (taking up parking spaces) and you put on blinkers and run in for food.
land of little parking always

When our Walmart first started grocery pickup, we had 8 spaces and I always moved my vehicle after getting my order. If I needed to go into the store for something I'd forgotten, I would park somewhere else and go in. Now we have over 2 dozen spaces and it is rare for more than 4 or 5 to be in use at once. If I need to go into the store as well as get a pickup order, I park in one of these spaces and stay there until I'm done with my shopping. I never park in those spaces unless a pickup order is part of my visit.

I see the same thing. One day, I asked the person bringing my order if they do anything about those that abuse the spaces and they said they could not say anything to any one that parks there and goes elsewhere. Grrr!

I park in the McDonalds spots that are marked for curbside when I place a mobile order and run in to get it. My reasoning is that I am saving an employee a trip out by running in, but I would be parked there for only a couple minutes. I don't get in the drive thru because so they are sooooo slow.

I don’t and it irritates me when others park and go in . I did do it once… I did curbside pickup. Got home and all the groceries belonged to someone else. I called the store and they told me to come in, they can’t help me curbside so I felt like it was okay to park there for that reason.

The whole concept irritates me. Either have it delivered or go inside and shop. The walk will do you good. I don't use those spots because they are posted for a purpose. I do use handicapped spaces, depending how I feel, I do have a sticker.

No, nor do I park in the “Parent With Child” designated space at my grocery store, even though I’m a parent and have a child. Now if it said “Parent With Young Child” it wouldn’t annoy me as much.
