Yes, I always sleep with a top sheet. In summer it's just enough, in winter it keeps the scratchy bedspread off of me. Plus, the god (dog) sleeps on the bed sometimes, and I find the top sheet keeps the dog hairs off the bottom sheet.

I always use a top sheet, but all 3 of my son's do not. They are 26, 23 and 19.

Top sheet for me. It’s a textural thing. I want the smooth texture next to my skin.

Always use top sheets here, for the reasons everyone has already said. I'm not sure what my dd does in her own home but when she's here she uses a top sheet because that's how I make up the bed. Same with ds and his fiancée. lol
My question is, what are all the people who don't believe in top sheets doing with them? I mean, can you buy just a fitted sheet? I've never see them in stores, only sets of top/bottom/pillowcases.

Yes because it's smooth and cool but double yes because I have a BedJet and the sheet you can buy for it, while expensive, is worth the money because it diffuses the air all along your body.
I never wake up sweaty, cold, or hot. And I like the feel of a smooth clean cotton sheet.

I’m a top sheet user. In fact, when we lived in Europe and traveled, I’d bring a flat sheet along since not everyone uses one there.

I had never heard of NOT using a top sheet. I'm very cold natured and have multiple layers year round with an electric blanket in winter. I have always used a top sheet.

I use a top sheet but for some reason none of my kids do, even though I always used to make their beds with one. I think it’s weird not to use one, they think it is weird to use one.

Oh my gosh, yes. Absolutely, emphatically, yes! All year round, every single day, since I've been old enough to sleep in a bed.

Summer or Winter, all I have is the fitted with the top sheet folded back to the end of the bed. I sleep on top of it. My condo is around 26-28C all the time, so no need for covers.

I use a top sheet, if not I’d have to wash my blanket so much more often!
This spring, when I was too hot with a blanket but too cold without I bought a luxurious double thick crinkled top ‘sheet’ because it reminded me of the double thick pieced eyelet sheets I used to have from my grandmother

No I do not generally use a top sheet. I only have a doona (duvet). No top sheet, no blankets. In summer, we will change over to the lightweight summer doona. Although on hot nights, I will use a sheet. But even then I often get cold in the middle of the night, and have to pull the doona back over me. The top sheet protects the comforter from body oils and keeps it cleaner longer. I don’t get the logic of not using a top sheet. The doona cover does the same thing. We wash the fitted sheet, pillow cases, and doona cover at the same time. I have multiple doona covers, and I like to change them around each week to enjoy the different colours and designs. Mind you, I really hate having to put the doona cover back on. I always leave that job to DSO.

This Brit doesn't even possess a top sheet, never mind use one. Yes, we can buy just a bottom sheet. From the mattress up it's: electric underblanket fleecy underblanket fitted bottom sheet me duvet (comforter) in its own, washable, cover.

Always a top sheet. My kids (late teens-early twenties) sometimes don’t, but they are heathens.

I have always had a top sheet. I agree that it protects the comforter and I also need something over me. Even in the summer.

Yes. It is warm weather and the AC is running. I have a top sheet and I am under a very light thermal blanket as well.

Yes! I don't have "blankets" on my bed, I have a super lightweight down comforter, and a heavy down comforter. The heavy one is folded over (3 times? may 4?) at the end of the bed during the summer (spring/fall depending on weather). The light one is there always, although it gets tossed down in the summer if the bedroom is too warm. I can't imagine having to wash the comforter AT LEAST weekly like the sheets. Plus it would just feel wrong.

I put the sheet set on like you, no blanket (except for maybe Jan - Feb) and the bedspread/comforter on top. Often, I end up pushing the comforter off during the night but I HAVE to have the top sheet covering me.

Yep I have to have a cover even if it is hot.. so kick bedding off and use sheet.
When I was young in my 20s I never used a top sheet.. not sure when that shifted.

Both my Gen Z daughters refuse to have top sheets. This is what my kid prefers too. She sleeps on top of her duvet with a Kohl’s throw over the top of her. Must be a generational thing.

Always a top sheet. I also am someone who needs something on me and if a blanket/comforter is too warm, the sheet works perfect.

I do use a top sheet. We have a duvet and a duvet cover, which should preclude needing a top sheet. That being said, we only wash the duvet every couple of months, and my husband is a sweaty Italian, so washing a top sheet is easier than washing the whole-assed duvet cover.

No, just a duvet with a cover on that gets washed once a week. At the moment we're just using the cover because it's too hot.

Top sheet=Yes — but when I was a teen I was too lazy to deal with making the bed with a top sheet so I just used a comforter.
